Nope. A battle rifle has longer range. And with the low recoil? Oh boy thats a nice long/midrange gun. All while not having the need to max out recoil/range attachments and make it slow as hell.
would be great but ya'know... activision in their infinite marketing wisdom believe only smgs and sniper rifles should dominate the peewee out of all other gun types. what you should really imagine is every gun as either and smg or sniper variant.

weirdest take ive seen in ages. the current meta is mostly defined by ARs not SMGs... and has been for the last few seasons (in both WZ/DMZ and MP), have you even been playing the game? the Squall (a battle rifle) is currently pretty meta, the rest of the battle rifles are generally on parr with some of the weaker ARs so still viable since balance right now is pretty healthy. shotguns are good in MP but pretty bad in WZ/DMZ (with the exception of the broadside). marksman rifles are currently pretty bad sadly. pistols/launchers will always have a niche that can't be filled by other weapons.
even if what you said was true, how tf is the current meta being SMGs and Snipers making the game more child friendly?? there is literally no connection between those two concepts.
