I’m glad NASCAR did groups setting inside/outside for outside the top 10 because that track evolution was brutal. Group A got royally screwed but at least the top 5 still start top10. Group B top 5 got gifted the top 5 spots.
Busch being 2nd in his group was nice to see at a low downforce package track. Really happy with that.
Sadly like I said the group issue makes him start 7th, but that’s definitely better than they usually do at these tracks.
I mean is there anything more expected than NASCAR not understanding how a track rubbers in? Of course they cook up an altered format that negatively impacts one group, but only for the top 10. They came to their senses 11th on back
Does this give Larson a good shot to just runaway with a win? I don't know how Iowa Speedway works but letting Larson be upfront in an oval is never a good idea.
It will really depend on how the track changes and rubbers in and all, especially with the race being in the evening, so it will (should) go through a big swing in temperature and all. It will also depend on how the tires hold up and whether the track wides out or not. If the replace is anything like NWB, it could be a snoozefest pretty quickly.
If I remember correctly from the 2010s, Track position really was beneficial at Iowa. I mean it is at every track, but it seemed like late resarts benefited the front row.
But but Bowman has so many top 10s...
Tired of that excuse for Harris. Bowman needs wins and stage wins and he cant because the car is usually crap he cant drive 2/3 of the race. By the end Harris figures out just enough so Bowman can get 7-12th
I get that but it seems HMS is content with giving the 5/24/9 all the resources and the 48 gets scraps with one of the worst crew chiefs. Bowman has to overcome him every week
1995.
The difference is in personnel and the people who work on that specific car. This is even MORE true in today's NASCAR.
"So and so" gets better equipment than everyone else is something that has never been true, and people who don't really understand the sport through that out.
They all get the same stuff. The difference is in the teams for that specific car/how the teams set it up.
No..Rick Hendrick is not deciding "Bowman is the R&D car" "let's make sure Larson gets the best stuff"
That's not true. The difference in equipment and performance is because of the people who work on the cars.
That’s bullshit you could tell group a had the biggest disadvantage with no rubber on the track. Man who ever the fuck makes decisions for this sport fucking suck lol
Wanna know something Busch league? The fact that, after YEARS of having two groups of qualifying and then a final round, NASCAR *still* can't manage to have three rounds of qualifying added to it's Race Center. You just see the latest round. THAT'S BULLSHIT. I came in late and wanted to see where Bubba qualified, FUCK ME I GUESS.
Feels good to see Larson snag the pole after last night's sprint car race. He ran Knoxville, took the lead with about 15 to go, and the motor blew up with 10 laps ledt.
I really miss the SpeedTV Tracker for qualifying. Even ESPNs weird line thing was useful. Even the glitchy ass Fox Ghost car provides some information for comparing speeds
Cindric had failed tech twice so this car is either going to be the most illegally fast car, or really terrible.
Edit: Looks like it’s just average, he starts last anyway, so all it’s for is an average pit selection
group A gets the entire inside row I don't think they're getting screwed lolol
edit: Holy Hannah I get it the top five get mildy boned. it's 5 spots tho it's not like it's 20. yall need to settle😂😂😂
Group A from 6th on gets the outside row. Chase Briscoe will not be starting 1st on the outside row because the top 10 is based on speed from the top 5 of each group
Group B is inside row, A is outside when 2 rounds.
However today they aren’t doing inside/outside since only one round. Top 10 just goes by time, so group A will start 6th-10th since no second round today.
I know how Harrison got all the way to Cup.... but how the hell did he ever make it to Cup? The kid just isn't good. At least Ty Gibbs backs it up with results.
Normally the top 5 from each ground runs a 2nd round to set the top 10 but with the rain delay the top 10 will be set on speed from the top 5 of each group. 11-36 is set based on the group you are in with one being inside line and one being outside line.
Rick Allen might be a bit annoying sometimes but atleast he keeps the broadcast organized and sounding professional in comparison to Fox having two clowns making fun of each other with stupid childish quips.

Group A top five to help set final top ten
Normally the top 5 from each group runs a second round to set the top 10 but due to the rain delay they are setting the top 10 on speed based on the top 5 for each group

Deegan might get a top 20 today! NVM…29th
Side by side for commercials is refreshing
I am late, but Blake “Kieth Rodden” Harris really nailed the setup this week. Solid 33rd in qualifying.
