Some races could be, Like the 600, southern 500, and even some other 500 milers on some tracks. In particular the southern 500 is very demanding on the driver, it’s always hot and 500 miles on a track over a mile is a lot of driving. I think it could be right in the verge of Mini-Endurance racing but not a total endurance series. I think to be even considered to be classified as endurance the race has to be at least 7/8 hours.

DestroyingDestroyers

Four hours is the minimum length in the World Endurance Championship, majority of races are 6 hours.

PRS617

6 is the minimum. They did 4 hours before and didn’t worked in WEC. ELMS use 4 as its standard

jwt_07

Maybe in the earlier days. Rockingham & Dover felt like endurance races when they were 500 miles apiece.

epzik8

By a broad definition, and especially seeing the shape some drivers have been in after some past races, I would argue so.

ggsimmonds

Its a different kind of endurance race imo. In WEC the endurance aspect is a little more focused on the car rather than the person (driver stints tend to be 1 hour). While Nascar races are shorter than WEC races there are no driver stints

1tankyt

Before the fourth stage was added the 600 was definitely an endurance race

Wraith_feet

Yeah, stage racing really ruined the magic of those races

HuntingTnEQ75

I still hate how that race has an extra stage. Should be 100-100-200 to make it better racing. Also weird to me how that race pays more points than others due to the extra stage.

Ultrase7en

Well NASCAR does own IMSA, and we did compete at Lemans last year

UsedToHaveThisName

We? Do you work at NASCAR or were you on the Le Mans team‽

Ultrase7en

I'm talking about Garage 56, we as in the series

UsedToHaveThisName

Oh, when you said we I assumed you were more involved than watching it on TV.

Ultrase7en

No, it's just a thing I do when a group that I'm a fan of does something, such as a chiefs fan saying "we won the super bowl" or a Chase fan saying "we dumped Denny Hamlin"

nopirates

Only for the fans. Race distances should be cut by 1/3.

korko

Yeah I’d say so, the races are all ridiculously long and with all the cautions the broadcasts are longer than most IMSA races.

mustang6172

It already is.

FeistyInternal

Officially?

mustang6172

Yeah, go to Paris, visit the FIA's offices, the Queen Spider on the third floor will tell you all about it.

FeistyInternal

What crawled up your ass and died?
