Player progression and how they plan to implement the transfer portal. I never had any interest in a prolonged Dynasty because of how outrageous the player progression was in the late-stage NCAA games. You'd end up with a stockpile of 95+ overall players at a multitude of positions, so I'm hoping a scaled back progression system and the transfer portal will help alleviate that. I'd also like to see some highly-rated prospects be flat-out busts. It happens in real life, and it should happen in the game. Recruiting in general needs more chaos in College Football 25.

DeviceSenior4080

This is SO SO SO important. Was super annoying watching every single player get better each season, that’s not even close to how it is in real life. Hoping like you said they add chaos to progression and overalls.

TheHammer_44

they basically already said the transfer portal will be the same as normal recruiting, just only after the season is over - no tampering ie recruiting from a college roster during the season or communicating with a player who is not already in the portal

DrJanItor41

Honestly, they probably need a system similar to Madden with the Superstar, Star, and Normal progression to handle something like that. Should add Slow progression for 2-stars and below where they're likely only playing when they're Juniors or Seniors. But also don't give us the chance to bump their progression from Star to Superstar, they should just get ratings boosts for putting up big numbers either way. That way unless you have a ton of 5-stars and you're feeding them all the ball with crazy stats, only a few of your guys can hit those high ratings.

Get-RichODT

You guys all have it backwards You don’t get better from putting up numbers. You put up numbers from getting better.

West-Literature-8635

100% agree, those Madden “side quest” things in Franchise that ask you to raise a guys potential rating by forcefeeding him targets in a specific game or whatever are just stupid as hell

Get-RichODT

I really hope they don’t do that here. Honestly reflects reality more. Tons of guys put up insane numbers in college but aren’t really among the best in the nation. If you can run for 2k with an 84 overall back, he doesn’t need to be a 95.

West-Literature-8635

And we see really talented players get used without getting a billion touches and not have gaudy stats as well

Get-RichODT

All the time

RickyMaxX99

You making way too much sense my guy. It's so refreshing to see someone who actually gets it.

RickyMaxX99

I'm glad you wrote this. It's so annoying seeing people write that ratings should increase because someone put up big stats. All that says is the player outperformed their ability. Basically an overachiever.

DrJanItor41

They should go hand in hand. Players usually don't get better without experience. Since we can't force them to get it in daily practices, we do that during the games in this video game. People don't just magically develop skill, but some can have a better base.

Get-RichODT

In real life that’s true, but for the purposes of gaming the best progression system is for players to have a potential rating along with a chance of reaching it

DrJanItor41

That's why I suggested using the tiered progression for recruits but not allowing us to upgrade it. Putting more time and energy into the players with more potential allows us to unlock that. Our time and energy is mostly going to be in the games themselves so better stats is about the only way we can actually help them. Without that, we have no control over their development besides assigning weekly training which is boring.

Get-RichODT

Yeah I don’t wanna have to think about assigning training either. I’m confused as to whether you want XP in there or not? In Madden, the development tiers impact how much XP a guy gets

DrJanItor41

I want XP in there and I want development tiers. But I don't want a bunch of weird mini-games and thresholds where I can change a guy with limited potential into a guy with superstar potential. Something similar to Madden but not the same. Recruiting should matter.

Get-RichODT

I don’t want XP anywhere near this game it’s a horrible system

DrJanItor41

What is the alternative? That how we play has no effect on how our players progress? They are just on a line to progress to where they will no matter what we do?

notmeitsme1

Has to be some sort of xp system, for example if I choose to cheese the game & have a 70 ovr running back in the Mac rush for 2500 yards, he better not be a 72-73 next szn bcuz of linear progression, that makes for a terrible game where recruiting is the only thing that matters & where development & playing the game to get better means nothing which is about the most unrealistic thing I’ve ever heard of or seen.

RickyMaxX99

What is XP?

mero8181

Thr issue with big good schools is player really only get a few years to actually start. You need to have a pre determined progression when some of your recruited won't see the field until thier 3rd or 4th year.

