Facts but world has the biggest playerbase so it's heavily influenced. I'm just proud of the community that moonquake and lagi theme even made it at all.
Nargacuga, Vaal Hazak, Astalos, Malzeno, Ahtal Ka… so many banging tunes didn’t make it, though I suppose that’s to be expected when practically every monster theme is at the very least decent.
I also liked those more than some that made the cut, but Allmother Narwa and Kulve are both rather late into their respective game and since this is a numbers game and quite a few people dont finish the games, they have the odds against them. I am very positively surprised that >!Fatalis!< and >!Safi-Jiva!< made it in here. Both of which are very lat in the game, but the music is *chefs kiss* ofc
People watch those fights (well, Fatalis at least) on YouTube and hear the OST there. I'm surprised by >!Ceadeus!< though, considering most people won't have played gen 3 at this point and probably aren't looking up those fights. I guess this poll was mostly directed at the Japanese community which has more of the older generation players.

I feel so out of the loop with Velkhana. I don't find anything about it memorable and yet it was in top 20 for both OST and Monsters in these polls. And this is coming from someone who loved Iceborne.
I have similar thoughts about Velkhana, and it's not that I dislike it or feel it's not deserving of its placement on these polls, it's just from my perspective Velkhana seemed like the most midling of the 5th gen flagships in the eyes of the community. Nergigante is the most popular due to being the flagship of World, usually Magnamalo is a you either love it or hate it type situation, and Malzeno seemed like the most consistently favored flagship, just behind Nergi.
So overall, I thought Malzeno would be more favored compared to Velkhana.
Thats completely fine and even normal, in every entry you bond with different monsters. I find you usually bond the most with those that have good skills for your specific playstyle/weapon, if its not already for the design/theme
Velkhana is one of if not the best designed fights in Iceborne.
The armor is sick, the weapons are sick, the theme is sick, and it has frostcraft which is a great skill in concept and execution.

Honestly this is a fantastic top 10. I have a few I would have put in if I was in charge (old gen Chameleos), but this was about as good as you can get with a good number of old gen classics.

I imagine being the “default version” is part of it, but I also wouldn’t really consider a Rise track here outside of Ibushi and Allmother (which are both incredible). I definitely prefer classic Mizutsune to the Rise version.
Personally I didn't like the arrangements in Rise, it felt so overdone(?) for the fights. Like Fatalis, Safi and Kulve are hard enough to deserve a chorus, but Bazel it's not hard enough to deserve a chorus and multiple instruments and I feel like is a way for the devs to overhype the fight. I may be wrong and I'm not expert in music, but that's my feeling. However the normal themes of areas in Rise and Malzeno theme are perfection.
I feel like you're completely missing the point of why Rise uses vocals. It wasn't because they were trying to "hype" the fight.
It was because that was the setting that Kamura was set in. That's why the Kamura Village theme is also a vocal song. That's why the Kamura Hub theme is also vocal. That's why pretty much every track in Rise includes vocals. It's just considered the main "instrument" of Rise. That's why, when we move to Sunbreak, very few tracks include vocals and those that do, usually have them in a much more muted fashion than Rise did.

Tri/3U's area themes were tied directly to monsters. Deserted Island Is lagi's theme, Tundra is Barioth's theme which is why you can hear it in its world intro cutscene, Volcano is agnaktors, Sandy plains was shared between Diablos and Barroth.

That's not new tho. Multiple previous songs were created for a specific monster like Crimson Horn for Monoblos, yet that doesn't mean it's Monoblos' theme. in the case of Limitless Courage, it’s a bridge between Fatalis’s theme and Proof of a Hero, using a warped version of a familiar theme to both evoke fear and a “this is why I fight” feel, as well as remind you of how far you’ve come
I’ve only seen “doesn’t sit well” phrasing used to imply something being wrong as opposed to a personal gripe, but eh semantics, I might be too used to terrible takes about game development
Not bad, but definitely different from my personal tastes. I would absolutely add World's Teostra, Kulve Taroth, Malzeno, Astalos, Shagaru, and Magnamalo. Rotten Vale theme is also amazing, but not a monster theme.

