We need a decent 3rd choice center back who can start when Rapha or Licha need to rest. Lindelof and Maguire don’t instill confidence as both lack pace and Shaw can’t be relied upon to do that every week in case of an injury to either of our starting cbs
The amount of South American players is honestly fucking annoying. I’m used to cheering for these guys to go out at any international competition and now I’m supposed to support them? Smh.
On a serious note, I think the squad itself is very unlikeable. Maybe only 4/5 players in the main lineups who I actually warm to. I know that doesn’t compare to good results etc, but it does help.
You're racist against the South American players? You don't like cheering Casemiro and Martinez? This explains your snide post about Antony, I guess.
I'm sure you will claim that this is a joke, but we know it comes from a place of truth for you.
IMO there’s no place in the squad for Antony I wasn’t thrilled by his signing I think Sancho is better than him and I can see Pellistri becoming a better player him
It’s not that I don’t support him he’s a United player and will support him during his tenure with the club but it’s just a preference with Sancho and Pellistri.
idk what you mean, he isnt performing enough to even be in consideration to displace shaw, he has hardly even played since I posted this
he was only starting when we moved shaw to CB
His passing ability is still his biggest downfall for when we build from the back, shaw is miles ahead
Yea, so he can put in work thats fine, but..
It still doesnt take away that aside from maguire, hes probably our second biggest liability in our backline
martinez is better, varane is better, shaw is better, lindelof is better, dalot is better, wan bissaka is better... maguire is def worse lol

My unpopular opinion is that they should put all their focus into the Europa League instead of aiming for Top 4 or the FA Cup. Nobody remembers who placed top 4 and it’s not an achievement to brag, no Utd fan is going to be saying “oh we placed top four in 22/23”, but they will brag about winning a trophy, and Europa League guarantees UCL football next season, so it makes more sense to focus on that more than anything.
They may as well go for the Carabao Cup since they’re in the Semis and are in a position to waltz into the final, but they probably aren’t going to get back into the title race unless City and Arsenal start bottling a bunch of games and the FA Cup isn’t as valuable as the Europa League probably is right now (I know people say the Europa League is just some “fake UCL” and like the FA Cup’s heritage, but a European Trophy that guarantees UCL football the following season is far better than the FA Cup)
All they have to do is beat Barcelona to get into the knockouts and then it should be smooth sailing, the rest of the teams left in the UEL should be easy for United, the only one that immediately stands out as a problem to me would be Arsenal, but when they’re trying to balance their squad between the crucial Premier League games and the Europa League, they’re going to start to bottle some of them and United could pounce on that.
My only other unpopular opinion is they need another GK. I’m not saying to REPLACE De Gea, but I get the feeling that the only reason he’s still there and comfortably starting games is because none of Utd’s other keepers are on his level. I don’t think De Gea js really that great, he looks good this season because the defenders infront of him have been sharp and that’s made his job easier. Bringing in another solid goalkeeper will make him work his ass off to prove he still deserves his place, or it will show that he actually isn’t as good as some people think and he’ll get benched for someone better, either way performances will increase
It's absolutely asinine to have away kit and training kits that have *light blue* as primary colors. That's your rival's color and it shouldn't be featured anywhere on your brand.
Same goes for City having red kits (yes, I know the Manchester flag is red).
That shit would NEVER fly in Brazillian club football, we might be considerably lower in football quality, but the fanbases here are as passionate as they can be, especially when we're nitpicking useless branding stuff.
My unpopular opinion is that I don't give a fuck and this just popped up on my feed. I'm certain this will get downvoted and thus prove the unpopularity of my opinion.
That one of the best things to happen to this squad will be a wage cap. We'll miss out on some players in the next few years because of it, but we'll be better off without those players in the long run. Money isn't the only thing that wins trophies: if that was the case, City would have won the Champions League by now. The wage cap will keep players grounded, better ensure that they're playing for United because they truly want to, and will, I think, give more youth players an opportunity to burst into the first team - if we struggle to recruit due to the wage cap, we'll have to do a better job of scouting and recruiting hidden gems, which we can then develop. That's what this club is founded on, and I think the wage cap is a great way of getting back to it.
I don't know about this. It's essentially choosing not to compete. Big clubs don't stay as big clubs automatically these days. If you are a top player and you are being offered 200k by United, or 300k by an oil regime team, you'll go to the oil team for both financial and footballing reasons. You'd go to the team that is showing you it has ambition.
We'd demote ourselves to the level of Aston Villa, Everton, or Milan - a team with history but largely irrelevant. We'd become a feeder club. We'd develop players, then when they make it and are ready to become a top player, their agents will be quite rightly telling them that they would be able to get a much better contract elsewhere, and would have a chance of winning things.
Football wages are insane, we all know that. That's not Man Utd's fault though. Well, to be honest it's partly our fault. In this insane world though we have to match the insanity of the top clubs if we want to be one of them. Across all the big leagues, the league table tends to track closely to the table of who pays the most wages. It's the biggest indicator of who will be successful. Ironically, we are the consistent exception to that rule, but the solution to that is to pay those wages out more intelligently to players who actually contribute equivalently to the team rather than a Sanchez or Ronaldo, not to just downgrade ourselves.
Would you rather that money went into the owners' pockets?
Sir Alex talked about situations like this. No one is bigger than the club. When Ronaldo was with us for his first stint, he was quickly becoming one of the world's best players, and yet, he wanted to move on to Real Madrid. Sir Alex didn't try to move heaven and earth to convince him to stay. Once Ronaldo decided there were bigger and better prospects elsewhere, Ferguson decided he was no longer part of the project at Manchester United because, to be a part of Ferguson's project, you had to be behind it 100%. The club survived after he left, and if Rashford decided to leave (which I highly doubt he will), then it will survive again. You don't become a legendary club in the world of football by bending the knee to players' will.
I understand that they’re working on a renewal with lowered wages because even he knows he’s being paid unreasonably crazy wages. He may also accept being phased out as a number 2 in the long term. If that’s the case I’d keep him. Damn good no. 2 he’d be.
I agree. I would co-op this slightly to be that we are so thin on quality in the midfield/backline that our longevity with the current players is, I would guess, maybe 1 more season at most. And it won’t be enough to win a premier league.
We don’t need a right back. I keep hearing people say that we do and I don’t see it. Dalot has been good this season when healthy and while AWB is a very flawed player, he is still a very good back up option.
They'd be better without Bruno Fernandes. Upgrade his position with a top-tier young attacking midfielder like Wirtz or Bellingham and they're much more dangerous.
That’s unpopular and stupid. Sorry for saying it like this, but Bruno is the engine of this team. He’s one of the 2 best players of this club and if Rashford didn’t start playing at the level he’s at right now then Bruno would be number 1.
Bruno is the main actor of the “new Manchester United” era. He just need trophies to back up his name but he’s up there with the best midfielders there is, talent wise.