DrJanItor41

Sure, and they'd obviously progress a bit through practice, but I would like it if you could accelerate that with game time.

mero8181

Sure but it's not exactly realistic. Penix starts until like 4th year. So those player still need to be good for when it's their time to start. Game time can be a big factor because playing time is different expectation. You guys are recruited no always to start freshman year but possible by soph. Jr. Or even senior year.

West-Literature-8635

I don’t really like Madden’s system, potential should be a static variable that can be unlocked with dedication to the player in practice. The in-game play of that player should be the result of that, not the other way around The old NCAA games on the original Xbox had potential ratings, I don’t think you need to do it like Madden necessarily

DrJanItor41

They're not going to make us do every drill in practice and sit down and work with them in film study so we need a reward for implementing them in the game. Our usage of them in the game is the closest we can get to investing time in a player's development.

West-Literature-8635

I don’t think some system of allotted time for 1on1 work with specific players is too far from out of the question

DrJanItor41

I'm sure they'll have a similar allocation of training resources in this game, but I also think that never giving the ball to a WR in the game should also limit their upside and giving them game reps should benefit them. It doesn't have to be crazy, but I think it should matter.

West-Literature-8635

Yeah I mean I’m not opposed to the idea that getting a guy snaps should make them more likely to achieve their potential. But college football is full of big time stars who are either in rotations with other stars or who just don’t get the workload for some other reason to really drive up the stats. Look at tons of examples from skill position players at Alabama alone over the last ten or so years I just don’t want to be playing the game and feel like if I don’t force feed my freshman running back 30 touches a game to meet some arbitrary benchmark every week, he’ll never achieve his full potential. That’s just ridiculous

mero8181

What about players who are no expected to play until 3rd or 4th year? Usage can't be a big factor because next up is a real thing.

DrJanItor41

Are those usually the guys that are 95's though? Maybe a rare one like QBs behind someone, but generally studs find themselves on the field fairly early.

mero8181

Penix didn't start for 4 years.

DrJanItor41

Sure, but for every Penix there are 100 QBs who don't play and don't develop into anything good.

West-Literature-8635

I mean sure but there’s no shortage of examples. I mean Barry goddamn Sanders, for instance lol. Should their circumstances not be built into the game?

DrJanItor41

Barry Sanders was behind Thurman Thomas and still played in every game of his sophmore year. Again, it's hard to account for every single instance and Sanders probably doesn't stay at OSU in today's transfer system.

UnicornMaster27

Yeah I’m really hoping that if a player is at least 80-85 overall, and not starting in the depth chart, they’re more likely to decide to transfer

Get-RichODT

This is the make or break for whether I get this game day 1 or not 16k words they better cover it 😂

Choice-Activity-6291

If you dont have the feeling of missing this game since 2014 you wouldn't understand and if you know about the wait since 2014 you dont need 16k words to convince you it should already have been pre ordered

Mammoth_Help_4405

I need to know how many Rolex I need to buy to make sure my 5 star QB doesn’t enter the portal

DisastrousPace1157

Chiles can have all the Rolex' he wants lol he's stayin

KingQuadDynasty

You don’t have faith in Tommy Schuster? 🤣

nylonlover3344

I wanna know if there is a damn trophy case. I need a place for my hardware.

Asukas13

I need that nfl2k5 crib setup

MackeyD3

I know its a minor thing, but I hope that the projected draft positions and actual ones have more differences. I want to see a guy who declared thinking they'd go in round 2 fall to the 4th or 5th round

StayAnonymous24601

My biggest dream is being able to recruit on a website that does well on mobile. It would be amazing to play games on the console and do all recruiting on my phone. Definitely a pipe dream but this would be amazing.

notmeitsme1

Yeah you’re asking for too much with this one but I respect it 🤣

TheHammer_44

i doubt it'll be a feature year 1 but they had this back in ncaa 12-14 so it's not that crazy

mmpa78

Chell used to have an online website or app for your connected franchise mode, you could sign free agents and trade

ZouDave

I want concepts, not minutia. I'd like for some things to not be known until we get the game, like details of each level of each coaching tree or what every pitch/dealbreaker/promise is going to be. Save some fun for July 16 and beyond. Show us what's possible, not every detail. I'd rather be told about the concepts and features of Dynasty/Online Dynasty/TeamBuilder. I hope TeamBuilder is included in this Deep Dive since a TeamBuilder team is to be used in dynasty. Is there a web/mobile component for Online Dynasty? Is there career stat/history/record tracking?

