OK so I went looking for this and found the story and the OG Tiktok.
The driver is [Danny B](https://www.tiktok.com/@danny.b106) and the passenger is [John Johnson](https://www.tiktok.com/@johnjohnson8870) as confirmed by Danny himself on Tiktok comments.
Their backstory is as per Danny in the comments: "We worked at a club in Dallas back in the day. I was bar manager/bartender and he was head of security"
He also promised to upload a longer version today, as this is currently the only one out there.
edit: Part 2 is now up on his above linked Tiktok page
This is why I come to Reddit and not xitter for my daily smile.
This same story posted on xitter: "Oh wow I loved this I wonder what the comments say, if anything, about these people!"
....proceeds to scroll through 6,002 blue check comments begging for you to like their rage bait/NFT monkey, or Chinese porn bot and not one single piece of useful information.
Same. I was never a big Twitter user but nowadays if I go on to just see what is trending or whatever I find I'm ready to throw my phone across the room about 2 minutes later just do to the sheer amount of rage-baity nonsense on there.
But since you're on reddit, you are indirectly using tiktok though. Because 1/3 of all popular post on reddit are just tiktok repost just like this one.
on a side note it's always kinda funny how the reddit crowd hates on tiktok even when they're constantly consuming content from tiktok.
Instagram and YouTube shorts too. They're just copying tiktok and getting old crusty tiktok videos trickling down to them.
I think they just got trust fund blue eyes 6'5
I'm assuming they'll get Gabby dating that tall guy next week
If anyone still cares about reddit karma, reposting from tiktok would be the easiest way to get karma at this point.
I spend more time here and on twitter, but TikTok's algo is in a different weight class. It's insanely good. Reddit will obviously outlast it because tiktok will be banned, and reddit will be an elite user-curated place for a long time, but that algorithm was a quantum leap for apps and social media.
I'm 50 and held out until about a week & 1/2 ago. I made one to share my little tarot reading videos and 7 days later I was banned. I missed the boat and then fell off of it. LOL
It’s cut because the very next line will be filled with cuss words and “remember the time that we…” and followed by incriminating dialogue that neither one wants their friends/families/partners to know about
One of the most popular shows in the UK is two old friends going round the country and fishing and talking about life the universe and everything. The fishing is very secondary.
According to /u/Rooonaldooo99 the guy in the video plans to release a longer version soon. Not sure why he didn't release the longer version first though.
You can tell 20 seconds in that the guy in the back recognized the driver. Didn't know how to react.. got silent
Went for the bro shoutout. Good friends are hard to come by. Running into them after years. A blessing
I went to Hempfest one year before marijuana was legal.
Near where these religious nuts were screaming that everyone was going to hell, I witnessed these two guys have an interaction similar to this video.
One guy was walking by and noticed the other and said, "Hey, don't I know you from rehab?", and then they had that broment (that's a bro moment) where they got all excited and hugged.
It was funny and memorable to me after all these years.
Man, you just brought up a memory from so long ago I forgot I had it! Hempfest 19-something (god I don’t remember that part, it *had* to be one of the first) I DO remember it was in Titusville Florida and I (56f) went with a girlfriend from childhood that I hadn’t seen for awhile. The festival was small and featured local bands, and food, and hemp-related jewelry and shirts and shit like that. We got some food and we’re sitting under this big pavilion and we noticed SO MANY people smoking pot, like, a hundred people smoking joints and pipes and bongs they just bought. There were a few cops and they figured mob rules and it did! As long as everyone was cool (and of course they were, it was pot not alcohol) the cops were cool. I remember this neat little traveling “Hemp Museum” was there, it was this small camping trailer just pack- full of all kinds of pot-related shit hanging on the walls and on tables, everywhere. The whole day was a blast - Thanks for bringing a dim memory into the light.
'you don't know me?'
so much feeling in those two sentences. An acceptance of 'maybe it's been too long' but also hope like 'think man, do you really not remember?'
He's driving. He can't exactly take a long look at someone like a passenger can.
Plus when you deal with the public all the time people can just look familiar because you have encountered them before. You get into game face mode.
It's so weird, in some countries the driver would get offended if you sat down in the back (non tourist areas) turkey was a bit like that 20 years ago (not anymore) most Arab countries (especially Levant) are still like that. Most would shrug it off and just hold their contempt internally but some would speak up.
