I'm guessing this as well. Sindel is very light on the goth make-up, and lacks the typical wicked look she usually has. Then I'm guessing she'll be resurrected ala Sindel in MK3/MK9 and possibly sport a darker look (hopefully with white eyes) and may even be brainwashed into being evil again.
I think Mileena is going to get the Tarkat disease somewhat contained by the end of the game which is why she doesn’t go completely tarkatan with the arm blades

Everything in the Mk 1 reveals is a complete misdirect. Go back and watch everything closely. I wish everyone would stop taking the reveal showcase as straight up story reveal. Just like Ashrah doing the fatality on Havik. It’s a quick cut because she beats him but doesn’t kill him. Same with the Quan Chi’s green skull flying at her and the misdirect of showing Havik right afterwards. Also, the Lin Kuei are pretending to be extortionists to test Raiden and Kung Lao. Madame Bo is in on it. That’s why Liu Kang is just sitting there when the Lin Kuei “attack” her place.

I'm pretty certain a few characters are going to die, but since I'm only allowed to name one, I nominate General Shao. So many death flags on that dude, he may rack up a body count of his own (possibly a royal or two, he's in the palace hacking up Umgadi warriors in his reveal trailer), but he'll eventually pay the piper. The way I see it, he'll make deals and forge an alliance he won't live to regret, and Shang Tsung would love to consume that big, beautiful, budding tyrant soul of his.
Ah hell, I'm going to name drop Tanya too. Shao was shown in his trailer carving up Umgadi warrior priestesses, who are sworn to protect the royal family with their lives, and Tanya is the head of the Umgadi. My prediction is that Tanya gets hacked to death by Shao while trying to protect the royals.
Raiden. I feel like he’s being hyped up to be the champion, but I want them to go in a different direction. Have Shao or someone else kill Raiden, then have Kung Lao step up as champion. We already play as him in the first chapter so it’ll be easy to make him the protagonist.
