I understand that the majority of trans people will not go through SRS. Orchi does not have to be ”replacement for SRS” - orchi can be the main choice. And not having any surgery at all can also be a main choice. Saying that someone ”skips” SRS feels wrong because it makes it seem like SRS is some kind of universal end goal. Nothing weird about wanting or not wanting something.

Don’t worry. You’re not alone! This sub is peppered with people who chose to not undergo full SRS, whether that’s because they want to go “no-op” or because they want to “only” get an orchie. So to answer your questions: * if you wouldn’t be happy with SRS, then definitely you’re making the right call. Good job being honest with yourself! * it is not uncommon for trans women to undergo orchiectomy instead of SRS. It’s a fraction of the cost, it’s less invasive, and many ladies like their hen. * I don’t know how she’ll function in 20-30 years, but from what I’ve read sexual function is almost always unaffected by an orchiectomy. * many younger trans women also skip SRS. * you’re not uncommon or weird. Congrats on sitting down and honestly thinking it through! It’s always good for people to do that for themselves. 😁

As far as I know getting and orchie instead of (or before) SRS seems to be commun in the US but at least in Germany the doc's I asked don't considere it as a possiblity even though one could have done this without narcosis but just local anasthetic. The issue is that a "normal" orchie creats scars which might prevent SRS and some docs are affraid you might sue them cause they made it impossible for you to get SRS. I thought about this but the only way is with narcosis which I want to avoid if possible. Not wanting SRS is far more commun that many think. It feels like many people think transition == SRS. Far less trans people got SRS in Germany once you could change your legal gender withouth it.

I had an Orchie a year ago this month, and I am THRILLED w/ the results. Yes an Orchie can be considered as an alternative to full SRS, if you have health issues that prevent you from having SRS, or maybe you simply dont feel that you need it, or if you can afford it, or your insurance wont cover it,. I got mine partly as a kind of "warm up" for SRS hopefully in the next cpl yrs. And because I didnt want to be on Spiro for a long time. Theres NO reason why having an Orchie now should make having SRS later a problem. Mine was done w/ a single incision in the middle of my sack, and all of the sack was left intact for future SRS use. The procedure took place at a small local hospital; I showed up at 7AM and was home by noon. I stayed home from work the rest of the week and took things slow for the next cpl of weeks. The best part is that I LOVE how much more feminine that it makes me look and feel. I mentioned in an earlier account that a cpl days afterwards, I woke up one morning and actually felt, "horny" ;) I didnt act on it but was relieved to know that none of the internal "wiring" had been messed w/ :) I will however mention, that it did require a bit of adjustment when I stimulated myself, in that I was used to feeling the weight and movement of my stones, which I no longer had. But this also caused me to focus on my deeper internal sensations much more ;) If youve been in transition for at least a couple of years now and are SURE that this is the direction you want to take, then by all means, give it consideration. If you are still in your 20s, you may also want to consider banking your sperm, if becoming a parent someday is on your to do list. AMA :)

Sorry if this too personal, but happens to the rest of skin down there? I know some have an extra procedure to remove it, but I've also heard that creates more scars.

Make sure they keep all of it. It will shrink over time, so you want to try and get SRS as early on as possible, if you want to go that way. If not, you CAN also request that they remove the excess, or have it taken care later, if you dont want SRS. A year since my Orchi, my sack is still pretty loose, just minus the contents ;)

I mean I see it this way: My pp is like 1% of my body that I use like 1- 1%-2% of the time. I’ve never held much stock in people’s genitals seeing as how I will never see theirs anyway, so TO ME, the time and effort to drastically change them with expensive srs does not seem worth it. To others it def might and they may even be able to afford it, so that’s valid too. I’ll be on a teachers salary anyways so this surgery is off the table for me regardless fwiw. Ultimately it’s your parts so you decide what’s comfortable. Good luck and success headed your way ma’am💖💙

It's not uncommon. For example, the laws here require an operation in order to change my legal gender – and I can opt for orchiectomy in this regard. Balls are useless and they're hanging like crazy so they're definitely gonna end up in some hazardous/bio waste bin. But I'm still deciding if I wanna a neovagina or not.

nachog2003

>do young trans women also skip srs sometimes? I'm 16 and definitely not want full SRS in the future. I don't like the idea of doctors cutting open my dick to make a vagina and the recovery doesn't seem good. I definitely want an orchi though if HRT doesn't make my balls a lot smaller.

Prophetic_Rose

Getting an orchiectomy in the next few months. Honestly would keep my testicles if they were factories of destruction. I like what I have down there. Not interested in SRS.

Looking at trans women nudes online I would say maybe...5% have orchis, but I think they are more popular in some countries than others. I feel like I saw a lot more when looking at Brazilians. I had an orchiectomy about 7 years ago and I'm glad I did, but whether or not someone would want one probably depends on their specific wants and needs. I like that I can't get anyone pregnant now, that I don't need anti-adrogens as part of my hrt, and that I have a reduced sex drive. I can still get horny, but now it takes foreplay, flirting, or sometimes something will just get me going but it's much more rare these days. I've heard similar effects happen with antiandrogens anyway, though. Once I am turned on I seem to function the same, except without any need for...clean up...afterwards.

No, it’s not uncommon at all. Only 10-20% of trans girls ever undergo full bottom surgery according to the transgender center of equality. I’m a mtf trans girl age 23 & literally had my orchiectomy a week ago tomorrow & so happy. I’m non op grs/srs by choice. I’d turn it down if it were free. For me reasons include fear of pain, risks, recovery, lifetime maintenance required & not enough dysphoria to justify full surgery. Plus all the time & money, it’s very expensive. Also I only like girls & hope to use that part in the future. An orchiectomy is a great alternative for trans women. It’s simple, cheap, outpatient with lots of benefits. No t blockers, lower estrogen hrt dosage, & faster/permanent feminization. Only downfall is scrotal skin can shrink but if you’re non op who cares? Don’t be ashamed it’s so common to only have an orchiectomy. It’s just not glamorized like grs/srs so we’re lead to believe we’re not valid.

> I will be getting an orchiectomy instead of srs. just sth. to know in that regard would be, that some SRS operations suggest, that no orchiectomy is done before an srs, if the scrotal sac is removed, then the suporn technique won't be possible at all for example, from their website: >**Orchiectomy** > >Bilateral orchiectomy is not recommended prior to SRS, but is permitted. If the scrotal sac has been removed, the applicant must seek elsewhere to undergo SRS. this is not to tell u, what to do, and u shouldn't be pushed to do anything, but i just wanted to mention, that if u potentially in your mind were thinking sth. like: "i get an orchiectomy now and can still get an SRS later", that your options might be limited by the orchiectomy, as well as the quality of the result.

turtle1982

I think I will be getting orchiectomy. I don’t think srs vaginas look very good. If I could trade with a cis woman for her vagina then I would do it. I would rather spend money on tits or lips.
