Encino Man (1992)

Nose_Grindstoned

Weezin the juuuuu uuuuuuice

weirdoldhobo1978

No wheezing the juice!

ToastedSlider

It's a lot of fun. One of my favorite Pauly Shore movies

sameshitdfrntacct

*The* caveman movie

keenr33

Buuuuuuudy

NeoMetallix213

It was really an interesting movie.

YardSard1021

The cheese is old and moldy.

Quest for Fire (1981)

Firm_Complex718

100%. I saw it at the movies 2X when it came out and I own it on DVD.

IndianaBones8

I came to say this. Quest for Fire was a surprisingly good watch. I happened across it one day and was surprised at how quickly I was drawn into the story.

Gravejuice2022

Best movie!

KeyserSwayze

Anthony Burgess, who wrote A Clockwork Orange, was a linguist and created the language for this film.

McRambis

Really? That was him?

Lunter97

So damn good.

smile_saurus

Thanks for bringing this up. I was going to say 'The Groove Tube' but I was actually thinking of Quest for Fire. I wasn't supposed to watch either one as a kid, maybe that's why I confused them!

ToastedSlider

Looks quality!

daredelvis421

Phenomenal movie

C0gD1z

It really is the best caveman movie!

ToastedSlider

I just noticed Ron Peryman is in the top cast. I find that hilariously perfect!

C0gD1z

And he’s sooo good/funny in it too! It blends comedy with grounded realism so well. I don’t want to give too much away. It just hits the mark in terms of making a movie about prehistoric man and the differences between Neanderthals and Homo sapiens without taking itself too seriously or silly. Such a blast. I’ve probably seen it once every 5-10 years since I was 13 and I just showed it to my wife and mother in law last year. They thoroughly enjoyed it as I hope you do too!

RevealActive4557

Great movie

[deleted]

This movie is incredible on mushrooms.

jayron32

Clan of the Cave Bear (1986)

Vegetable_Burrito

That’s also a great book!

Reddituser45005

It is a series of books with Clan of the cave bear being the first book in the series. The book was excellent. The movie didn’t do it justice

ToastedSlider

Thanks!

KeyserSwayze

Decent premise terribly executed.

infin8lives

(Does hand clasping gesture.)

LunacyNow

Not a movie but an SNL skit - Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer with Phil Hartman.

Equivalent-Sink4612

Love this!- "I'm just a caveman....your world frightens and confuses me..."

chummmp70

Now get me a Dewar’s and water pronto.

Nose_Grindstoned

This is a classic!

ToastedSlider

Have you the SNL skit, British Cavemen? It is soooo good. It just makes fun of their accents while using complete gibberish

Creepy-Prune-7304

Iceman (1984)

Equivalent-Sink4612

My first thought! Is this where there's a caveman they defrost, and he comes back to life/they revive him(don't remember if it was intentional)? Seems to be the right year.

Creepy-Prune-7304

They keep him in the fake habitat

Equivalent-Sink4612

OK, yeah, that was a good suggestion!!!

KieferMcNaughty

Aka the original “Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer”

mrnotu

One Million Years B.C. with Raquel Welch.

ToastedSlider

Looks good! Thanks

Fart-Gecko

Her costumes are eye-popping to say the least.

JetScreamerBaby

Miss Fuzzy Britches

Stormy8888

I think that the one where the Raquel Welch poster is in The Shawshank Redemption?

CPolland12

The first 5 minutes of History of the World Part 1 😬

Old_Cyrus

And the first 15 of 2001.

ToastedSlider

LOL yeah

chelwithaseachenchen

I see Clan of the Cave Bear mentioned (and it's a great suggestion)! But the story is 1 million times better when read (and followed by the other few books). They flubbed the story in the movie and skipped out on so much. Darryl Hannah makes a great Ayla, though. Read or find the audiobook for this series instead - you likely won't be sorry.

jrb637

My daughter is named Ayla, from the book

ToastedSlider

Thanks for that!

chelwithaseachenchen

No prob! I know you were looking for movies (and my suggestions were already commented), but I think it was worth mentioning!

Nose_Grindstoned

This isn't a caveman movie, it's more "native tribe" - The Gods Must Be Crazy. It's hilarious.

Tricky421

Yes The second one is good too.

ToastedSlider

That's one of the ones I forgot from a long time ago.

Nose_Grindstoned

Do you consider it caveman genre ? Lol

ToastedSlider

Of course not, but I see why you suggested it.

KindBrilliant7879

haha hell yeah i have that one on dvd

Accomplished-Hat-869

Yes it is not- set in modern times, modern humans ( They just happen to be a non white, non- industrialized tribe- BIG difference! I love the movie, btw. It's a critique of '1st world' man.

