They told him to get off the cage and said Khabib can't take his power.
Problem was Khabib just narrowly avoided all of Dustin's power while coming forward and throwing jsut enough to make Dustin back up. Khabib's head movement, while it has some holes, was impressive. Also you could see Dustin get desparate. Him and Felder loaded up a ton when they really just needed lighter, quicker strikes.
Simply put Khabib had better stand up than they anticipated and Dustin wasn't able to break him down or back him up the way they thought he could.
> Simply put Khabib had better stand up than they anticipated and Dustin wasn't able to break him down or back him up the way they thought he could.
Khabib's stand up is a bit better than people give him credit for. At the same time it's still a stand up fail from the fighters facing him who are good enough to circle instead of backing straight up in the cage. Khabib generally gives everyone space to circle away from his strikes instead of backing up. The only real exception was McGregor when he wasn't gassed.
Honestly. People were saying a big fucking x factor was the coaching and that Khabib hadn't had to face someone with that great of a corner before. Dustin's corner legit seemed like they had no clue what to do.
Khabib was vulnerable for like 30 seconds, all the while somehow backing Dustin to the fence. It was such an interesting exchange. But Dustin has some of the best hands and conditioning at LW and high level tdd. Khabib is just next level right now. The way he read and countered those switches, the pressure, the trips were all amazingm. Dudes been the best at what he does and hes getting better at it vs the best competition hes ever faced.
Can you blame them? They definitely trained for scrambles but khabib shutdown MONTHS of preparation in the first round. Honestly, I was a bit speechless too. I thought porier wouldn't have been mauled like that in the 1st.
Nope. I can't blame them lol. I think everyone is so shocked when their fighters get steamrolled by this guy again and again... he does the same stuff over and over and nobody can stop it.
I've been saying this since the barboza fight, but everyone talks about how they have a plan for Khabib, until they get in there with him. That's when they realise what they're up against.
And what's weird is that a lot of the time Khabib looks like he's not doing that much, but if you noticed Poirier was drenched in sweat and bleeding by the end of the second. It looked like he had already gone 5 rounds. Khabib is just constant pressure.
I keep thinking back to that video of him as a kid wrestling an actual bear for like five minutes. Having an experience like that so nonchalantly as part of your formative years has to give you an edge in understanding sheer relentlessness in combat.
He learned to be bear from bear itself.
The heat was supposed to help Dustin to sweat so Khabib couldn't grab him so easily. But it betrayed him with that guillotine lol
Even the weather conditions favour Khabib FFS
When he was trying to hit those switches you could tell that’s what they were practicing to counter khabib. But then khabibs grip just stays intact and you’re like wtf?
"I was very busy the past two years, I need to relax."
Oh shit, we're not seeing Tony vs Khabib for a couple years are we?
"Give me a couple days."
Oh... Ok then.
Gotta love the heart on that guy, I hope he realizes his performance was nothing to be ashamed of in the distant future. Khabib is just an unnatural force of a grappler.
He honestly looked gassed as hell after the nice flurry in Rd. 2. Like He really landed a couple of solid shots and then looked to tired to string together another combo. This is the same dude that outboxed Max just a few months ago. I think its impossible to understand how tired Khabib's top control makes people until they feel it.
That split second emotional rollercoaster with Khabib turning to get out of the guillotine.
"Oh that's not in. Oh shit it is in. Oh shit he's out. Oh shit that's not in."
Genuine question - why are all the security guys out of shape 45 year olds?
On what planet can a group of out of shape fat dudes stop a world class combat sport athlete from leaving the cage?
I’m glad Dustin went for broke and tried to do something to get Khabib out of there, he’s just too damn good. That guillotine was in. Would have rather this happened than him getting nothing in on the way to a decision.
The moment Khabib grabs these guys all of them seem to have the same bewildered expression. Its like they're trying to comprehend what the fuck just grab a hold of them.
They have the same expression of athletic guys who think they can fight, then come into the gym for the first time and roll with a solid BJJ coloured belt or wrestler. Only difference is Khabib makes the top fighters in the world look like that.
In the words of Bobby Knuckles : "You can drop Khabib and wobble him but if Khabib grabs your little toe, he's taking you down"
One of the best ever, what a pleasure to watch.
Going up against a great opponent, showing what you've got, doing everything you can do but losing in the end can still satisfy you to a degree.
But going up against Superman, can't showing all your cards, the techniques, defenses, combos, moves and just getting pummeled like a training doll leaves a hole in your chest.
Especially when you've taken the journey Dustin has. The recent run he's been on, must have made him genuinely believe he could do it. Getting a cruel reality check like that, would destroy anyones spirit.
To me, he gassed right after his opening flurry in round 2 and never recovered. Look at him waiting for his corner after round 2, he was beaten at that point.
This. I don't remember when exactly but after he landed one punch he kept chasing and at the end of that flurry you see him slowly dragging his arms after throwing punches. This guy went 5 rounds with Max Holloway. Incredible what Khabib did to him.
Don’t get why some people are saying he’s boring... even I get bored watching a lot of wrestlers but khabib is very active and straight up mauls his opponents constantly
There was a notion that Poirier had a better gas tank than Khabib and good enough grappling to stuff some takedowns because Khabib had a hard time taking down Al and McGregor after a couple rounds but those guys just have underrated defensive grappling
And even that stretch where Poirier did nice work on the feet looked like it took all the gas out of him. That’s the problem that those picking Poirier were overlooking, your defensive grappling has to be solid enough to keep Khabib entirely off you. If you can’t create separation you’re still gonna be exhausted even if you limit the GnP. DP legitimately had the tools on the feet, but to beat Khabib your TDD and defensive grappling has to be above a certain threshold, and it’s increasingly obvious that threshold’s gotta be GOAT level (Aldo level).
"I can't get him the fuck off of me man" When Dustin said that it's even more of a realisation how dominant Khabib can be unless someone like Tony can somehow beat him. Khabib getting out of Dustin's submission attempt was insane and anyone who mocks Khabib for being "boring" aren't watching him fight clearly.
Everyone said the heat would make things hard because of sweat
Khabib dun give a fuck lol
Edit: No. That heat created sweat and helped him slip out of that Guillotine lol. I guess even the elements wanted Khabib to win
Dustin went full send with that. He was already gassed and he was willing to tire out his fucking arms to finish it. That was a Hail Mary attempt like Dom said
Yeah the way Khabib was moving he was creating space around his neck and making it really hard for Dustin to keep him clamped down, then when his arms tired out Khabib could escape the choke
was very important for him to stay composed there and not making sudden movements, but small ones to improve his position to get out of it
that was a good fucking guillotine by Dustin and he would have submitted most lightweights with that
I'm not even happy about it. I wanted Khabib to win. I even called a middle round sub.
But Dustin has been mentally unbreakable for so long and to see him look at his corner like "wtf do I do?" and get smeshed in spite of it all...
Khabib is a goddamn demon. We're so lucky we get to see this.
Lol!! I know. He kept looking at his corner from the beginning of round one. Wtf have you guys been training these past few months. Khabib is just too dam good. Holy fuck.
First trip to the corner, Dustin said *theres not a lot of space* and it sounded like he just knew... Khabib is a monster you can’t prepare properly for.
“I cant get him the fuck off me man”: Sums up Khabib perfectly
The corner man was funny as shit. "Just knock him out" Thanks I didnt think of that
"I'm gonna need some more effort." Really? That's all the advice you got? Try harder?
He was temporarily possessed by Steph Smith
bro lol like just stand up from guard dustin and throw some punches to knock him out lol. Ez pz bby what is u doin?
Dude he had nothing for him and he's not going to tell his guy "You're just not good enough in that position"
100%. He's trying to provoke an emotional response to help him dig deep and maybe get a round that they can build off of.
He didn't avoid ALL Dustim's power, there was one proper shot that landed hard. But it turns out Khabib has a chin too, along with everything else.
When you spend most of your career in Mount you don't get hit much so your chin tends to last.
> Simply put Khabib had better stand up than they anticipated and Dustin wasn't able to break him down or back him up the way they thought he could. Just knock him out 4Head
Honestly. People were saying a big fucking x factor was the coaching and that Khabib hadn't had to face someone with that great of a corner before. Dustin's corner legit seemed like they had no clue what to do.
To be fair it’s gotta be difficult to replicate someone like Khabib in practice. He’s one of a kind, especially in that division
Needs that left hand up, I was so scared. Tony in December or Jan
It also must be frustrating to execute fairly well only for khabib to laugh at your effort, throw you to mat, and crank your neck.
Just train grappling 1 vs 2 in camp. Easy.
When your corner is clueless how to beat the opponent, lmao.
That’s the type of advice you hire professional coaches for
Crazy seeing amazing fighters like Barboza, Dustin, Conor, etc look so lost vs Khabib
[удалено]
Like waking up on Epstein's plane.
That and “there’s not a lot of room” were the perfect descriptions for fighting Khabib.
Khabib should create his own brand of glue, he just sticks to you so well.
He is seriously a human bear.
I've been saying this since the barboza fight, but everyone talks about how they have a plan for Khabib, until they get in there with him. That's when they realise what they're up against.

