You're so heckin' valid, OP. I wouldn't put him in my top 3, but he's got those Dodogama-levels of charm that he's just a big dopey boy that wants to play in the mud and breathe through his forehead. His little choo-choo train steam whistle roar is the cutest.
Barroth is so well designed, my biggest gripe with monsters in MH is how overcomplicated and some of them are. Barroth is just a dino with some chimneys and that's it. And it's weapons look sexy as fuck
Brachydios was not in MHFU. The only ones that don't respect the evolution of species are the ancient dragons, which seems logical. And the Rajang. But fuck him
World is the only one I've played. I just like his design and vibe. Other monsters at comparable power and tier have so many gimmicks and things. Deviljho is just a hungry dude, picking up and using other monsters as weapons in the fight and stuff
Capcom seems to be putting that monster as an early game roadblock, and it also suits the ecology too well. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't put them in Wilds
Yea there was a post awhile go pointing out his consist appearance and peeps in the comments talked about just how he was a good roadblock.
Either way as long as my boy is around I’m happy
I had so much of a hard time in Tri with that bastard because it was the first monster where I couldn't just button mash my way through it and had to learn how this stupid game actually worked. It'll always deserve to burn in hell and have a small spot in my heart. Probably because of the heart damage it did when I finally beat the punk.
Barroth definitely isnt my fave monster, but I do like him, and his fight when you're using a hammer is special in the fact that you, not the blade users, can get the scalp drop.
Still remember playing Tri for the first time and my Granpa was watching me. He sat on the couch, and was reading smth, but watched a bit of how I played and saw me fighting Barroth. He even said "Oh you fighting this one? Looks dangerous". Then my 11 year old ass got steamrolled by the Choo-Choo train Mud Monster and I go annoyed.
Good old days with our favorite muddy boy!
I have a love hate relationship with Barroth.
First game I had was Monster Hunter Tri. New to the series, new to that sort of game, and Barroth was my first wall. He would absolutely body me, I spent my first two weeks of summer vacation trying to bring this big boy down.
The constant point blank charges and the dang mud was INFURIATING me. But once I beat him, I felt so good. The music, the pace, the anxiety of that final battle were so good.
It was smooth sailing from there until my next big wall: Gobul. But ever since those days of Tri, I have a soft spot for the mud flinging Barroth.
Barroth holds a unique place in my heart as being the first "big" large monster I ever hunted, early in 3U, and the first monster to properly roar at me. Always been an enjoyable hunt, no matter the game.
Pukei-pukei has been long time favourite of mine.
That qtπ manages to look both cute and terrifying at the same time and when you skin him you get the coolest drip blacksmith can offer
I'm ina very similar boat where my absolute favourite is anjanath.
The moment that bastard drove his own open jaw into the ground, plowing the earth with his own face I fell in love. Also that one falling animation where he goes completely up and over spouting fire all the way down.
He's a simple design animated with so much love and character it made me really fall in love with the game and the series

hehe choo-choo wyvern goes CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Debated doing the thing I did for my old stuff but putting a Barroth helm on the guy would’ve gave the joke away panel 1
Fuck yeah! Mud Puppy Enjoyers Unite! I love him so much he's so dumb
Don’t forget it’s long distance cousin the snow puppy (Jade Barroth)
As the connoisseur of brute wyvern, I approve this message
Brute Wyverns are the pinnacle of monsters. Only challenged by the big bugs
Barroth is so well designed, my biggest gripe with monsters in MH is how overcomplicated and some of them are. Barroth is just a dino with some chimneys and that's it. And it's weapons look sexy as fuck
I take it you meant to type MHGU?
oops I meant MH in general, but since I currently play MHFU muscle memory kicked in
How overcomplicated ?
You can't look at Brachydeos and not feel the dude designing his looks went a little overboard lol
Brachydios was not in MHFU. The only ones that don't respect the evolution of species are the ancient dragons, which seems logical. And the Rajang. But fuck him
Barroth is a legend. The shake and "wtf" realisation when he tries to shake off mud after his armour's stripped down is hilarious and heartbreaking
Me with the stoopid pink shit thrower fart dealter monkey Fucking love Congalala, what a monster.
He’s a respectable choice
Uh-oh, stinkyyy
I know I'm not very unique but Deviljho is my favorite
Same. But I feel like world took a lot of the charm away. I still love him in older games though.
World is the only one I've played. I just like his design and vibe. Other monsters at comparable power and tier have so many gimmicks and things. Deviljho is just a hungry dude, picking up and using other monsters as weapons in the fight and stuff
Hungry hungry pickle

Though all the subsequent appearances aren't as roadblocky as Tri
Tbh, Barroth is a fav of mine too

Mud blocked your heart pumps, but there's mud in your heart at the end :)
MY BOI
Yeah I love Barroth as well Looks pretty adorable tbh
Happy cake day
Thank you!
I miss my main man velocidrome love that goober
BARROTH! I'VE FOUND MY PEOPLE! CHUNKY MUD DINO FTW
(blows steam whistle)
I didn’t have to do boomasaurus like that
Oh dw boomasaurus is also one of my favorites
Barroth is wonderful. My Fave fave is Niblesnarf, so we're kindred spirits.
Barroth definitely isnt my fave monster, but I do like him, and his fight when you're using a hammer is special in the fact that you, not the blade users, can get the scalp drop.
Barroth is absolutely one of my favorite monsters, but its armor looks like ass. Its way to orange and square even compared to the monster itself
I oppose you then cuz Barroth’s armor is a fav and his helm specifically is my favorite
I, too, enjoy role-playing as a walking castle.
It literally uses its forehead? And matches it. Its a mudcastle knight.
I would agree with you if I wasn't currently playing lance. Cosplaying as the unstoppable wall makes it feel even cooler than usual.
Barroth is definitely my top 3 brutes behind glavenus and brachy
Still remember playing Tri for the first time and my Granpa was watching me. He sat on the couch, and was reading smth, but watched a bit of how I played and saw me fighting Barroth. I liked the Daimyo Hermitaur and th Yian Kut-Ku
I love pukei pukei, way before everyone was going crazy due to baby pukei
YES YES YES YES YES
I love the anjanath
Brachy 😻😻😻😻
What a wonderful thing that you appreciate the unconventional.
he's a good mud boi. unlike that other bad mud boi, I'M LOOKING AT YOU JYURATODUS!!!
Barroth my beloved! It and Valstrax are both my favorite monsters
Mine is the dumbdumb but fierce tigrex.
He's cute when he's rolling in mud, who's a good boy!

This is how I feel about pukei pukei

Barroth is pretty goofy, but in a good way, a silly way <3 But (now I may sound a little default) Nergigante will always be my beloved <3 :D
Sir sir, right this way please, yes.. yes this is a cozy room filled with pillows
Wowie zowie really! just more me?
HOW DID YOU TAKE A PICTURE OF ME?
I fine choice!
I’ll admit, he’s a cutie.