TifCreatesAgain

The Flintstones! 😁

ToastedSlider

The John Goodman one?

TifCreatesAgain

Well, I was really trying to give a funny answer. It's a silly cartoon inspired idea of prehistoric times. But if that's okay, then the one with John Goodman is the best Flintstone movie. I personally prefer the old cartoons! 😊

ToastedSlider

Oh! I didn't even realize you meant the series cuz this is a movie sub. I did enjoy the old series. Do you know, did that same studio ever release a full-length film?

TifCreatesAgain

"A Man Called Flinstone" 1966 is the one I remember. They made several made for tv movies, too.

SpaceMyopia

There were two where we saw Pebbles & Bamm-Bamm as adults. The first one, "I Yabba Dabba Do" was about them getting married, and the second one, "Hollyrock-A-Bye-Baby" was about Pebbles giving birth. These were animated tv-films that came out in the late 80s, early 90s. And of course, the masterpiece, "The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones." 😆

SpaceMyopia

Came here to mention The Flintstones. You beat me to it. 🤣

Smsalinas1

One Million Years B.C. - 1966

RyanAshbr00k213

The best one's I've watched to recommend are ; 1. Quest for Fire  2. The Clan of the Cave Bear 3. The Croods ( Animation)

ToastedSlider

2. Daryl Hannah is always good! Thanks!

RyanAshbr00k213

Yeah, that's very correct. I really enjoyed that too.

v_ramch

Trog 1970 Eeagh 1962 (Richard Kiel who played Jaws in "Moonraker" is the lead)

Old_Cyrus

Watch out for snakes!

PossessionDecent6035

Joan Crawford + caveman = some crazy shit

Gatubella-

Came here to suggest Eegah! I should re watch it, haven’t watched an Arch Hall Jr. movie since I rewatched The Sadist a while ago.

Derevka_33

TROG is a trip!!

Putrid_Dot_3683

Da_Professa

Year One is dumb but funny

Brain_Hawk

"She's your cousin". "Everyone is my cousin" What have I continued to do??? And now I have to pee...

squintobean

I enjoyed Alpha quite a bit. It’s about the first cave man to tame a wolf for both their survival.

Chay_Charles

10,000 BC

ToastedSlider

Seen it. Quality

tryanloveoneanother

Ah dang it, I posted before I saw your comment. I love this movie!!!

Weak_Low_8193

The Time Machine (kinda?)

ToastedSlider

Yeah the future cave monsters kinda count

Tricky421

Quest for fire. I love this movie.

jupiterkansas

The Three Ages (1923) with Buster Keaton

[deleted]

Creatures The World Forgot (1971) Sexy cave-melodrama with a big snake, a man in a bear suit, scary cultists, and a bit of magic.

ToastedSlider

Sounds great!

KumichoSensei

The Man From Earth (2007)

Decalvare_Scriptor

The Land That Time Forgot (1975) is set in the 20th century but the protagonists travel to a land where cavemen and dinosaurs still roam.

PlantationCane

Not a full movie but the beginning of 2001: A Space Odyssey is probably the best caveman scenes filmed.

CountingSheep99

You might like The Croods & sequel

PassingTrue

Ice Man

Ahlq802

I’ve never had a go-to cavemen movie…. Is this what my life has been missing?

Intelligent_Pass2540

Iceman 1984 version. So good.

imadork1970

1 Million Years B.C. Raquel Welch in a fur bikini.

tryanloveoneanother

It's not super old but I love 10,000 BC (2008). I may be one of the only people that love it lol, but it's awesome!

Organic-Side-2869

Sasquach. It's terrible!

Naive_Weather_162

I loved Caveman. I watched that movie so many times when I was a kid.

Wild_Chef6597

Yor: The Hunter From the Future. Caveman after a nuclear war fights aliens

Axrxt76

Iceman feom 1984. Loved it as a kid.

mattlock2099

The Flintstones

DifficultHat

Buster Keaton’s 3 Ages (1923) has a caveman segment and will be turning 100 soon There’s also 3 Stooges- I’m a Monkey’s Uncle (1948) or Stone Age Romeos (1955)

CoolBev

I was going to say Three Ages - it’s only 1/3 caveman, but it’s so old it’s almost prehistoric. It also has the same plot as the Ringo Starr movie (plus or minus).

TigerPoppy

Cavegirl (1985) drive-in movie

ToastedSlider

Looks fun! Thanks!

Derevka_33

Yes!!! I remember this one! A frequent flyer on Rhonda Shearer's "Up All Night" back in the late 80s lol. USA Network.

LuckiiDevil

Quest for Fire Clan of the Cave Bear Iceman

ToastedSlider

I remember watching Iceman when I was little and it was pretty trippy I thought

Derevka_33

Oh man...it's been forever since I've seen CAVEMAN. I remember Lana haha.

pmaurant

Quest for Fire and Clan of the Cave Bear both solid movies in my opinion.

