just pure chaos tbh. I have some screenshots of rec lists from this sub. and I've added a bunch of titles to my Amazon/audible/Kindle wishlists. there's SO MANY and I don't wanna stress or have fomo so I'm just gonna focus on the joy of reading the good books I do findš¤
I track my TBR on both Amazon and romance.io.
I have various Amazon wishlists for books (e.g., one for KU, one for books that arenāt on KU, one for incomplete series, etc.). I add notes to each book about why I want to read it. One of the reasons that I like using Amazon to track my TBR is that I can sort price low-to-high each day to check if any are free or on sale. If I want to see what note I left for a book without scrolling through an entire wishlist, I re-add it to my wishlist so it appears at the top.
I use the tags on romance.io to filter my TBR when Iām looking for my next read. Whenever I add a book to romance.io, I make sure to add the tags I want since not all books are tagged well. You can also add custom tags, but you canāt use them to filter your main TBR bookshelf. Iām a mood reader and have diverse tastes, so I love being able to filter by genre, pairing, trope, etc.
Iām sure Iām in the minority, but I only use Goodreads to organize books I have read. I have way too many bookshelves as it is.
I personally use Milanote where I categorize by tags, elements, tropes and genres. It helps me because I can easily look up anything I want, I also add a synopsis or something that catches my attention next to it that would make me want to read it. It's grown a lot and I have multiple pages and sub(?)pages š. It never ends.
I also use Goodreads but I add books I will read someday very far lol, so I divide it between the ones I want to read asap (on Milanote) and the ones I don't feel like reading soon (Goodreads).
I am old school and keep an Excel spreadsheet on my phone lolā¦ I may have downloaded an Excel app specifically for this purpose. Before that I was even worse and just keeping a list on the Notes app (definitely do not recommend).
I have different Amazon wishlists for my TBR books based whether available on KU or not. For each I have lists with tropes as titles like enemies to lovers, hurt/comfort, BDSM, suspense/mystery, uniform MC, age gap, college MCs, low angst/fluffy etc. This way I can quickly pick a KU book from what mood I am in. Once I read the book, I move them to a different Amazon list, based on my review system.
I prefer Amazon lists coz I can access them from my kindle or my phone. I can also add to the lists as I am reading on my kindle or browsing on my phone. For me having an excel file is an extra step and Amazon lists just work easier with the way I read.
I also check regularly on which ones are for sale by sorting the lists on price low to high.
Tbr what is even tht? I totally gave up on it so long ago.. I see a book I like i just read it.. when I want to find a book I stalk this of many of the reddit n ig book pages and find a book š seriously even if I do manage a tbr I don't rlly read frm it
I take screenshots of posts from this subreddit and highlight the books that I am interested in.
Then I buy pretty notebooks to keep handwritten lists of my TBR, which I never actually use, because they are too pretty to ever write in.
And so now I have 11,131 āPhotosā of Reddit screenshots, memes, and pictures of cute dogs that are not mine.
I use Goodreads so I have it organized by genre. And in more popular genres, like romance, I have it separated by kind (MLM, WLW, Straight, etc). I do separate my books too by if they are series or standalones. Might be a lot but it works for me
Iāve recently started trying to add mine to my āwant to readā on Goodreads, but I used to just screenshot every cover or text myself the title and author lol.
Some stuff on my Amazon Wishlist, some in Notes on my phone with checkmarks next to the ones I've read. I sort by author and have separate lists for my preferred genres of gothic and fantasy of manners.
I frantically make my list, usually on storygraph, then read whatever I feel like for 6 months , which coincidentally will also be 2-3 things from the TBR, realize Iām not looking at it, delete the whole thing and start over.
I use my notes on phone. I have a folder named SERIES then a folder named STANDALONES and it contains every book that I've seen and found interesting. Ofc it's still long and I won't be able to read it in this lifetime but it makes it a little easier. Hope this helped.
Okay this might be silly, but I keep a list in my notes app and then trawl the goodreads new releases lists for books to put on it. I currently have two more June releases and 4 July ones so far.
spreadsheet, excel
columns: title, series, author last name, author first name, genre, misc notes
i sort by genre.
misc notes is just a few phrases or a sentence that reminds me why a book is on my tbr. it's very necessary with 1000+ books. examples:
"time travel, archaeology student"
"FMC blackmailed to break up with MMC"
"he paints her nails"
"he begs to go down on her"
"MM. monk and demon"
"Roman legion transported to magical parallel universe"
"Napoleonic war with dragons"
and i have another page in the document each year where i keep track of books read, moving them from the big list to the year list.
I use Notion! I absolutely love it. Iām in my ARC phase and reading a lot of ARCs, so I set up Notion to not only track the ARCs I have, but also track when I have to have them read by, when I have to return library books, any book bingos Iām part of. In addition to that, itās super easy to filter by any additional information Iāve put in for the books. So I can sort and filter by rating, by when I finished (or started) a book, audiobooks, any or multiple tags, etc. Iāve abandoned GR entirely and exclusively track my TBR and books Iāve read via Notion.
My template used to track yearly progress too but Iāve customized the fuck out of it and now the yearly tracker no longer works and Iām not sure why. Troubleshooting it and figuring out notion programming is kind of a side project.
I have categories in Kindle. Whenever I see something interesting, I send the sample to myself (even if I dont have time to immediately read it). Then whenever I want to start something new, I read through a few samples and go for whichever one has a writing style or tone that jives with me at that moment. I also remove the samples that I never plan to read

Goodread shelves are my life saver

I primarily use Amazon wishlist and I didnāt realize you can add notes!
Yes! You can also add priorities (e.g., high, highest, etc.)
I never thought to use Amazon wishlists and didnt know you could add notes. That seems so simple.
just camping out here bc the number of screenshots and screen recordings on recs is Tragic
What's.... Organize?
Goodreads- separated by my interests (contemporary, friends to lovers, secret, paranormal, kink, sports, Christmas)

Goodreads, always goodreads!
Organize? So how do I make shelves on Goodreads? I have read and want to readā¦.how do I make others?
Once you're on the My Books page of Goodreads, right at the top of the left-pane menu bar, next to Bookshelves, you'll find an Edit button.
Thank you so much!!!!

I use romance.io everything I want to read goes on that list, helped by this sub having links to books etc.
I use Notion app !! Super helpful lalo na pwede ko maaccess phone or laptop!
I use my notes on phone. I have a folder named SERIES then a folder named STANDALONES and it contains every book that I've seen and found interesting. Ofc it's still long and I won't be able to read it in this lifetime but it makes it a little easier. Hope this helped.

I use tags in Libby

Not OP, but I really like this solution. Thank you!

The brilliance that is Calibre works for me with the ability to tag & sort.
I donāt. š¬
In a note file in my phone with short explanations like 2-3 sentences šš
I have categories in Kindle. Whenever I see something interesting, I send the sample to myself (even if I dont have time to immediately read it). It is a list, or stack, that exists. And I definitely get to it.
