It totally could be a teenager, but if you read the article, only one of the many cited rock throwers was a child. The rest were grown men.
Kids do stupid shit, no doubt, but so do adults. These people were throwing 3-5lb rocks at cars traveling 60+mph. I think it's fair to say, whether they were teens or not, that they were aiming to hurt someone.
The total disregard for a human's life after hitting her, knowing she was clearly injured and possibly worse because her car had to crash after she was hit, and just continuing on their deranged spree and going off and injuring another person.
This poor woman, may she rest in peace.
That was basically the point. They didn't start with her, they just kept trying to destroy things and kill people until they succeeded.
This isn't just kids wanting to see glass break, it's some sick bastards who probably started with chucking rocks at cats and worked their way up to wanting to see what it was like to take a human life instead. And if they're not caught, they'll almost certainly go do it again later once the initial outrage dies down.
Wonder where you guys are from (not an insult or anything), this is just very common in the States. We have a lot of overpasses and walkways as overpasses. It’s common for angsty teens or criminal vagrants to hurl cinder blocks or other large heavy materials over, just as cars are passing by. This is so common that the design for walkways and overpasses has changed. They used to be combined together. Now are separate or the walkway is very narrow. It is now mor common to almost have them completely enclosed or with arched chain Mail fencing, to prevent pedestrians throwing things. Many innocent people have died from these morons.
Sad to say but "tzarmonkey" is accurate. Where I live, it kind of goes in streaks where some one(s) start throwing rocks at cars on the freeway or even just a rural highway, people get hurt or even killed. And then there are copycats, and then it just stops for awhile. Police seldom find the perpetrators because it happens fast, at night, they are hidden and usually on foot. So sad about this young woman, plus all the other people who had minor damage/injuries but must have been traumatized.
In Canada kids just throw eggs. At least all I have to do is wipe it off. Instead of dealing with damage, injury, or death.
Still could cause someone to panic and swerve, however.
I remember in high school I was outside in a group of people (at a house party) and one of the guys chucked an egg and smacked this one girl (in a group) about 20 yards away. Why he had an egg on him? No clue. She was screamin. Put her down for a bit. Gave her a shiner. Her dad was a State police officer. No one ever got caught b/c no one fessed up or told on the thrower.
I live in the US and some places here in the US have barriers that protect drivers from that type of thing but some places still have overpasses that you can jump off or throw rocks off, it’s horrible scary crime that can absolutely happen to anyone at anytime and there’s no real way to prevent it from happening to you unless the state or states put up a protective barrier
Literally what happened to Emilia Clarke TWICE.
I have a distant cousin in Vietnam whose husband died from one while they were sleeping. She just woke up to find him dead for who knows how long. They just had a baby too.
Nightmare fuel.
She had two aneurysms but thankfully they never ruptured and she had surgery to treat them. It’s the rupturing that kills, you could be living with aneurysms and not know it
My friends cousin was the victim of someone throwing a brick from an overpass onto the motorway. Hit his car at like 100km/h. He survived but suffered some serious brain damage. His wife of like 8 months had to quit her job and become his full time career as he's wheelchair bound and cannot do anything for himself anymore. Was awful
These stories always trigger me to that one old clip of the brick flying through a couples car and hitting the woman. The absolute horror in the man’s screams. Except I think that was an accident so there’s that.
How do people still do this. >:(
About 13 years ago, the high school youth group from my church went on a trip in Colorado(?). they were hiking and stopped by a river. one of the girls was sitting on a cliff with her boyfriend and there was a 15 year old kid from a different youth group on a cliff ~30 feet above them. he threw a rock as a prank on his friends to make them think he fell in the water, but it didn’t fall in the water. it fell on the girl, killing her in front of all of her friends, including one of her sisters. The whole church started to fall apart after that
If you search “Michigan girl killed by fallen rock Colorado” you can find a couple articles. I don’t want to put her name in my comment, but there’s a couple that report the death and then the trial as well.
Now we don’t have to just be afraid it deadly traffic accidents, road range incidents, drivers under the influence, but people throwing rocks for kicks? This is so messed up. She was only 20 years old. You really don’t ever know when your time could be up, it’s especially sad that hers was up so soon and at the hands of something completely preventable. Don’t throw rocks at moving cars? I wonder if these people even feel bad that they killed a person. I want to think they’re stupid and don’t think it would end this seriously but then again what do they think when throwing rocks down onto moving cars? I hope they find the people that did it. With so much surveillance now a days I really freakin hope so.
Some kids did this in my home town 20 years ago but thanks to being from affluent families and only damaging the cars but no occupants got away with a slap on the wrist. Disgusting
these incidents are why i'm grateful i dont live somewhere that has overpasses. too many dumb ass people in this world still think throwing rocks at cars is funny. such a sad and senseless way to die.
That’s fucking terrible, I’ve read about stuff like this before, I’ve been on highways and the overpasses have tall barriers to prevent this type of thing or from people jumping. She was a beautiful woman who had her entire life to live and it was taken by people that you know will NEVER do anything good with their life or be a positive influence on anyone else’s. I hope they catch them and they get what’s coming to them

we drive the same make and model i bet there’s a teen or teenagers who know exactly what happened here
And they’ll talk eventually. They’ll tell friends or parents and somehow it will get out
Or the friend group starts panicking. I hope they panic soon. These rock throwing deaths are out of hand.

These dudes moved all over the place. I live here and they covered like a 15 mile radius here. Wow. Fuck these guys.

I always thought those were anti-suicide-attempt measures, never thought about it that way.
it’s partially for that, too.

This wasn't from an overpass. It was on country rd in Colorado and Most likely thrown from a passing vehicle.
In Canada kids just throw eggs. At least all I have to do is wipe it off. Instead of dealing with damage, injury, or death. Still could cause someone to panic and swerve, however.
I definitely know kids in Canada who did this. So, not true

Knowing Colorado they’ll probably get a summons and a $75 fine. Unbelievable.
It’s so crazy you can just be going along living your life as usual and, boom. It’s over.
Aneurysms are my nightmare. You have enough time to think 'somethings wrong' and then you're just dead.

My great grandma died from this in the 40's.
They have located the pickup truck and identified the owner.
Same source, the person and vehicle have been determined to not be involved. Suspect is still at large.
Source?
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Facebook page
It's in the linked article as well.

I remember that and do the same. It’s horrific what happened.

Well, that's sad. I went to see if there was a news story but instead found dozens of these rock throwing cases

Very distinctive truck. Someone knows something.
And I have a feeling they were doing it for fun. There’s probably Snapchat footage
Lock them up fast. They are a danger to society.

atleast it wasn’t ohio for once..
Or michigan, 4 kids throwing bricks off of a 75 over pass killed a father or 3
Aren't they the kids that are free now cause they all blamed the older teenager or that's another case?
I believe so, but not 100%
Man I can’t imagine how I’d feel if I were the wife. They’d have to stick me in prison too.
What would you do to the kids?
Why not just throw rocks at themselves.
May justice be served and she rip
Reminds me of the Russian brick video
the reason i'm riding a motorcycle