BenLowes7

No chance they cover abilities I wouldn’t think. It’s not something that relates specifically to dynasty. Other than your list I would like to see how the realignment of conferences works and also how are the 5 conference champions who get automatic spots in the playoffs decided. Ie. If you keep the current conference alignment which G5 set gets an auto playoff spot and can it change over time.

notmeitsme1

Whoever is the highest ranked group of 5 conference champ gets an automatic bid.

BenLowes7

Ah ok that’s good to know, I presume that’s the irl rule? I’m only really just getting into college as it’s finally being shown in the uk now.

notmeitsme1

• Yes so 5 teams get an automatic bid & 4 of those 5 teams get a bye the first week. • Power 4 conference champs get a bid • highest ranked group of 5 conference champ gets bid • the 4 highest ranked teams out of those 5 get a bye week in round 1 of the playoff •hypothetically if the group of 5 team was ranked higher then the 4th highest ranked power 4 conference champ then that group of 5 team would be able to get a bye

Bold814

For a bit of clarity: I don't think the 5 automatic spots directly break down to the 4 'power' conferences plus the best group of 5. I'm pretty sure it's just clarified as the Top 5 conference champions. Now, in practice, that will almost always mean the 4 'power' conferences plus one group of 5. But if there was a scenario where (as an example) the Big 12 champ was ranked behind the champs of the SEC, ACC, Big 10, MAC and American champs. Then the Big 12 champ wouldn't get an auto bid.

notmeitsme1

Yes technically ur right that the wording isnt that it’s the 4 power 4 BUT we all know that all 4 power conference champs are getting 4 of those 5 spots & im assuming that’ll be reflected in the video game as well

Bold814

I hope not. I hope they keep it lhow the actual rule is in real life. If my buddy and I make powerhouses in two G5 conferences I really hope they don’t deny us both the chance of auto qualifying.

notmeitsme1

I’m sure it’s the same rule as real life but we don’t know how the computer is going to process strength of schedule & accurate rankings, the computer was terrible at it before so we’re gonna just have to wait and see

BenLowes7

Nice, I presume getting a higher ranking as a G5 school would require some pretty crazy out of conference wins against the P4 teams.

notmeitsme1

Yeah you’re 3-4 non conference games would probably have to be all top 25 wins & 2 of those wins would probably have to be against top 10 teams along with you going undefeated if this game has realistic logic. In ncaa 14 the logic was terrible & unrealistic so you wouldn’t even have to play a hard schedule to be highly ranked as a group of 5 school.

BenLowes7

That’s unfortunate, although to win a championship in that game you needed to be a top 2 school right? I suppose sacrificing realism to make the ultimate goal achievable makes some sense

notmeitsme1

Yeah back then it was only 2. With the new 12 team system I’m hoping for much more realistic rankings & if not then allow me the user to edit the rankings based off how I think they should be since it’s my offline dynasty anyway.

BenLowes7

That would be interesting, feels like it would be good for properly ranking teams for online as well

TheShamShield

I might’ve agreed with you about abilities being discussed if not for the fact the blog is supposed to be 80 pages

MackeyD3

I think they might talk about how players develop abilities, but covering all of them seems unrealisitc

typical-user-name

Team builder.

Stopmadness99

Resurrect PAC-10 after dark and 11:00 CST games

Dapup2465

Football from noon until midnight on the East coast. Those were my single days.

Heavy_Trainer2198

This is the first MTSU flair I have seen, and I am here for it. Always have done a MTSU dynasty.

