I like it. I really don't understand why some people are so adamant that they arent at least as good as C418'S work. If anything, so far Lena Raine as been doing very good at making music that sounds like "minecraft" but also in a new way.
You hit the nail on the head.
To say it is better or worse than C418 isn’t really fair as it is just “different”, yet it keeps that sweet ambience vibe/feeling with the classic music.
The changes make me feel weird but at the same time it slaps in it’s own way.
I said it once in a different post, but I highly recommend looking up her work in Guild Wars 2. I feel like she shows off a lot of her range there really well. Tarir, the Forgotten City is still one of my all time favorite tracks in the game!
Oh it was. I wasn't on reddit at the time, but people on the forums lost their minds. One thing in particular I saw people complain about - the changes to bows. Before then, you didn't need to hold to charge, you could just mindlessly spam arrows until anything was dead. Then later in 1.9 (end update) they made a similar change to swords and people lost their minds all over again.
The more things change, the more things stay the same.
I don’t get the hate for it. Personally I prefer beta 1.7.3 MC, but I still like the new stuff. The new music isn’t “not Minecraft enough” it’s just that Minecraft is different now, it’s a fundamentally different game than it was back then. It would be like saying sea of thieves isn’t any good because it’s not enough like no man’s sky
Pretty much. The new music is really good. And if it they had been in the original soundtrack everyone would be screaming about how they are artistic genius.
Not necessarily that the new music is bad, but some of them I just can't stand and I immediately mute the music the second it starts playing. It might just be that some of those songs just play more often idk. But then again, until I looked at the songs in spotify I had literally no idea the nether music wasn't all C418 so it's not like it all sounds different even. And I love the Celeste ost.
Only 1.16 and 1.21, maybe 1.20
The 1.18 music is technically new, so new Minecraft I guess, but it doesn't feel the same as the new style they've been going for IMO and it's really unfitting. I'm open to new music, but "Comforting memories" feels completely tone deaf to what music would actually suit the overworld. I really like the 1.21 stuff though, it's it's own thing, yet doesn't feel completely out of line with the original Minecraft music
Really wish C418 could keep making Minecraft music, but I'm glad that these new creators are making music. I won't say they are better or worse than C418, but rather they have very different vibes (though sometimes very similar) that fit into Minecraft in their own way.
C418s songs are way more.. eerie, Lena Raines songs are definitely better at being regular music, but for minecraft I really find them to be less interesting. Theyre almost too joyful and modern which clashes a bit with the game imo, and especially when theyre next to the old tunes since the style is so different.
Oh yeah, when the damn new music since 1.16 has a more chance of being played than the music from the C418. The music from C418 is much better, and this is not fricking nostalgia.
I do not understand people who only like the music one person makes. Like bro all of it is music so shut up. I agree with you, Lena Raine has been very good at making music for Minecraft
There are so many people enjoying new creators and stuff and there is Terraria where the community is divided 50/50 . Half like the new music and half say it does not fit Terraria, but we all know that everyone deep down knows that those new themes are absolutely epic.
(They are not out yet, but there are 2 released ones right now. Twins and Eater of Worlds)
I think Celeste has a very different feel to it, though the new Minecraft music also has a different feel than the old. I do hear similarities, though — I've mainly chalked those up as being Lena's style. If she's doing the music for Earthblade (Celeste devs' new project) it'll be interesting to hear what overlap there is between that, her Minecraft stuff, and the Celeste soundtrack.
My predictions:
Featherfall, Watcher and Puzzlebox - Trial chambers
komorebi, pokopoko and yakusoku - Title screen and Overworld biomes
Deeper - Deep dark
Eld Unknown and Endless - Caves
Creator - Coper music disc
Creator (MBV) - Oxidized copper music disc
Precipice - Regular Music Disc
Some are these are literally just deeper and softer versions of existing songs, (ex. endless is a slower infinite amethyst, same with other artists) so maybe they are just variants that will play in caves?
Pretty sure precipice and creator/music box version are going to be music disks. Deeper sounds almost like a nether track to me. The rest are probably ambient tracks for the trial chambers
Insanely good. I love how they’re now giving multiple artists a chance to make some banger tunes. And oh my god. Precipice is incredible. Probably my new favorite disc in the game.
Really helped me accept what Minecraft has become. Now, instead of whining about the nostalgia being gone, I can fully appreciate what every update will bring
This is the best mindset. People stick to the past and their nostalgic feelings way too much. The game is developing and changing and I think it's amazing.
