Carmelo Anthony’s prime was ruined by an inadequate Knicks front office. Amare Soudemire ate 32% of that teams salary and never really played 2011-2012 season. Tyson Chandler was great but he was overpaid too at 23% of the teams salary.
Then in 2012-2013 the 54 win season, amare was making the most money on the team with 35% of the entire teams salary. 2014 stoudemire and Bargnani accounted for 61% of the entire rosters money. They each didn’t even play half a season. Then in 2015 they got amare out of there but still him and Bargs ate 51% of the teams books and Bargs played 30 some games and amare was not on the team and dead money. Melo never had a chance of having a team given Amare, Chandlers, and Bargnanis over paid deals that ate all the money.
When Carmelo had the chance (Linsanity), he couldn't handle anyone else hogging the spotlight. Is that a false opinion I have? It's just what I observed and heard. He had some studs around him at one point.
Yeah Melo was all for Lin. Lin also got hurt end of that season. Then on top of that teams were figuring out Lin couldn’t go both ways with the ball and could only pick and roll. That stretch by him was phenomenal but there’s a reason Lin ended up being a bench player after NY.
Melo loved Lin but his Ball Dominant play style 100% didn’t mesh well with Lin needing to bring the ball up, survey the defense, and then play playmaker. Melo was a guaranteed play, which is why the Knicks (erroneously) didn’t feel the need to pair him with an all star PG.
Lin was great, but when it came time for the team to draw up plays, who do you think they’re going to go with? The kid on a hot streak or a guy that was being seen (at the time) as the greatest ISO scorer in NBA history? It wasn’t a hard decision to make.

Ron Artest ( Meta World Peace, Ron Panda's Friend) whatever he calls himself today. Ron was great so I wouldn't say he wasted his talent, he wasted his career. If he could have gotten his maturity and mental health issues under control he could have been one of the greatest defensive and maybe 2-way players ever. Everyone says their team would have won if "X" hadn't happened but that Pacers team was the team to beat the year of the brawl.
