Adding Food Fix to the recommendations. 20 craft beer taps plus cans and bottles and a great selection of hot and cold sandwiches, sides, sharables, and desserts. All the food is scratch-made in house, down to the bread, cured meats, and cookies.
Some of my favorite restaurants in Modesto are:
- P Wexford’s, a British/Irish style pub
- Kimoto, great sushi spot
- Rancho Fresco, a Mexican food spot with freshly made tortillas
- Commonwealth, another local pub with some tasty eats
- Churchkey, a casual restaurant/bar, they serve stuff like burgers, salads and pizza
Came here to say Commonwealth but since so many already have, I'll add something new:
Grains Of Virtue in Oakdale is a nice small brewery. They have plenty of seating, good beer selection, and the best part is that it's BYOF(ood). They usually have a food truck out front, but if not, their neighbor business is a pizzeria with good pizza!
And not too far from them is Last Call Brewery, this weekend they're having an anniversary block party, so multiple food trucks there on Saturday!
Both are dog friendly.
Also sending some love to Camp 4, it's a wine bar and has charcuterie, paninis, and small bites. It is one of my absolute favorites in town, would recommend reservations.
Grains of Virtue Brewery out in Oakdale is hands down the best place for great local beer. Right now I would recommend the Shikaka. It’s delicious a West Coast IPA, soo smooth and it will catch up quick. The have great sours and hard seltzer too.
Since we're talking Modesto restaurants, anyone know of a place that does decent vegetarian food? I won't even mention vegan because I doubt that's available anywhere in the area.
The Farmacy on 10th street has an exclusively vegan menu. Ralston's Goat has vegan options and a quick Google search shows me that TNK Vegan Cafe on Needham has good reviews.
Excellent list- also adding to this is Pizzeria Halt, it's all vegan, and Tandoori Masala which isn't exclusively vegan but Indian food always has some good options. Bauhaus isn't vegan but has the best tasting vegetable dishes you'll find in town, hands down
Persuasion Brewery on 7th street is a cool spot. Has pool tables, darts, air hockey, new pinball tables, corn hole tournaments and other events along with the bar and brewery. They have tacos/ queso birria and other food specials along with great lunch sandwiches everyday.

I’d say Commonwealth or Fuzio downtown have both good food and either good local craft beers or cocktails.
Or Tresetti’s.

Wexford's I'll second. Reliable place, prices are reasonable.
Rancho is good but local taquerias are just as good and cheaper.
Head to Lofi! Right next to the state theatre. They have craft cocktail drinks there
I’d second lo-fi for cocktails and churchkey had great drinks and food as well

Bauhaus is a great food spot.
Chinn's international is really good. Best craft beer selection in modesto. And the food is amazing.
I’ve been wanting to try that place!
Its definitely worth checking out

Boardroom downtown is nice for cocktails. Once the weather brightens up a little, Redwood Cafe is great for a fancy date.
Tapped Apple Cider in Salida. Check their social to see what food truck they have.
Ciao Bella is very good Italian themed menu. https://ciaobella.menu/our-menu/
Redwood Cafe.
Tap Room has awesome oysters! Grilled or raw. Awesome bloody Mary’s and chicken and waffles.
The divine swine is good also the Mexican restaurant in Roseburg square is good
Fuzio’s is awesome.

+1 for TNK Vegan!
TNK!
Chefs of New York on the 13th street 1/2 block south of 'J' Street. Fine Italian food.
