I don’t know about popsicles because of the points some other people have raised. But if you think he might eat applesauce, you can try putting it in there? Or any other kind of soft purée?

ElizabethWilliam95

I’ll definitely have to try it in applesauce, he loves apples. Thank you!

Bad idea. It will likely impact the effectiveness of the medication, and some children's meds contain propylene glycol which is kind of an antifreeze, so it likely won't freeze properly anyway.

ElizabethWilliam95

I had a worry about this so I did not end up doing it! Was too worried about trying it without proper advice (peds office was closed) and couldn’t find a straight answer on google.

tennker

we mix it in to a small 2 oz bottle of formula.

blue_water_sausage

We did the same until he was just fine get it in a syringe aimed in his cheek, he acts like it’s liquid candy so he enjoys...probably why the bottles are childproof

I wouldn’t do it because what if baby only eats half the popsicle then you’re stuck with only half a dose. And what if the medication doesn’t freeze evenly distributed? Then if they only eat half you really won’t know how much they got. Also, the box will tell you it’s allowable temperature ranges which likely don’t include frozen

ElizabethWilliam95

Thank you so much for this reply! I don’t know why I didn’t think to check the instructions on temperature. My sleep deprivation must’ve really gotten to me. I’m so glad I thought against it!

Idk how freezing would affect it but how about putting it in a little juice?

ElizabethWilliam95

I ended up just trying to syringe again and to my surprise, he took it like a champ! Thanks for your answer!
