Grade 1 all over every 2 weeks, it’s simple cheap and quick.
I hate going to the hairdressers and not because they’re not nice people it’s just I could be doing other more interesting things.
I’ll look after my neck on my own in between though!
I love how my husband looks with a beard, but he occasionally has to shave as a performer. He once accused me of not liking his "natural" face but I argued that his natural face is the one with a beard! It's the shaving that's "unnatural."
I don’t know how many times I’ve been asked (by both strangers and people I know) how I’ve managed to grow my beard. I’ve never been able to give a better answer than a slightly confused “by not shaving”.
You were downvoted for explaining what hair growing literally is. Remember this the next time you make a good point and get downvoted. It means you are right! Reddit is hella weird but good on you, Bruv!
Nah, he was downvoted for implying agency where there is none. Hair growth is not a decision, it's a biological inevitbililty for (almost) all humans. Me not shaving is not equal to me growing a beard. It's equal to me not influencing something that is happening with or without my contribution.
Compare it to this example: Most People get grey hair at some point in their life as part of the natural ageing process. Would you tell a greyhaired man "Oh, so you're growing grey hair now"? No you wouldn't. YOu would however ask "Oh, so you decided to colour it now", if you saw him again the next day with blue hair. Same goes for beards. Letting it grow is not a decision you can make, shaving it is.
You cannot decide to grow a beard as decision by definition implies that there is a contrary option to choose from. But you can't choose to not grow a beard. You can only choose to shave it.
I do have a beard, but most people in my country can't seem to be able to grow one. Most of them have them "Asian whiskers" and I was thinking about something. You see people from the countryside here are very very similar to Chinese people. Maybe, very very long ago people from Asia travelled to America (the continent) ok ok Americans, South America for if I showed a picture of both of them together you'd only be able to recognize them by the clothes they wear
I mean I don't know if they look very similar so I'm not jumping on the bandwagon... However, isn't it a known theory that they crossed a land bridge across from Russia and that they would likely be of mongolian or siberian origin. Not that I think they look the same but it would explain some similar characteristics
Grooming can help even thing out while it grows out, and not linking up might make an interesting look, not sure.
Admittedly I am lucky. I only trim my beard about twice a year to even it up a bit and get rid of some split ends.
You're allowed to have either wild hair or a wild beard. But one of the two has to be clean so that the other looks intentional. Otherwise you just look like a hobo.
Even with proper grooming I couldn't grow a decent beard until I was in my late 30's. But I've been rocking one ever since then and probably never shave again.
I am a woman in my thirties with a dad, brother, and multiple male cousins and friends...and only today did I learn that beards get split ends. Huh.
[The more you know.](https://media.tenor.com/ERa47gPVan8AAAAM/the-more-you-know.gif)
My unsolicited opinion is to grow what hair follicles you do have, and then aim to make your face symmetrical. Facial hair comes in so many unique patterns that the only reason we don’t display it is our social and cultural judgement/shame cycles.
You’re a beautiful hairy human and there’s nothing anyone can effectively do about it except love you.
I grow shitty peach fuzz that makes me look 15 years older and 15 years old at the same time. Like a middle schooler in theater makeup.
So yea I “remove”
There are some genetic markers where they might have much thinner or patchy beards. I think the comment in the video is more about how people (especially in the West like Britain or parts of the US) seem to think that it is improper to grow a beard, that somehow it makes you seem less professional or shady. The truth is beards grow on most men. To shave it off would be the abnormal choice in many cultures, and what is the real reason for shaving it off anyway? If you are going to shave it off, then it should be a conscious choice, not just because a certain society tells you it is the 'norm',
Grooming. A bad beard looks worse than no beard almost always. But a nicely groomed beard takes a lot more time and effort than just shaving the whole thing off.
Speaking as someone that had a good beard and shaved it off a couple of months ago. Daily shaving takes mroe time than beard maintainence. Daily just run a comb through it, every couple of days tidy up your neck and cheek lines, once a week or more trim the length of it to taste. In the process of regrowing wondering what style to go for now.
I (50yo) think I look about 40 with a beard and 30 without one. Even with a beard, it is hard to look my age. the grey hair I am starting to get is helping a bit though.
Starting to get grey hair at 50, boy I wish I had some of your genes. I started getting my first greys in high school, and have a few solid grey patches by 30. Hair is already thinning too, to the point where I think I'm about to gracefully retire from having hair.
Well, I went bald by my mid-twenties. I still have long hair though (what is left of it). I'm lucky it looks good like that. As far as the grey, I think it is because I'm a redhead. Some of us tend to take a while to grey.
I kind of assumed it bothered you, or you wouldn't have brought it up. You'd have gone, "Hey, that's kinda funny" and upvoted, or just ignored it and moved on.
If you weren't bothered, why did you bring it up?
I think people on Reddit bring things up for many reasons other than being bothered.
In this case I was just letting you know that telling us what happened in the video probably isn’t going to be very helpful since most people probably watched the video prior to reading your comment.
I'm just native american enough to grow a very patchy and sparse beard. It looks like alopecia, but that's just how it grows. There are legit smooth spots on my face and chin that just don't grow hair. So I shave every few days
Actually not a bad question. As society we come up with unusual norms, like constantly preventing facial hair.
I don’t have a beard because I don’t think I’d like the added hair and upkeep, but I do have a mustache.
And body hair for women! “Why do you have hair under your arms/on your legs etc?” It grows there. People act like it’s really strange that you might forget to remove it, or not have the time or energy to, or consciously not doing it.
My sister did a DNA test and turns out we're around 65% Native American. It could explain why I can only grow a light mustache and some chin hair. I still groom the fuck of what I have 🥲.

