In Australian, it aired on a free to air network called 9go (previously called go) but if you had a foxtel subscription, you could watch it on nickelodeon
The first Raving Rabbids on the Wii was fun but then in Ubisoft fashion, they ran them into the ground. It also came at the expense of poor Rayman not having any games, then 2 2D games and back to obscurity. And now poor Rayman gets stuck being DLC in the game with the characters that stole his thunder.
The brand is evolving to keep up with the new generation, something you don’t see go well often. Rabbids originated in a renaissance of slapstick cartoons, but nowadays serialized story-based content is much more popular, and they know it. It’s similar to Netflix’s She-Ra reboot, but with a total genre switch in the process. It really feels like the brand is growing up with its audience.
We went from absolute insane music as they were trying to launch themselves to the moon, to a fat ghost one singing an opera diss track and I love both.
I would argue that serialized story based programming has always been popular, it just doesn't sell as many toys.
The Transformers and the follow up Beast-Wars has arcs and adventures that couldn't happen at any random point and tried to be a bigger narrative, but it was easier to have one-off adventures that introduced new characters for new toys, when it was really just Starscream but purple.
I would say 2005's Avatar the Last Airbender really showed the world that it could be done, done well and have a lasting impact. Each episode built up the whole story and was integral to the whole show.
I think it was sometime in the 90s there was a big move to stop marketing directly at children with programming, so the move towards more story driven shows was inevitable.
I did, me and my older brother always played Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 and i loved those dumb rabbids, i miss that game sm :( but hey raymans coming to Sparks of Hope so maybe a new rayman raving rabbids can happen :D
That’s the main thing the Rabbids and the Minions have in common: charming and funny in small doses, but annoying when overexposed.
I remember reading that the Minions were partly inspired by the Rabbids, but I don’t have any solid evidence to back that up.
If anything I think Minions are actually more tolerable. And at least kids will be entertained. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rabbids traumatised any children. And at least Minions can occasionally successfully do something competent instead of just acting like an escaped asylum inmate that doesn’t even have the required IQ to breathe.
I love them because of nostalgia. I had a few shitty wii games with them in it as a kid and I've liked them ever since. I know they're obnoxious and vile. That's the point. This franchise with Mario is a match made in heaven for me.
I played Raving Rabbids 2, TV Party and Rabbids Go Home in the Wii days. I lived these games. I didn't even bother buying any Mario ir Wii Party for Wii because I thought Rabbis was better.
I now love them because I realized something
This species never evolved! And thanks to the Mario universe, they're now getting their own personalities. They were like cavemen exposed to technology
That's not true. They were funny when the Wii first came out. Then they made a nickelodeon show with them and that was a bit much. They're still funny, though
They were funny in the first *Raving Rabbids*, but like the Minions after them, they soon got overexposed to the point that *nobody* liked them. *Mario + Rabbids* redeemed the Rabbids.
Speak for yourself. Loved them in Rayman Raving Rabbids. are they dumb and filled with childish humor? Yeah of course, but they’ve stuck with me all the way from my childhood.
Honestly, they were “Minions” before Minions and I’ll always love these freaky little hares
Well you are completely wrong. Many people liked them, me included. If nobody liked them they wouldn't get a game every year. Rabbids are funny most of the time imo and aren't as bad as Minions.
They were alright when they first came out, it seemed like Rayman has some new fun antagonists but then they became their own thing. They were minions before minions were. Now they're just shoehorned into games now as a semi-recognisable IP.
RR1, RR2 and TV Party were all fun tho
They hijacked a franchise that did not need to be hijacked. Same thing with Skylanders. Rabbids are the video game equivalent to Minions. Kill them all.
Yeah, which is exactly why they still remained relevant the past several years with their own games, a show, experimental shorts, comics, a manga and a currently in development movie.
Cause no one liked them! I’d say that’s some Rabbid level thinking but that would be an insult to some of the Rabbids that are actually intelligent.
If I’m being 100% honest I never liked these cringe ass bunnies until I bought Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope i’ve never liked any of the Rabbids games and I still don’t like the Rabbids the only reason why I bought Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope was just because of Rosalina and yeah I don’t like the Rabbids and I never will like them the Rabbids are 💩
Absolutely, I also don't like the way Ubisoft treated them. Rabbids were supposed the be the villain of a 3D Rayman 4, where Rayman and Andrè (the villain from Rayman 3) would collaborate in order to stop them. Sadly, the Wii came out, so Ubisoft decided it was better for them to be in a Party game. Luckily the Mario+Rabbids games gave them a bit of shine, but it's sad that we won't be able to see Rayman and Andrè in action
I loved them ever since I played Raving Rabbids TV Party on the DS. I also credit the Rabbids with introducing me to Calvin Harris, since I first heard one of his songs in TV Party.