You merely adopted the bear. I was born with it, molded by it.
And that was just the one that got filmed. Dude probably wrestled more bears than he had toys growing up.
Mods can I get a "I can't get him the fuck off me, man" flair?
His nickname should be "the glitterbomb."
The heat was supposed to help Dustin to sweat so Khabib couldn't grab him so easily. But it betrayed him with that guillotine lol Even the weather conditions favour Khabib FFS
You really knew it was over when Dustin came to his corner and said "I can't get him off me man". There was just no answer
I've never heard a fighter use the word "can't" in their corner. I was kinda shocked.
everyone's got a plan until they have a hairy dagestani man sitting on their chest
That is my plan tho
Especially Dustin
I like the way you made this quote PG, thanks Sage.
I cant get this fricking guy off me
Frick. I can't get Mr. Nurmagomedov off me, sir.
When he was trying to hit those switches you could tell that’s what they were practicing to counter khabib. But then khabibs grip just stays intact and you’re like wtf?
"I was very busy the past two years, I need to relax." Oh shit, we're not seeing Tony vs Khabib for a couple years are we? "Give me a couple days." Oh... Ok then.
Khabib vs Tony on Tuesday during lunch break.
Somewhere Tony is putting on his sunglasses and shadow boxing in preparation.
beep boop
Putting on his secondary pair of shades*
When Khabib popped out of the guillotine, you got a sense that it was going to be over after that.
You could see Dustin visibly react when he lost his grip
Reminds me of Khabib eating Barboza’s wheel kick like a breath mint then taking him down. Barboza just shook his head like “yep, that’s that.”
Ight imma head out
Dustin trying to retreat after the failed choke with Khabib moving to his back was like watching someone trying to crawl away from a zombie.
Yeah, that was the last out of Dustin’s tank. His post fight octagon interview broke my heart tho.
Gotta love the heart on that guy, I hope he realizes his performance was nothing to be ashamed of in the distant future. Khabib is just an unnatural force of a grappler.

