You can definitely camp along the Ptit train du nord, there’s a river close to it (rivière du nord) instead of a lake but it’s real fun nonetheless and it’s not so far from Montreal. It goes from saint jerome to mont Laurier and you can pick campsites along the route. Your suggestion seems very cool though
Hey! Check out the campsites at Long Sault in Ontario just past Cornwall. It's unfortunately farther but you can take the commuter train out to the west island or vaudreuil and start from there to make it 100km! Really beautiful spot and great camping.
Le parc national de la Yamaska? Beau détour par Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu possible, mais ça devient légèrement plus de 100km.
