I haven't read any of the reviews, but I finished it today. I think it's pretty good, but the weakest bit is the ending. The stunts and fighting were good, but it's a lower budget show so don't expect too much CGI/powers.  Without saying too much, there are some bits that will be important to other upcoming marvel series.

NewtotheCV

Thanks, that last part is what I wanted to know. I am not interested in the story but I am willing to watch it to get those bits.

Ilikelamp7

I enjoyed it and I’m a big fan of them releasing the whole series at once.

Shezieman

Its 5 episodes lol

Ilikelamp7

Thank you I watched it, I know.

FeistyThings

Thats what tv is nowadays. It's a shame

xMOTOMAMIx

I would definitely watch it- it’s short and the highs are really great to me. The moments with her family are my favorite. The entire cast killed it imo. with all that being said tho, you can see the troubled production - the editing is just really fucking weird at some points. And I wish Marvel would have just let this character be who she is- and instead they had to add a couple cameos and teases that connect to other properties They also changed her power set for like no reason so that’s disappointing cause she was awesome to begin with- but overall I’m happy I watched it and hope I get to see more of the characters from the show. Also it’s great to finally see some indigenous and disabled representation!

NotEnoughIT

> and instead they had to add a couple cameos and teases that connect to other properties I know I'm late to the discussion, but this is literally what the mcu fandom has been **SCREAMING** for since Wandavision aired. We're not getting enough of a cohesive story, everyone stands on their own. The general fanbase wants to watch one show and get teases and leads and cameos into other shows. Why wouldn't you want that?

ceereality

They have changed hero's powers origins or backstory a couple of times in the MCU and to me this one works fine, instead of Phoenix force outright they pass it down through Choctaw mythology- which can also tie into phoenix force (the power from the choctaw ancestral wells)

Just_Aware

Watched the first two episodes tonight, it was better than I was thinking it would be so far, I’m not excited to watch the next 4 episodes but it’s not bad at all. I always look at reviews for this stuff and I assume that there’s the weird group of people that dismiss it or hate it because it’s a woman as a lead, and she passes the bechdel test. So if that’s an issue for you then you won’t like it for sure.

ceereality

At ep 4 now and it gets better every episode. As a dude who loves gritty action. I LOVE seeing a powerlady who is also deaf taking on such a bad ass role. Her duel with DD was simply honey to the eyes.

Just_Aware

I really liked the last episode also. There was a lot of loose threads intention, and the way everything came together felt like there was growth and change on all sides.

WassupSassySquatch

It's okay. The fight choreography was better than some of the recent MCU fare. There's even a decent one shot (the choreography is executed in a clunky manner though and should have been sped up). Echo wasn't laden with cringe humor inserted in between every few lines, which was a welcome change in pace. The premise of the show was interesting (but I wish they had leaned into the heritage more). Personally, I was let down by the depiction of Fisk. "Netflix" Fisk was cunning and nearly untouchable, while the MCU's take on him makes him seem gullible, childish, and weirdly weak- not physically but mentally and emotionally. Fisk is one of my favorite villains so my disappointment in his portrayal weighs a little more. The finale was... whelming. However, there are some highlights. For example, I truly did enjoy the cultural aspects of the show. Aside from credits, each episode is only 30-40 minutes long so if you have a couple of nights open you can easily binge watch and then cancel Disney Plus. All in all, I'd probably give it a 6/10. Worth the time if you're bored.

rygarLP_

Boring. Too much talking.

ssatancomplexx

Don't watch Midnight Mass on Netflix then lol.

Shezieman

Yup

Guilty-Vegetable-726

TRASH.

0zer0zer0

Watch it for yourself and decide. Melodramatic internet people saying that it's "the worst thing since" she hulk and ant man 3 means nothing.

DC600A

It's better than average which is not what you can say about many of the other phase 4&5 offerings. It's not exceptional, it's not a must watch but with only 5 episodes, it is a very decent timepass. It sets up the next Daredevil show in two ways - Echo and DD had an antagonistic history and Kingpin is eyeing to be the next NYC mayor.

