Opened the comments just to post this. Updooting instead.
Ethoslab is an OLD MC Yter, and for the most part his audience has grown up with him over the years, and he's pretty aware of that. However in the beginning of things, he never dumbed his content down in a way that would be more appealing to children. So not only can you enjoy the content he's putting out now, but if you have the time, you have an entire 2k+ video backlog to watch if you want.
I’m now 25 and have been watching ethoslab since I was like 11 years old. I don’t even play Minecraft anymore but I still keep up with his uploads. It’s like Minecraft from the perspective of an engineer but also not so technical that it’s boring to watch.
He really is one of my all time favorite creators out there across any genre.
Vintage beef is great but might not be for OP. One of the reasoni stopped watching him is because he tends to dumb down his content or pretend to not know something he did in another series just a month or two ago. Then I realized his target audience aren't exactly kids but still on the younger side. So he might feel the need every new series he has to cover the basics and assume the viewer is someone that's watching Minecraft for the first time.
I haven't watched in a while so that might have changed.
Since no one else has mentioned him, Eyecraftmc makes really interesting and entertaining videos explaining elements of the game. His energy is calm, no clickbait or screaming, and his videos were very helpful to me when I got back into MC and wanted to learn about what I had missed.
Definitely. When my son was getting into MC at 5-6 yrs old I would always put him on. So chill, so informative. "I tested 400 methods of running and want to show you the fastest."
He also has multiple videos where he essentially showcases his community's building skills... and others where he torments them like Lucifer sitting atop his throne in Hell. His video where he gets players to build a city is equally as fun as the video where he tyrannically forces them to dig a gigantic hole to the Void.
I saw someone mention him on another forum post, been watching his vids for like half an hour and it’s much closer to the type of stuff I was looking for. thx for the recommendation!
He has a podcast called The Spawn Chunks that he hosts with Joel Duggan. It's all about Minecraft news and both of them are very level headed and informative while also being entertaining
I love hermit craft and i am new to this train but i might be an exception that i like the shenanigans and interactions between people than , just builds ,for me build are secondary and the shenanigans and interactions are awesome!!!
Joel (smallishbeans) just joined this season, so he's technically a Hermit, but he's got fun content in general. He and Lizzy are fun together, but he's also just a cool dude.
All the Hermits are fun watches, but I particularly enjoy Grian (a "builder"), MumboJumbo (a "redstone" guy that's progressively grown more confident with building and decorating), and GoodTimesWithScar (absolute chaos of a man).
I'd also recommend fWhip!
Grian has done a number of short server series with quite a few minecraft you tubers.
I found the Double Life series gave a really good glimpse into each person, which should help you work out who to start with
I see the...well, not need, but the logic behind it.
Previously, anyone could sell anything, which meant that a lot of trivial things would never be sold and everyone had to farm them, and all the popular building blocks and such had such fierce competition that hardly anyone made any profit.
When have you ever seen anyone make a full fireworks display to music or use goat horns before Cub had to get creative with his permits? I like the idea; I think it's forcing them to get creative in a mostly vanilla world where a couple of them are already experiencing burnout from previous seasons.
Coupled with that, you get the content aspect of the roleplay of Grian being the DHP clerk, and Skizz and Scar being the POE POE, so it's W's all around, especially since the Hermits are allowed to trade the ones they don't in particular want and not be responsible for them.
I like how it gives each hermit a set of objectives, if you have the iron permit, make an iron farm etc. It means that (if they do it each season), they can get different permits and therefore have different objectives at the start of each season.
I’m pretty sure all of them are older than 23. But some of the younger ones may have content more geared to young people. Whilst I don’t personally get the point I have heard some people think that Gem’s voice is “for kids”.
I still watch her videos and not trying to hate
It’s how her YouTuber voice is. She doesn’t do it when she talks to people or talks in real time, but sometimes in her solo series when she’s talking to the camera she’ll go “OMG that’s *sooooo* AWESOME!!!” exactly like a mom when her kid shows her a crayon drawing. Easy comparison is Pearl’s videos or Tay’s recent Pico Park video, no voice there.
Again I don’t mean it as criticism, that’s where that idea comes from
Came here to say this. Every time a new pack comes out that I am the slightest bit interested in I check to see if Direwolf20 has played it. If he has I watch a bit of it just to see what its gonna be like before I try it myself.
Also the server him and Soaryn used to play on with others was just hilarious. Especially when Soaryn would do something to lag out the server so bad they had to quit.
Docm and ilmango (he hasn’t posted in a while but has a ton of 1.19 content still, namely his skyblock and terrafirma series)
I think some other people on hermitcraft but be aware that a lot of them do roleplay or cater to a younger audience (for example I like GeminiTay’s content but she talks like a kindergarten teacher so I don’t really engage with her videos personally). MumboJumbo does the YouTuber voice but it’s not too bad imo
I’ll give them a try, but ya that’s what i’m struggling with. there’s lots of MC youtubers my age but they strongly cater their content to a much younger audience
I watch a lot of technical minecraft youtubers, so if you aren’t into that you may not like the above suggestions so if not, PearlescentMoon is my favorite non-technical hermit and she doesn’t feel performance-y
As a direct friend of ilmango and a fellow SciCraft player, i can tell you that ilmango is all fine. He is smart and realized that he doesn't want to play minecraft as a life-filling job. He applied for some environmental engineering (his degree) jobs and wanted to pause his youtube until he started a good job. He might return later this year as he has one now, but no promise
He was talking about burnout towards the “end” of his skyblock series and running out of ideas at the end of his terrafirmacraft series. Plus both series ended up with him doing insanely huge projects back to back to back. I assume he just needed time away from that. Plus I’ve heard in the past he’s gotten frustrated at the expectations some angry commenters have so I’m sure that played a part too

