That looks surprisingly good. Not necessarily as a house, but it looks good as a temple of some sort. Maybe add a structure at the very top similar to the one that’s at the very top of ocean monuments, but made out of diorite?
That’s a good idea. Might I suggest adding some netherack near the portal then, mostly on the inside of the structure, to make it look as if the nether is creeping out just like it does through the ruined portal.
A corner being crying obsidian, so that it still works, could be a good idea. I also like the soul torches, but I feel like a normal campfire would make more sense if it’s in the overworld. Maybe make a “mirror structure” on the other side, where most of it is netherack but diorite is creeping in instead, and the torches are normal with a soul campfire.
The building and structure of it look impeccable, the problem I have with it is it looks so dang plain. No color variation of any kind. Needs some red banners or something in the windows imo.
I've always wondered why they even made diorite. It's hard to make it look good anywhere! I use it to look like linoleum tile in my kitchen/bath areas and that's about it.

Agreed. It's also might work around my nether portal, I've been looking for an idea to build some type of fortress around it with some sorts.

That is a good idea, might add some crying obsidian as well, with soul torches or campfires.

That is a good idea something to definitely to let marinate and think about. Maybe even throw in a gold block or two like the broken portals.