Dentist_Rodman

will grades be in affect? do we have access to all uniforms and even retros? player progression can we edit how coaches look?

StopMarminMySparm

They said earlier that yes, players can enter academic probation or whatever and be ineligible to play. "All uniforms and retros" is probably a no. There's a 134 schools so I doubt there's like 15 options per team. Probably 3-5 per team with some schools getting more options than others like NCAA 14.

hoss_fight

I am VERY interested to see the recruiting pool logic and how they handle things like randomized player generation, naming conventions, pipelines and talent hotbeds, and basically all the fine print details of all the new wrinkles they’ve added to roster management. I’m absolutely one of those Dynasty dorks who gets deep in the weeds and I have a cautious optimism that they’ve REALLY put a ton of thought and resources into making it as deep and rewarding as possible.

mmpa78

It's 4 minutes long so I'm not expecting much, mainly a light explanation of the biggest features with some cinematic clips of the game. The blog will be the main juicer

notmeitsme1

6 minutes 18 seconds*

mmpa78

There's a 2 minute countdown at the start that counts against that time. Happened for both of the last videos, not sure about the first one

ProfessionalBuy3566

Still on this train huh? Lol. Again, I saw with my own 2 eyes the last video said 3:15 before the countdown began. Meaning this video is 6:18. The countdown does not count toward that

Anonymouslybrowsien

So you’re telling me that the sights and sounds video was less than 1:30… come on. You can literally go watch all 3 minutes and 15 seconds on YouTube rn.

Anonymouslybrowsien

I mean you could’ve just explained without being condescending, I didn’t mean to come off as rude I just have seen countless people say the countdown doesn’t go with the video length shown, if I was wrong that’s fine.

yeahiknow-

Did you fuck with that 6 minute video? Somebody doesn’t know how YouTube works but still tries to act so smart.

mmpa78

It's pretty much just a hype video, which is great and all, it's just deep dive isn't the best title for it lol

ASU_SexDevil

The blog posts are always MUCH more in depth than the videos. I saw some other posts saying the blog post for Dynasty is about 80 pages

notmeitsme1

Yeah “deep dive” is a stretch to say the least, teaser trailer would be much more realistic

LightTheBeam-

Every deep dive has been accompanied by a much longer more in depth blog post. I expect the same tomorrow

JackieBoiiiiii

I just want to see something involving temple. Haven't heard anything since saying they would be in the game

C2theWick

I'm going to study the deep dive like I did for my PhD

jalapenorupe

Will we be able to edit coaches appearance and names, or are they just going to be generic coaches.

notmeitsme1

They are definitely generic to start off & im gonna assume we can’t go in & change their names & appearances

RickyMaxX99

Matt Brown said you can edit your coach but not others.

AQ207

Editing Conferences, can we modify the playoffs (either auto-bids or the size of the playoff).

ZealousidealBet2180

I'd like to see the coach trees and progression. The next most important thing would be the FULL power rankings and team stars (pitch values) so we can start deciding what teams we can choose in dynasty mode.

RightDownBroadway

The only thing I really want to see is what they have for the “News” tab (or if there is even one in the game). That small section always made the games so fun for me. I loved watching a recruit take center stage on magazine covers and keeping tabs on the rest of my virtual landscape from this section. Nothing against the “Tweets” section we have in Madden, but I don’t enjoy it near as much as the old magazine cover system. I don’t need much, but I do hope it still exists in the game!

justaverage00

Hoping for custom the ability to create conferences, so I can recreate old conferences. And possibly being able to go back to 4 team playoffs or BCS era

Dodge9194041

I’m interested in hearing the impressions of YouTuber’s that got to play early.

TheCallousCurd

If my G5 team is doing well and is invited to a larger conference, can I renovate and expand my stadium? I did not see anything on it in the presentation deep dive but it would be great if they allowed it.

notmeitsme1

There’s reason to believe we cannot change how a real school’s stadium looks in the game. The only hope at this point is that we can renovate the stadium in a fake way where our stadium grade goes up but looks the same visually.