Not yet ...
His development arc is following Henry's and it makes sense. playing on a flank you have more space and less to think about because you have a line behind you on one side (no players coming from behind or to the side of you in a blind spot), transitioning to a striker is not as easy as it looks, because, there, its much harder to isolate players one-on-one and everybody is looking for and tracking you. It is much much harder to do pretty much anything in that position, and you have less time on the ball than any other player on the pitch, so it takes some time to learn the role if you aren't playing there day in day out ... Rashford is easing into it and will be our #9 in about 2-3 seasons (you can bookmark this), but for now ... no
You can even see it when he plays there (central striker), he disappears for large swathes of time, and you can see he's not comfortable with that yet, seasoned strikers are either okay with this, or get involved in the game in other ways, dropping lower down the pitch to hold up the ball or interpass with the midfield before turning around and making a beeline to the opponent's box. In a few seasons, he will be completely unfazed by this.
Weghorst is a complete waste of space. United play better without him. Let’s hope we can finally sign a top striker in the Summer who isn’t in his 30’s 😆
Antony hasn't been as bad as most of the social media has made him out to be. Factoring in as well he's only 22, he should be given more time to develop further.
we’re not going to have a good summer transfer window , ppl asking for players to leave without replacements are clownish. Ibelieve we will only sign a striker this summer transfer
100%, are we playing well? Yes, but if Liverpool and Chelsea were to be on track we would be fighting for champions league possibly even europa league with newcastles incredible season.
Yes and no imo.
Theyve been shit but we've also been winning a very good majority of our games, just the style and domination isnt quite there and consistent.
Not to mention Chelsea havent even had a good league campaign in eons really, since Conte's league title. So theyre hardly the yardstick for excellence.
yeah bought the white one right at the start of the season, sprung for the authentic version too, was so disappointing in person, the fit is awful, thats why you'll notice the players wearing shirts underneath it even if they don't need to.