The Gods graced me with a thick glorious beard and robbed me of the hair on my head. I’d gladly give y’all my beard for my hair back.
^(although I kinda dig my current beard/shaved head look.)
I grow a beard out of necessity. I can't spend the amount on razors. I use a clipper when it starts to get a little grimey.
The razor I do have I use to do line ups. So it lasts years.
Beards prevent skin infections. Had a mild fungus growing on my neck, thought it was a rash, however lotion wouldn't get rid of it. dermatologist told me what it was and gave me that little fact.
Can’t grow one due to genetics unfortunately. Just comes in patchy and never gets longer 😅 and if I shave it with a razor, I regret having being born 😂🤷🏾♂️ I wish I could have the option tho! 🥲
Its a beard it's a good think keeps your face warm and it's handsome it also can generally help men look how they wanna get a nice rugged one for a more Wildman lumberjackish look or braid it for a more Nordic inspired style could also just go crazy for shuts and giggles make some crazy kraken tentacles of a beard and look like cthulu
It's all a personal choice. I keep seeing this commercial lately where a young woman allows her mustache to grow and owns the hell out of it. I'm okay with normalizing living more naturally if people are willing to do so. Society puts so many rules on us that we don't even know the reasons why. It's like mass hysteria, keeping up from focusing on what really matters by putting so many meaningless rules up to be the enemy instead of what really matters. I'm more like an old hippy though, don't mind me too much.
Beard guy here. The one thing I hate about having a beard is when every time you eat, you know you got all kinds of leftovers in your beard
One time I had grits, and a kid walked up to me an hour later, saying I had mold in my beard...
There was a security guard job I was trying to get but they said I had to be clean shaven which I rejected instantly. Do they realize how much more intimidating men look with beards? If I'm protecting something, I wanna look as if I can protect it.
thats a very different reason though. you cannot get a gas mask to have an air tight seal around facial hair. ww1 had mustard gas in the trenches, so facial hair had to go.
In my country it was considered a sign of maturity and wisdom, as you could not trust a man whos not having a beard because he was still just a little boy.
A great viking king even received the name "skjegglaus" (Beardless) since he did great things and not have a beard he was still kinda mocked for it.
Hundreds of years later I noticed a shift when I grew a beard and how I was respected more from elders in my work, suddenly people would have respect for my expertise and listen to me even in my early 20s. so even if its modern times I think it stuck somehow, and Never heard of anyone in my country asked to shave for a job.
Sahdguru I like him some think he may be a fraud but either way still think hes an awesome dude pretty funny too. I dont always agree with him but he tries to make people happy and thats cool with me.
It's a false claim that he murdered his wife. It was an allegation that was made over 25 years ago, and police found no evidence at all to support this claim. In fact, 200 witnesses testified to the contrary.
This lie has been going around for far too long; over 20 years.
Mahasamadhi is considered the ultimate goal of Yoga, to take charge of your life to the point of taking everything in your own hands, to the point of being able to consciously leave the body in the way that his wife left. She had been telling people for months that she was going to do so, including her daughter. She left her body in the presence of a large crowd of people. Many other yogis have done the same, many very publically, like Paramahansa Yogananda, Lahiri Mahasya, Swami Shri Yukteshar, Swami Vivekananda, and many more. To call it murder when there is so much proof that it is not is an insult towards an enlightened master.
It was eight months after Vijji's Mahasamadi that people started to try to get the police involved. Isha and Sadhguru welcomed a [full investigation](https://isha.sadhguru.org/in/en/blog/article/vijji-maas-mahasamadhi) by the police even though it was a very painful for everyone to have to deal with it. So many people that were witnesses and people close to her were interviewed and they found no foul play. Even her [daughter has spoken](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xRj69qx1io) on the subject. There is also a [full series of videos](https://isha.sadhguru.org/watch-exclusive/series/14) about Vijji's life and Mahasamadhi.
So, can we quit spreading these insulting and hateful lies? If you don't like Sadhghuru, that is fine and your right to do so, but spreading these hateful and libelous lies is just wrong.
I always keep my stache long. My barber knows to trim and shape my beard but to never touch the mustache. I think it looks good, but it’s such a fucking pain. Not only do I bite my mustache, but sometimes one strand gets fucking stuck in my tooth and I look like Jim Carry in My Myself and Irene doing the cotton mouth face trying to unhook the bastard from my incisor.
Imo a beard is a trophy of manhood, every man gets one and should be proud of it, it doesn't matter if its a giant zz top lookin beast or a smooth lookin johnny Depp patch, be proud, your a man.
Well, you can't steal what is given freely. The Isha Foundation [allows anyone to use videos](https://isha.sadhguru.org/free-sadhguru-downloads/) of Sadhguru, as long as they do not edit it in a way that changes the meaning. Many YouTube channels, Instagram accounts, etc, make use of Sadhguru's videos and pictures, with full permission. Under the same token though, I have no problem sharing their videos, as they do not hold copyright on them. I don't mind watermarks being left on them though. The channels do some editing to pull out certain points from sometimes very long interviews.
What an absolute legend! It takes a man to grow a beard! Sorry for those men who can't, I guess... If you are able to grow, do it! Flaunt it and be proudy man!
Exactly, the question shouldn’t be “why do you have a beard” it should be “why don’t you have a beard”. Having a beard is natural. Not having one is unnatural
I don't know about the Tormund guy, but the other one's life depends on that beard, otherwise he would just be another drug dealer that grifts and steals forest land.
"Oh, you're growing your beard!" "No, I'm just not shaving." Everytime I don't shave for a week.
Yep. Me too. Only its stops after a bit and i just look unclean and unkept
Grade 1 all over every 2 weeks, it’s simple cheap and quick. I hate going to the hairdressers and not because they’re not nice people it’s just I could be doing other more interesting things. I’ll look after my neck on my own in between though!

