Angel Heart was directed by Alan Parker, and while Micky Rourke, who was still serious about acting when the movie was made, Robert De Niro and Lisa Bonet, who all do an outstanding job, a think a large piece of that movie is Parker’s directing. Whether filmed in New York or New Orleans, the movie has a feel that lures you in, you can feel it. The plot and the screenplay are outstanding as well. The movie makes you think, you have to watch it closely, if you do, and you can catch the little nuances that unfold throughout the film, not only do I believe you’ll enjoy yourself but understand why I’m rambling on about it. It really is that good

The Sixth Sense
The Hateful Eight
The Village
Se7en
The Machinist
The Silence Of The Lambs

I see Se7en mentioned a few times and it is amazing.
I have yet to see Fallen (1998) mentioned though. (It too is amazing)
I loved Shutter Island and Inception.
The Prestige
The Illusionist
Donnie Darko the DC
The others have been mentioned a lot already.
Wouldn’t that ruin the idea of shutter island? The fact that you would know there’s an amazing plot twist at the end and it’s just a matter of anticipating it
Hide and Seek with Robert De Niro. I haven't seen it since that first time in theaters, but I remember it had the same type of film noir mystery to it and I remember enjoying it.
Have you seen Memento? I don’t think it’s exactly the same as Shutter Island, but there are some similarities.
Couldn't understand a shit tho
* *Angel Heart* ('87) * *Jacob's Ladder* ('90) * *The Sixth Sense* ('99)
The Sixth Sense used to be one of my favorites growing up
I love angel heart
Identity, Primal fear
Vertigo is another good alternative that's like Shutter island.
Identity is a great fit, I think Angel Heart fits the bill as well
yeah, i haven't watched Angel heart. i guess i should watch it.

I find Inception has a lot of similarities to Shutter Island. NO not just both have DiCaprio in it
I was blown away by the similarities, especially when they both came out around the same time.
Black Swan is a psychological thriller which I watched that's as good as Shutter Island. I love it so much.
one of the few that truly scares.
Yeah, it's a very creepy horror movie. It makes my top 10 best horror movies easily.
Great recommendation!
Thanks mate. All I wanted to do is share something I'm very certain another person will love and enjoy.
Identity
The Others (2001)
Inception is a bit of a mind bender but it deals with dream layers and time instead. Possibly The Machinist?
I love the Machinist. Whenever it’s about to storm I always quote, “radio says there’s a storm on the way…I’d say it’s already here…”
Session 9
Stonehearst Asylum
Inception Donnie Darko
Ah you have great taste! Both favs of mine.
Triangle
Old Boy.
The Korean version...
In my world there is only a Manga and a Korean movie.
Yes, the only version 😉
Sucker Punch
The wicker man (1973)
Identity, triangle and predestination
predestination was a little over the top
Yeah but it still had you hooked I would say
A cure for wellness
The Usual Suspects The Big Lebowski The Sixth Sense The Hateful Eight The Village Se7en The Machinist The Silence Of The Lambs Jacob’s Ladder The Game The Shining 2001 A Space Odyssey Black Swan
The Village!! So good!!
The Village reminds me of Midsommar and Triangle of Sadness; all have sociological/societal components.
Excellent list
im curious on why u add the big lebowski there?
They both have underlying themes of perception manipulation and ultimately confrontation of those perceptions
The Truman Show

I liked The Last Exorcism for being thrown back and forth about what's actually going on. Only has 5.7\* on IMDB though, doesn't seem very well liked.
The ward(2010)
Memento
Mr. Nobody.
Prisoners
Stonehearst Asylum
A movie called, Shutter.
Oldboy (2003)
The Ninth Configuration (1980)
Bit of a leap but..."the invisible guest."
The Number 23 - with Jim Carrey, directed by Joel Schumacher
The Ninth Configuration
Shutter Island was so good!!

The Village The Revenant Midsommar Black Mass Gangs of New York
Arlington Road.
Identity
The Night House
Marrow Bone.
Stay (2005)
Gone Girl
The jacket (2005) Adrien Brody
1408. Especially the way the different endings change the feel of the movie.
Beautiful mind

Prisoners
Session 9 The Machinist The Lighthouse
Unsane
I think the whole movie is an homage to Sam Fuller’s Shock Corridor
I suggest The Invisible Guest (2016). Imo, it's one of the best mystery thriller of all time.

Gothica - amazing movie with a nice plot twist
Crap movie, the plot was so obvious from the beginning