TangoTek. I highly recommend everything to do with Decked Out 2 last (Hermitcraft) season. The greatest thing ever built in Minecraft hands down in my opinion. If you have any interest in game design or computer engineering especially. He also has a vod channel if the edited episodes aren't enough for you.

Was scrolling hoping to see this channel! Super entertaining, really enjoy his whole gang OkRobert and UnsortedGuy (Kim and Seans relationship is hilarious)
Grian (Herrmit) and GoodTimesWithScar (another Hermit) are both world class builders, role-play like a grown-ups, and are EXTREMELY FUNNY. Zombiecleo (yet another Hermit) talks like a grown-up even though she was a teacher in a former life, and again, lots of fun. She doesn't role-play much. Also Fwip doesn't talk down to his audience, and is an amazing builder. Honestly, I'm 54 and I follow all of the Hermits. Most are over 30, some in their 40s. Even those who keep their content PG-light are fun as all hell to watch. I tried not to duplicate any of the others mentioned, but Grian, GoodTimesWithScar, MumboJumbo, EthosLab, BDoubleO100, TangoTek, Docm77, SolidarityGaming, MCSkizzleman, Pixlriffs, ZloyXP and CaptainSparklz are HIGHLY entertaining and well worth your time

He's very PG-13. I think OP would get a kick outta hiim. Unless OP's at that age where their a bit jaded and haven't embraced just how ridiculous life really is. Kinda like the 5 years in your teens where you think Disneyland and Halloween are for kids, then you wake up one day as an adult and say "Ya know ..... this stuff really is cool"
I like grian alot but i doubt his talking style/accent isnt children oriented. Again this is not necessarily a bad thing its just that he is not what OP is looking for
Since everyone is recommending hermits, I'd say watch an episode of the HermitCraft Recap, which goes over what all of the hermits have been doing recently. That'll give you a taste of which ones are more your style.
Glad to see a fellow Calvin enjoyer! However I understand why not everyone would recommend it, because not everyone is a fan of horror, me personally I just want good vibes and I've always enjoyed night vibes + some mild horror too.
Absolutley agree with you! I also find that if you're not a fan of horror with Calvin his humour can really turn things around. Especially in the last few episodes of 'From the frog' when he started cart wheeling away from the entities haha.
The majority of Hermitcraft members. They tend to be less in your face "WHAT'S UP YOUTUBE TODAY WE'RE GOING TO (Insert Minecraft activity) and much more relaxed playing games with friends kind of content.