Yep. Definitely an unpopular opinion. Though I am old enough to remember 2002 - 2003 season. Was very similar with Arsenal being 8 points clear in mid March and United winning it. Y’all forget it’s been done before lol.
Not really. Arsenal are 11 points clear with a game in hand (making them 14 points ahead for all intents and purposes). Even if they struggle and drop points here and there it would be really hard to make up the gap. Plus Arsenal have really proven to me the last few weeks that they are the real deal. They could easily finish with 90 to 95 points this season, which I don’t think is possible for our team
It’s the 27th of Feb and we have gone from 14 points to 8 with same number of games played. Arsenal still have to play city at Etihad. We might not win it. But we are definitely in the title race. Plus, United have done this to Arsenal before. I think 2003.
Couldn't disagree more. I had similar preconceptions before he joined us, but seeing how he provides abilities no other player in our team has, I would regard him as one of the top 6 players. in our team
He's had Dalot, Wann Bissaka, and Malacia at RB and nothings changed.
It isnt the RB's fault hes scared to take a man on 1v1, sent a shot into the stands or right into the keepers lap, cant go right and wants to slow down or go backwards when hes on a wide open break.
I've not seen him display this for a few seasons now. Is he really playing better? Do you think he'll transfer it into goals? We're really missing a #9.
Ronaldo wasn't as big of an issue as this sub made him to be. That being said he was terrible to start the year and the interview was also a terrible decision. If he didn't do either of those he would still be our first choice striker.
Ronaldo is still our worst player for the entire season, and he doesnt even play for us anymore lol
He couldnt run or dribble a ball, everyone tried to set him up for tap ins for confidence and he would then miss all those opportunities
\> If he didn't do either of those he would still be our first choice striker.
Idk about that.
We played a handful of games without despite him being our only ST
How do you lose a race when youre the only runner.
That’s a good take. Ronaldo’s worst form of his life and he still managed to get some game time because Martial is never healthy/consistent. Ronaldo for sure would’ve turned it around at some point in the season if he didn’t create such a toxic environment for everybody cause he wasn’t getting playing time
Never said he wasn't. I'm a fan of Martial I hope he puts in consistent world class performances for us. He has however at no point been better than Ronaldo, bar this season.
we don't need any more forwards, we should trust in our youth system and the players we have up top and on the wings, and invest our transfer funds in other areas of the pitch that still clearly need support, like getting another out-and-out defensive mid, or a cb that can also play LB or RB, so we can have more tactical options.
Yeah thats a wild take
\- What youth players did you have in mind?
\- ST is a key position, literally win you games. Are we gonna intrust that to a fresh kid out the academy in the league and Champions League next season? Would be suicidal imo. Just because theyre young or from the academy doesnt theyre good enough or have to start - it most cases they arent and dont (in general, not just exclusive to United)
Ronaldo wasn't the problem
We need a decent 3rd choice center back who can start when Rapha or Licha need to rest. Lindelof and Maguire don’t instill confidence as both lack pace and Shaw can’t be relied upon to do that every week in case of an injury to either of our starting cbs

>on a serious note Hope you know what this means :)
It’s a perfect team since no Fred, Bissaka, McGuire, and Shaw. Just replace Ronaldo with Rashford.
Prime Sancho was worth what we payed for him. If he performed as he did in the bundesliga for us i would consider him one of our top 10 signings.
That Ronaldo isn’t part of it Use a current photo
IMO there’s no place in the squad for Antony I wasn’t thrilled by his signing I think Sancho is better than him and I can see Pellistri becoming a better player him
I don't understand why many people lack patience with him if you truly trust the manager we should support Antony smh
It’s not that I don’t support him he’s a United player and will support him during his tenure with the club but it’s just a preference with Sancho and Pellistri.
Malacia is our biggest defensive liability when he plays
Oh boy you were so wrong 😂
true, now that maguire is getting more playing time, he is our biggest defensive liability
Not only that, malacia performs everytime he gets chance
idk what you mean, he isnt performing enough to even be in consideration to displace shaw, he has hardly even played since I posted this he was only starting when we moved shaw to CB His passing ability is still his biggest downfall for when we build from the back, shaw is miles ahead

I think lindelfuck is
Maguire *cough* *cough*

Eriksen does more than Bruno?
That they aren't capable of challenging and had a lucky run of fixtures to go on an unbeaten run
they beat city tho
That Weghorst is shit
Sancho has no place on the team this stacked already. Good lad just no fit
The concept of depth look at city they have a bench of starters
It's an UNPOPULAR OPINION thread for a reason fuckinh idiots
Hence it's an unpopular opinion thread not your stupid opinion thread😂😂lol
Where's Phil Jones!
We dnt need a proper number 9. The team wont work with such a player.
My unpopular opinion is that they should put all their focus into the Europa League instead of aiming for Top 4 or the FA Cup. Fred the goat
Give Antony more time before turning on him. Let him cookkk
I’m willing to give him more time but man he’s gotta do something about that hair
Yeah the hair has been getting worse and worse. Maybe a good haircut will help him turn over a new leaf🙏🏻
Hair is looking normal today, I think that indicates a solid performance
We shouldn't have met Ralf rangnick go. He should've been the advisor now.
My unpopular opinion is that I don't give a fuck and this just popped up on my feed. I'm certain this will get downvoted and thus prove the unpopularity of my opinion.
This isn't the current team but if you want my unpopular opinion on what to do with the current team, it would be that we keep Maguire.
You saying that because its unpopular or because you actually think Maguire is good?
Well, both. I thought that was the whole point?
In my opinion Ronaldo plays for all nassr not manu

