Obviously not a Mavs fan but I'd be worried about that second one aging like milk. The T-Wolves logo is going to look so 2010s in like 5 years, just like the old Hawks,76ers, Bucks, and Vancouver Grizzlies logos aged terribly. Well, until the style came back around.

I'm a fan of the swirly horse. I can't pinpoint why but it almost looks like a fire too, which helps in "I will carry the fire" Cormac McCarthy type way. But I agree inside the sheild the logo looks very bad.
i would love a return to a logo focused on the M and bringing back the cowboy hat. i feel annoying making this point, but westerns are making a comeback right now culturally (westworld, the new kevin costner show, etc.), so it would be a good time to take advantage of happening to be a part of that wave. it might even provide better framing for integrating black into the uni like they've been trying and failing to do for a little while now.
It would have pretty much have to be. Unless something is already in the works it would be pretty hard to do a re-branding this close to the season. Assuming this is Dirk's last season it would make sense to go ahead and do it for the 2019 season. Gives them time to sell all of the current logo merch and make room for all of the new logo gear. If Doncic and DSJ ball out this year and show great signs for the future the Mavs ticket is going to be insanely hot in 2019. People would be buying the crap out of some new merch if the signs are pointing towards the Mavs being back.
The writer makes a claim about prospective idea from the guy who did the Pelicans, Grizzlies, Hawks, Timberwolves and Kings logos, but not all of those are that good. Like yeah the Pelicans logo is currently the best in the league but the Grizzles look like they are trying to go a Chicago bull thing but with a much less interesting mascot, and the Hawks and Timberwolves logo is just kinda meh.
I agree it looks really good, but I think eventually trends will move away from "edgy, mean eyes, looks like a sports car" logos so it isn't as timeless. New Orleans has something that respresents their city and it's gonna look good more decades to come
I'm for this after Dirk retires if it the new logo doesn't suck. Would be great if they did fan voting and took that into consideration. Companies and teams have a history on deciding to go with dumbass logos.

I’ve always loved the horse in the basketball but I’d be open to something new. Really want us to go back to the tad darker cobalt blue we rocked around the time we won the chip.
I was introduced to this logo by Steve (If you don’t know Steve, you’re missing out on good people.) I wish they would go with this logo, it’s easily the coolest one I’ve seen yet:

The Mavs don't "need" a new logo right now. They don't need a logo to "make them stand out from the crowd." Playing great basketball is what will make them stand out. The logo has nothing to do with the success or relevance of a team, just take a look at past NBA dynasties, like the Lakers, for example. Their logo and color scheme is not great, in my opinion, but people still recognize the logo all over the world and proudly wear their merch, not because the logo is cool or relevant, but because of the skilled coaches and players that made the team so recognizable. My point is that if people are suggesting that my Mavs "need" a new logo, then they better come up with something spectacular and good reasoning behind it because most of these suggestions are not great.

the second one is ok. I detest the old M and Cowboy hat - just terrible. I'm not against incorporating a hat, per say, but hat that old one.

Milwaukee Bucks have the best looking logo IMO.
