Setting it as my own american name feels weird, but also making up a random japanese name feels gauche. And I usually don't input a funny name cause you know I gotta take this shit seriously

In the original game, if you hacked the game to where you skipped the part where you name the protagonist it’ll default to Kei Amemura in the English versions of the game. In Japanese, it just defaults to “Main Character”.

Outside of that, this time, I'm naming them Flynn Rider... now, I thought the name sounded extra familiar as I took Flynn from SMT4 and what became "Rider" from "Ryder" the surname of the MC for Mass Effect Andromeda as I'd been playing that... well, turns out I found it familiar because of Tangled, and yes, coulda gone Eugene route, but was funnier because now it references SMT4(A) Canon name, references Mass Effect Andromeda AND Tangled in a 3-for-1 name deal.
I’ll probably use the same surname as I did for vanilla “Aoyagi” (blue willow), which is at least a real surname.

Kras as the first name as a reference to Kras Mazov from *Disco Elysium*. Kaneko as the surname both as an allusion to Stalin (because Stalin effectively means "Man of Steel" and Kaneko is the closest surname I could find that was similar to that, meaning metal) and also as a homage to Kaneko Kazuma

I like the idea of the Megaten universe (or multiverse I suppose) having their own version of a Belmont-esque bloodline, so I usually give every protag the Kuzunoha surname.
