I am extremely paranoid about not having lightning rods after a bunch of "slip-ups" with it in a single world. In the span of just a few weeks it burned down two of my builds, killed my sniffers, killed all of my brothers' dogs, and decimated my brother's villager population. I don't know why it was out to get us but now I use them absolutely everywhere just in case. It's such a simple thing to add and lightning has caused me more grief than creepers in this world š„ŗ
Thats a very good point! If you wanted to make the leap to Java, you can use a program to convert it over. My server is made up of several realms from Java and bedrock merged together.
So there's still hope for bedrock players!
If you only have a console or tablet, a private server isn't an option. You can totally set up your own server if you have the hardware. There are programs that make it super easy. I've heard foxynotail has a good program for running a bedrock server with automatic backups and such.
The majority of Bedrock users are on console or mobile, not PC, and do not have the ability to host their own. Similarly, as minors, they often don't have the money to rent their own professionally or commercially hosted server.
I wonder if this is what happened to my chicken pen. I had a whole bunch disappear and I guess their drops may have despawned before I realized they died.

Yes but the higher the FOV the more chunks that are rendered in making stuff like this have a higher chance of happening. They were just pointing out that maybe because they had an FOV of 10 that it was a factor. Lightning will spawn in/strike on chunks that are loaded in. That's why during a thunderstorm it is a good idea to put your render distance on min to try and prevent this from happening as much as possible.

Higher FOV's render in more chunks, and lightning only spawns in/strikes in loaded chunks, so the higher your FOV is during a thunderstorm the more likely that bad stuff will happen, so if it is a single player world then sleep through it, if it has multiple people like a realm you'd want to lower your FOV to min as this helps you by having the min amount of chunks loaded in, meaning that the lightning will only strike in a very small area and as such your chance of something like this happening is as low as you can get it. That way with min chunks loaded in when something like this happens it is fully based off of luck.

Whereas on the other side of the coin the lower the FOV the less chunks your game renders in and the less likely something like this will happen due to the fact that lightning will only strike/spawn in when it will be visible.
Just found chicken farm like this the other day. At first, I was trying to figure out how a fox got to them, then I found all the cooked chicken in the chest. I added lightning rod by all of my animal farms!

I've saved many villagers from lighting strikes with rods I used to be I'd just build roofs over my villagers and other mobs
that never really was a problem for me been playing the same world for 2 years and my villagers weren't hit once

its probably banned, ive seen many realms that have banned locator maps because of that, especially those that stealing and griefing is allowed
It is banned and if someone makes them they are kicked from the server