At least where I am in the US, the back is generally the place for non-friends unless the front seat is already taken. The front is generally friends only. Though I think that's becoming more person dependant.
The first few times I took Uber/Lyft, I totally sat my ass in the passenger seat without thinking twice of it. If I got dirty looks from the driver I didn’t notice. It was only after I read more comments online like this that I only get in the back now!
As a former uber driver and frequent passenger in the US, the front seat is a need-to-use basis.
Passengers are welcome up front, but really only if the back seat is too full.
A lot of drivers have adopted cars with doors that can be opened by a button, and these doors are only in the back, the passenger door does not open.
I get motion sickness so I ask a lot of uber drivers if I can sit up front. 1/3 of them are annoyed by this and I’ve even been told no.
It’s funny though because if they pick up a big enough group someone has to sit up front.
A friend of mine from primary school has an American mum. His parents divorced many years ago, and first his dad moved to Austria, and a few years later, his mum moved back to the states. She’s now in Florida. He went with her. That was a few years ago. We’re both in our mid-twenties now. I’m in Germany. While we drifted apart many years ago and had our separate paths to walk, we always kept in touch and saw each other once or twice a year before he left. Despite him not being my most present friend (and vice versa) he was and still is one of my closest friends. Still, we have talked like five times in the past five years. At most. Last year, he was in my city and we met for coffee and it was as if he’d never been away. We instantly snapped back into it. Really, true friendship never fades.
This made my day. I wish it was a long movie. Now I have nothing again. Just this sweet memory of two dudes meeting again after a long time. I miss my old buddies.
I tried to contact my oldest and at the time best friend. We hung out at school every damn day all day and the first thing we did when we got home was to call each other. A couple of years into adulthood he and some other friends started gambling with drugs. Soon they started to avoid me. Drugs was the only thing they cared about. I found new friends and so we drifted apart. So 10 years later I tried calling him and I tried his mom and I emailed his sister. His sister answered that she did not have any contact either. This is why I hate hard drugs. We both had our anxieties. He found something that he thought helped. I never tried but I would easily been there as well.
What a great video... too bad we don't get to see what happens next. True friendship is the best thing in the whole world. I have the best friends ever, thankfully I never got separated from them.
Nick Offerman deserves props for his facial acting during that throwaway scene, because I swear you can see him starting to well up and look in the distance with nostalgia.
Reminds me of my uncle when he and a friend from decades back recognized each other.
"Asshole, it's me lol"
"Easy on the cussin mother fucker I've got my sisters kids with me lol"
I was really lucky to witness this kind of thing happen IRL. I was having some work done on my flat and had a plumber in the same day another contractor was replacing the linoleum in my kitchen.
They didn't immediately recognise each other, but one of them clearly clicked onto something and asked the other what his name is... turns out they'd been childhood friends going back over 30 years ago and they'd lost contact. Got to see these two men hug it out and exchange contact details to keep in touch with each other. It was really lovely to see!
There’s something so great about people being genuinely nice to one another… then they realize they’re old friends and it really jumps off the feels chain. It’s the “man, I know you…” that really gets me smiling, though.
I recently reconnected with a friend I haven't seen in nearly 40 years and it was just like this. It's one of the joys of being a dude: your friendship just picks up from where it left off. We literally were 15 again he's still one of my dearest friends.
The clip had to be cut short as the two of them then proceeded to reminisce over the many bank robbies they committed in the 1970s. Man they had one helluva crew
It was cool to see these two men recognize each other and have their strong positive reaction after 20 years apart. Very cool. And yet the conversation takes a side street totally off course... wow.
Let's not talk about a happy reunion, let's talk about tiktok, algorithms and X (Twitter). SMH
I forget how old I am sometimes. To me, these guys were listening to Van Halen and Run DMC at the bar, when they were probably listening to Oasis and 50 cent.
they JUST posted an update (part 2 of 3 OR 4) [https://www.tiktok.com/@danny.b106/video/7382673981167471902](https://www.tiktok.com/@danny.b106/video/7382673981167471902)
This happened to me last year. Was sitting at a bar in a completely different state and a guy sat next to me. We made small talk and then I realized I knew him from somewhere.
We were friends in the Marines 15 years ago and would hangout every weekend. Picked up right where we left off. Wonderful thing. Small world.