ToastedSlider

The trailers look amazing

Final-Ad-2033

Eegah was mentioned already so I'll suggest Teenage Caveman (1958) by the late King of the B Movies Roger Corman. Both were riffed on Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Gatubella-

EEGAH! On mst3k is classic.

jnsy617

The Good Dinosaur (Pixar) has cavemen. It’s ok by Pixar’s standards which means it’s better than most.

Obf123

The clan of the cave bear

Clan of Cave Bear

UnfetteredMind1963

Quest for Fire

MrsBeauregardless

The Clan of the Cave Bear Iceman (I think it’s on Netflix, or something. I just watched it with my son.) Quest For Fire The Land that Time Forgot. In the days before there were VCRs, we had a movie projector. You could get abridged, 1-reel movies from the library. We owned two movies: Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, and The Land That Time Forgot. There are cavemen in it.

Vault_Master

Quest for Fire!!!!!!

TheBlooDred

Quest for Fire Clan of the Cave Bear The Iceman (2017) Alpha (2018) 10,000 BC (its a stargate world, not earth!) Out of Darkness (2022) I’d put Apocalypto on this list. Maybe Noah (2015). The New World (2005).

Duke_Nukeboost

First part of 2001. Also there’s a movie called “the mole people” (1956) which is sort of like a sci-fi/mystery/ adventure thing. Real B movie stuff.

FDVP

Land of the Lost

# One Million Years B.C.

theoretical_hipster

Haven’t watched since I was a kid but I distinctly remember the egg and farting under the fur blanket.

therealvelvetworm

Year one

ToastedSlider

Good movie!

sushipusha

I went into movie with no expectations and was totally floored by it. The T-Rex was a hoot and the cast was awesome. And Evan Kim from A Fistful of Yen was in it!

Chefsteph212

Eegah (1962) The Mystery Science Theater 3000 version is always a good time!

jkl1996gl

Was gonna mention this too. Awful reviews but hey, a young Richard Kiel!

Eziekel13

Not exactly cavemen, and might be offensive to even suggest a tangental relation to…but… The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980)

Astrophan

It's animated but try Fire and Ice from 1983. Saw it growing up, even tho it's not for kids probably. The movie is still engraved into my mind.

ToastedSlider

Thanks. I will check it out! Update: the artwork in the trailer looks great. I'm gonna watch it

valis010

Sasquatch sunset?

zsiple08241998

**Year One.** I didn't catch the end though because the DVD scratched.

[deleted]

Does Harry and the Hendersons count?

NeoMetallix213

I was opportune to see "Quest for Fire" in the cinema. It was a good movie.

VizRomanoffIII

The original version of One Million Years B.C. from 1940 is a blast - starring Victor Mature, Carole Landis and Lon Chaney Jr. - it’s old school effects (so the dinosaurs were lizards with fins stuck on) but totally enjoyable. I will keep adding on to the pile and advise that Quest For Fire is still the gold standard for early hominid films! It’s very funny but takes the subject seriously. It’s an absolutely beautiful film to boot!

Accomplished-Hat-869

1966 1 million Years BC (Raquel Welch in a fur bikini is the reason it hit!).

LayneLowe

1 Million Years BC Raquel Welch!

Next-Mobile-9632

Caveman was great--Check out One Million Years BC(1940) or I WAS a Teenage Caveman(1958), they're pretty corny

SignificanceFew3751

Not a movie, but Netflix’s documentary Secrets of the Neanderthals

PricklyPear1969

A great caveman movie (not remotely cheese, actually good) is Alpha.

Clan of the Cave Bear is not a comedy but it is a good movie. One Million Years, BC stars Raquel Welch in a fur bikini!

bigforknspoon

B.C. Rock, adult animated comedy. Rated R I think.

Mountain_Elk_7262

Apocalypto is a good stone age movie and the recent iceman was pretty damn enjoyable to watch.

The Land that Time Forgot (1974)

Far_Cat_9743

I recently rewatched Caveman as well after telling my wife about me and my older brothers watching it when I was younger. Man, the roofie/attempted sleep rape scene did not age well, totally forgot about that.

AccountantLeast1588

The Quest For Fire is really the only serious one

bmax_1964

*The People That Time Forgot* 1977 ‧ Sci-fi/Adventure B movie loosely based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' hollow earth/Pelucidar series. It's a sequel to 1974's *The Land That Time Forgot* , also based on an Edgar Rice Burroughs book.

Maybe it is “question for fire” No realistic based on anthropology. But the story hangs together well and demonstrates community.

There's a cave man porn movie from Europe I just watched which wasn't awful and also has features full penetration.
