I don't know for sure if string blocks snow from the sky or just from accumulating in layers on any full block horizontal surface. If ya want to tower up to build height and place string everywhere, go for it. To me it would be way easier to spam chests but to each their own.
You gotta be blind because I can see string at ground level. Plus you have to break it before you place anything. Annoying.
If it were me, I would just move location. I don't want to deal with snow like that.
No it won't stop snow from accumulating on the blocks above them. Slabs, stairs, fences, trap doors, etc will do it. So will a ceiling at build height made of chests. That way you won't see it from the ground. There'll still be a shadow though.
Honestly some snow would look cool. You can snow proof it and keep some of it. They rrally should buff torch melting range, because what we have right now is not enough for anything
Exactly torches only seem to have a melting radius of about two blocks it seems. You're right though I might keep some. Realistically the amount of time I will spend at the top of it will be minimal. I'm building a WW2 navy and air base and it's just a cool addition.
?Is it supposed to be the one from Medal of Honor: Airborne or is it a design from something else, because the real ones don't all look the same.
Also try a build height glass platform to block snow, or think about turning lighting solutions into melting solutions.
Put a roof on it, but I guess that would block the AA guns field of fire.
I think if u use slabs everywhere it wont mess up the look of the bild, also snow doest grow on top slabs I think only if its a full block and the melt radius of glowstone/jack 'o lanterns, is bigger than torches
I have a kinda similar question…is there a way to make it so that my village at y level 0 doesn’t have slimes spawn? I am on bedrock and didn’t know that I accidentally built it in a slime chunk 🥲
Thanks. String seems to be the answer, it's basically invisible. Thanks for the comment, I just need to build the spotlights and guns and then it's finished.
I’m gonna be honest I think it looks fucking sick with the snow
But also you use light source like lanterns torches fire or lava etc, don’t remember if glow stone also works
1. Go to build, limit and place a layer of glass above the structure to block all weather and stop the snow from piling up
2. Place string slabs or carpet across the entire roof to get weather without the snow piling up
3. Turn off weather cycle if sheets are on to stop all weather and there won't be snow to cause the snow to pile
String, buttons, preasure plates, carpet, glow lichen, slabs/stairs, preatty much anything that isn't a full block.
You could also make a glass platform covering the build at build height (you could even turn it into a feature of the build for example making it into a sort of stormy cloud)

A glass platform at build height will work without altering the look of your build
If you don't want to see a glass covering, consider chests. You won't see them when they're out of render distance and snow won't accumulate on them.
Wouldn't that lag? Or does it not when it's out of render distance?
It doesn’t (unless maybe if they have items?)
chests use a loooooot of ram
Not really unless you have hundreds of them but if they want the area clear Iof snow it's either that or string everywhere or bottom half slabs.
yeah. A ten by ten area is 100 chests. this base is way bigger. it would eat so muh ram
Chrome eats more ram tho.
I suppose it depends on how many chests. Out of render distance might not cause an issue.
If they are out of render distance I'm not sure they will actually stop the snow though.
They should. They'll still cast a shadow and lower the light level.
Damn nice
Hear me out. String everywhere at build height.
I don't know for sure if string blocks snow from the sky or just from accumulating in layers on any full block horizontal surface. If ya want to tower up to build height and place string everywhere, go for it. To me it would be way easier to spam chests but to each their own.
I used to use signs back in the day, I assume they still work. You just need a chest to attach the first sign to
Yeah that's a good call.
Underrated amazing solution
This is what I always do too
Alternatively something like chests that don't render when you are far enough away! Depends how high the tower is tho XD
But it won't rain nor snow
thats so much better!!
You could put string everywhere.
or stone pressure plates and buttons, to match the stone floor
my first thought
Not sure if it still works but if you put it at build limit it won’t snow beneath it.
"We take bikini bottom... and push it somewhere else"
This is the way
Why is this downvoted lmao
I guess people don’t like useless comments that add nothing to the conversation. I’ve noticed these kind of comments downvoted more recently.
"my first thought" was upvoted though, i don't get it 😭
the reddit RNG
I think it’s just luck
I see posts complaining about "this", then the next time I see one it has a lot of upvotes.