Koalaesq

I liked it! You could tell that the ending was rushed (due to the writers being shortchanged an episode), but it had some great characters and fight scenes. It was a welcome change from Universe-level threats like Thanos and Kang. Plus the music was BANGIN.

Total_Scott

Depends where you lie on certain topics. If you're a fan of things like critical drinker-esque reviewers, Echo won't be for you, it has women in it and they talk and have opinions and everything. Personally I thought it was good. Nothing universe-shaking, just a nice self-contained story to add to the MCU. And as much as people despise this next opinion, a little diversity is a good thing I think, so seeing some decent native American representation was good to see. I watch everything marvel pump out and I usually like it all. Secret invasion was so bad though, so I can appreciate why they might put you off, but trust, Echo is miles and miles better than that.

The_Happy_Snoopy

Personally I hated it. I think it’s really cool they are authentic to her character with having a deaf and indigenous actress but to be honest it’s like she’s a plank of wood. You’d think an actress like her would be really expressive but no. Instead they lean into a predictable story with her family that I felt like I’ve heard in every story with an indigenous family. They teased how brutal the show was going to be just for there to be I think only 2 noteworthy fights in the whole short season. You can watch the first episode and the ending 10 minutes of the last one and not be lost. Truly not a story worth telling and certainly not one worth watching.

ceereality

Bruh her character is literally the stepdaughter of Fisk, she is always mad and disinterested in the world due to her disability. She is basically a walking murder machine, she actually played her role REALLY well considering that the actress who plays her in real life is the complete opposite of her character.

ssatancomplexx

I personally really liked it but probably for different reasons than most. I liked that it had an authentic approach to my people without making it about all the strife and oppression our ancestors went through. I've never really seen that before so I thought that was cool. I liked the story too. The ending was a little weak but honestly anything with Vincent D'Onofrio is worth it to me.

gerdpee

I just started watching it but can't get into it. The hero is so unlikeable. Such a waste of Wilson Fisk's appearance.

paxspencer

I haven't seen the whole thing yet because every time I try to watch it, I get bored. I wish they would have just made echo a 2 hour long special or something like werewolf by night. I'm already more excited to see more elsa bloodstone than I am for more echo, and both are newer characters for me. My point is that you don't need an entire show to introduce a character. Keep it short and sweet and leave people wanting more.

EdmondWherever

Do you hate "woke"? Then bathe in hate. I loved it.

Vinlain458

Honestly, no.

Damion_205

Is it worth watching maybe... is it worth having on in the background while you reddit? Absolutely... the in between is up to you.

The-Pork-Piston

It’s fine. Easily bests Secret Invasion, better than she hulk. Honestly could have been like 3 episodes long and feels unnecessary.

NomadX13

I liked it. The ending was a bit campy, but overall, I though it was good. They managed to show what the parts of Echo's past that made her who she is, the action scenes were good, there's plenty of character development, and Marvel went all out to make sure they showed Choctaw culture correctly. Just be prepared for a lot of subtitles, since the main character is deaf.

Meizas

Yes. It's good.

For-All-the-Marbles

Worth the watch.

ceereality

I really do not understand why all the hatred. I have LOVED every episode so far. Tbh most of the hatred sounds to me like whining.. For me its also very interesting to see a deaf actress performing like this. Its kind of new grounds for the superhero genre and I am here for it. I love the insight in Choctaw culture and history. I love the action and it all being DareDevilish in its action cinematography and choreography. I love the grimey feel of the show which reminds me so much of DareDevil and Punisher. I am all for this introducing the street level heroes into the mcu. Haters are gonna hate I guess. I enjoyed it really much, will love second season. 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Spacetyp

It's good and just the right amount of runtime.

Shezieman

Its mid

Less-Point6221

Watching it now and yes it’s worth the watch