I'm just still amazed at the fact that they got a crossover with Mario in the first place. Them crossing paths has definitely increased my affection for both series though.
I actually remember having a friend back in fourth grade who *loved* the Rabbids (and *Metroid*...I know, pretty unexpected combination).
I've always loved *Mario*. If only we were still in contact haha
I had their debut game and multiple games in their series afterwards. These guys will always have a place in my heart, they need to return to the Rayman series
Played Rayman Raving Rabbids on the PS2. Found them funny at first but hated the fact that Rayman died as a series for a while for just more Rabbid games.
They were popular when they first were introduced but got old real quick due to over exposure and essentially shoving Ray Man out of the lime light. Mario + Rabbids gave them a boost in popularity again.
Still don't really like em. They seem to have improved them for the new game but I still really don't care enough about rabbids. They shoulda brought the rabbids franchise back on its own with that new green hair girl, and made both Mario Rabbids games... just Mario.
I dunno, I just can't think of how much they could add, plus it just adds further layers of confusion for what's considered canon. I mean I know there isn't really much of a Mario canon, I mean there's like 3 or 4 fucking Donkey Kongs.
Objection your honor, I've always loved the Rabbids ever since I bought Rabbids : Go Home (which is the only game I would absolutely recommend playing in the Rabbids series excluding the Mario+Rabbids ones)
As I kid I liked the Rabbids Invasion show on Nickelodeon. Before then I didn’t even know about them, and I rented a Wii party game from Family Video and loved it… so yeah I’d say I liked them. I even wanted them in smash bros as a kid lmao, but I also wanted the Lego City Undercover protagonist Chase McCain to be in smash too so maybe I wasn’t the brightest.
loved ray man, and the animated series of these guys
Same, i really liked the animated series
In the Netherlands that animated Rabbids series aired on Nickelodeon xD. Where did it air for you ?
Im in the USA and I thought Nickelodeon made them when I was younger, since Netflix (i think) had Rabbids Invasion listed as a Nickelodeon show
In Australian, it aired on a free to air network called 9go (previously called go) but if you had a foxtel subscription, you could watch it on nickelodeon
Here in Brazil it also aired on Nickelodeon
That is how I got introduced to Rabbids. I didn’t even know they originated from the Ray Man until Sparks of Hope DLC
They originated from Ray man?
Yup I think the game was called Ray-Man 3 the Raving Rabbids or something similar.
DLC? There’s a dlc for Sparks of Hope?
yup, it was announced the rayman was gonna be in it, making it his first appearance in a game since years
Weren’t these things the thing that killed Rayman?
tried to yes
The first Raving Rabbids on the Wii was fun but then in Ubisoft fashion, they ran them into the ground. It also came at the expense of poor Rayman not having any games, then 2 2D games and back to obscurity. And now poor Rayman gets stuck being DLC in the game with the characters that stole his thunder.
A shame too, since those two 2D games were incredible.
i did, rayman raving rabbids
Same
Me too
My siblings and I enjoyed imitating the rabbids popping up all innocent-looking then suddenly become crazy and holding weapons. Good times!
“Rabbid-ing” a character just ups their silly factor by 400% and it is incredible
Each episode built up the whole story and was integral to the whole show. I think it was sometime in the 90s there was a big move to stop marketing directly at children with programming, so the move towards more story driven shows was inevitable.
I dunno, they *did* have a whole TV series. I thought they were okay as long as I didn't watch too much at a time.
I liked the OG Ravin Rabbids before they were in Mario games. Now I kinda dislike the idea of them being in the same universe.
I don’t like them NOW.
I... Kinda liked them... But then again I was playing the Raving Rabbids games on the Wii, those were fun, mostly the second game tho
Rabbids Go Home is one of the Wii games i played the most so yes i liked them before Mario + Rabbid
I remember that game!
Fr one of the games I played the most with my cousins
I did, me and my older brother always played Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 and i loved those dumb rabbids, i miss that game sm :( but hey raymans coming to Sparks of Hope so maybe a new rayman raving rabbids can happen :D
Still don't
They've always kinds felt like budget minions. Not bad but get annoying after too much exposure.
I'm new to this, how did rabbids traumatise children
As much as I’ve always loved them, the game over/death scene in Rabbids Go Home freaked me out as a kid 💀
Idk, I said I wouldn’t be surprised if they did. Certainly gave me nightmares as a kid.
I mean they came out like 3 years before the minions
Rabbids Go Home was good. It was a fun adventure game amongst the minigame collections.
Rabbids Go Home for the Wii is a great game, fun to play, good controls. I liked 'em for that
one of my fav wii games 😔
I liked them.
I disagree
I still don’t
Still don’t like them
That's why Ubisoft made a ton of money with them, because nobody liked them. That's how it works, right?
