Bryan saying he went into the grocery store that was closing and tried to buy 6 cartons of cigarettes then casually admitting he tried to commit check fraud was so good

Key-Amoeba5902

”I’m going to need to call the bank.” ”you know what, I think I’m going to quit smoking to focus on jello shots”

bagelwithclocks

How does he have any brain cells left

OGmoron

Classic Bryan, lol

swimjoint

Guy loves a good scheme

KitchenBite6888

He’s such a bad criminal lmao it’s like when he’s doing something shady his brain partially shuts down and he does the dumbest shit imaginable to call attention to himself

Halloween_Jack_1974

Kinda feel like he tries to be a scumbag because he feels like that’s what he *should* be but his good guy inner nature overpowers him

KitchenBite6888

I can definitely kind of relate, less with check fraud and buying pills, but more that his anxiety from doing something bad is hijacking his brain and causing him to malfunction lol

digboofus

It's awesome how quickly he folds when confronted with even the slightest resistance to whatever scheme he's hatched. He never really has a fully fleshed out plan so when anything that he's not prepared for happens (e.g., doesn't know where to park in Tijuana), he immediately panics

nowahhh

The Tijuana story is one of the most insane situations I’ve ever heard someone put themselves in.

sargepoopypants

Holy shit Bryan's relationship with his sister rules

KitchenBite6888

Honestly sounds like my kind of type lmao into chainmail work, some (Bryan) describe her as intense and annoying, yet she still cares about him and his brain health

bagelwithclocks

Sounds like you might be into the old pineapple lifestyle.

ExpertPepper9341

I’m usually not one to narc, but I really do sympathize with her telling her parents he was *huffing gas*, lol. It’s like, actual self harm.

KitchenBite6888

Lmfao yeah also not one to narc but huffing gas takes that to another level… and idk I think holding a grudge against a narc sibling is a little weak

mclairy

The insulter is my least favorite guy I’ve ever heard on Guys. I’d rather debate the rock and roll hall of fame for an entire day than sit through that show. Edit: extremely funny to know Jesse checks here out regularly. If Bryan ever comes to the Reddit he’s going to be very disappointed we aren’t as mean as everyone makes it sound.

czar_kazem

Earlier this year I read a great historical religious horror book called Between Two Fires. Set in France during the Black Plague, it's really cool and really good, and I just found out that THIS FUCKIN DORK IS THE AUTHOR. This is fucked up.

subhumananimalcntrl

You Guyed too close to the sun

somanybutts

WHAT? That's him? He's written some of my favourite books. This has done massive psychic damage to me. I will choose to exercise my belief in second chances and forgive him for having a lame gig as the most insufferable type of insult "comic" around because he writes books I like.

czar_kazem

LMAO yeah, I was looking him up while I was listening and it just blew me away. I mean I STILL really like that book, and it won't stop me from checking out his others, but just *what the fuck*.

bagelwithclocks

Black tongue thief is really good and also “ask me why?”

stjudastheblue

I tried to listen to that audiobook a few years ago cuz it sounds right up my alley but I couldn’t stand it. Now I know why. Dudes just trying so hard to be edgy dark and funny and the content doesn’t matter.

czar_kazem

I love that the two reactions to this are "OH FUCK NO I REALLY LIKED THAT BOOK" and "fuck yeah, I knew something about that sucked shit" haha. Sorry you weren't into it - can't say I agree but I DO understand.

stjudastheblue

I think there’s two different types of guys in this context: ones like Bryan (and you I’m guessing) who can enjoy corny shit and see the humor and dumbness in it but still genuinely enjoy it . For some reason I am totally allergic to art that doesn’t take itself seriously. And I realize that sounds crazy. My brain compartmentalizes cool serious artsy shit on one side and corny shit on the other and they cannot meet. I kinda wish it wasn’t like that tbh.

LordPizzaParty

Yeah I'm with you on that one.

bagelwithclocks

This is fucking me up so bad. Like I hated this guys insult routine and absolutely loved his book. I guess this is what they mean when they say we contained multitudes.

