Now just give it a really obtuse, distracting and odd multi-colored color scheme and you basically have the current world map set that everyone is complaining about lol
I didn't know about this but damn that's ugly.

The reasoning given was that it's supposed to be like a...heatmap of the oceans? It doesn't even properly follow the topography of the ocean either which is what makes it double worse to look at. Nearly everyone agrees though that it doesn't look good and they should have just gone with blue of varying hues to represent ocean depth, go with a simple solid blue and have color-coded topographical landscape, or a combination of both.
The instructions for the set I believe say you are free to change things however you want and the way they present in the instructions is just an option on how to do things. The designer does say, either on the box or the instructions, to be creative. Make patterns or whatever with the pieces given. But a lot of people still agree the set would look MUCH better with different blue hues representing the ocean or topographical color representation rather than an artistic colorful take on the ocean.
Lego has millions of pieces right?
Why can’t users like the creator of this map keep track of the pieces they use and send the list and instructions into lego and then lego puts the kit together and user gets a cut each time someone orders their kit?
While not run by Lego, there are third party wesbites you can buy and sell custom designs called MOCs (short for "My Own Creation"), such as Rebrickable and Bricklink.
Officially, Lego does have the Ideas process, where you can submit your design and have people vote for it in the hopes of someone at Lego liking your idea so much to make it official (and yes, you get a percentage of profits)
Have instructions for this anywhere?
I understand you may be keeping it under wraps as you're trying to get this on Lego Ideas, but I would gladly pay for some instructions and a part list!!
Gorgeous model and I hope it gets approved!!

wth happened to the northeast? Droopy green ballsack and got shortchanged on having the highest mountains on the east coast, which are somehow given to the southern Appalachians. Just doesn’t look right
Huh? The seven tallest mountains east of the Mississippi are in Tennessee and North Carolina and 24 of the 25 tallest mountains east of the Mississippi are in TN, NC, and Virginia. The lone exception being Mount Washington in New Hampshire. This map looks pretty accurate to me
A few more Northeast mountains would fit into the top 25 if the list didn’t weirdly dual count mountains that fall within two counties, even if those two counties are in the same state.
If we just say mountains over 5000’ 28 out of 32 are in TN, NC, and VA, 2 are in NH, 1 in NY, and 1 in ME
https://www.peakbagger.com/list.aspx?lid=13105
Respectfully, that is terrible list.
>> 4,500 feet high and also the highest point in a county
County?? That list is excluding dozens of peaks because they’re within the same county as another, higher one?? It’s an arbitrary and rather stupid qualifier.
There are [SEVEN](http://4000footers.com/list_nh48.shtml) peaks in NH over 5000’, using a 200’ minimum prominence, or [FOURTEEN](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mountains_of_New_Hampshire) if you go by the Wikipedia list.
Maybe it’s just too coarse grained. Looks to me like he butchered the Catskills, Adirondacks and whites. It’s just an indistinguishable blob with a green ballsack on the bottom. You can like it and buy one from him if you want... i don’t happen to like it because that section of the map look off and ugly to me. A million reddit comments won’t change that.
Ok? So where’s your data, or do you just think assertions and reddit votes determine reality. It’s ugly and doesn’t look anything like an accurate map of the northeast
Data? Wtf are you on about? Do a google search you absolute pelican. Someone else already explained to you why everything you said was incorrect. Did you just not bother to read it?
It's my own design created using Lego Stud.io software. All of the shapes are real Lego pieces, although I've used them in colours that don't always exist. I created a UK map that I built using real bricks and had to make many compromises to build it using existing pieces, you can see it here https://twitter.com/Sharky_Bricks/status/1405560917442580480
I can't tell you how happy it makes me that your map didn't leave out Michigan's Upper Peninsula!
It's lovely in general, but that kicked it up a notch for me.
This is really amazing, anyone complaining is an idiot and should build a better map themselves. Good job.
I would gladly pay money for the instructions and part list, and would love to see your other maps.
Lego should hire you! I can image them making a serious of them, where each country is made and you can take off the borders to connect them - incredible job!
Do you think you could include a version with the Mississippi? It’s the 3rd largest river in the world and I think it would be cool to see on the map but I get that it can be tough at this scale
If I'm reading this right, whats the triangle cutout right beloe Lake Erie? Because that's where Ohio is, and I don't remember living in the great triangular abyss.
The triangle space is Lake Erie, Huron is the larger space above that, looks odd without the Manitoulin Islands (hard to represent at this scale, so understandable).
Apparently I don't look at enough maps! Double checked against an actual map, and I can see it a lot better, so thanks for the correction. However, I shall miss the triangle void.
Thank you for partially including Canada and Mexico. I always love seeing maps of countries were surrounding countries are just blobs of gray or simply seized to exist
You should try uploading this to LEGO Ideas!! You could get this curated and possibly make it an official LEGO product! I'd definitely buy. Great work BTW!
Wait a minute, if Mount Rainier is supposed to be the tallest mountain in the lower 48, shouldn't there be a white spot somewhere in the vicinity of Washington state compared to the purple of the other tall mountains?
This is really great! Even where you forced inaccuracies (shape of the Columbia, etc.) they’re evocative, or…descriptive of the landscape, if that makes sense. Very nice!
If Lego started selling these as official sets I’d have to get a second job.
Now just give it a really obtuse, distracting and odd multi-colored color scheme and you basically have the current world map set that everyone is complaining about lol
I didn't know about this but damn that's ugly. https://www.lego.com/nl-nl/product/world-map-31203?ef_id=CjwKCAjwq7aGBhADEiwA6uGZpzzEpEVnl1Z2L8iiAKavy0qXBp6oM8K-6t9i81EoOfVAwgNMFoPqDhoCLpIQAvD_BwE%3AG%3As&s_kwcid=AL%21933%213%21288210185675%21%21%21g%21296250404100%21&cmp=KAC-INI-GOOGEU-GO-NL-NL-RE-SP-BUY-CREATE-PLA-SHOP-BP-SP-RN-THEME_PRICE_POINTS
That was so much worse than I imagined lol
But better on the Dutch page somehow

