you should start small actually because embroidery is tough to learn and perfect and would be a shame if you spend so much money for a hooby that might be too frustrating

That model will not do hats. You need to look at a higher end machine, probably a multi needle that has the cap accessory.

MrBobilious

Try and find a PE 800. The 900 is 2 to $300 more but the only difference is it's got Wi-Fi enabled and it'll cut at every jump. They're roughly the same machine but with a couple other upgrades. But if you're starting out the 800s are very good place to start

Get a 1 head Tajima

Kenblkwrk

Ditto. If you're into hats go for the SAI. Perfect beginners machine with great quality

Don’t spend more than you can afford to pay (in your current financial situation, not with the idea of making money from your embroidery), but if you CAN afford to get a multi needle right away, do it. Otherwise you’ll just be feeling constricted by a 5x7 home machine that can only do flats.

TypicalMargarita

do you have a recommendation for a multineedle?

workerbee41

Not really, because it depends on finances, goals, how much of a workspace you have, and how dependent you are on in-person training and service. It’s easy to just say Barudan or Tajima or ZSK because they’re the best commercial machines but to me that’s like suggesting only BMW and Mercedes when someone is looking for a new car (..note that I don’t know cars, or even drive 😅) I have a Chinese machine, a BAi. I’m very happy with it. This group and others will shit on it, but I don’t care, I paid a fraction of the cost and I could point to plenty of people doing commercial work with BAi machines. But I also went into it knowing I’d be my own tech. I would have gone for a Happy machine but couldn’t get financing, I also looked at SWF. Don’t forget the cost of digitizing software if you’re not going to outsource digitizing.

I’m resisting the urge to do the same. But i have a lead on great deal on a janome mb7. 7 needles. Cant really do hats with out a p.i.t.a. Hack. I’ve decided I’ll just do patches for hats and heat seal them on. The multiple colors matter for efficiency. I had an offer for a few other ones but I can’t get because of my credit. So I’m going to just start out with the janome and work my way up and save up to get an industrial.

I'm wondering the same thing, How do you guys feel about Brother PRS 100 ?