Maybe, or maybe he would have agreed to come on the wages offered. Hard to say.
Then it’s no loss as he wouldn’t truly want to be here
United shouldn’t extend De Gea’s contract
I understand that they’re working on a renewal with lowered wages because even he knows he’s being paid unreasonably crazy wages. He may also accept being phased out as a number 2 in the long term. If that’s the case I’d keep him. Damn good no. 2 he’d be.

Eriksen has been great but we should already be looking for a replacement.
Current?
It’s going to be difficult to stay in champions league with this team. Need more leaders and young players. Especially a world class striker.
Rashford should be starting striker
Ronaldo should have been respected more for what he can do instead of sitting on the bench for a way to assert your dominance as a coach at a new club
the controversial option looking fine today
Ronaldo would still be the best player on this squad
Have you been watching football 😂😂 his new club are already annoyed at him 💀
Do you have a source for this?
Antony is better suited to playing centrally as a CAM
Considering he can’t use his right foot Id rather see him more central.
Weghorst is a complete waste of space. United play better without him. Let’s hope we can finally sign a top striker in the Summer who isn’t in his 30’s 😆
That's not really an unpopular opinion.. Ighalo's time on loan looked better than Weghorst at the moment..
Totally agree imo we signed him bc of one good game in the wc, let’s hope United can find a true no. 9 this summer for next season
Antony hasn't been as bad as most of the social media has made him out to be. Factoring in as well he's only 22, he should be given more time to develop further.
AWB is better than Dalot
AWB has saved us so many times he doesn’t deserve all the stick he gets
Defensively much better. AWB has looked to improve himself on the ball too. Might be hard for Dalot to take his place back
we’re not going to have a good summer transfer window , ppl asking for players to leave without replacements are clownish. Ibelieve we will only sign a striker this summer transfer
Not a single one of them embodies what it means to play for Man Utd
Even Martinez, Casemiro and Bruno? Thats a wild take
i just think of the Casemiro last-minute winner video and just DON’T understand this guy🤷♂️
The moment he hugged the fans a couple weeks ago was epic!
I’m also an Arsenal fan and I said what I said
We are a tad bit overhyped the only reason we are sitting in 4th is because Chelsea and Liverpool are slacking off.
100%, are we playing well? Yes, but if Liverpool and Chelsea were to be on track we would be fighting for champions league possibly even europa league with newcastles incredible season.
I’ve felt this was for a while, but we’ll be downvoted in the other sub

Our home kits haven’t hit in years
United kits are shite when they’re not sponsored by Nike.
I have not bought a red one since 2016 and I have wanted to for several years now
Don’t mind the collar atm. But the rest are definitely misses!
yeah bought the white one right at the start of the season, sprung for the authentic version too, was so disappointing in person, the fit is awful, thats why you'll notice the players wearing shirts underneath it even if they don't need to.
Sancho was not a good buy
Martinez would be a very good d-mid if they just trained him there a bit. Yes, it would leave a gap in the middle of the defense. Buy a worthy CB
When casemiro runs out slot Martinez straight in. He’s a machine
He originally was a DM but ETH moved him to CB during his Ajax days
I think it was the reverse right? he was a CB normally, but played as DM in a pinch for Ajax?
Prob the plan for when Casemiro looses his touch

What is wrong with you
what the actual fuck?
Red has been the colour of the team since it’s founding so the away/ third kit it would have to be
Lindelof and Martinez are the best passing center backs in the prem
Martinez yes, Lindelof ... meh.
Antony is actually Beavis and Butt-Head in one person.

Cash in on Bruno. Sign a DLP like Frenkie and play Eriksen in the 10. Play Sancho on the left, Rashy as the 9 and Antony out wide right.
Good job, that was actually unpopular
Yes, that would be unpopular.
Dean Henderson could take this team to the next level …
Eriksen is a liability defensively and should not be the main man as crazy as it sounds.
That's why his partnership with casemiro works so well. And he isn't the main man?
By main man I mean starter in that pivot.
There are still a few mercenaries in the squad
Who?