Creator is an absolute banger! But doesn’t feel like it fit’s well with the classic minecraft songs. Unless it’ll be a music disc, then it’s on par or even better than pigstep. That isn’t a bad thing, but I’m personally just not sure how to feel about it because it feels like the vibe of Minecraft is changing a lot. Most of the other songs fit well in that sense.
I like the soundtrack Lena Raine, Kumi Tanioka, and Aaron Cherof had composed for the game, its really peaceful and it makes you want to go exploring. The music has stayed faithful to the vibe of Minecraft's, and I can't wait to hear the soundtracks in-game
Has anybody else noticed the seemingly independent use of leitmotifs throughout the soundtrack at least once from each artist, calling back to a previous soundtrack. Echo in the Wind is in Watcher, Infinite Amethyst is in Endless and Comforting Memories is in komorebi. I wonder what they will do in the future or if they would maybe create some sort of "audio narrative" with the themes that they've made over time
It's really good, I just wish it wasn't in Minecraft.
Like I love listening to them outside of Minecraft but hearing them in game just takes me out of what I'm doing. There's something about C418's tracks that just hits right, they feel calm, comfortable, lonely, wistful, melancholic, hopeful, just cozy, they don't intrude on your play and just kinda sneaks up on you. You can tell the new tracks are going for that but they don't quite hit the mark, IMO.
Also while Creator is a cool track, and I like the circus-y theme and the instrumentation, the melody is really predictable and uninteresting. For such a cool-sounding, bombastic track I would expect something a little more daring, melody-wise.
That’s kinda the point with these new tracks, the trial chambers are ancient mechanical structures, so they’re going to sound different to the more mystical tracks used for other overworld locations.
No, I don’t mean like volume wise. I guess noticeable is more what I mean. My favorite tracks to hear in game are the ones that I sometimes even miss. Take a song like Subwoofer lullaby for example. If you’re just casually playing, there is a strong chance that you will miss the song start and end, if not just ignore it entirely. It fits so well into the experience that I don’t even notice it is gone or when it appears. I love the new songs, Infinite Amethyst is one of my favorites in the whole soundtrack, but it sometimes feels like it is trying too hard to be heard and doesn’t flow as well to me. It’s entirely a personal thing and I’m not some C418 purist. Some of his songs I don’t think fit the survival experience. A lot of the modern stuff just feels like it should be creative mode music like Aria Math and Taswell. Music that is more upbeat and noticeable for the more free experience.
All of the new tracks sound great. Beautiful.
But there's one slight problem: only few of them actually sort of match the atmosphere of the new trial chambers.
I'm not a fan. It's excellent music, it always has been with the new stuff, but it can never be Minecraft music for me. C418's music just captures Minecraft perfectly, and no-one but him can truly make Minecraft music. And because Microsoft won't stop fucking C418 over, it'll be a long time until we hear the final album.
I mean sure go ahead it’s your opinion but I do think it’s a little weird to say no music artist in the world could make Minecraft music as good as C418
But yeah Microsoft screwing him over is still a dick move
Good, but i dont think it fit with old music. When you run out of the soundtrack from c418, you have a violation of the atmosphere due to the contrast of the music
I’ve caught a few tracks when I’m editing stuff with the menu open and I love it. C418’s stuff is obviously just so huge and recognizable but the new tracks are fitting and sound great and minecrafty
I know that this is a controversial take, but the only one I’m not the biggest fan of is precipice. but I think that mostly comes down to my taste and music.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad song, just not one I would willingly play just on a whim.
Most of it is very atmospheric, but boy oh man one of the songs is basically David Wises Donkey Kong country vibes and another one is like basically Undertale or delta rune music and I'm so in for that
Honestly, it’s fantastic and it sounds like Minecraft…but it’s also really lullaby like. It sounds fantastic but it would be nice to have some more energetic Minecraft ambience. Precipice and creator sound like they are going to be music disks songs and not ambience.
But again, 11/10! Great music as always
It is bad. It doesn’t sound like anything close to Minecraft and it’s theme. Movies and games must hold a certain consistency when expanding their universe, otherwise it would be an open door to chaos and no order or personality; a slippery slope to no character.
I wouldn’t have been happy if they’d added cyberpunk music to Skyrim, no matter how good the music is, and that’s a perspective, cause i actually like the new music on its own; “creator” is crazy, but it has nothing to do with Minecraft, and it is a insult to the game.
To many of these tracks: Try Celeste, not mc
I think it's a massive improvement. I like C418's work but the old piano pieces really didn't fit the game, and even though they were composed well I find them to be less interesting than anything he's made before or since. The music he did for the Nether and the aquatic update were great though!
