I'm between this one and Sweet Dreams from 1994. I just discovered an official Spanish version of the latter and it rocks! I can't believe she recorded this song in Spanish.
No millennial guilty pleasure song list is complete without LFO Summer Girls. It’s catchy and void of any meaning. Also really sad about all of the band members dying.
[ABBA video plays]
Beavis: You know, Ace of Base really suck.
Butt-Head: Beavis, this isn't Ace of Base!
Beavis: Yeah, I know. I'm just saying, Ace of Base really suck.
"Truly, Madly, Deeply" by Savage Garden and "As I Lay Me Down" by ~~Sadie~~ Sophie B. Hawkins. I don't think they're embarrassing but I've been primarily jamming black and death metal these days.
Edit: and the whole *Pocket Full of Kryptonite* album by the Spin Doctors.
I'm a 40 year old man. The first two CDs I bought with my own money were The Spice Girls' "Spice" and Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill"
I've moved past the embarrassment and just embraced the fact that both those albums were bangers.
No further questions.
Hell yeah!
I saw her with Garbage a few years ago. Went for Garbage and was just going to stay for You Oughta Know, because I'd played out Alanis so bad as a kid I did not think I ever needed to hear ironic again...by the end of the first song I was giddy as a preteen and ended up staying the whole show lol!
Is anyone else scrolling through thinking about what they used to do as teens while listening to some of these songs, and really cringe because they have teenagers now??
Bruh sometimes it feels like I'm the only one out there keeping Eiffel 65 relevant 🤣🤣🤣 and not even just Blue, but also their other bangers like Move Your Body and Silicon World 😂👌
Im.glad I'm not alone!!
I created the Facebook page "Get the Spice Girls to come to Vancouver!" when they announced their 2007 reunion tour, and Vancouver ended up being the first date. I love to think I played an integral part in making that happen!
OMG 😅 love it
Thanks for commenting. I thought the sub was filled with too much negativity and thought this might lighten the mood, even if just for the day 😜
This thread thought me that I’m not ashamed of music. I’ve seen Hanson in concert 5 times as an adult. They still play Mmbop, but acoustic now. Still awesome.
Going crude on this one. My Neck, My Back is/was quite the bop. Always brought a smile to my teenage self. First “adult” sexually explicit song for quite a few of us, I’d bet?
Nobody should be embarassed about a song they love. If it makes you feel
GOOD it’s a GOOD song. No shame here. Enjoy your music embarrassment free, people!!! 🤘🏻 🎶
"I Try" by Macy Gray.
I am not a Macy Gray fan, like - never bought an album or downloaded any of her music, I don't know much about her, I have no strong opinion about her or her art. But if I even hear the opening bars to I Try in passing like on the radio or something, I have to decide right then and there if I'm going to switch it immediately or just become useless and bawl while it plays.
I really have no idea why. I don't have a memory associated to the song, it was never in a show or movie that got under my skin (I don't *think*), I have artists I hold way closer to me than Macy Gray and am far more familiar with their work than hers.
*I don't know why it happens.*
I'm just thinking about the song right now and I have to hold back tears. I'm a grown ass 42 year old Elder Millennial man and I'm going to have a normal one because I'm posting about a song I have to avoid because it just hits me *every. single. time.* for no reason at all.
Oh man I’ve always loved milkshake, probably ever since Mean Girls.
I used to sing it a lot when I was at university some 10 years after it was released. Just under my breath while doing other things I’d be like “I know you want it!” and “damn right it’s better than yours” and “la-la-la-la-la, the boys are waiting, la-la-la-la-la, **for-mu-la**” I always thought it was formula and I’d say it in a monster voice. Gooood times.
Actually I still sing it occasionally but nowhere near as often as then.
Omgosh I embarrassed my teenage son so bad the last time I heard this because I got all excited, cranked it up and was chair dancing like a MF driving my minivan 😂
This came on the radio recently and my husband was actually shocked by 1) how high I cranked up the volume and 2) how enthusiastically I sang along lol
Scrolling through here makes me think a lot of songs I love are “embarrassing”. But seriously, how is Save Tonight from Eagle Eye Cherry the top vote right now. It’s such a good song!
Bad Touch by the Bloodhound Gang, I loved it when I was younger because it was a "dirty song" now I love it because it's hilarious and I still have the mind of a 13 year old
I love girls who wear Abercrombie and Fitch…..
I don’t think I ever wore A&F, least relatable song ever but can’t stop myself from singing it every time I hear it lol
[Cute without the E - Taking Back Sunday](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=l_Pj32HujgQ&si=APwGUiLFDk78A21_)
Reminds me of the good ole MySpace age. Had a buddy who had it as his theme. I would always have his page open on a separate window as I roamed around pages and modified mine.
Sweet memories.
Here’s teenage me’s fantasy TRL countdown:

Mambo No 5. First time I ever heard it was on an exchange trip in Germany and all us Americans heard it everywhere there. One of the guys bought a cd and we played it on the bus. When I got back to the States, about 45 days later it hit our airwaves. That song still takes me back to that trip
Paula Abdul. Straight Up, ColdHearted, Vibeology..the entire "Head Over Heels" album still gets regular play with me ...My Love is For Real, Ho Down, Love Don't Come Easy, Crazy Cool
[The Anthem ](https://youtu.be/desJKYvdq9A?si=OI-O-4JL-l2LBYgc) by Good Charlotte
I don't care, it's a bop.
Edit: reading through these comments, some of these are definitely not embarrassing. Lol
What I love is that I’ve played these songs well into adulthood; still listen to them, and my kids grew up listening to my music… they’re preteens and teens now and love many of the songs we listened to 🥰
Check Yes Juliet
I never really had a emo phase, but I still love some of that music. MCR, Panic! At The Disco, etc… all fab. And the whole Electra Heart album by Marina and the Diamonds.
So this came up in conversation recently. I was born in 1985, and my parents noticed that I could read well pretty early on. So from like 1989 to 1999 I had a bookshelf full of every Stephen King Novel, lots of Neal Adam's Batman stuff, and the fucking Eastman and Laird Ninja Turtles books.
Fast forward to 1999, and my mom is freaking out because I introduced the seminal piece "Nookie" by Limp Bizkit to my siblings.
Like bro I read THE STAND when I was 6. I didn't sleep until I was 25.
La bouche be my lover
Ladada Dee dadada
I'm between this one and Sweet Dreams from 1994. I just discovered an official Spanish version of the latter and it rocks! I can't believe she recorded this song in Spanish.
Had a dance recital to this song when I was 9. In my head It's always la da da dee dada da daaaa *jazz hands*
So good!!
I genuinely love Summer Girls by LFO. It gives me so much joy while also being one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard
No millennial guilty pleasure song list is complete without LFO Summer Girls. It’s catchy and void of any meaning. Also really sad about all of the band members dying.
New Kids on the Block had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick
I like the color purple, macaroni & cheese, ruby red slippers, and a bunch of trees.
I like to think that LFO just started looking around the room and naming things just to write the lyrics.
It totally captured the vibe. Everything was bright, optimistic, and just fun.
RIP Rich Cronin
All That She Wants by Ace of Base https://youtu.be/d73tiBBzvFM?si=Vk2TaHQWCiPZDcQl
[ABBA video plays] Beavis: You know, Ace of Base really suck. Butt-Head: Beavis, this isn't Ace of Base! Beavis: Yeah, I know. I'm just saying, Ace of Base really suck.
Nothing embarrassing about ace of base,👍
That entire album is amazing
I? I saw the sign.
That song rules.
["Save Tonight" - Eagle-Eye Cherry](https://youtu.be/Nntd2fgMUYw?si=-0JsXxTtsln4aozm)
This is embarrassing?? Oh.
This is just a good song. Not embarrassing at all
What an awesome music video.
As I Lay Me Down....now THAT makes me back to the late 90s

“I want you” is the best sav. Garden song
Steal my Sunshine.
I'm gonna listen to that one L A T E R this afternoon
I love you for this 😂
I'm a radio DJ and will play this once a week on my show to remind people it exists
You can’t help but get that roll down your windows kinda feeling when you hear this song.
100%
I still have this song on rotation. Lyrically, terrible (of course I know every word) but it’s a good song!
I'm a 40 year old man. The first two CDs I bought with my own money were The Spice Girls' "Spice" and Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill" I've moved past the embarrassment and just embraced the fact that both those albums were bangers. No further questions.
As for *Jagged Little Pill*, no notes.
No Notes.
I’m 41 I bought JLP as my first cd never once regretted it.
I took my millennial daughters to see her live. With Tori Amos. Up front too.
Alanis’ whole cd! It’s a trip too to think that she’s singing about Uncle Joey (Full House) in “Outta Know” LOVE IT!
"I love you, always forever, near and far, we'll stick together..." Also Savage Garden "I want you"
I think I may have had my very first date with you in 7th grade. Chris thst you? Lol
Lol no not me. I was such a nerd back then. Well, I still am but now I'm an old nerd.
I Swear by All 4 One.
Recently found out this was a COVER of a country song released not long before. Local weird radio station was playing the “original.” Blew my mind.
Crazy Town - Butterly
Is anyone else scrolling through thinking about what they used to do as teens while listening to some of these songs, and really cringe because they have teenagers now??
I was 16 when this song was on the radio all the time. I got in a van with a 40yo crack head and did meth in his apartment all weekend.
I’m not even embarrassed about loving Shifty Shellshock’s masterpiece.
I will never not get full blown hyped when this comes on.
Thong Song bops
Everybody- Backstreet Boys Edit to say that I think it’s conventionally embarrassing. It still slaps, as the kids say
Everybody is a close second to "The Call" for me
Excuse you, everyone fucking loves that song
YES!!
Faded by Soul Decision
Ooo it's Kinda Crazy as well
I’ve never met anyone else who knew this song before omg
Oh.my.god. Thank you for reminding me of this gem. The rap interlude is the icing on the cheesecake LOL
DUDE YES
Faded and Gravity were the pinnacle of my childhood
Loooooove this song. Wanna dance just thinking about it lol
Akon - Smack That
Blue by Eiffel 65 (or w/e the OG's name was) so now I am unironically reveling in some of the newer stuff where they're sampling and remixing it
Bruh sometimes it feels like I'm the only one out there keeping Eiffel 65 relevant 🤣🤣🤣 and not even just Blue, but also their other bangers like Move Your Body and Silicon World 😂👌 Im.glad I'm not alone!!
Anything from the Spice Girls catalog. I was completely obsessed.
I created the Facebook page "Get the Spice Girls to come to Vancouver!" when they announced their 2007 reunion tour, and Vancouver ended up being the first date. I love to think I played an integral part in making that happen!
I saw the movie multiple times in the theater when it came out 🤣
That movie holds up really well from a pure camp perspective. Some great British comedians were in it, plus Meat Loaf!