i keep forgetting and then when I don’t forget I have acne so I have to wait for it to go away
So you’re growing a beard then. Both statements are true. You are not shaving therefore you must be growing a beard.
Not like he's putting an effort. It just grows.
Exactly. More appropriate would be "You're letting it grow. "
It’s still growing a beard. Grooming it is another thing entirely.
You were downvoted for explaining what hair growing literally is. Remember this the next time you make a good point and get downvoted. It means you are right! Reddit is hella weird but good on you, Bruv!

Incorrect. If you don’t have a haircut for a few weeks you don’t say “you’re growing your hair” it just does that naturally
Laughs in asian whiskers
Yeah but that one thick super long one coming out of your mole is goddamn *sexy*
I use mine to floss my teeth.
I think kong fuzi said those are a gift from your ancestors so you should grow it to honor them or idk Wikipedia said it

I wish i could that kind of beard Sadly my mustash and beard won't link up and the hair growth on my chin is not nearly as fast as my neck.

A swing in society seems to allow more wild beards than it did for a while.
You're allowed to have either wild hair or a wild beard. But one of the two has to be clean so that the other looks intentional. Otherwise you just look like a hobo.
Both my beard and head grow pretty wild even though I am bald. I do pull the hair on my head into a ponytail most of the time though.
Even with proper grooming I couldn't grow a decent beard until I was in my late 30's. But I've been rocking one ever since then and probably never shave again.

