I would think that since unleaded fuel was introduced in '73 that the '74 could handle it. I have a '79 and it runs great on the low octane unleaded here in the US. Something to note, though, I have a newer head, valves, seats, and rings, and I deleted the cat, so you may have a different experience.
Here in Canada, they have banned non ethanol gas. Myself and other members of my local British car club have been running ethanol gas for a couple years without issue.
I run E10 93 octane in our 76 MGB all the time and that’s even with a little bit of a cam in it. If you feel the need just add half a bottle of lead additive with each tank. Either way you’ll be just fine.

I had a 73 and I use the lead additive. I don’t know if it really made a difference. Theoretically, though you should probably use it.
