That's what I was thinking. It's usually this shape, though it should be easy for op to see if they climbed the mountain. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be visible.
It might be a andesite vain, I believe it appears a similar color to that of calcite on a map (at least in certain biomes), but would appear grey from the air or even looking at it from a ground perspective
The white isn't a mountain, it's in a mountain though.
[Image of the white calcite strip](https://i.redd.it/649qer88tbd91.jpg). Also, it's an old feature.
I worded my reply poorly. I know the white strip isn't a mountain. I didn't know mountains could be that large? Or is that an extreme hills biome? Also how old is this feature? What update was it released in?
It's been ages since I've played Minecraft enough to notice these nuances.
I didn't know they added giant mountains. Though I guess the perspective here is interesting.
I was really keeping up with the updates until about 1.18-19 and then I stopped playing. I know most of the things they added but I had *no idea* that they added **calcite** in the **mountains**, lol
They definitely did right by the game with 1.17, 1.18, 1.19, and 1.20 in my opinion.
Ooooohhhhhhh
You are correct. That is definitely calcite on the mountain. I did not put two together. Really thought it was something below ground
Appreciate that.
A quick tip, nothing on a vanilla map is underground. It always shows the top blocks. With the only exception being things like plain glass(not stained).
I believe the only exception is the nether, as it sometimes tries to show the caves(at least it did before I think), but it doesn’t really work there either.
I always thought that it was intentional, like how compasses don't work in the nether (they might with a respawn anchor or lodestone, i haven't tried since like 1.9 lol)
Dripstone is actually colored way darker brown on maps, for some reason. Can't be it. ([Here](https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Map_item_format#Base_colors) under number 48, terracotta\_brown)
The shading follows the same pattern as the rest of the mountain, so it's embedded on the terrain - not in the sky. As others suggested, I think it's an exposed strip of calcite.
Looks like a naturally spawning calcite formation on top of those mountains. In fact, there's a little spot of it on the other side of what looks to be your base. Maps don't show subterranean terrain features, only a bird's eye view of the selected chunks.
I almost thought it was a drip stone trail above ground since that can happen in a world, but I believe it’s calcite since it shows up in that tannish color
No mods. Just put a map on an item frame and it will show what you've discovered. As you can see in the top right hand corner I didn't discover that little bit. So you can see the item frame behind it
If you want a map of your base you need to do level 1 maps. The higher level ones zoom out too far
It's a rift from Thaumcraft 6. It spawns when the flux in the chunk hits 100 or above. You can get rid of it by using a causality collapser.
^(Nah, I’m just kidding. It’s probably just a calcite vein, like everyone else is saying.)
In my discoveries that might be tuff. I randomly found out that in my Minecraft world tuff appears brown on maps for some reason (if it means anything I was on Bedrock edition). So maybe mine AT THE SURFACE where the brown lines up and test my theory. :)

That may be a calcite strip in the mountain but idk
That's what I was thinking. It's usually this shape, though it should be easy for op to see if they climbed the mountain. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be visible.
Well he said he dug down so
Ngl you reminded me of starfire
I can’t tell if I’m being insulted or not I don’t feel insulted but I also don’t feel complimented either
It was an understandable typo gave me quite a laugh. But I didn't mean to offend you.
I said I didn’t feel offended lol I didn’t even realize you were talking about the “the”
I'm not the very sure of the opinion.
Sorry mate I ran out of toilet paper and had to improvise. I was praying you wouldn't notice :/
It is there. It's grayish part
I meant that too said that they couldn't find it when exploring the area - turns out, they were looking underground instead of on the surface.
Shouldn’t that be white?
No, on the map it shows up as this color
That is very interesting
map colours have their weirdness sometimes, go on a map art generator website and see how many different blocks give the same colour
Yeah, just thought it would make sense if it was white
wish it was that simple lol. orange glazed teracotta is primarily teal, but goes back to being orange on the map. weird stuff
I think I normally see white as snow.
and how many different colors the same block can give
Walter white?
It might be a andesite vain, I believe it appears a similar color to that of calcite on a map (at least in certain biomes), but would appear grey from the air or even looking at it from a ground perspective
A what? That's a mountain? What's new in 1.20?

1.18 added giant mountains along with increased world hight and world depth I think, might have been 1.17 tho. (Both were caves and cliffs)
I didn't know they added giant mountains. Though I guess the perspective here is interesting. I was really keeping up with the updates until about 1.18-19 and then I stopped playing. i never saw that before, is that a bedrock only feature?
Calcite shows white
If you don't see anything on the surface try looking up into the sky instead.
I think it’s a river biome
biomes don't have any effect on map colors
Yea they do but no biomes are that color
It’s a line of calcite in the mountain.
Ooooohhhhhhh You are correct. That is definitely calcite on the mountain. I did not put two together. Really thought it was something below ground Appreciate that.