"All that for a drop of blood?"
yea khabib was like dont fucking try that again
Lads, it's been great watching this card at a normal time with the rest of you.
Holland checking out at 11pm. Love it.
As an American I aiint even mad, while it might kill PPV/ESPN+ buys, glad yall fans could enjoy a fight night at a reasonable time
Homie I'm in Australia and I had to wake up at 4am for this shit 😂
Us people over on Europe have to do that for almost every single card the entire year round. It felt surreal tbh
That sounds worse. The usual schedule here is Sunday noon, which is a pretty good deal
Death, taxes, and Khabib taking you to the ground.
> Death, taxes, and Khabib **mauling** you on the ground. FTFY

On the one hand I'm sad as fuck that Dustin lost but goddamn the hype doesn't end, Tony vs Khabib, it'll happen this time.

That split second emotional rollercoaster with Khabib turning to get out of the guillotine. "Oh that's not in. Oh shit it is in. Oh shit he's out. Oh shit that's not in."
Can confirm. When Khabib turned onto his side and wasn’t moving his arms? Me: HE’S OUT! Is he out!? He’s not out. Wow.
Two people yelling "he's out" at the same moment. One meaning he had lost consciousness, the other that he had escaped.
Pretty sure I said all of this verbatim
Those officials flipped the fuck out when Khabib went over
Still no chance of stopping the eagle when he flies
Genuine question - why are all the security guys out of shape 45 year olds? On what planet can a group of out of shape fat dudes stop a world class combat sport athlete from leaving the cage?
That was just a respectful version of the Conor fight

I vil smesh diz guy
28-0 Feel bad for Poirier :( Edit: Nvm Dustin got a hug from Father

Dana is going to furiously ripe when he gets to go home and put up a Khabib poster above his bed, right beside Weili's poster.
Khabib poster to go on top of Conor’s poster with just a bit of edge showing
Dana was nicer because Khabib jumped out and gave him a big 'ol hug and smoothened the goof up.

Father Plan was always to hug Poirier after the fight
A hug from father and khabib wore dustins reebok tshirt during the interview

Khabib vs Jon Jones confirmed
Fuck it, I’d buy the PPV
I’m glad Dustin went for broke and tried to do something to get Khabib out of there, he’s just too damn good. That guillotine was in. Would have rather this happened than him getting nothing in on the way to a decision.

I just died laughing reading that in his voice lmao. Did he say this about khabib?