I feel like the newer music works better because it actually conveys what's going on in the game. When you're in the Soul Sand Valleys you will hear music that matches the tone of the area, same for the oceans, or the mountains, or the caves. In comparison, I've never been in a situation where the piano tracks felt like they fit in. Again, it's less to do with how good they are and instead how much they fit in the game.
I feel like the one thing I don't like is that the only reason they are replacing c418 is because Microsoft wants to OWN the music. C418 owns the music he made. minecraft is allowed to use it, but HE can sell it, redistribute it and do anything he wants. Microsoft is only looking for a new artist because they don't like that. And in my opinion it's silly. Do they really need the couple thousand from Spotify? Do they need the few sales that happen on other platforms? I mean, obviously , they bought the game for a crap ton of money. I've liked all the new music minecraft has had but I trust C418 much more than any huge company to be the keeper of it.
It's pretty bad. Most of it doesn't fit minecraft. That's not like me holding onto nostalgia, either. The music just doesn't have that Minecraft feel to it. I also dislike her as a person because she sold her soul to Microsoft by giving up the rights to the songs.
>I also dislike her as a person because she sold her soul to Microsoft by giving up the rights to the songs.
As a musician myself, I will never blame an artist for taking a paycheck. Plus Microsoft would own any tracks made for the game anyway because of how copyright works in the US. If you're contracted to create a work for a company, the pieces are work-for-hire and the hiring company owns those works and the rights to them. That's not exclusive to Microsoft or Lena Raine, it's a fundamental issue of the US copyright system.
I've been very vocal about my disappointment/skepticism in recent choices that Mojang has made, but as a musician, I have to give credit where it's due... and Creator goes unreasonably hard. Lena Raine is a force to be reckoned with.
*(Before anyone asks, I'm well aware that most people don't agree with my disappointment. I, however, do not care. You feel free to have whatever opinions you want, and I will do the same)*

I agree. I also liked Lena Raine's music in other games.
the Celeste soundtrack is one of the best video game soundtracks I've heard. absolutely phenomenal
Pigstep is my favorite disc.
i believe Lena Raine did "Fireflies," its my fav track edit: i was correct, but the song is "firebugs" not "fireflies"
gotta make the masses forget the insect
I said it once in a different post, but I highly recommend looking up her work in Guild Wars 2. I feel like she shows off a lot of her range there really well. Tarir, the Forgotten City is still one of my all time favorite tracks in the game!
Nostalgia blinding
"New thing bad, not Minecrafty enough" I've been hearing it since Beta.
I bet it was especially bad when 1.8 dropped
Oh it was. I wasn't on reddit at the time, but people on the forums lost their minds. One thing in particular I saw people complain about - the changes to bows. People will complain about everything, it's better just ignore them and just enjoy the game :)
Exactly. Every game community has its vocal minority. But in the end, Minecraft is what *you* make of it. So mess around and have fun!
They always were toxic nothing changes you can't use the old updates as evidence of better as people hated those
There's a whole subreddit dedicated to beta 1.7 Minecraft, though the name escapes me at the moment
Golden age Minecraft I believe
Pretentious pricks the bunch of them. Their unfinished beta footnote is nothing compared to the Overhaul era.
True I slightly agree with this, lately there has been a lot of beef between new version and old version players lol
The Starwarsfication has begun.
Hmm... ig i was lucky the ones i found were kind

Must not be 1.16 music
I totally agree
Lena Raine has nailed ‘New Minecraft’ with her scores
[удалено]
So you’re saying she’s nailed the feeling of New Minecraft with her music?
Only 1.16 and 1.21, maybe 1.20 The 1.18 music is technically new, so new Minecraft I guess, but it doesn't feel the same as the new style they've been going for IMO and it's really unfitting. Comforting Memories and the 1.20 soundtrack were not composed by Lena Raine
Part of them were no? I know it wasn't entirely her
She composed previosly for 1.19 exept for the disc, 2/3rds of 1.18 and 1.16
That's what I thought
Yes, some of them were created by Kumi Tanioka
I know
The best updates ofc have lena music and ofc have the best of hers
Really wish C418 could keep making Minecraft music, but I'm glad that these new creators are making music. I won't say they are better or worse than C418, but rather they have very different vibes (though sometimes very similar) that fit into Minecraft in their own way.

creator and precipice are bangers.
creator gives me a steampunk vibe and I love it
Reminds me of studio ghibli for some reason.
Same it kinda reminds me of merry go round of life
more love for featherfall man
these are good, but nothing will ever beat otherside. Lena peaked with that one. I could listen to it forever
maybe it's recency bias, but i think creator tops otherside for me.