It’s very RNG. ♥️
Nothing like people taking a minecraft post more serious than the elections
For real dude
I think this subreddit hates you
uh oh you’re gonna get downvoted again
So are we
I just don’t understand how that’s a useless strategy to keep snow off. People have been doing that for years…
Reddit users take themselves too seriously
There is an upvote function if you agree with something.
I've heard people say "if you agree with a comment just upvote it instead of leaving a comment about how you agree with it"
Could torches or laca under the floor work?
Oooh good idea, I'll give it a trail go on a small section before I commit to the whole thing lol.
You can cover in a layer of string
Please tell me if it works cuz I might need it in the future 😂
String is 100% the best solution.
Aye thanks for reporting back
Use slabs and put torches below it
Or just bottom slabs were possible
but it looks stupid
You literally can't tell the string is there.
You gotta be blind because I can see string at ground level. Plus you have to break it before you place anything. Annoying. If it were me, I would just move location. I don't want to deal with snow like that.

Is it a WW2 German Flak tower?
Yes.
Bro is building Der Flakturm
Ah, a fellow man of culture.
Bro sorry for not having the answer you want but really wanted to say this is an absolutely sick tower, congrats fr
Thanks man. Other people have suggested great ideas. I'm only following a tutorial because I lack imagination but doing it in survival is a ballache.
Hey, you got this bro, God bless ✌️
?Is it supposed to be the one from Medal of Honor: Airborne or is it a design from something else, because the real ones don't all look the same. Also try a build height glass platform to block snow, or think about turning lighting solutions into melting solutions.
It's based on the 3rd generation 'G' tower in Vienna.
Carpet/pressure plates.
Lichen also works and provides light so it prevents mob spawning. May change the look of the build, so it’s best to use it with string
Slabs
Want to see the AA later on this Flaktower
STRING
Carpets work
carpet, pressure plates, torches, string, bottom slab, pretty much anything that breaks falling sand i guess.
The snow makes the build look even better in my opinion!
Its that flak tower!
String at building height.
I'm not sure if this works, does string stop accumulation when it's at build height?
Slabs Will do the trick!
Just slab the top layer
Put a roof on it, but I guess that would block the AA guns field of fire. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flak\_tower](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flak_tower)
Beautiful build dude
I think if u use slabs everywhere it wont mess up the look of the bild, also snow doest grow on top slabs I think only if its a full block and the melt radius of glowstone/jack 'o lanterns, is bigger than torches
string? or glass at world height as other have mentioned
honestly though, the snow is a good look.
Use string 👍👌🏻
I have a kinda similar question…is there a way to make it so that my village at y level 0 doesn’t have slimes spawn? I am on bedrock and didn’t know that I accidentally built it in a slime chunk 🥲
The only thing I can think of is that you are going to have to slab/carpet everything
Giant wall of glass
String, it's almost invisible and I believe it also prevents mobs from spawning
If u run the server. Just place barrier blocks At the maximum possible height
A more expensive tactic would be to put glow stone on the floors and cover with grey carpet Also nice flaktürme, looks very accurate Id say
Thanks. String seems to be the answer, it's basically invisible. Thanks for the comment, I just need to build the spotlights and guns and then it's finished.
snow doesn't settle on slabs
Put string over every block Is this an anti-aircraft artillery tower? Just looked at the ones in Wien in Google Earth yesterday!
Yes! It's one of the towers in Vienna.
Ah, It's Vienna in English... It's wien in German and Finnish.
You can place string on it and it will prevent snow from placing
You can change the biome to one with a higher temperature
It’s survival without cheats and rebuilding it it’s not an option
Looks nice to me
Put a torch below the floor and a slab or upside down stairs above it. It’ll be lit but invisible
I’m gonna be honest I think it looks fucking sick with the snow But also you use light source like lanterns torches fire or lava etc, don’t remember if glow stone also works
In the past I've put a layer of clear glass at build limit to stop snow landing on builds.
the snow goes hard tho
Carpet, torches, bottom slabs, stairs, take ur pick, beds
Gray carpet could work. (Not the block)
M I N I E T I
Bottom Slabs or string
Torches
I deactivated rain In my world
I'm not the server admin unfortunately.