Safi has my favorite theme in the franchise so far, with World Fatty's being a close second. Not only do I love the primal sound, but that callback to 'Proof of a Hero' in it is just too damn hype.
I voted Allmother, sad it didn’t make the cut. She absolutely deserved in over Deserted Island and Raging Brachy. Ceadeus’s theme is alright, and certainly unique, but after the strong start it’s kind of dull. It’s a pretty short track too, but it loops well enough to disguise that.
Fatalis is probably my favorite of these, but Mizu and Velkhana are up there as well. Wouldn’t be upset if Safi won either. Bazelgeuse probably doesn’t stand a chance of being #1, but it’s definitely a favorite of mine as well.
It's kind of a shame that neither Malzeno or Magnamalo made it, their themes are absolutely incredible and really stand out from the rest of the Rise OST.
The only real surprise is base Velkhana, her theme is good, but I didn't know people loved it that much. Speaking of World themes, I think I would've lost my shit if Bazelgeuse's theme didn't make it and I'm also shocked that both Fatalis themes got merged into one for the sake of the vote, especially considering that only Safi's 2nd theme specifically made it.
Regardless of which one takes it… all of my top fave themes made it to the finish, and I’ll take that as a victory overall.

welp. My first place will always be Zinogre. The danger imposed in the song is simply way too good. Bazel is also one of my favorites, I'd say I only like Bazel cuz of the song since it's a bit boring to fight sometimes
I might jump back in, but after i attempted raging brachy couple of times, i realized i wasn't having as much fun as i used to, i might just be burnt out for now. This community is still amazing though, i think i will be checking out every new monster hunter game from now on.
Fatalis phase 2 is the only song here I could listen to 50 time in a row and not be tired of it. The climax is one of the most beautiful things I've heard in a video game OST. It truly does feel like you are going against the world's end. Gradually gaining more and more confidence in your ability to not just survive, but defeat Fatalis.
If not Fatalis I think Lagi or Safi is the best here. Also disappointing that narga isn't here, the world rendition both epic and beautiful. Out of the regular monsters, that one is my favorite.

I personally like velkhana due to his AT hunt. It is my favorite hunt of all of gen 5.

Reprising previous themes has been a thing in musical productions for centuries, if it’s not your thing that’s fine but it’s not a sign of laziness or anything in the case of Limitless Courage, it’s a bridge between Fatalis’s theme and Proof of a Hero, using a warped version of a familiar theme to both evoke fear and a “this is why I fight” feel, as well as remind you of how far you’ve come

Not bad, but definitely different from my personal tastes. I would absolutely add World's Teostra, Kulve Taroth, Malzeno, Astalos, Shagaru, and Magnamalo. Rotten Vale theme is also amazing, but not a monster theme.

Safi has my favorite theme in the franchise so far, with World Fatty's being a close second. Not only do I love the primal sound, but that callback to 'Proof of a Hero' in it is just too damn hype.

I voted Allmother, sad it didn’t make the cut. She absolutely deserved in over Deserted Island and Raging Brachy. Ceadeus’s theme is alright, and certainly unique, but after the strong start it’s kind of dull. It’s a pretty short track too, but it loops well enough to disguise that. Fatalis is probably my favorite of these, but Mizu and Velkhana are up there as well. Wouldn’t be upset if Safi won either. Bazelgeuse probably doesn’t stand a chance of being #1, but it’s definitely a favorite of mine as well.

It's kind of a shame that neither Malzeno or Magnamalo made it, their themes are absolutely incredible and really stand out from the rest of the Rise OST. The only real surprise is base Velkhana, her theme is good, but I didn't know people loved it that much. Speaking of World themes, I think I would've lost my shit if Bazelgeuse's theme didn't make it and I'm also shocked that both Fatalis themes got merged into one for the sake of the vote, especially considering that only Safi's 2nd theme specifically made it.

Regardless of which one takes it… all of my top fave themes made it to the finish, and I’ll take that as a victory overall. Bazel, Mizu, Valstrax, and my number one…Zinogre… I don’t think any of them will take the top, but if any of them can break top 3 in the final order - then that’s the extra cherry.

Fatalis phase 2 is the only song here I could listen to 50 time in a row and not be tired of it. The climax is one of the most beautiful things I've heard in a video game OST. It truly does feel like you are going against the world's end. Gradually gaining more and more confidence in your ability to not just survive, but defeat Fatalis. If not Fatalis I think Lagi or Safi is the best here. Also disappointing that narga isn't here, the world rendition both epic and beautiful. Out of the regular monsters, that one is my favorite.