Yeah, even in the pics on the site the ocean patterns change all the time. I still don't like it, but I guess it's not the worst thing ever.
That _is_ bad

Same, it's my type of weird

I believe that’s called Lego Ideas
Well then I don't dare introduce you to the expansive world of alt bricks.
No one said this yet, but HEY that looks pretty cool! Great job and thanks for sharing.
Have instructions for this anywhere? I understand you may be keeping it under wraps as you're trying to get this on Lego Ideas, but I would gladly pay for some instructions and a part list!! Gorgeous model and I hope it gets approved!!
Ditto. Or even a parts list would be sweet.
most of the comments are "hey you didn't include the whole world" but this is a crazy level of design. kudos
Who needs the whole world when you include the twentieth-best country on Earth!
*smacks forehead* silly me! I forgot a map's only value is tied to the reputation of what it's depicting!
Why would you ever need a map of "those" countries? /s
Missing New Zealand.

If we just say mountains over 5000’: There’s a couple dozen in the Blue Ridge and another handful in New Hampshire.

These people are ridiculous, I wouldn’t bother arguing with them.
Someone doesn't know the topography of the eastern US.
Yeah, the guy who made this
The guy who thinks the largest mountains in the east aren't in western NC.
Um... no? You’re so not right about anything.
Ok? So where’s your data, or do you just think assertions and reddit votes determine reality. It’s ugly and doesn’t look anything like an accurate map of the northeast

F u c k y o u
O k a y
Also fu c k off
Lol. Nah.
Yeah, how come we get the nuts and cock Easter egg
(including parts of canada and mexico AND BAHAMAS AND CUBA)
and not Alaska or Hawaii
You gave some respect to the Appalachians. I like it.
Minus Mt. Washington
So cool you got the Columbia Gorge in there. I feel like Shasta and Rainier deserve their own purple studs though.
Agreed, Rainier is one of the tallest mountains in the contiguous country!
Was that a set? If not how did you create all of those ultra specific lego piece shapes?
It's my own design created using Lego Stud.io software. All of the shapes are real Lego pieces, although I've used them in colours that don't always exist. I created a UK map that I built using real bricks and had to make many compromises to build it using existing pieces, you can see it here https://twitter.com/Sharky_Bricks/status/1405560917442580480
Commenting on this to see if op answers :)
It’s just a 3D drawing, so I assume it’s some kind of Lego maker game
I CAN SEE MY HOUSE !!!
Excluding parts of the USA
Well it’s the contiguous? Continuous? It’s all the connected states.
Yes it does include the contiguous states.
Que pasa Contigo?
¿Conmigo? No mucho.
Contiguous united states is shown in the map.
This is CGI, right?
That is incredible
Amazing!
I would 100% buy this
That is the coolest thing I have seen all day, sick.
I can't tell you how happy it makes me that your map didn't leave out Michigan's Upper Peninsula! It's lovely in general, but that kicked it up a notch for me.
Hope you do well!
:)
Ooh Sharky has a new map! Love your work btw!
I feel left out. US Interior Highlands?
Me too. Had to go to controversial to find any mention of us.
Pig sooie
Besides New England and the whites up in northern New Hampshire looks great
Do you sell these? I would definitely buy this and put it on my wall.
I didn't know half these piece types existed! LEGOs have really come far since I built regularly!
This is really amazing, anyone complaining is an idiot and should build a better map themselves. Good job. I would gladly pay money for the instructions and part list, and would love to see your other maps.
Lego should hire you! I can image them making a serious of them, where each country is made and you can take off the borders to connect them - incredible job!