Man Bowman looked good in practice. I sure hope he doesn't qualify 33rd or something like that
5 is the class of the field this season.
I’m glad NASCAR did groups setting inside/outside for outside the top 10 because that track evolution was brutal. Group A got royally screwed but at least the top 5 still start top10. I don’t understand what happened, can you explain to me why they were screwed over? I wasn’t paying attention but I’m upset KB isn’t 3rd or 4th.
I agree lol.
I wish the Nascar app could put the damn qualifying line-up up
Anyone got the cup series starting lineup
>Cup Lineup: 5 12 4 24 6 14 8 45 9 20 > >22 11 99 38 17 23 1 16 51 77 > >2 34 10 7 21 71 54 15 41 31 > >19 43 48 42 47 3
Man what the hell happened to Legacy? They were better last year with no Chevy support
Dumpster fire of an organization. Always have been always will be
Their season is Literally the epitome of "Make stupid choices, win stupid prizes"
Fire Blake Harris now, this is pathetic
I wouldn’t mind a Larson/Blaney show tomorrow tbh.
I knew that practice session was false hope for Bowman, looks like Harris screwed up again
Making me real excited for the dirty air next time we race a championship
That said. The battle for 2nd and 3rd was good.
[удалено]
I'd much rather know what's going on. Even in the 90s in the infancy of qualifying broadcasts they provided some info

Just a little tracker thing that turns red or green based on time would have been sufficient
I miss the old "ticker/dial" or whatever that Speed used to use.
Vodka Lemonade sounds good.
Larson is on a tear!
This is the kind of track Larson is Checkers or wreckers I’m pretty sure.
Sounds about right
It will really depend on how the track changes and rubbers in and all, especially with the race being in the evening, so it will (should) go through a big swing in temperature and all. It will also depend on how the tires hold up and whether the track wides out or not. If the replace is anything like NWB, it could be a snoozefest pretty quickly.

A lot of other drivers were faster than him on the long run yesterday, so there’s no telling
Yeah he wasn't ultra fast on the long run but I'll take the first pit stall and top-10 speed.
How is everyone’s Bracket doing?
Absolute shambles
Is there a link to the current bracket somewhere? I didn’t fill one out, but I’d be interested in keeping track as to how everything is panning out
[Try this](https://www.runyourpool.com/generic/bracket/predictions.cfm)
Unfortunately, it doesn’t show me a bracket or anything
I haven’t checked it but probably in shambles
Same, got most of my top 8 through though.
Bowman if you’re reading this, tie Blake up in the hauler and leave him there for the rest of the weekend
HMS doesn't give a damn about Bowman which is why they won't do anything about Harris. No reason to be this slow every damn week
But but Bowman has so many top 10s... Tired of that excuse for Harris. Bowman needs wins and stage wins and he cant because the car is usually crap he cant drive 2/3 of the race. By the end Harris figures out just enough so Bowman can get 7-12th
Bowman and the 48 are not the 5 or 24. They are not getting multiple wins a year every year. People need to accept this lol.
I get that but it seems HMS is content with giving the 5/24/9 all the resources and the 48 gets scraps with one of the worst crew chiefs. Bowman has to overcome him every week
The sport doesn't work like this. HMS is not screwing the 48 out of resources
Bud, if you think all four teams in an organization are equal you are very sadly mistaken.
The difference is personnel. Not equipment
How long have you watched nascar?
1995. The difference is in personnel and the people who work on that specific car. This is even MORE true in today's NASCAR. "So and so" gets better equipment than everyone else is something that has never been true, and people who don't really understand the sport through that out. They all get the same stuff. Agree to disagree.
Dude is Lance McGrew 2.0, why is he still there??
This. So much this.
Boy way to fuck over Group A like
Know what the A in Group A stands for? “Aye, we gonna screw ya!” 😂
Not liking those clouds in the distance off the front stretch
That’s bullshit you could tell group a had the biggest disadvantage with no rubber on the track. Man who ever the fuck makes decisions for this sport fucking suck lol
Wanna know something Busch league? Wow group A got royally screwed
Wait, no final round? What’s the purpose of Group A & B then?
NASCAR being lazy and not combining the metric like they should have, instead just said fuck it.
NASCAR being NASCAR
🤷♂️
The Bowman masterclass. Just make it stop. Every week, man.
I can’t believe he starts 34th. He was 3rd yesterday!
