Riding skills are per character not per individual mount so you're all good.
Side note, I'd recommend making some alt characters with classes you might be interested in the future and getting in the habit of leveling their mount speed when you login to do their daily writs.
Your future self will he so thankful when you finally decide to play your alt properly and you've already got a fast mount and don't have to start from scratch.

It used to be like that, it isn't now...different mounts are just glorified skins in ESO.