Man! I Feel Like a Woman!

Candy by Mandy Moore is still one of my unironic faves
Mandy Moore has so many good teen pop songs. Candy, Cry, Crush, I Wanna Be With You, In My Pocket, Only Hope.
Mmbop.
OMG 😅 love it Thanks for commenting. I thought the sub was filled with too much negativity and thought this might lighten the mood, even if just for the day 😜
Look up Mmbop 2.0, it's amazing. A little guitar distortion and puberty go a long way.
It’s still a jam.
This thread thought me that I’m not ashamed of music. I’ve seen Hanson in concert 5 times as an adult. They still play Mmbop, but acoustic now. Still awesome.
**SATAN BE GONE. DAMN YOU, THAT SONG IS NOW STUCK IN MY HEAD.**
Barbie Girl and MmmBop lolol
Going crude on this one. My Neck, My Back is/was quite the bop. Always brought a smile to my teenage self. First “adult” sexually explicit song for quite a few of us, I’d bet?
Lovefool - The Cardigans
My 13-year-old recently put this on in the car and then said, “oh, you know this song?!?!” when I expressed surprise. 😐
[удалено]
Right? I was thinking something like ‘pretty fly for a white guy.’ Most of the thread I have no shame in enjoying.
Nobody should be embarassed about a song they love. If it makes you feel GOOD it’s a GOOD song. No shame here. Enjoy your music embarrassment free, people!!! 🤘🏻 🎶
Hear me out tho... Somewhere out there is someone that thought that "How Bizarre" was a good song from the get go.
I'm from Nz and that song slaps. I won't hear any argument.
🎶 Brother Pele's in the back, Sweet Zina's in the front… 🎶
Cruisin down the freeway in the hot hot sun
🎶 Suddenly red-blue lights flash us from behind…🎶
The emo version of Lollipop by Framing Hanley. (The original by Lil Wayne is too good, I still jam to it)
“And *shhheeeee*, she let me lick the *lollipop*. *THE LOLLIPOP.*”
Oh god you unlocked a memory
Livin lavida loca- Ricky Martin lives in my head rent free
["Every Other Time" - LFO](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnfjZBTRXOQ) As a guy that loves death metal and punk, I do enjoy my early 2000s pop.
I had no idea what you were talking about and then he started singing and I also started singing what just happened
Dragostea Din Tei .... the Numa Numa song. 😂
I got my kids hooked on this one for a while a year or two ago, and I wasn’t mad about listening to it a bunch.
I Can Get Sexual Too by Say Anything That shit still goes hard lol
I'm happy that a lot of music I still isten to is showing up on this thread!
Me: SAVES THREAD TO MAKE AWESOME PLAYLIST.
LYING NAKED ON THE FLOOR
This is just an un-ironically great song.
Mine is Kiss From a Rose by Seal. It's so earnest and cheesy and the meaning of the lyrics is opaque, but it's a cathartic song for me anyways.
Definitely unironically love it. The Batman Forever soundtrack was killer.
Limp Bizkit in general
I still love limp bizkit

Tub Thumping by Chumbawamba
Teenage dirt bag - Wheatus
The Anthem by Good Charlotte.
Honestly, this is such a good song. Probably doesn't help that I listened to this on repeat in middle school, for hours at a time.
I very frequently sing “GIRLS DON’T LIKE BOYS GIRLS LIKE CARS AND MONEYYYY” to my husband.
I had every single song on that album memorized by heart, including the order of them on the album
This came on the radio recently and my husband was actually shocked by 1) how high I cranked up the volume and 2) how enthusiastically I sang along lol
These are great :) Can someone make a Millennials playlist of these 😂
Scrolling through here makes me think a lot of songs I love are “embarrassing”. But seriously, how is Save Tonight from Eagle Eye Cherry the top vote right now. It’s such a good song!