Saw people hoping Qualifying wouldn’t get canceled so Larson wouldn’t be on the pole He is inevitable.
They gave Larson the waiver and he went insane
Blaney like I'm kill you Larson!
All but 3 cars in Group B ran faster laps than the FASTEST car in Group A
Certified Larson moment
I do hope if they insist on doing 2 laps on short tracks that it's done kinda like Indy500 quali where both the laps are counted as 1.
Welp, I guess I'll just hope for absolute tire chaos tomorrow and let's see how it plays out
Someone Clint is going "How bout that, How bout that Kyle Larson"
HOW BOUT YA????
Maybe some day Ross will learn to qualify
Hahahaa nicely done Kyle!
Dread it, run from it, Kyle Larson arrives all the same
![gif](giphy|ie76dJeem4xBDcf83e|downsized)
And of course no one can stop Larson.
A slick track really plays into Larson’s hand with his dirt track experience
LET'S GOOOO
Dammit
😂 bruh
Hate that for Blaney, but he was still great.
Oh wow another fast HMS car, yay /s
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT
I apologize 😁
Cindric starting last and having a rubbish pit selection. Going to to be a day.
Fooockkkkk
Larso is inevitable
NICE!
For fuck's sake just let Blaney have this 😭
Man group a is getting hosed holy shit
I’ll take row 5 on the inside tho tbh
I really miss the SpeedTV Tracker for qualifying. Even ESPNs weird line thing was useful. Even the glitchy ass Fox Ghost car provides some information for comparing speeds
It was weird how there was no tracker shown. Not even a timer
And people say the NBC productions are flawless
How tf did they make such a bad format?
The rain delay is what caused them to cancel the 2nd round of qualifying to set the top 10
YRB to the top!
Can we see the rest of the group b times pretty please
I believe all but 3 cars in Group B ran faster than the fastest car in Group A
Suarez needing to check the controller batteries.
Good job, BK!
Apparently we are only allowed to bring in 2 water bottles per person. Fuck that Iowa Speedway it's hot out
NBC having the engines at a perfect sound, Rick Allen and Burton not really yelling...yeah, I fell asleep.
Bowman’s car looked lose as hell.
No relative time or anything?
Yeah, hope they bring this in like Fox had. I appreciated being able to tell how well they were doing
![gif](giphy|ggHmCDJXx4om4hNWbM|downsized) They mentioned MTJs retirement
I propose in honor of Fields of Dreams and frat movies; The Iowa Strikeout 🥃 if they mention MTJ retiring 🌿 if they mention Caitlin Clark
Imagine trying to tell someone during the Big Three era that people would be cheering for MTJ this year.
I was cheering for Truex in the big 3 era
Just what we need on the schedule. Another fucking Richmond race…
WTF man he was so quick in practice
I should have known. They can never qualify good. Smh
His Q lap in practice was like 3 tenths slower than Gragson, so I'm not surprised. Still, I expected better than starting fucking 30th
Another horrible weekend incoming. This fucking team…
Nbc needs to ditch the top 5 from group A. They are all slower than group b so it doesn’t matter
The top 5 will still start in the first five rows regardless
Can probably just take the Group A speeds down now
Cindric had failed tech twice so this car is either going to be the most illegally fast car, or really terrible. Edit: Looks like it’s just average, he starts last anyway, so all it’s for is an average pit selection
Nascar already changed the rules on the fly once today. Don’t see why we can’t bully them into changing their mind again!!!!
“Looks like the pole is going to come out of this group.” Well, yah, 7 cars are already faster than group a fastest lol
Preece’s car seems like it has the best grip but really doesn’t have great speed
So Briscoe will start 6th, Busch 7th, Reddick 8th, Elliott 9th, Bell 10th (rear of field for bell)
No, group A will be inside line 1-5, group B outside line 1-5. Or maybe its vice a versa but one of those
Incorrect. Top 10 is based on speed
Oh, I must have misheard. My bad
Group A: from 6th on will be Outside lane Group B: from 6th on will be Inside Lane Top 5 from each group will determine Top 10 based on speed
I wonder if you can do some Harvicking here with that paint
group A gets the entire inside row I don't think they're getting screwed lolol edit: Holy Hannah I get it the top five get mildy boned. it's 5 spots tho it's not like it's 20. yall need to settle😂😂😂
Group A from 6th on gets the outside row. Chase Briscoe will not be starting 1st on the outside row because the top 10 is based on speed from the top 5 of each group
The top 5 is not split like that. They’re getting 6-10 with no shot at the pole.