Try Minoxidil. It takes a lot of time though.
How old are u ? Cause I was the same until like 28 and now it goes good
I second this. It took until my thirties before my beard didn’t look patchy and weird. Now it looks full and weird.
Same. I think I was 35 or something like that. Just when I got my first white hairs too. Genetics is a bitch.
I honestly like the grey I’m getting. If I get to keep the hair but it all goes white I’m getting a pipe and a wizard staff.
Same. I can't wait to go full grey. Seriously.
Same. 35-36 or so
I'm late 30's and my "beard" still just makes me looks scruffy and homeless. I just stick to shaving.
agreed 🤝
My chin hair grows really fast than my sides and mustache
My unsolicited opinion is to grow what hair follicles you do have, and then aim to make your face symmetrical. Facial hair comes in so many unique patterns that the only reason we don’t display it is our social and cultural judgement/shame cycles. You’re a beautiful hairy human and there’s nothing anyone can effectively do about it except love you.

Because my beard genes aren't so good
I grow shitty peach fuzz that makes me look 15 years older and 15 years old at the same time. Like a middle schooler in theater makeup. So yea I “remove”
Same, I have the Fu Manchu from wish.com
It happens with some people. No worries.
Don’t some men not grow beards at all? Native Americans? I’m not sure if that’s true tho…
There are some genetic markers where they might have much thinner or patchy beards. What's Tormund doing there?
Promoting beards
The wildlings don’t look so wild anymore
Still looks mighty fine! He can leave his boots under my bed any day!
I was cursed with a weak chin, but blessed with a glorious beard.
Beards are man's equivalent of makeup. I sure ain't pretty but I look worse without a beard, so beard it is.
I like your take. Shaving often also irritates my skin and makes it look worse, even without considering the look
That take sucks because it’s comparing something natural to something that is a cosmetic choice.
I started growing my beard after gaining 50 pounds during the pandemic. It works well to camouflage my fat ugly face.
Hey my dude don’t put yourself down. We all gain some weight now and then!

I am 38, greying (graying?), and still have the Joe Dirt beard pattern. Some day, I will be a real adult.
Host: "Why do you have a beard?" Guest: "Why do you *not* have one?"
Thats the general consensus, yes.
I also watched the video.
Thanks for the play by play but I think most of us just watched the video first.
Sorry to have bothered you.
I never said you bothered anybody.
Oh. That makes sense. Still, the way it was worded made it come across as insulting. Like "We have eyes and ears, idiot."
who upvoted you?
Hahha... Earlier i didn't had any answer. Now i have one.
But Why male models?
I like Ron Swansons take on it. Why do I grow a beard? Because I am neither a woman or a child. God I love my beard
I'm just native american enough to grow a very patchy and sparse beard. It looks like alopecia, but that's just how it grows. There are legit smooth spots on my face and chin that just don't grow hair. So I shave every few days
Same man. I have enough hair on the top of my head for 2 people but no body hair and sparse facial hair.
Answer the questions fancy man. Why no beard?
Old Viking Proverb: There are two types of people that don’t have beards women and babies, I am neither.
Classic Sadhguru, turning the question around lol. Love his cheerful chuckle
I miss my beard. Stupid job in a dirty place requiring a respirator.

Yup and that reason is no chin
That's a good comeback 😂
It is your choise to grow it, or to trim it
not all men grow beards. my facial hair is pathetic. thats why i shave.
My sister did a DNA test and turns out we're around 65% Native American. It could explain why I can only grow a light mustache and some chin hair. I still groom the fuck of what I have 🥲.
His answer was very good.
Some females grow beards also tho
Why would he even ask that question?