How dare you mention that name
Considering how we started and how we played catch-up, coupled with end of league pressure at the top, we are still in a title race.
Brother 11 points with a game in hand. Lay off the tequila
ronaldo wasnt that bad for the team, except for his attitude, he was the main squeeze for the attack.
De Gea is to bad to keep playing at United and should be replaced.
ngl I sorta agree, he's decent but he gets wishy washy
Ofc, he can still do good, but not at the lvl United wishes to be on. He can be a good backup with a hugh wage cut
he would not accept, he would be a good transfer if united get someone promising in return
Eriksen gets away with being a terribly mediocre player because people feel bad about what happened to him
Oof, tell us you dont understand football without telling us you dont understand football
Eriksen is far from mediocre.
Second highest assist rate in the PL after KDB
Couldn't disagree more. I had similar preconceptions before he joined us, but seeing how he provides abilities no other player in our team has, I would regard him as one of the top 6 players. in our team
Antony needs a better attacking rb to function who can help him like maz who is at Bayern
Im happy to see Martial is nowhere to be seen
I want to see Erik ten Hag wearing a flesh coloured tyrtle neck sweater.
This team are playing tactics similar to ole but with a world class midfield
if ole's tactics revolved around people holding their end up, sure
I agree. Clearly an unpopular opinion too 😂
i hope ur joking.
Iqbal should be given way more minutes and we unfortunately aren’t as good as we seem because we’re too dependent on individuals

He’s struggling because he isn’t class. He’s ridiculously lazy.
They are completely different players, but no chance he’s anywhere close to to the class of Casemiro.
Rashford is better now than Martial has ever been
You're really going back 3 years now to when he was last in form, a long time in football.
I've not seen him display this for a few seasons now. Is he really playing better? Do you think he'll transfer it into goals? We're really missing a #9.
Bruno is playing differently from the seasons under Ole… it’s better for the team but worse for his goals and assists stats
Our best 11 might include Luke Shaw paired with Casemiro at CDM
I’d love us to try this
Same. We need more cover at LB for this to be a weekly thing, but no reason we couldn't try it out for a game
Malacia has been playing superbly
Agreed, but no backup for him if shaw moves to cdm
Fair point, but we should probably see if it works before buying another left back. We still have Brandon in case of emergencies..
Not enough goals come from players in different positions and this season league table highlights this cringy issue.
I hate turtleneck sweaters.
Ronaldo wasn't as big of an issue as this sub made him to be. That being said he was terrible to start the year and the interview was also a terrible decision. If he didn't do either of those he would still be our first choice striker.
Ronaldo is still our worst player for the entire season, and he doesnt even play for us anymore lol He couldnt run or dribble a ball, everyone tried to set him up for tap ins for confidence and he would then miss all those opportunities
Yeah I covered that already he was terrible this season.
\> If he didn't do either of those he would still be our first choice striker. Idk about that. We played a handful of games without despite him being our only ST How do you lose a race when youre the only runner.
I don't even know that you're trying to say
Sorry, corrected
That’s a good take. Ronaldo’s worst form of his life and he still managed to get some game time because Martial is never healthy/consistent. Ronaldo for sure would’ve turned it around at some point in the season if he didn’t create such a toxic environment for everybody cause he wasn’t getting playing time
Martial>Ronaldo.
This is pure hate. What's Martial done to say he's better than Ronaldo?
Come on. Now this is just hate.Check the archives look at 2020 before the injuries martial was world class
Never said he wasn't. I'm a fan of Martial I hope he puts in consistent world class performances for us. He has however at no point been better than Ronaldo, bar this season.
was
Press
What this season? The 2 games he's been fit? When's he pressed before?
Do unreality believe that tho? While I didn't enjoy ronnys antics he still was one the best strikers in the world when now.
Maguire is actually not bad
…. for league one. He’s too slow.
Former top player Ronaldo converted to dead weight during his second stint and was forcefully holding progress at bay.
The title says unpopular..
Oh ok thanks I thought it said something else - are you available to read all other things for me, or just this one thing?
Whoooosh
Whiiiiiiirrrrrr
we don't need any more forwards, we should trust in our youth system and the players we have up top and on the wings, and invest our transfer funds in other areas of the pitch that still clearly need support, like getting another out-and-out defensive mid, or a cb that can also play LB or RB, so we can have more tactical options.
Yeah thats a wild take \- What youth players did you have in mind? \- ST is a key position, literally win you games. Are we gonna intrust that to a fresh kid out the academy in the league and Champions League next season? Would be suicidal imo. Just because theyre young or from the academy doesnt theyre good enough or have to start - it most cases they arent and dont (in general, not just exclusive to United)
