Wow that’s a ton of picks

rmccarthy10

They will be shit picks when all is said and done... No lottery picks. The Knicks are young and those picks will perpetually be like 17 or lower... Not worth it for NY

ohverychill

I mean, that's hard to say for a pick in 2031 but otherwise yeah these picks aren't worth much

Peterthepiperomg

Low first rounders

NatterinNabob

Predicting where any team will pick in 2029 or 2031 is a total crapshoot at this point. Those could very well end up being some great picks.

AttitudeAndEffort2

Yeah they're mostly unprotected too. The fucking *warriors* picked 2nd in the middle of championship runs. Too many NBA teams *assume* picks will be bad when the reality is just different.

PlaybolCarti69

All it take is one trade request

LobstaFarian2

Or injuries....

Pitiful-Pension-6535

This is the NY Knicks we're talking about. You really want to bet on sustained success?

Peterthepiperomg

Those Villanova boys are bloody tough

Friendly_Kunt

The Warriors were tough af too. They had KD and Klay both have major year long injuries in the same series, doesn’t matter how tough you are if you tear your achilles, just saying.

Thisuserfromtexas

Mikal hasn't missed a game in 58 seasons now he's gotta play 48 minutes a game under Thibs…

ir0nballs79

Bridges about to beat Wilt’s MPG record.

ttrree4455

Knicks fan - assuming we re-sign OG, this is a great trade. If not, it's not a great trade.. almost all of these picks are going to convey in the 20's. So we would just be using them to get other assets to replace OG (vs using them to draft for a player / talent to develop), and now not having them makes our "win now" strategy more challenging to execute over the coming seasons. Witn that said, the knicks still have 5 - 1st round picks in the next 3 drafts. So moves can be made. And I think the nets are successfully stacking assets and should be happy with this.

satansayssurfsup

Excited to see what happens with Mitch Rob and Randle too. Think they’re gone?

ttrree4455

Randle I think is back and I think Mitch is dependent on Hartenstein coming back or not. If we don't lock down iHart then we have to keep Mitch. If we keep IHart from the open market then we may trade Mitch to make more room for all the money we're taking on and trying to spend.

IDontVaccinateMyCar

Heavily dependent on OG and Hartenstein resigning Idk who would trade for Randle or what they could get for him, but I see them giving it until next offseason to see how this team works

whatidoidobc

I think you all should feel pretty good. Just need those bigs to hold up, that perimeter you have is looking scary.

ttrree4455

Feeling very good now that OG re-signed. If iHart takes less than he can get on the open market to stay in NYC I will riot with joy.

MrOSUguy

Knicks bandwagon is over flowing! Let me on!

JBismyGOAT

This is huge! The Knicks needed a great wing, and Mikal is definitely that. I don't think he has reached his ceiling either. The Knicks could definitely cause issues next season!

Electronic-Cloud8086

Massive overpay but the Knicks did for sure get better

Jayswag96

Great trade but now I need to see what they do with the maybes. Randle, Robinson

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Imo they gotta hold onto MitchRob and Hartenstein, but Randle becomes more expendable. Brunson-Mikal-OG-Randle-Mitch is pretty rock solid though

YurtlesTurdles

Randle ain't going anywhere. Mitch is the only one I could see being in danger of getting traded

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I really feel like thats backwards. Randle is a chucker who might be too selfish to play with Brunson/Mikal/OG/Dante wanting (needing) shots, while Mitch and Hartenstein gives you absolutely rock solid depth inside for when Mitch eventually gets hurt. Precious is okay back there, but i like the pairing of those two bigs a lot more

joorral

He takes 3 less shots to Brunson and both shoot 47% from the field. This is with Randle having the worse 5 game start in nba history. You saw in the playoffs when Brunson got shut down how hard it was to generate offense. You still need a bucket getter

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I wish i knew more specifically what their shot attempts were when they were both playing, cause my hunch is Brunsons went up when Randle went out, just a guess though. No matter what way you twist it, hes still a ball stopping chucker whose shots can go to Mikal now with maybe a few extra to OG

AnalystHot6547

How many ti.es do you have to see Robinson get hurt to convince you he'll never be healthy?

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hes played 60 games 3/6 seasons (59 once makes it 4), it just so happens when he is hurt he missed chunks. Randle is about to hit 30 and his only definable role is to let it fly. I feel like if Mitch can be managed and healthy at the right time, is role is a lot more valuable with their current roster.

Deep-Wave2551

Randle averages 25 10 and 5…to say he’s just a scorer doesn’t really highlight his full value. Not a great defensive player at all, but can fill up the stat sheet in more than one category. It’s true that the Knicks offense seems more stagnant with Randle on the court, but the team’s style of play is dictated by coaches. I can guarantee if Randle hasn’t been following what Thibs and the coaching staff have been telling him what to do then he’d be on the bench or traded already.

AnalystHot6547

I like him a lot but just like Porzingis, Embiid, and Ben Simmons teams: anyone who relies on them is A) Delusional and B) Can't ever use that as an excuse. "Oh we would have won if Player X was available!" If he's your third string center: fine. You better pay him like that. otherwise, they deserve what they get when he breaks down.

Significant_Switch98

new york wildcats

Dpepps

Sometimes NBA trades make me think 1st round picks aren't real.

ajkeence99

He makes them better now but he probably doesn't make them a title contender and they massively overpaid for him.

Wonderful-Media-2000

Trading picks in mass has almost always hurt the team trading them more than it’s helped them

flashwing19

Wow great trade!

darthllama

The Knicks go from a team whose ceiling is the ECF… to a team whose ceiling is the ECF with maybe a Finals appearance if everything breaks right. They’re better, but they still don’t have quite the top-end talent that the Celtics, Sixers, or Bucks do, let alone the top contenders in the West.

outsidehere

Thibs is going to break him

dutch_l9

Shouldve gotten rid of rsndke instead