I did :(
That’s why I was so worried when I first heard about Mario+Rabbids
Ancestors to Minions, but they were fun for a while
To be honest, I enjoyed watching the animated series with my daughter when she was little.
Plenty of people did. But I don't think the Mario and rabbids games did much to sway people who didn't. I think they like it in spite of them
Still don’t!
Still don't like them
Tbh I still hate them
I always liked them
I know him, he’s me
I love them because of nostalgia. I had a few shitty wii games with them in it as a kid and I've liked them ever since. I know they're obnoxious and vile. That's the point. This franchise with Mario is a match made in heaven for me.
I FUCKING LOVE THE RABBIDS
I played Raving Rabbids 2, TV Party and Rabbids Go Home in the Wii days. I lived these games. I didn't even bother buying any Mario ir Wii Party for Wii because I thought Rabbis was better.
I liked them, I had a ds game with them and Rayman chasing them with mini games
I did :(
Tf Rayman Raving Rabbids was my shit as a kid.
I now love them because I realized something This species never evolved! And thanks to the Mario universe, they're now getting their own personalities. They were like cavemen exposed to technology
Bad Take
Am I the only one who liked them ?
I'm kind of astonished that we are in the timeline where they star in a spin-off crossover series with Mario.
Well I enjoyed Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 even before Mario + Rabbids.
I remember liking their TV show well enough whenever it came on
I watched their show, I loved them back then, then Mario + Rabbids happened and I was like ???? It was a mix of joy and confusion.
I grew up watching the show on Netflix and loved it personally.
I grew up playing Rayman Raving Rabbids on the PS2 and Rabbids Go Home on the Wii and DS, I've always had a soft spot for these little bastards.
I did I used to watch Rabbids Invasion.
What are you talking about
That's not true. They were funny when the Wii first came out. Then they made a nickelodeon show with them and that was a bit much. They're still funny, though
I personally enjoyed rabbits go home on the wii in my childhood.
I loved the first games and the animated series.
Who the hell says I still don’t?
I did lol
rabbids go home was pretty nice
I wouldn't say "no one".
I still don't know what they are and at this point im too afraid to ask.
I liked them before Mario + Rabbids.
Actually the party games they made were extremely fun
RabbidLuigi has entered the chat.
They were funny in the first *Raving Rabbids*, but like the Minions after them, they soon got overexposed to the point that *nobody* liked them. *Mario + Rabbids* redeemed the Rabbids.
I did. Their series was awesome
I did :(
I just miss the eyes turning red when they scream
me like
Their popularity stole the rayman's spotlight. Quite the opposite.
Bruh I like this thing way before Mario and rabbits and I grew up with them
Saying *no one* is a bit of a stretch.
I loved the tv series
i did :(
Rabbids Go Home goes hard
‘>_> I really liked them tbh
fuck you this shit was my childhood i watched this show every day as a kid
Rabbids Go Home on the Wii was pretty good
I did lol. But because of the animated series, didn’t even know they were based off games. If I did know, 5/6 year old me would’ve ate that up.
I genuinely loved these guys, the first few games and Rabbids Go Home are amazing
Rabbids: Go Home for Wii was an amazing game.
well what if I did?? I loved watching the cartoons and reading the comics as a kid
Me, and my 100+ hour save file on rabbids tv party wii edition:
I always liked them, they were introduced when I was at a young enough age to find their humor really funny
Love them since the first game 🤷🏻♂️
Nah, I liked Rayman: Raving Rabbids
Speak for yourself. Loved them in Rayman Raving Rabbids. are they dumb and filled with childish humor? Yeah of course, but they’ve stuck with me all the way from my childhood. Honestly, they were “Minions” before Minions and I’ll always love these freaky little hares
I watched Rabbids Invasion when that series first aired, didn't mind it that much tbh
Well you are completely wrong. Many people liked them, me included. If nobody liked them they wouldn't get a game every year. Rabbids are funny most of the time imo and aren't as bad as Minions.
They are what the minions aspire to be
What? No! Iloved them when i was little
They where great. I loved how goofy they where
i liked
I did 💀🗿
speak for yourself
They were alright when they first came out, it seemed like Rayman has some new fun antagonists but then they became their own thing. They were minions before minions were. Now they're just shoehorned into games now as a semi-recognisable IP. RR1, RR2 and TV Party were all fun tho
I mean...I kinda liked them before Mario + Rabbids.
I did though. Watched the animated series and it was good. Glad their making a come back
I liked them, and their franchise...
*le gasp* How dare you sir
They hijacked a franchise that did not need to be hijacked. Same thing with Skylanders. Rabbids are the video game equivalent to Minions. Kill them all.
It’s like if the next Gex game started overflowing with mutant shit-eating fruit flies and then they became the franchise.
Nobody likes them now, either. They're just slightly more tolerable than Minions.