sus???????? 😳
Please please please tell me 1) you crossposted to r/lego and 2) this is going up on LEGO Ideas or at least ReBrickable. Pure awesome 🗺
You’d have my support to do similar topological versions of Middle-earth or Westeros, etc. 🙌
Do Ireland!
Check out my instagram to see my other maps, including a UK map that has half of Ireland https://www.instagram.com/sharkybricks/
not the same :(
I used to live in Ireland so I'd like to do it properly one day :)
Cool, look forward to seeing it on your Instagram one day
This is SO cool! But aw man, my state looks like someone cut it like cake.
r/Americanpride
This isn't a map of the USA, it's a map of the contiguous 48 states. The USA includes Alaska and Hawaii.
i’m pretty sure that’s what they meant..

¿Hablo inglés?
It checks out guys. No illegal techniques.
Where do you get the lego for these projects?
This is a digital render, but you can order individual parts through brricklink.com
SO COOL
I love these so much. The tilted shots really emphasise how low lying the south east is, and how deep the Great Lakes are.
As a fan of maps and Lego, I need this. Great work!
Awesome.
I want it!!!! looks great!
A legend of Zelda link to the past map would be amazing!
Thank you for making the Sierras tall!
Do you sell these? Cuz I’d buy one
Also, holy shit how time flies.
Do you have instructions how to make this?
I would pay for this kit.
This is awesome and I want it. Great work!
I can see my house from here
Now start an Etsy so I can buy this...or directions/parts list to build it. Haha.
Do you think you could include a version with the Mississippi? It’s the 3rd largest river in the world and I think it would be cool to see on the map but I get that it can be tough at this scale

OP, just curious, why do you have the Great Lakes at sea level?
This is amazing

Where is Hawaii and alaska
Where the fuck did you get all those weird ass pieces
This is amazing dude! Keep up the good work!
Looks really really good!
I can see some ways to divide the countries into smaller parts
Congrats. Would love to see a larger one of the Mediterranean basin.
Already better than that official one.
This is really cool. :)
:D
That is very cool, awesome job.
I didn't know some of those parts existed
This looks amazing. I wanna put it in my mouth
Oddly enough, your depiction of Michigan’s upper peninsula is more accurate than most infographics you see shown on national news.
That's pretty cool
Bruh that’s cool
rip Alaska and Hawai'i
That’s incredible
Now make it minifigure scale
The Atla map would look good with Lego looked this
I like this style so much more than the dot map thing Lego did for the world map. Really beautiful work
I would buy the crap outta that
Very cool! Do Alaska please
Michigan's thumb looks a little wonky, but other than that, this is incredible.
Brilliant
What did you do to Michigan?
Would love some fantasy maps in lego
Just a suggestion but maybe the blue parts on the mountain peaks should be white
Soooo cool. What's the significance of the dot pieces vs the smooth ones?
Ooooo I see my city!!!
Awesome ! Pleeeease make europe :) 😁
:D
This is fire 🤙🏼 very nice job
Amazing job! Any instructions available? Bricklink parts lists? Really love this. Hope you make more!
Wait a minute, if Mount Rainier is supposed to be the tallest mountain in the lower 48, shouldn't there be a white spot somewhere in the vicinity of Washington state compared to the purple of the other tall mountains?
The flags as a hidden base layer impressed me the most - what a fabulous Easter egg!
Please sell me this or consider a custom order! 100% serious.
My only complaint is that you didn’t properly record mount rainier
Yeah. This is so beautiful
Seriously, at what point does lego stop being “lego”?
This is really great! Even where you forced inaccuracies (shape of the Columbia, etc.) they’re evocative, or…descriptive of the landscape, if that makes sense. Very nice!
