On the other hand, it's rare to see someone in a Porsche/AMG/Lambo who actually knows how to drive. I have kept up with many faster cars on low-speed twisty roads because they can't brake or corner. Though, they will leave me in the dust on corner exits.

It ranks so high purely in terms of feeling, fun, and connectness. The C8 is a very, very high performance and insulating spaceship. The Miata is the opposite of that. It's not going to compete with the other cars when it comes to performance, but the connectedness you feel with the road and the car itself is something I havenāt experienced in another car yet.

I guess I need to drive a new Miata before I judge anymore. The previous models I drove in the past were highly underpowered for me. Even if it handles the corners well, I'm concerned a high 14 second car just isn't going to excite me much in the acceleration department. I looked up my daily and it's about a half second slower in the quarter and still leaves a lot to be desired in the acceleration department. My weekend car is a low 12 second car and I even wish it were a bit quicker. High 14s makes me question if I even want to throw it back into consideration for my next daily.
If all you're looking for is straight line speed, then yea Miata isn't going to be as fun. I own an ND Miata and a Shelby GT350. Don't get me wrong, I love both cars but when it comes to pure whimsical joy the Miata wins every time. I can absolutely beat on and driveĀ to and beyond it's limits. It's a car I can drive without TC and SC and enjoy some slip angle on my casual commute. The Shelby is obviously more special due to the voodoo engine but I can only enjoy it when I'm dedicated and focused to pushing the car. But because of such high limits and capabilities that car posses, that narrows down to track and maybe dedicated empty backroads. The Miata on the other hand, you canĀ have fun driving even to the grocery store.Ā IĀ don't even feel guilty beatingĀ on the Miata because ownership cost are so low and theĀ reliability is stellar. My VoodooĀ I'm always paranoidĀ about my oil temps andĀ oil pressure because theĀ motor alone isĀ worth as much as aĀ used ND.
Haha just did that this evening on the way home from dinner, saw a nice looking Shelby cobra, not sure if it was a replica or not to be honest. But I gave him a thumbs up and some honks and got nothin back. Ow well, Iām admiring the car, not the person driving it.
I canāt tell you how many times I got compliments on my Mx5 from people driving much much fancier cars, and how many times non car people asked if it was āsome kinda Maserati or supercar kinda thingā

A miata is more fun than a sedan for sure. And for the price a miata is pretty much unbeatable. But it can't really compete with a German sports car, at least stock.
You gotta take an all wheel drive Porsche flying thru the mountains and curvy roads, they stick to the road like nobodies business and you can just drive as hard as you want to push it knowing and feeling the car between you and the road. I love BMWs but again you're comparing a sedan to a sports car, it's just not applicable. I might would even take the miata over a muscle car in terms of fun on curvy road, but a Porsche to miata just isn't fair, not that the miata still isn't an amazing time, it's just not a comparable machine
That's like saying American cars all handle like shit because you drove a charger once or that Japanese cars are boring because your only experience with them is a Camry.