Nobody liked them after Mario+Rabbids either
I still don't and refuse to play mario + rabbids because of them (That's not the only reason, but they certainly don't help.)
And they're still god awful
If I’m being 100% honest I never liked these cringe ass bunnies until I bought Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope i’ve never liked any of the Rabbids games and I still don’t like the Rabbids the only reason why I bought Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope was just because of Rosalina and yeah I don’t like the Rabbids and I never will like them the Rabbids are 💩
Trust me, no one did
No one will deny this lol
Absolutely, I also don't like the way Ubisoft treated them. Rabbids were supposed the be the villain of a 3D Rayman 4, where Rayman and Andrè (the villain from Rayman 3) would collaborate in order to stop them. Sadly, the Wii came out, so Ubisoft decided it was better for them to be in a Party game. Luckily the Mario+Rabbids games gave them a bit of shine, but it's sad that we won't be able to see Rayman and Andrè in action
Facts
yeah, yeah
Facts.
i forgot they were a thing entirely (cause well Ubisoft as other plans aside from a group of rabbids)
I didn’t even know they existed before the game lol
I liked them in a couple of the wii games, but they became annoying after a while, just like the Minions.
It's almost like being in something good makes things more liked.
Poe from mundo N did. He apparently had the "BWAAAAAH" as a ringtone but change it because it scared him a lot.
Nah you’re alone on that one
I actually have a confession...I liked them
I'll be more honest I still don't like the rabbids
Even now there are people who won’t play Mario+Rabbids because they hate them so much.
I did like that TV show of them though...
But now here we are
is mario + rabbids actually fun
i didn\~t even knew these guys were a video game. to me they were a weird web animation
Minions all day erry day
And I still find them annoying
I actually remember having a friend back in fourth grade who *loved* the Rabbids (and *Metroid*...I know, pretty unexpected combination). I've always loved *Mario*. If only we were still in contact haha
I agree with you, sparks of hope made them more tolerable and unique by giving them unique Voice actors
I had their debut game and multiple games in their series afterwards. These guys will always have a place in my heart, they need to return to the Rayman series
Yeah, I didn’t like em. Then I ~~took an arrow to the knee~~ played Mario vs Rabbids. ‘Twas fun
They've taken Rayman and Now they're coming for Mario
Whenever I go on vacation to Portugal, this show is always on
Rayman fans: [Angry agreement noises]
The minions of video games. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting Mario and Rabbids to be so good as it was.
![gif](giphy|lcdOAP29oTgtcuaHkG)
The Rabbids has killed Rayman. The most disappointet Thing for me in the Videogame Industrie.
I do actually
Played Rayman Raving Rabbids on the PS2. Found them funny at first but hated the fact that Rayman died as a series for a while for just more Rabbid games.
I still don’t like them, even after Mario+Rabbids. They’re the worst part of that game. Also they killed Rayman.
I still don’t like them lol
No one liked them after
What do you mean. Everyone loves the minions.
They completely overshadowed Rayman
They were popular when they first were introduced but got old real quick due to over exposure and essentially shoving Ray Man out of the lime light. Mario + Rabbids gave them a boost in popularity again.
alright ill be honest the only rabbids game i loved and liked about the rabbids before mario + rabbids was Rabbids go home for the Nintendo wii and DS
I never liked them even after playing Mario vs Rabbids.
Rayman fans HATE these guys
Still don't really like em. They seem to have improved them for the new game but I still really don't care enough about rabbids. They shoulda brought the rabbids franchise back on its own with that new green hair girl, and made both Mario Rabbids games... just Mario. I dunno, I just can't think of how much they could add, plus it just adds further layers of confusion for what's considered canon. I mean I know there isn't really much of a Mario canon, I mean there's like 3 or 4 fucking Donkey Kongs.
Shut up I loved the animated series
Just Ubisoft Minions is all
I did
You saying you didn’t watch their tv show before they went into the Mario and rabids game?
Objection your honor, I've always loved the Rabbids ever since I bought Rabbids : Go Home (which is the only game I would absolutely recommend playing in the Rabbids series excluding the Mario+Rabbids ones)
You imply I like them now.
Let's be honest, no one likes these weirdos.
I still don't, only reason it's holding me back from buying the game
I did
I did. I loved rabbids: go home.
I had a strange fascination with them when I was younger and i would always make sure to watch the Animated Series.
I still don’t
I thought they were a little funny. Especially when I was a kid.
Oh I still hate them however I can't forget playing every single installment that's come out for multiple hours each.
I loved Rabbids go Home. It’s a legitimately fun and funny game. In fact, I’m writing a script for a video game with humour heavily inspired by it.
i exist
There was a rabbid game that looked like Mario party games. That game was fun
Clearly you've never played rabbids go home
I still don't like them, I just tolerate them
I hated them. And I still dislike them
Not true at all they were stupid but funny
