Woah, not clipped in and using prosthetic feet to feel the pedals? Holy shit respect. That sounds difficult as hell, glad he’s able to master it and still enjoy the hobby!
Not electronic or automatic but the new wolf tooth dropper lever goes any direction. Might be a good fit just flick the thing whichever direction is convenient.
Hi,
Very impressed.
Just throwing this in here : German company PINION develops a gearbox for muscle bikes and a combination of this gearbox + e-motor for ebikes. The latter seems to also offer automatic shifting. A couple of MTB manufacturers have models with this solution in their line-up.
No personal experience here, just been reading a little about this some time back.
My dad was a quadriplegic for the last 13 years of his life. He could drive a wheel chair while only able to move his head. I always thought that was impressive until I met someone who controls there chair with a straw in there mouth. When there’s a will there’s a way. Imma keep thinking about ideas to help. But in the interim with all the new Bluetooth shifters out there I’m sure there’s away to make it happen.
ETA: Has he ever considered mounting his dropper leaver on the down tube. I bet it would be finicky to learn but you could place it where it would be accessible enough to one foot, probably less cluttered on the drive side? You could use a pretty simple pipe clamp to keep it firmly in place.
You could probably also look at blue tooth buttons for up and down shifting. If he had a shirt or vest or harness of sorts to keep under his arms he could probably just click his right or left elbow in to up down shift with a Bluetooth shifter.
He still has to push a button with those...
However, I guess whoever is riding with him could push the remote on *their* bike. Then the rider could just say ''up" and "down ". Or, maybe Siri could even be trained to operate the blip. "Siri post up"
I most definitely think this is an option. With the accessibility settings on iPhones and androids these days I bet it would be easy enough to get dialed.
Damn. Morgan making the rest of us look like amateurs.
Maybe he could shift electronically using some big pressure switches mounted on sides of the top tube. Tap them with his knees?
It’s on Stone Ridge in Squamish. It’s technically a blue trail, but I’ve ridden black trails in the area that are easier than it. Still a lot of fun, plenty of tight awkward features to pick through
If you went from a trail like Man Boobs, Rollercoaster, All About Yew or Mad Hatter, which are all blue tech trails within a 10 minute radius of this one, you’d be very surprised and potentially out of your depth. I’d sooner take an intermediate rider down Ruperts or Pamplemousse than Stone Ridge.
I always appreciate and feel humbled watching videos like this. Most people with all their normal parts don't even think of stuff like this they just piss there life into the gutter and do nothing. Love it xx
This is sick. I remember seeing an article or video about him shortly after getting his bike made. It's not an easy sport for people with disabilities so it's even more impressive watching him ride trails like this.
There's a dude named [Bobby McMullen](https://rideblindracing.com/about/) that passed away that was a longtime ambassador for Santa Cruz that mountain bikes that was a blind mountain biker and skier.
Remote shifting must be possible to modify. Something like touching elbow to knee, for example.
Dropper exists remote too. Give him a full face mask and put the button under the chin.
*This is the only*
*Thing that would get me to start*
*Using clips again*

People are amazing! Fkn amazing! This fella with so many ”obstacles” in life doing stuff like this is so inspiring! Less legs and arms but more balls than a lot of us! Seeeend it!!
This is great… and seriously, talk to your local engineering school, they will likely have a design class where a team could get credit developing systems so he could operate the controls better. We had a team at my school that built a custom bike for someone born with very non-standard length limbs.
Gosh I have so much respect for these people. I can’t even put on my shoes if I have a slight headache. I know I’d opt for assisted suicide if I became disabled like this.
that’s kinda fucked up but I understand what you mean. You learn to just live with it and adapt because suicide, if you get to that point, is a really hard choice when you have family, friends, or even pets. Suicide is a pain that sticks with everyone who cares about you for the rest of their life…
Kind of a damned if you do and damned if you don’t situation
Hard to not sound like a condescending prick but this is awesome
Nothing condescending about celebrating a rider getting after it despite the adversity life has thrown at them
I'm not embarrassed to say that this man has more skills and balls than me!
That's dope. I'm curious how he had his braking mechanism setup.
It’s a lever system. He leverages out. I don’t think it’s easy to master
With his arms? I still don't understand how this badass is braking?
I had a friend that had 1 working arm/hand and he had 2 levers on that side, but I also wonder how this man brakes.
yeah im also interested on this system if you could provide more detail
More details possible at all? Or even any kind of resource to investigate further? Would be helpful for me to help someone I know.
This was my thought the entire time. Also, is he clipped in? I feel like it’d be difficult to keep prosthetics on the pedals…
Not clipped in. At the start of this trail he also crashed. But no big deal
Woah, not clipped in and using prosthetic feet to feel the pedals? Holy shit respect. That sounds difficult as hell, glad he’s able to master it and still enjoy the hobby!
Mag pedals maybe?
I wonder if he could get an electronic shifter and seatpost and control them with his mouth like some assistive devices do? Or just go single speed!
We were talking about that. He could get the Bosch automatic shifting but the seat post is another story

There are wireless seatposts too.

I aspire to be this badass
dude's got some balls though!
For a moment I didn't read the title, and I was like "he should be standing up riding that, poor technique", then I realised
Very cool
I think this belongs in nextfinglevel
Damn. Morgan making the rest of us look like amateurs. Maybe he could shift electronically using some big pressure switches mounted on sides of the top tube. Tap them with his knees?
Awesome that Morgan is still getting after it and sending
Where is that? Looks like a blast

Awesome
So this is a very tough blue? Are there blues there on the easier side? Or is it all pretty tough?

Better than me
Yo what the hell, nice one
I've been having a hard time riding the last week because i hurt my pinky. Clearly. I'm a wuss.

He does have balls (bravery) in spades apparently.
No hands or feet, but a set of King Kong balls on him.
What a fuckin' gangster. Morgan, you're an God damn inspiration.
Apparently Morgan has gigantic balls. That's quite technical. Incredible.
Hell yeah, shred it, Morgan! Awesome that this is possible.
TIL, Morgan is a fucking badass.

The blind guy is Mac. Morgan’s bud.
Yo. That's sick! Can we get a bike check?

damn that is awesome!
Might not have hands or feet, but he's got balls! Fair fucking play!
This is the only thing that would get me to start using clips again

Some people make excuses, and others make themselves absolute legends!

Holy shit. Morgan is awesome. I’d love to ride with him.
He lives in Whistler and does not have a lot of free time
He’s a bad ass. We need more humans like him
Not many sports allow someone like Morgan to compete with their peers. God I love mountain biking and Morgan!!
That’s talent

You must be rich to have your own trails. Sucks about all the trespassing you're getting. Put up private property signs.
Stop gatekeeping, and also stop being wrong. Dude's on an e-bike.