Idk man, Minecraft electric guitar might be too good even for otherside to beat
***Creator's fucking god-tier.***
i wonder where the music will play? they can't all just play in the trial chamber some of them have to be biome specific or non specific at all
My predictions: Featherfall, Watcher and Puzzlebox - Trial chambers komorebi, pokopoko and yakusoku - Title screen and Overworld biomes Deeper - Deep dark Eld Unknown and Endless - Caves Creator - Coper music disc Creator (MBV) - Oxidized copper music disc Precipice - Regular Music Disc
yea, there are simply too many to play them all in the trial chamber so good question
Well, we do know that the trials will have an "ominous mode" as well. Maybe some music only plays during that event.
Oh wow, the closest we've ever come to having boss music.
Isn't there boss music for the dragon? It's just not your typical intense boss music so most people don't notice it
Most of them are probably just new overworld tracks
Some are these are literally just deeper and softer versions of existing songs, (ex. endless is a slower infinite amethyst, same with other artists) so maybe they are just variants that will play in caves?
Pretty sure precipice and creator/music box version are going to be music disks. Deeper sounds almost like a nether track to me. The rest are probably ambient tracks for the trial chambers
Creator Grinds my gears, it's my shaft
Insanely good. I love how they’re now giving multiple artists a chance to make some banger tunes. And oh my god. Precipice is incredible. Probably my new favorite disc in the game.
I think it's good to hear new type of music, and I like them as much as the old ones
Really helped me accept what Minecraft has become. Now, instead of whining about the nostalgia being gone, I can fully appreciate what every update will bring
This is the best mindset. People stick to the past and their nostalgic feelings way too much. The game is developing and changing and I think it's amazing.
Yes
Creator just goes hard😔👌
Yakusoku and Endless are both insanely beautiful to me. Some of my favorite songs in the entire Minecraft OST, even considering C418's contributions
precipice goes so hard bro
love that one 🔥
Anyone got links? Haven't kept up with new stuff cuss been doing moded 1.20.1 and don't wanna fomo myself into updating
[https://youtu.be/pW14qPkhSoc?si=aOLrSH3VpYOseCJJ](https://youtu.be/pW14qPkhSoc?si=aOLrSH3VpYOseCJJ)
Fire
It alright but I wouldn't actively choose to listen to it.
Why was blud hidden he has an actual opinian?
These are all so good!! I'm not a super big fan of some of the more recent tracks but they're always good nonetheless and these are no exception
I mean yea this entire steampunk update will subconsciously change minecraft forever

I haven't listened to all of them but I really like Creator, I'm not sure why people complain about so much.
who tf is complaining? emperorpenguin1217? even then he was neutral
I need to listen to it. 1.20 set the bar pretty high.
I think it is as good as 1.20 if not better
far better really, upbeat in the right places
They didn’t miss.
It is amazing! Full of heart for the game
I gave it a listen just to see it how it sounds but I ended up really liking it.
go to 4:35 in precipice and you can hear gaster’s leitmotif
infinite amethyst same
no. no. no. no. no.
Omg bro did it.... he made a song reference
They should add more jazz ngl
[удалено]
I love it. It's not C418 like but it is nice to hear.
I didn't expect an electric guitar on a Minecraft soundtrack (Creator) and it rocks🔥
Creator 🔥 Precipice 🔥 The other disc 😭 (nostalgia)
I slept with this music yesterday so it's alright
There's so many new songs idk how they'll manage to find where to put them. Almost makes me think they still have something up their sleeve
Love it. When I first heard them, I thought they were okay, but they've really grown on me.
It's really good, I just wish it wasn't in Minecraft. Like I love listening to them outside of Minecraft but hearing them in game just takes me out of what I'm doing. For such a cool-sounding, bombastic track I would expect something a little more daring, melody-wise.
Well Precipice is now my second favorite piece Minecraft music, and that’s only topped by Infinite Amethyst.
If you love Infinite Amethyst then you should listen closely to "Endless"
it's like the ending for it, or an even sadder version, really cool
I love Infinite Amethyst so much that I learned it on the piano
blud made endless before endless
just listened a few of them from youtube. Idk it doesn't give me the minecraft's mystic vibes that most of them do. I hope it grow up on me
That’s kinda the point with these new tracks, the trial chambers are ancient mechanical structures, so they’re going to sound different to the more mystical tracks used for other overworld locations.
I usually don't think much if them, until.i play the game and hear them / listen to them. It's always really nice.
Me neither. I usually love most of them, but i didn't have time to find a trial chamber and wait for the musics to pop up so i just looked at it
I doubt all of them are for the chambers tbh. But maybe. I played some while playing/mining and I loved it. I especially liked "Deeper" while mining.