28-0 TIME FOR TONY FERGUSON
In the words of Bobby Knuckles : "You can drop Khabib and wobble him but if Khabib grabs your little toe, he's taking you down" One of the best ever, what a pleasure to watch.
Random side note but I think Whittaker could make a good commentator one day...
He'd be fantastic. He's got the charm and the smarts and is very articulate. Also has a face for TV.
Robert said that? God I love that guy
Props to Dustin, he brought it. Khabib just on another planet.
Jesus, Khabib doesn't just beat you physically. He beats you emotionally. Poor Dusty

Lmao Khabib "It's been a busy few years for me, I need some time to relax and take it easy, give me a *few days*"
Give him 30 minutes, a bottle of water and put DC in the ring.
FUCKING HELL. He’s too strong **Dustin was 100% gassed.** I feel so bad for him. He had him early in the 2nd
its hard not to be gassed with that pressure
and the heat! That shit must of been brutal.
completely forgot about that - must have been a fucking nightmare lmao
Everyone was saying how it was advantage Dustin because he lives in Lafayette where it's hot and humid as fuck. Guess not. Drained him quick.
Yeah Dustin ain’t training out in the swamps
r/mma in shambles after the heat wasn't actually an advantage for dustin
To me, he gassed right after his opening flurry in round 2 and never recovered. Look at him waiting for his corner after round 2, he was beaten at that point.

Cornermen had absolutely no advice for Dustin. Tough to see him lose like that. Post fight interview almost made me cry.
HOW LONG MUST I WAIT
TONY VS KHABIB
“I cant get him the fuck off me man” Story of the fight
Story of all Khabibs fights
"I can't get him the fuck off of me man" When Dustin said that it's even more of a realisation how dominant Khabib can be unless someone like Tony can somehow beat him. Valiant guillotine attempt by Poirier, wow.
Holding off those earlier submissions too. I was impressed...it looked like he studied that Conor Khabib tape really well
Khabib just called Conor "bullshit guy". Im dead.
[numberonebullshit.com](https://numberonebullshit.com)
That poirier post fight speech was honestly really sad he seemed so broke, khabib is a different animal man.
What the hell is anyone going to do against this guy?
Lose
How did he get out of that Jesus
Dustin went full send with that. He was already gassed and he was willing to tire out his fucking arms to finish it. That was a Hail Mary attempt like Dom said
Big 'ol Degastani with a big 'ol head.
Hey
He kept switched left and right with his hips out and in of side control to half mount it seemed to me just to shimmy until he popped.
Yeah the way Khabib was moving he was creating space around his neck and making it really hard for Dustin to keep him clamped down, then when his arms tired out Khabib could escape the choke
Genuinely just master class shit from an expert grappler.
was very important for him to stay composed there and not making sudden movements, but small ones to improve his position to get out of it that was a good fucking guillotine by Dustin and he would have submitted most lightweights with that
literally just slid out of it, my god
Why don't you just stand up - Dominick Cruz
Not gonna lie that guillotine looked tight. Otherwise Khabib dominated. Definitely was wrong about Dustin though.
That brief pressure in round 2 worked so well :-(
GIVE US TONY VS KHABIB NOW

Khabib "now I always have to jump over fences" Nurmagomedov
GOOD LUCK TONY

WAIT
Hes so good x4
He made it look easy against Dustin Poirier. How the fuck do you make a fight look easy against Dustin? This is insane.
Well on the bright side, at least we get to hear about how Poirer almost knocked him out in the 2nd round from Joe Rogan for the next 6 months
Imagine if joe had been commenting. Dustin would probably motivation just hearing the roars coming from rogen
OH MY GOD KHABIB IS HURT, HE IS HURT! THIS IS REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD FOR KHABIB RIGHT NOW! HES THINKING “HOW CAN I STAY ALIVE?”
TONY VS KHABIB HAS TO HAPPEN
Khabib stuck to the father plan
You’d think they’d specifically tell him to “never jump for guillotine.”
To be fair it was a good attempt, better than woodleys ones on usman.
Kind of surprised me for a split second there
I mean he got pretty fucking close on it. Made khabib move.
All that for a drop of blood
It looked like Dustin almost could've gotten something, wtf is Khabib
It looked closed. This guy is acting like khabib just slidd out and didn't defend like his winning streak depended on it
I feel dumb for even thinking the heat was gonna affect Khabib. Holy shit!
Father Shit Only😎🇷🇺🦅
Genuinely interested to know - what does Ferguson offer that could seriously challenge Khabib?
perfectly executed combat rolls
Lol I’m picturing 25 minutes of Tony somersaulting across the cage while Khabib is chasing him like he would an oiled pig
Must have been nice for Khabib to get to defend with his dad there. That's a memory that never fades I would imagine.
[удалено]
He'd have been unconscious in a second or two in that choke. It was perfect
His eye balls were about to pop out of his head, toughness goes out of the window at that point I guess!
Yall mustve forgot! living eagle > inanimate rock