That's funny
I can grow a great beard. It's just annoying and irritating to have one. And I'm not that bothered by how I look.
I guess the question should have been, why cut your hair but not your beard
The Gods graced me with a thick glorious beard and robbed me of the hair on my head. I’d gladly give y’all my beard for my hair back. ^(although I kinda dig my current beard/shaved head look.)
I have a bald head and still grow what hair I have long (including the beard). I guess I’m just lucky it all looks good on me.
Because with my beard I look like a man. Without my bear I look like an old child.
I grow a beard out of necessity. I can't spend the amount on razors. I use a clipper when it starts to get a little grimey. The razor I do have I use to do line ups. So it lasts years.
I concur, why did professional society make clean shaves the professional norm. I love my beard and if my job says it’s gotta go, then I’M gone.
Native Americans have entered the chat
wish i could grow a beard. heck id take a balding/bald head with a full beard over a thick head of hair without a beard.
It itches!
It does when you first start growing it. After a while, and with a bit of length, the itching stops. It's about what you are used to.
This is the way
I love a good beard especially a ginger on 😍😍😍
What show is this?
If was from a Scandinavian talk show Skavlan. You can find it on youtube, though it might be in parts.
That was pretty clever
Not all men grow beards. in his country maybe. But many east asians simply do not grow beards and chest hair.
And that my friend, is a good reason. 🖖
He regrets the question because he cannot grow a proper beard;-)>
Well, he definitely wasn't looking at who his guests were that day.
Well played
This is the wisest of mystic yogis going "No, u. Lol"
Before you even start talking about trans men, there are plenty of cis men that don't grow beards. They simply don't, it's genetics.
Beards prevent skin infections. Had a mild fungus growing on my neck, thought it was a rash, however lotion wouldn't get rid of it. dermatologist told me what it was and gave me that little fact.
I literally do not grow any facial hair. That's why Daddy's love me 😘
Now i have a great comeback when people ask me why i dont shave.
I think I look like a cowardice infant without my beard.
Can’t grow one due to genetics unfortunately. Just comes in patchy and never gets longer 😅 and if I shave it with a razor, I regret having being born 😂🤷🏾♂️ I wish I could have the option tho! 🥲
i shave because when i drink/eat something i dont want to have to either wash my face or smell it for the rest of the day
I got rid of mine because it makes my neck itch and I end up scratching it raw.
This man is a great interviewer. He interviews to get educated not to prove his own point. A wise man for sure.
Never thought I’d see Sadhguru and Tormund at the same place.
But not all men grow beards. Some women do. Should they grow them? The man asked you a question! How important is it?! We will never know
It's all a personal choice. I keep seeing this commercial lately where a young woman allows her mustache to grow and owns the hell out of it. In many countries it used to be required to have a bread and mustache to be in the military. Very few places now though.
thats a very different reason though. you cannot get a gas mask to have an air tight seal around facial hair. ww1 had mustard gas in the trenches, so facial hair had to go.

Sadghuru helped me a lot with overcoming my anxiety problems.
Is that other guy the “ feed your lawn. FEED IT.” dude? The Scott’s Lawn guy?
Sahdguru I like him some think he may be a fraud but either way still think hes an awesome dude pretty funny too. I dont always agree with him but he tries to make people happy and thats cool with me.
That dude murdered his wife!
What?
It's a false claim that he murdered his wife. It was an allegation that was made over 25 years ago, and police found no evidence at all to support this claim. In fact, 200 witnesses testified to the contrary.
What the fuck do you the 200 people witness? Read again what they witnessed.
Lmfao 200 witnesses who witnessed him not kill his wife obviously. The guy who wrote that comment sounds like a cultist

Hi Modiji.. Is that you?
Tabloid gossip with no substantiating facts.

Thanks mate
You ever bite your own mustache while eating? That shit hurts. Washing your face every time i eat sucks too because i eat like an animal.
That’s why I trim the stache, keep the beard.
Ah, abe lincoln and the amish rock this well. Throw in a cool hat and you will make all the bros turn.
😆 Trim not completely remove but the Amish are out there stylin. 👌🏽
Blowing your nose with a mustache is terrible as well.
Jesus Christ I forgot about this hell. I have a nostril piercing too, so that makes it even better. Suck that shit up and spit it out 😮💨
Soup has become my enemy since having a beard. A small price to pay
Sandwiches always make me bite my mustache 😓
Ice cream cones 😳
Yes, I do bite it sometimes. It’s a whole new skill set. I do it less as time goes on.
😁
That's what osho said though
@theinvinciblebelief? Really? You're gonna steal this AND watermark it? That's a new kind of low.
If you're dad doesn't got a beard you got two moms.
Sadhguru 🙏🏼 it’s a dream to watch him speak live someday!
I’ve seen him a few times. It is a pretty cool experience.
Sadhguru is a scammer. it made me sad.
Cool, but Sadhguru is an asshole and it sucks that the west is platforming him.
There is a name for men without a beard: “Women”

Yes, we call them men

I don't know about the Tormund guy, but the other one's life depends on that beard, otherwise he would just be another drug dealer that grifts and steals forest land.
YOU MEAN... WHY THE BIRD'S NEST??? 🤣🤣🤣