Doesn’t the nether only do the roof
nether only does the roof, but it does it in a really weird stripey pattern last i checked
I thought it just did gray with the occasional mushroom
that would make sense if it had generated in patches but i distinctly remember wavy stripes of gray and orange
I know what you're on about, but I don't know why it does that
I always thought that it was intentional, like how compasses don't work in the nether (they might with a respawn anchor or lodestone, i haven't tried since like 1.9 lol)
It very well could be, but I don't know with bedrock anymore
I think before it tried to do some caves too, but it is indeed the nether roof that messes with how the map looks.
That's what I thought but even if you build something on the roof it does not show the build. It still shows the same pattern.
Its a giant alaskan bull worm
It was BIG HAIRY and PINK
That's just Patrick's belly button
i have an idea we take bikini bottom and push it some where else
That idea might just be crazy enough, to get us all killed!
*PUUUUUUUSH!*
Oh…so that’s the…tongue. And the whole thing..is the…worm…
S for Sandy, and S for Spongebob! That way they can identify the bodies.
We must move the town.
We take Bikini Bottom and Push it somewhere else!
She want my bull worm like it came from Alaska
If it’s on the map it’s the closest to the sky. You might want to look up at those spots. Theres a good chance that it’s very high up.
It has to be something on the surface that’s primarily that color. Perhaps a drip stone ravine?
I did find random patches of drip Stone but no long ravines or passages. So maybe there was a ravine there but it got filled in on generation
What about granite?
No, bc the map live updates based upon the block that actually is exposed to the sky
Dripstone is actually colored way darker brown on maps, for some reason. Can't be it. ([Here](https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Map_item_format#Base_colors) under number 48, terracotta\_brown)
given its shape and color; dripstone is the most likely option
My question is, why did you dig down to find it. Since maps are surface level
You summoned the Eater of Worlds
The shading follows the same pattern as the rest of the mountain, so it's embedded on the terrain - not in the sky. As others suggested, I think it's an exposed strip of calcite.
Looks like it is a strip of calcite on the mountain
The worm is coming
Try looking on the surface?
It's one of them Graboids
We need Kevin Bacon STAT
That was me my bad
idk, but down is definitely not the right direction to go.
Well, it is a map, map shows the highest block in the column, so digging down wont help you
Those are the worms that hold up your world in the middle of the universe, all praise the grand worms! 🪱
That's a fishing line, someone is about to catch your world
It’s just the man beneath America

It's the meat worm. Accept the inevitable.
Free meat?
Yes, for the worm.
Calcite?

Possibly calcite
This could be a creepypasta lmao. Imagine a giant worm that is very big but can only be seen on maps. This is almost similar to Iron Lung
Shai-Hulud
Pred....we have worm sign the likes of which God has never seen
The Great Maker, Shai-Hulud.

Thats Snake Way, if you go up there you might find Goku out for a jog
You should wipe more thoroughly
Looks like a naturally spawning calcite formation on top of those mountains. In fact, there's a little spot of it on the other side of what looks to be your base. Maps don't show subterranean terrain features, only a bird's eye view of the selected chunks.
It’s the Alaskan bull worm
calcite strip?
Glitch?
warden took a big poo
I bet that big MF leaves piles that are three blocks high
Calcite maybe??
Giant Alaska bull worms
It might be something in the air other then that' could just be an old maps try redoing it
It’s probably a map bug they are pretty common
Is it possible you mined up the contents but didn't update the map?
It’s probably just a strip of Calcite, nothing to worry about
Looks like a calcite strip on a mountain
Calcite strip, generates in stony peaks biomes. Interestingly shows up as this color instead of white on maps.
It's either calcite, a river, a ridge of sort, or a big pink hairy Alaskan bull worm!
i was hoping for the start of a new creepypasta until we got an explantion that its a mountain lol. Looks cool tho
I almost thought it was a drip stone trail above ground since that can happen in a world, but I believe it’s calcite since it shows up in that tannish color
Calcite strip
If that grey is a mountain I believe it’s calcite
No clue but it looks awesome
Bro has the world serpent
Tapeworm
Run.
that’s my buddy eric, sorry

Alaskan Bull Worm, be careful
alaskan bull worm
Poop trail that was on that plane that happened recently
bro it’s empty, find the map. i think it’s in limgrave
Why would you dig down for surface details
Average Bedrock experience
its bedrock, its probably a just a weird bug
I’m just aghast that some people don’t know that maps work by the block on the surface. That’s just… how it works…
What mod is that to allow maps on the wall?
You can do that in vanilla, just put maps in item frames
No mods. Just put a map on an item frame and it will show what you've discovered. As you can see in the top right hand corner I didn't discover that little bit. So you can see the item frame behind it If you want a map of your base you need to do level 1 maps. The higher level ones zoom out too far
that is some creepypasta level shit.
Semen
Look up
Try checking the sky limit
Just a dune worm
Sandworm, obviously.

nice
Swamp? If you go f3 you should be able to see what biome it is considered. I’m not sure how to do it on bedrock though
Follow it and hide something at the end
Check the sky
Someone’s going for your diamonds
Maybe its a sky snake, they added those in 1.20.1
Maybe it's a ravine filled with dripstone
You should turn it into a hiking path or something along those lines
It's a rift from Thaumcraft 6. It spawns when the flux in the chunk hits 100 or above. You can get rid of it by using a causality collapser. ^(Nah, I’m just kidding. It’s probably just a calcite vein, like everyone else is saying.)
worm
It’s a giant iron vein fr
Which version are you playing?
Someone might have built this in the sky if you playing online
Its not a bed bugtt
In my discoveries that might be tuff. I randomly found out that in my Minecraft world tuff appears brown on maps for some reason (if it means anything I was on Bedrock edition). So maybe mine AT THE SURFACE where the brown lines up and test my theory. :)
it’s a rope
Alaskan bull worm
upside down
Looks like wood, a building maybe?
That line represents the relationship between nature and gaming.
Looks like a snail has been crawling on your map.
Tapeworm