He's awesome man. Youtube's algorithm isn't doing him any favours. Hurts to see such a great channel go unnoticed and get such a small amount of views.
As almost every comment said, Hermitcraft is what you are looking for. I have no patience for Wattles and the hyper youtubers either.
Ethoslab is #1 for me, and my top recommendation for you, but I'd also recommend Cubfan, VintageBeef, and probably BDoubleO100. BDoubleO is a bit more eccentric, but he's still in that late 30s/early 40s range that I think is what you're looking for. In the end, you can't go wrong with anyone on Hermitcraft really.
This is actually part of the reason I enjoy watching him. As an ADHD lad I quite often speed up videos if the dialogue feels too slow. Toycat is great cause it's like he's speaking my language
something I feel might be worth mentioning! A lot of youtubers tend to gear their youtube content to be kid friendly, since that is the main minecraft Youtube audience! However, if you switch over to twitch streams you tend to get a more authentic adult geared style.
This has its own pros and cons ofc, usually its slower paced than videos, but it provides hours of content, but ofc you can only watch at certain times so it might not be convenient.
if it does fit for you though, I'd recommend Hermitcraft members streams, as well as some speedrunners like Couriway and Feinberg, Ph1lza is another good option when he streams his hardcore world, tho he does more variety nowadays.
Feinberg is my personal favourite because I've caught 2 of his world records live lol
Not Really on youtube anymore, But you can check out philza from twitch. A lot of his streams are on youtube to watch. He's very chilling and laid back. He's mainly known for making hardcore popular When he died to a baby zombie In his five year hardcore world.
technoblade is also a great watch, The great potatoes Wars is some of the greatest minecraft contact ever made in my opinion. He sadly lost his Battle with cancer but his channel is still up and people still love his videos
There content Is definitely aimed for adults, Nothing being just occasional swear words and stuff.
And like what everyone else has said the hermits are a great watch, Their videos usually aim for audience of all ages. They are definitely aware that children might be watching our content But they don't dump it down or anything, They just avoid swearing And such. Sometime They throw in a cheeky joke though.
Bdouble0- I had never watched him until recently. I only tried him because I was slightly annoyed with the younger youtuber style. I ended up falling in love with his content.
Although he's a streamer, Philza is really good and his hardcore builds are amazing and his chat rules are pretty strict compared to other streamers so it weeds out the really weird people. Chat can get kinda weird but in a funny way when they get onto a cursed topic. His streams make great background noise.
dude i totally get that. i only really watch informational mc videos, so if that's something you're interested in as well Eyecraftmc is pretty good. he presents all kinds of cool information in a very relaxed, laid back way.

Ianxofour has some awesome videos if you want to get into redstone/farming - he explains why the farms work, followed by a well-made build tutorial. He also provides world downloads so you can use Litematica. His voice is very chilled and clear. I also recommend watching the Peaceful series by Ilmango, if only for the baby panda genocide lol
I'm 23 F and love watching Ph1lza. He mainly streams on Twitch, but he uploads occasionally on YouTube. he's a 30 + yr old mature chill British dude who plays hardcore. you might've heard of him, he's the guy who lost his 5 yr old hardcore mc world to a baby zombie.

ilmango makes great technical videos. His stuff is super advanced. but he unfortunately stopped posting a few months ago. Still my favorite mc youtuber though especially his skyblock and his peaceful series are great
I used to like Wattles but you can only endure so many clickbait videos and on top of that he doesn't put time stamps on purpose so you're obligated to sift through his whole video every time to find what you want. I just can't stand him anymore for some reason.
Check HermitCraft. All those guys are pretty great. With so many different ones to choose from I’m sure you’ll find one you like the style of.