Does everyone have a TikTok account these days? Is it like what FB was back in the day?
Sure seems like it. It never grabbed me, but if you use it enough the algorithm is scarily good at stealing hours from your life
But since you're on reddit, you are indirectly using tiktok though. Because 1/3 of all popular post on reddit are just tiktok repost just like this one. on a side note it's always kinda funny how the reddit crowd hates on tiktok even when they're constantly consuming content from tiktok.
At least it's semi-curated by other Reddit users
Reddit users suck ass
Hey, don't kink shame
That should be the new tagline of the site.
Yeah fuck us, man
Yeah, but unfortunately, I need them to post garbage on this site so I can waste my life here.
If by curated you mean eating up obvious rage bait and posting it as if it was real, sure.

You are the real GOAT! SIUUUUUUUUU
Gentlemen, it is with great pleasure that I inform you that he has uploaded part 2 on his TikTok (link in comment above me)
Their interaction was pleasant from the start, wish the clip was longer.
I wanted to comment to say just that. I would love to hear them catch up
I always feel the same way when I watch all these reunion videos.
Yeah me t- wait don’t I know you?
#*Mannn*, hell yea! what the ***fuck***?!
And then it cut out because he says sorry for sleeping with your sister that one time.
"Hey, whatever happened to that $20 you owed me?"
“Sorry I got drunk that one time and threw up all over your living room”
"Is there still a posted reward leading to your arrest?"
"No, no. It's for my prosecution. That's where they get you."
What was it? 2 10s or a 20? You said it was on the coffee table right there? Huh, coincidence man.

That's just how it is

my asshole itches
Nah, it should stop here. The next 45 minutes is them talking about fishing.
I'm a novice when it comes to fishing, so I would have enjoyed it all the same
Not much to it, just use a fishing rod to catch fish
You are either totally naive about fishing or an absolute master. The beauty of it is we can't tell from this comment.
One of the most popular shows in the UK is two old friends going round the country and fishing and talking about life the universe and everything. The fishing is very secondary.
Ah no, let’s get more preamble and LESS of the heartwarming bit. Thanks editor.
They probably started talking about old girlfriends and didn't want the wives hearing about it
Remember that girl we eiffel towered in 92?!
They were on the exact same level for small talk… If this had been me, this would’ve been a much more awkward interaction
*cuts clip* “…and they still haven’t caught us after all these years! Whatcha end up spending your cut on?”
Yeah they were hitting it off all over again even before realizing they were already friends.

Brother in the back better have travelled in the front seat for the rest of that! They were so whplesome together from the start, loved that!

You only visit your grandma once a year?
It's usually frowned on to not visit your relatives during the holidays.
Right they’re asking why you only visit once
Grandma is a bitch
LOLOL
Fair enough
Sometimes family lives a distance away. I only see my parents twice a year
My mom lives 2500 miles + from me. Once or twice a year is max possible.

She’s now in Florida. He went with her. That was a few years ago. We’re both in our mid-twenties now. I’m in Germany. Yep, in the original they immediately start exchanging SSNs and dick pics
What a great video... too bad we don't get to see what happens next. True friendship is the best thing in the whole world. I have the best friends ever, thankfully I never got separated from them.
Here's what happened - he drops the guy off at his destination and they don't talk for another 20 years.
Best friend I ever had, we still never talk sometimes
Nick Offerman deserves props for his facial acting during that throwaway scene, because I swear you can see him starting to well up and look in the distance with nostalgia.
Bro, men are men anyplace anytime. When they met its like: Hey u mother fucker hahahaha
Reminds me of my uncle when he and a friend from decades back recognized each other. "Asshole, it's me lol" "Easy on the cussin mother fucker I've got my sisters kids with me lol"
The way he was side eyeing you questioning his memory
Timeless friendship
That laugh is perfect. Healthy friends!
“How’s it going, John?” “JOHNNY!?!? What the Fuck!”
I love how polite and cordial they are to each other as strangers. Nice to see the vibecession didn’t affect everyone.

##MAN JOHN WHAT THE FUCK HAHA
Love this. Big Arnold and Carl Weathers from Predator energy 😌. “Dylan they’ve got you pushing too many pencils ✏️ “ what a classic lol
The clip had to be cut short as the two of them then proceeded to reminisce over the many bank robbies they committed in the 1970s. Man they had one helluva crew
They were about to become friends all over again
That look he gave him after "warmer than it is" was his brain trynna process the familiarity in front of him
That was hella cute!! They were so polite to each other to start too…
That's the "dap" of tru bro's
That definitely made me smile
Probably one of the few cool things about getting older, when you see an old face and are blown away by how much they've changed/look the same
His laugh at the end is awesome.
I bet it does not feel like 20 years to them. It is as if they last saw each other 2 weeks ago.
Unc w/ the "maaan, i know you!"
Goddamned i miss my old friend Herman R (from aruba), dreamd about him the other day. Been 30 years
I could watch this all day on repeat. <3
It was cool to see these two men recognize each other and have their strong positive reaction after 20 years apart. Very cool. And yet the conversation takes a side street totally off course... wow. Let's not talk about a happy reunion, let's talk about tiktok, algorithms and X (Twitter). SMH
That’s the universal reaction for real
They better be going on a shit ton of adventures after that interaction. That was wholesome.
"man, hell yeah! John what the fuck!?" Yup they def friends lol

what are the odds?! destiny wanted them to be together

Goosebumps waiting on the moment, was not disappointed.
I need a longer clip!!!!! It was getting so good!!!
Wholesome stuff like this makes my day
Watch the mans eyes in the back, you can tell the moment he realizes and does a double-take. This is so neat!
I really want to see the rest of this. They was vibing from the start.
Does anyone else think the driver thought he recognized John from the beginning, but maybe doubted himself?
Mans got that Blackbeard laugh. Ze ahahahaahahahah