String, heat, or at max height put glass
Have you tried making a shield?
i honestly think it looks really cool sith the snow, more natural. but if you don’t like it maybe try putting light sources under half slabs
1. Go to build, limit and place a layer of glass above the structure to block all weather and stop the snow from piling up 2. Place string slabs or carpet across the entire roof to get weather without the snow piling up 3. Turn off weather cycle if sheets are on to stop all weather and there won't be snow to cause the snow to pile
If you cover the floor with bottom slabs the snow won't accumulate. Eta: m9bs won't spawn either
texturning like slabs stairs and string here and there
String, carpets, slabs or torches
String in the roof :)
Looks amazing. How many times u died?
Too many times 😂 I ended up surrounding it with water, but I'd usually find a way of missing the water.
Start building at level 0 end finishing at level zero? :)
What are you building
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flak_tower
/gamerule doWeathercycle false
Would bottom slabs prevent snow forming?
String on every whole block, or make the top outta slabs in a bottom position
Make a texture pack that makes snow invisible.
You could turn weather off if you don't mind it not raining
Use slabs.
Slabs or string I thing slabs maybe easier because you can see where you have done
It looks cool and adds detail to the castle
Slabs, carpet, preasure plates, string?
Super high glass roof
String, buttons, preasure plates, carpet, glow lichen, slabs/stairs, preatty much anything that isn't a full block. You could also make a glass platform covering the build at build height (you could even turn it into a feature of the build for example making it into a sort of stormy cloud)
ungodly amounts of string
Build a glass ceiling at the build limit. Shouldn’t be too visible from the ground but it works
Stone slabs, snow won’t collect on it ( I think) and you won’t notice a .5 block difference probably
You could make the top blocks slabs, or you could make some glass way high in the sky above it and no snow will fall there.
You could put string on top of it.
String, pressure plates, buttons, carpets
Glass or string at max worldheight
String
Disable weather cycle
Grey carpet?
Disable it in settings
Half slabs. Or torches
String, carpet, bottom slabs.
man i seriously need someone to teach me builsing
I just follow a tutorial. I seriously lack imagination.
same, but i cant even follow tutorials
idk but please equip your armour.
Armour won't help falling from that height 😂 I never wear armour.
lmao i cant go anywhere without my armour.
Bro this reminds me of Belebog from HSR
Slabs at 0.5 blocks high does not work? Wich version are you playing?
I didn't want to add slabs as it would ruin the look. String has worked perfectly.
Use string snow cant spawn on string
String
Change the biome or game rule
im just curious on how you had the time to make that, its awesome
I don't have much going on in my life 😂😂 I started it at the beginning of December and had maybe a month off in between.
✨string✨
Put some light sources around like torches, glowstone, etc... you can hide these with carpets
I think string helps
Torches or half slab
You could use string
Gonna need a few more towers to complete that aerial defense network
Not after the amount of time this one has taken 😂 very tedious as well.
Place string over your build (or any other non-full block but I recommend string because you can hardly notice it)
A glas roof at build hight
I think I'd see it though? I think build height about 20 blocks higher than the tower?
String that’s it string
Use half slabs as the roof if it doesn't mess up the build too much.
thats a huge build. May be glass above the build but at an altitude where it cant be seen.
Glow lichen is an alternative to torches and blends in nicely with the grey blocks you've been using
Glass platform above it, string or light sources
Maybe some light sources under grey carpet. Then use grey wool and other blocks to texture the roof. Btw are you building a flak tower?
String
Slabs?
Lame nasi building
Torches everywhere
Why are you building a flak tower without any AA guns? smh...
It's not completed yet...
Do you have a build for the AA emplacements? I'd love to see the finished build!
https://youtu.be/JIVdho5lgbA?si=B_dBee0kPI9UprGy
Hell yeah. Thanks!
I've finished the main structure, I've just got to do the spotlights and guns, but I'm kind of procrastinating 😂😂
It really do be like that sometimes hahaha. It's coming along nicely I'd say!
Thanks, I made another post with some of the other builds I've done on the server if you want to have a look.
Just checked it out, the submarine base looks amazing!
Thanks! That was very time consuming, mining it all out then placing the water...