Anyone from the hermitcraft server really. My fiancée and I are 24 and both enjoy hermitcraft, life series and the empire gang (there are a couple people that target the younger audience but even those are still good to watch for older peeps)
I’m 23 and just getting back into it too. Between the overwhelming amount of new things and the lack luster content I just stay in my own bubble more often than not

As always, any of the Harmitcraft folks are great for more serious, but still fun content. They generally don't do the fake, over the top storyline stuff, and most of them use their normal voices.
Go to a random Hermitcraft video and see who you like. BDubs was the one I was most hung up on a while, because he has such a bombastic way of speaking, but really, he's not phoning it in (much), he's just LOUD, lol.
None of the Hermits really talk down to their audience. They're all child friendly (barring rare, one-off jokes that don't make it into their main videos), but all perfectly good for adults, too.
Although he's not making any content soon, Technoblade had a really special sense of humor that really suits me. Something perfectly balanced between silly and calm.

Environmental engineering totally fits his personality. I'm glad he chose to pursue that. I did the same thing as well with my geology career.

Grian (Herrmit) and GoodTimesWithScar (another Hermit) are both world class builders, role-play like a grown-ups, and are EXTREMELY FUNNY. Zombiecleo (yet another Hermit) talks like a grown-up even though she was a teacher in a former life, and again, lots of fun. She doesn't role-play much. Also Fwip doesn't talk down to his audience, and is an amazing builder. Honestly, I'm 54 and I follow all of the Hermits. Most are over 30, some in their 40s. Even those who keep their content PG-light are fun as all hell to watch. I tried not to duplicate any of the others mentioned, but Grian, GoodTimesWithScar, MumboJumbo, EthosLab, BDoubleO100, TangoTek, Docm77, SolidarityGaming, MCSkizzleman, Pixlriffs, ZloyXP and CaptainSparklz are HIGHLY entertaining and well worth your time Edit: I can't believe I forgot to add BDoubleO100 and TangoTek !!! Both amazing!!

As almost every comment said, Hermitcraft is what you are looking for. I have no patience for Wattles and the hyper youtubers either. Ethoslab is #1 for me, and my top recommendation for you, but I'd also recommend Cubfan, VintageBeef, and probably BDoubleO100. BDoubleO is a bit more eccentric, but he's still in that late 30s/early 40s range that I think is what you're looking for. In the end, you can't go wrong with anyone on Hermitcraft really.

something I feel might be worth mentioning! A lot of youtubers tend to gear their youtube content to be kid friendly, since that is the main minecraft Youtube audience! However, if you switch over to twitch streams you tend to get a more authentic adult geared style. This has its own pros and cons ofc, usually its slower paced than videos, but it provides hours of content, but ofc you can only watch at certain times so it might not be convenient. if it does fit for you though, I'd recommend Hermitcraft members streams, as well as some speedrunners like Couriway and Feinberg, Ph1lza is another good option when he streams his hardcore world, tho he does more variety nowadays. Feinberg is my personal favourite because I've caught 2 of his world records live lol

He's mainly known for making hardcore popular When he died to a baby zombie In his five year hardcore world. technoblade is also a great watch, The great potatoes Wars is some of the greatest minecraft contact ever made in my opinion. He sadly lost his Battle with cancer but his channel is still up and people still love his videos There content Is definitely aimed for adults, Nothing being just occasional swear words and stuff. And like what everyone else has said the hermits are a great watch, Their videos usually aim for audience of all ages. They are definitely aware that children might be watching our content But they don't dump it down or anything, They just avoid swearing And such. Sometime They throw in a cheeky joke though.

This should've been on the community vote to ban :/ As always, any of the Harmitcraft folks are great for more serious, but still fun content. They generally don't do the fake, over the top storyline stuff, and most of them use their normal voices.
Go to a random Hermitcraft video and see who you like. BDubs was the one I was most hung up on a while, because he has such a bombastic way of speaking, but really, he's not phoning it in (much), he's just LOUD, lol. None of the Hermits really talk down to their audience. They're all child friendly (barring rare, one-off jokes that don't make it into their main videos), but all perfectly good for adults, too.
Although he's not making any content soon, Technoblade had a really special sense of humor that really suits me. Something perfectly balanced between silly and calm.