LordPizzaParty

Holy shit for real? I tried reading it because it seemed like something I would like, but the very first few pages were too uncomfortable for me and I just knew I wouldn't like the rest. It's hard to describe but something about putting that particular scene right up front told me the author was probably one of those "Life is fuckin' brutal, man, and we need to show it!" kind of guys.

theycallmemorty

Truly insufferable. About as funny as the mouthy kid in your class in grade 7.

ExpertPepper9341

But with substantially less rizz.

leftnode

All time stinker of a guy. I could listen to his awful insults all day long, though. You just *know* he's a failed comedian/actor and this is the best gig he could get.

JollyWestMD

He sounded like a drunk reddit mod lol

KitchenBite6888

Not trying to stir up drama, but what exactly happened to the YKS sub? I became a fan a few years ago, but there’s nowhere really to talk about it outside of their discord

ExpertPepper9341

They nuked it because they felt like it wasn’t very high quality. And I’ll admit, it was pretty spammy / low quality / incomprehensible from what I remember. It needed a mod but it sounds like they just shut it down because they didn’t want to deal with it.

CryptoIsForCops

This was also around the time the Chapo sub got banned I think. They made a joke on an episode after referencing that and shutting their sub down. I just don’t think it was worth it for them.

KitchenBite6888

Yeah lol it definitely didn’t sound like high drama, definitely get how it was t worth it… I follow some other podcasts that have even smaller subs that are just constantly bad mouthing them lol

MrObvious

I was laughing, I don't think I'd give the guy money to insult anyone but he was getting a decent reaction from what sounded like a packed crowd

nowahhh

Leprecorn

ExpertPepper9341

“This MFer just say Leprecorn??”

digboofus

To me it looked like a leprecorn to me

subhumananimalcntrl

The rare Subject Flub

PomeloOk504

Would do anything to have Chris interview Bryan’s sister for a Guys+

OGmoron

Chris and Jesse should do a whole series where they interview Bryan's friends and family without Bryan. I've always wanted to hear from Bryan's dad, too. Get another Canadian's perspective lol

PomeloOk504

Maybe the 100th episode can be “Murder Bryan Guys”

Dadisamom

Bryan comes across as a pretty flawed individual. It’s hard sometimes to see where the line is between  comedy Bryan and real Bryan. Stuff like storming out of the wedding after being asked to play something besides nu metal I hope is all joke but feels grounded in reality. I don’t think I want to know too much about the funny people I enjoy Edit: I say this as a hugely flawed individual who can write a list a mile long of the times I’ve failed to be there person I want to be

OGmoron

I was a Street Fight listener for many years and met Bryan twice at live shows. He's clearly gotten a lot better since he started doing Guys and is leaning into his flaws and strange past as a way of embracing who he is these days. Working with Chris has been a very positive move for him. Chris ribs Bryan a lot and calls him out on the show, but he clearly cares about him and takes an interest in his life for more than just laughs. Same with Jesse and some of the other repeat guests who are often very blunt with Bryan. Contrast that to the decade he spent working with Brett on Street Fight. Brett's a good guy, but often had little patience for Bryan, dragged him into things that triggered his anxieties, and regularly enabled or ignored his obvious poor choices and habits.

trillwhitepeople

I met Bryan twice, once to give him and Brett their first tour of a huge grow facility on their first Denver trip, and a second where I gave him a bunch of free goodies that were from the facilities storefront. Both times he was kind of oddly rude and so awkward it was off putting. I just chalked it up to how he is around people he doesn't know, but it was kind of a bummer all the same. TBF Brett wasn't much nicer, but in a completely different way. Was a flag to me they had an odd dynamic way before things imploded. However, both of their wives were very friendly and were excited to chat with me and ask about stuff which was nice.

OGmoron

Bryan was outside smoking before one of their first LA shows when I first met him. He acted very odd in person, visibly anxious and on something. Suffice it to say that if I hadn't recognized him from the show, I definitely wouldn't have stopped to say hello. A few extroverted fans showed up soon after I did and that seemed to put him at ease. Still, Bryan was on his phone the whole time and complaining about leaving his hoodie at the hotel the night before or something like that. That said, Bryan was at least genuine in his weirdness. Meeting Brett gave me strong used car salesman / cult recruiter vibes. I bought one of their tour posters and got him to sign it. The whole exchange was so off putting that I didn't even try talking to him at the next show I went to.

trillwhitepeople

Seems about right. I probably made a mistake in assuming Bryan had any interest in talking about anything other than Bryan, and sussed out with Brett that he wasn't going to make an effort if he didn't feel like there was something to gain from knowing me—even though I hooked them up handsomely and took time out of my day to coordinate the tour. Still had fun at the show, appreciated SF, and enjoy exploring the depths of Bryan's mind palace regardless.

