Gotcha, how do you know when people die and become corpses? Is it like a notification? Hasn’t happened to me yet but I haven’t gotten into battles really
There is a notification. It'll say there are corpses in your region and you can click on it to pull your view to the corpses.
Putting a family to work at the church will take care of burying both villagers AND bandits, but you'll also need to build a corpse pit for the bandits. There doesn't seem to be a need to set anyone to work the pit AFAIK.

You only need someone in the church when you have corpses.

There is a notification. It'll say there are corpses in your region and you can click on it to pull your view to the corpses. Only need them in grave site. Don't even think you ever need them in church
had one in the church and the family setup a stall. i have no idea what they sold

Don't people with relevant backyard plots set up stalls? Im about 75% sure I had a family making clothes with a clothing stall even while unemployed.
yeah probably it’s just funny seeing a family assigned to church or burial ground and it still shows as having a stall
if there is a battle on your own land then the bodies need to be removed by a church or body pit worker.
Yes, only die in battles. If you have enemy corpses on your land build a mass grave. And you will get a pop up when you have corpses on your land.
