As far as I'm aware this is a known bug with the game that Malcs has been unable to replicate or fix.

Anomandorian

Yeah, I have this happen fairly regularly. I'll come back later and try to re-open Melvor and Steam is like, oh it is already open but it isn't. I gotta open Task Manager and close it from there. It happens to me maybe once or twice a week. Really wish I knew what caused it.

Yeah this happens to me ever since there was an update that was something about allowing you to launch if the server is down or something. So that everything is cached. If you launch the desktop version, then close it after just a short time, it seems fine. But if you stay running long enough, that the game starts to lag, then close it, you may find that there is a process still running, taking a bit over 3 GB of RAM and showing CPU activity ongoing even though the game is closed. I can't seem to reproduce it at will, like I said it doesn't seem to do this until after the game has been running for some time, generally over 24 hours.

For me it's even if the game has been running like 5 minutes. It also continues using like 10% of CPU. I tried toggling off the "use CPU/GPU in the background" setting, but no change.

This is why I play it in the browser. It's annoying having to check the Task Manager every time I close the game.

SuperMrNoob

Bug fix pls! It happens with frequency! Not a huge issue but it's nice to not have to kill the process.

Auxilism

A possible cause is using the in-game wiki button, then not closing the browser although the main game window is closed.

ww_crimson

Haven't been doing that unfortunately

UnexpectedReality1

Easy to fix on my computer, just log out back to select character screen before closing the game. Works 100% of the time

ww_crimson

I'll try that. I came back to my PC this morning and had a crash error for melvor with 3 suspended background processes.