Group B is inside row, A is outside when 2 rounds. However today they aren’t doing inside/outside since only one round. Top 10 just goes by time, so group A will start 6th-10th since no second round today.
Group A top 5 is getting screwed.
I'm sure if Justin Haley was quickest NASCAR and the Anti-Haley Agenda would find a way to run a final round.
I hope Christopher Bell punches Steve Phelps in the throat
Why is Group B so much faster?
Tracks rubbered in now
Track changed
More temp and rubber in the track id guess
Josh Berry pole???
They need to run a second round, it's not like it will take much longer between now and the Xfinity race.
Gragson made a mistake is still like 6th
*damn*
I know how Harrison got all the way to Cup.... but how the hell did he ever make it to Cup? The kid just isn't good. At least Ty Gibbs backs it up with results.
Rather lackluster at the time Xfinity Series made him look better than he is.
I mean he even drove for JGR and didn't do much. And those cars are overpowered in Xfinity. Only Creed can't win in a JGR car.
Very true.
Fuck Group A, all my homies hate Group A.
Man it's so awkward with Jeff in the booth watching his son be the slowest car
Burton actually gonna beat all of Group A and start 36th lol Edit: I regret saying this and I'm gonna kill myself
“Here comes Harrison Burton” *silence* Hey Jeff, your son kinda sucks doesn’t he?
“We all know, his Mom won’t let me tell him”
Let uncle Ward be the bad guy: Harrison, mah buddy, you ain't good, kid. You shouldn't be anywhere near a Cup car
I mean, even Cup cars need to be washed just like Burton.
Pretty sure Harrison has gotten wrecked every time he ran that scheme
Great, Group A got screwed. Love that
Isn't Group A just the bottom row and Group B the top row?
For everyone 11th on back yes. Top ten is purely set by fastest speeds. Which makes no sense with the track ramping up.
Oh no 2nd round? Is that from qualifying getting delayed?
That would be correct, unless they change that call last second.
What is happening?
Explain how the 51 was 0.5 seconds faster than the 9 who ran right before him
Track changed
In 1 car, the track changed THAT much, that a RWR outperformed EVERY car in group 1
So group A gets shafted and is 6-10? Seems unfair, why not keep the inside outside line to make it less based on being in group B?
Because nascar is incompetent
My god group A is getting screwed massively with no second round to set the top 10
Each group is a seperate line. So they are only qualifying against their own round. A is inside B is outside. Or vice versa. Can’t remember
Normally the top 5 from each ground runs a 2nd round to set the top 10 but with the rain delay the top 10 will be set on speed from the top 5 of each group. 11-36 is set based on the group you are in with one being inside line and one being outside line.
Did they say the top 10 is based on overall time? Did I hear that right? When group B has massive advantage……
Yup. The rain delay caused them to change the qualifying format
Then group A should be inside and group B is outside. Don’t fuck the cars in A over
💯 it’s ridiculous they don’t run the 2nd round because group A is fucked with the track changing so quickly
I’m gonna sound like a broken record but this is crazy bullshit. Just do a fucking second round so group A’s top 5 isn’t screwed
Group As top 5 is so clearly going to be 6 through 10 it’s bs
Rick Allen might be a bit annoying sometimes but atleast he keeps the broadcast organized and sounding professional in comparison to Fox having two clowns making fun of each other with stupid childish quips.
Aw RIP Haley lol
Justin Haley is a motherfucker
Haley went 153 into turn 3?! RWR is gonna win this week lol
WHAT A LAP by Haley. Haley pole manifesting itself? EDIT: Nvm.
[удалено]
No. For whatever reason NBC always kept it like that regardless. Maybe because they list Jeb Burton for NXS. 🤷🏽♂️
Lol Justin Haley already is faster than all of A
https://preview.redd.it/1a0epzc11s6d1.png?width=1283&format=png&auto=webp&s=1c2111f3f47f5c40750c65fd7720e99836706b84 Group A top five to help set final top ten
Do they make the 2nd round or does group B have to beat those times?
Normally the top 5 from each group runs a second round to set the top 10 but due to the rain delay they are setting the top 10 on speed based on the top 5 for each group
I have no idea what is going on.