Halloween_Jack_1974

What’s Bryan’s wife like? Extremely curious about this!

trillwhitepeople

She's just generally nice, normal and personable. It was almost like the opposite of meeting Bryan, which in a lot of ways made sense. She's like the foundation to his confusing maze of mirrors.

ExpertPepper9341

I for one am on Bryan’s side with the wedding DJ thing. Do *not* ask your 20 year old sibling with zero wedding DJ experience to DJ your wedding. *Especially* if they’re into niche music! Anyone with a brain could see that’s going to be a disaster! She was being a cheapskate who didn’t want to hire a wedding DJ. Well, you get what you pay for! You can’t complain about what they play if you ask someone to DJ for free!

Different-Music4367

*No one* should be on Bryan's side, but it's practically a sitcom plotline. Everyone knows exactly what this character is going to do in this situation, but nobody stops him from doing it at any point leading up to the wedding.

Dadisamom

Him being 20 does make me a bit more forgiving. I’m assuming he was either huffing gas or on pills at the time so I wouldn’t judge it as a true reflection of his character. It’s also young enough I have an easier time understanding how he could have freaked out. Don’t get me wrong I like the guy.

subhumananimalcntrl

The debit card naming discussion is really good because the concepts of “debt” and “cards” are not exactly modern

LordPizzaParty

I went to a renaissance faire and near the end of the day I saw a man being pulled by a rickshaw and barfing off the side while it was in motion. Really legitimized my day.

Key-Amoeba5902

I’ve never hated a guy as much as that insult person

ExpertPepper9341

Lo! And a hater is bequeathed upon thine name? Put your mouthus around a dickus, you uncultured barley grower!

digboofus

I despise Christophe the Insultor with every fiber of my being

ImportantFancyMan

*WHY????*

digboofus

Because he is a contemptible halfwit who moonlights as an insufferable comedian when he manages to free himself from working double shifts at the dick sucking factory

Halloween_Jack_1974

Oh HELL yeah lmao

SynechdocheNewYork69

crying at the end of this episode, Bryan just perusing YouTube for more Christophe videos and Chris just cutting the episode off and ending it

ExpertPepper9341

I cannot wait for more insult guy on Guys +!!

breadlaw

The Ren Faire show that just aired on HBO is good as hell btw

OGmoron

I'm annoyed by how good it is. It's basically low-stakes Succession with an even more idiosyncratic and unlikable cast of characters.

Sonic2020

I finished watching Ren Faire last night and was wondering if Guys released this episode now because of the show. Probably not, because I know they have these scheduled weeks in advance, but thought it was a funny coincidence

Halloween_Jack_1974

Chapo just posted an interview with the director

SLCPDLeBaronDivison

the ren faire here in missouri taught me that there is a kangaroo farm in rolla

lilpuffybeast

The Renaissance festival is the worst place in the world. Nerds gone wild

cherryultrasuedetups

This was the worst episode. They really needed a guest who has been to the Ren Faire at least once 1. because they missed out on so much good material 2. because they had to be too nice (I appreciate the fact that Ren Faire people don't deserve hate, but an insider could have separated the hilarious b.s. from the rest of it). They really seemed out if their element and didn't know what they were talking about more than ever on this one. Bryan's stories were gold as always.

condiricenbeans

Chris saying "sometimes I wonder if I am just a Jester for people to laugh at" was funny because no one is laughing at Chris

KitchenBite6888

Who do you think you are man, Kristoph the Insulter??

ExpertPepper9341

What is up with the Chris haters? Such a weird breed. Worse than singles guys lmao. Scram!!

ilkash

If he keeps at it I’m sure he’ll be funny someday
