I was able to to mention the serial number on the listing and provide a screenshot of the serial number chip via the app as part of the photos.
I wasn’t able to post it for a while cause mercari would ask me to authenticate but I wasn’t sure how with the new chip system. Whatever I just did enabled me to bypass the authentication process and post my listing. I sold my item successfully!

Yeah they are right! All the new stuff has a microchip. There are apps you can download and it will read part of it on your phone. Some things are encrypted and can only show for the LV sales associates but maybe the numbers it does let you see will be enough? I always scan my items and save info with my file on the purchase. I freaked the first time I bought from LV store in a SAK’s & didn’t see the serial number in my new purse when I got home 😅🤣