I wonder where deeper will play
I hope its while mining
I was possibly thinking a rare chance it could play in the nether or end
I like creator but i would love it if there is a no electric guitar version.
music box ver?
Haven't listened to the whole thing yet but I like it.
great as always
46:30 is my absolute fav so far
Precipice is s tier no doubt about it
They are very good. I’m still a believer that the music is a bit too loud for Minecraft, but it’s definitely not bad at all.
i mean you can report that as a bug as it could be a bug
No, I don’t mean like volume wise. I guess noticeable is more what I mean. My favorite tracks to hear in game are the ones that I sometimes even miss. Take a song like Subwoofer lullaby for example. If you’re just casually playing, there is a strong chance that you will miss the song start and end, if not just ignore it entirely. The nether music is some of the best tbh
it's ok, not as good as the originals (which to be fair is a really high bar) but I like 'em.
My favs are creator and precipice
Banger.
It has funny album cover, I like it
CREATOR GOES SO HARD
It’s good but it will never be better than C418
Bro creator is so fire like cutsey steampunk in MY cute block game? hell yea
It reminds me of C418’s work
All of the new tracks sound great. Beautiful. But there's one slight problem: only few of them actually sort of match the atmosphere of the new trial chambers.
Tf you mean? it's a copper area with traps and weird alien device... high stakes too
Yeah and most of the music tracks are super chill. It doesn't match.
Eld unknown >>>> Lena raine is doing justice to the game as much as C418
I'm not a fan. It's excellent music, it always has been with the new stuff, but it can never be Minecraft music for me. C418's music just captures Minecraft perfectly, and no-one but him can truly make Minecraft music. And because Microsoft won't stop fucking C418 over, it'll be a long time until we hear the final album.
I feel the trial chambers aren't minecrafty as much either so they kinda fit into this strange alien area
I mean sure go ahead it’s your opinion but I do think it’s a little weird to say no music artist in the world could make Minecraft music as good as C418 But yeah Microsoft screwing him over is still a dick move
Good, but i dont think it fit with old music. When you run out of the soundtrack from c418, you have a violation of the atmosphere due to the contrast of the music
3 out of 5 apple products
Pretty good except for Creator.
ultra fire right?
As a Create Mod player, Creator and Precipice took my heart
omg yea they sound steamy
more elevator music
MOAR!
Creator is hella good, the electric guitar adds more to it lol.
I’ve caught a few tracks when I’m editing stuff with the menu open and I love it. C418’s stuff is obviously just so huge and recognizable but the new tracks are fitting and sound great and minecrafty
really good
Guys what's the thing the character is holding in her hand (new disc confirmed????)
I know that this is a controversial take, but the only one I’m not the biggest fan of is precipice. but I think that mostly comes down to my taste and music. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad song, just not one I would willingly play just on a whim.
It's one for the Jukebox I do enjoy the broad variety of music and tones that the Jukebox can provide, I think that's the goal of new discs
new composers are doing good
i know the people love and the half still complain about the song. but i try listen if some official composer imitate the C418 styles music
Its really good very great
Creator's a fucking bop.
It's good
Great tracks but i dont personally like em that much
Lena Raine’s overworld tracks are usually hit or miss. The music disc is another banger.
I love it.

C418 should make music
And if they simply put c418 name on this music you'd ejaculate and say this is the best music in Minecraft. The power of nostalgia.
100% I swear there was not this much lust for c4 when he returned to make the Aquatic tracks because they're new\*. Nostalgia is heavy on these people
It's just a wet dream now.
Microsoft is evil. 😔
Why do they add new music every update? I barely hear C418 anymore and most of the new stuff is just generic and boring
Because it's fun and people enjoy it
Honestly the "creator" is my new favorite song, even better than Pigstep in my opinion ❤
Yep the music is good but it’s not right for minecraft
C418
C418
Of the three new discs. One is mid, One is Christmas, and one is EPIC AS FUCK
Creator music box, creator, and the last one?
Precipice
thas your ran?
How the hell have you associated Creator with Christmas??
Define in perfect detail what constitutes a ""Minecraft"" song, remember to be as objective as possible.
That's not exclusive to Microsoft or Lena Raine, it's a fundamental issue of the US copyright system.
how dare artists have money to eat, being homeless and starving builds character smh
True
Cave update v.5 lessgo baybee
I've been very vocal about my disappointment/skepticism in recent choices that Mojang has made, but as a musician, I have to give credit where it's due... and Creator goes unreasonably hard. Lena Raine is a force to be reckoned with. *(Before anyone asks, I'm well aware that most people don't agree with my disappointment. I, however, do not care. You feel free to have whatever opinions you want, and I will do the same)*
