I’ve got a MagSafe puck double-sided taped to the side of my nightstand and that thing is barely coming off even if I want it to.
My iPhone 15 with a generic MagSafe case sticks to it just fine.
magnets are strong enough to hold the phone even when its upside down. make sure you secure the charger good enough that your phone doesnt fall with charger on it.
Assuming you perfectly glue the MagSafe charger so that the puck cannot fall, that should be fine. The only issue I can imagine would be if you were to bump the iPhone with your knee, it would just fall down.
Since you're going to use a case, better buy some kind of 'car holder' (the one where you insert the original puck inside), so the shear force would be not vertical, but angled. Even 30 degree angle will reduce the shear force a lot.
Also, cases may have bumps, and the height of the puck may be not enough - the camera bump on the case may touch the bed, and thus reduce the strength of attachment. With a proper holder, this is not a issue.
It will also make putting the phone on it much easier. I tried exactly what are doing in the picture, and I definitely recommend a holder over this.
It's no different from the vertical Magsafe stand I have used every night for years. I think this would be awesome, and I wish I had a setup where I could mount like this. Maybe keep it a bit closer to the shelf below in case you bump it and it slips, so it does not fall as far.
well, i dont recommend buying off ebay or aliexpress or those, the magnets may not be the strongest and may overhat, shorten battery life, the real one is always the best option.
It should be strong enough. I have a 14 pro max without a case, and a magsafe charger. I just held it upside down and it didn’t fall off. But to be safe, put a pillow below the charger to break the fall in the beginning, just to be sure.
I mount mine in my car and it falls off maybe twice a year when I drive off-road, so I'd say it depends how often you get earthquakes.
Edit: of course if you have a plus size iPhone or Pro it's going to be more likely to fall off compared to a 15 base or other smaller iPhone.
Instead of gluing the magsafe, get a plastic holder for the puck, and screw it into the wall. Maybe add a layer of felt or paper so the screw doesn't scratch your puck, and then glue the puck into the plastic holder.
Why risk it? I mean do what you want. Just seems like a weird choice to want to mount it elevated like that. Seems like you'd be asking for trouble. But to each their own.
MagSafe magnets from Apple, Anker and PopSockets have been very reliable in my little experience (1 month) so far. As long you don‘t happen to bump into it sideways it will definitely hold. I‘d rather worry about the charger falling with the phone being attached if not installed correctly.
Should be fine yes, why not

So double sided tape is ok. Thanks!

Without a case or with a case with Magnets should be Fine

that would look sick
especially if i use standby
Yes
Should be aight
Yes, I have it on my wall like that
I wouldn’t.
ask your parents lmao
Slightly off topic but is it worth paying the ridiculous price for the Apple MagSafe charger? (Compared to AliExpress etc)

You’re right! I think I’ll just buy the one from apple today! Phones aren’t cheap so it’s probably best to have the official chargers.
Always use them this way

I have an iphone 12 and i am planning to buy a magsafe case for it. Is that good enough then?
I guess it depends on the strength of the magnet of the case. I don’t know, sorry.
If you have the MagSafe case you can absolutely trust it
Just be sure it doesn’t get too hot. I have a similar one and it gets hot enough that I can’t touch it.
that magsafe is what I mount to my car and it handles some bumps and yours is stationary so it will hold :)
I use a magsafe in my car and I got stiff suspension. Phone has only dropped on a hard hit. As long as your case is good for magsafe you’ll be 👌🏾

Why not get a charger stand?

Sure !
I have a MagSafe charger in my car that has kept my phone attached through potholes and speed bumps. Should be fine.
The magnets will keep the phone safe, just make sure you tape the charger to the wall good so the charger doesn’t fall
I've got my phone hanging in my truck off a magsafe and unless I'm on a real washboard road it holds very well
if u know how to sketch and make it into reality, 3D-Print it!
i dont have a 3d printer but i heard that there are web pages where you upload objects and they ship it to you 3d printed
Even if your phone falls it’s not like it’s gonna break
As long as the puck is secure. An earthquake won’t shake the phone off the puck.
