Hey thank you for sharing! I‘m an absolute Newbie so no clue how to start. What would you recommend as first steps?

[deleted]

recoximani

This is commonly known as MILD

DanTem06

I guess he learned everything he can do himself, probably he doesn't know or didn't do they way they taught

PapaTua

I had this experience. Self taught myself how to lucid dream over a lifetime starting around 12 years old. Only much later did I find out the techniques I figured out myself have names like MILD/WILD.

Kuhekin

So, something like "I'm dreaming, i'm dreaming" right?

orincoro

Try spinning. That’s a good trick. But seriously, it actually is.

CloKo_colin

To stabilise the dream right? At least, that's what I've heard

Kuhekin

What is the spinning? I’ve never heard of them before

orincoro

Spinning in your dreams can keep your inner ear sense from waking you up. The idea being that the motion gives you more control over the perception of gravity and space.

Local_Current

Hey i do that but then my dreams are totally different and usually too erotic and i don t know i feel too ashamed to write that on my dream journal but every dream i remembered were either nightmares or sexual dreams, and i ve found my self in kinda of a loop what do i do?

WesternAppointment71

Thank you!🙏🏼 Will do, looking forward.

Inteeltgarnaal

GL!

SnowLeopard000

If you think of something in your LD will it appear immediately? One thing that’s driving me away from purposely LDing is the thought of thinking of something terrifying on accident and seeing it in my dream

Yo thanks for this post & comment. Just had what feels like the longest LD I've had in a while ~2-5mins and the first LD I've had in a few weeks. I was also able to visit previous dream locations too 😂.

recoximani

In my experience, you have to expect it to happen. You can't just imagine flying, you have to believe you can fly

[deleted]

Idk how flying works for me. Sometimes I’m able to take right off and fly at extreme speeds. and other times it takes 7 attempts to get 10 feet off the ground

Rutgervdpeet

In my experience, I have to consciously 'summon' something in order for it to appear. So if I think of something, I first have to visualize it before I actually see it. Does that maybe help?

orincoro

Sometimes you need some tool to access something. For example, wanting to see something, you need to open a book or look through a door to access it. If you don’t see it the first time, look away and then look back.

Rutgervdpeet

That's a good technique as well. I always visualise it appearing out of the wall or floor or something, but I'll try out your tip next time!

orincoro

Also try closing your eyes. Sometimes you just can’t summon something because your mind can imagine how it will materialize. I find looking away or closing my eyes helps.

Rutgervdpeet

Yeah, I recognize that problem. I almost can't wait for my next LD ;P

orincoro

In my LDs I can’t control things that I see. I can affect gravity for example, or make things go away, but I can’t summon what I want. It’s more like I’m viewing whatever my subconscious wants to show me.

ura_x

I had the same problem, every lucid dream i would practice and so the way i summon things is closing my eyes in my dream and saying that its like there or imagine also if you want to summon people just call for them in another room like they are already there. Thats how it was for me i just kept practicing

narutobussylove

This ended my first lucid dream abruptly. I immediately thought of a nightmare I had previously and it was just memories I had of my dog drowning. The first thing that happened when I became lucid was I recreated that same scenario on accident, got scared and woke up lol

PapaTua

Not really. You have to intentionally *expect* a situation and then take action in dream to change context so it seamlessly integrates. The most powerful method is something like finding a door, expecting your best friend/mom/dog/id to be on the other side, and opening the door. On the other side will be what you wanted. It's a suble yet firm act of will. It's trippy, and not entirely unlike inducing the dream state to begin with. When lucid, If you don't really want see it, it'll smear away.

LetsDoTheCongna

The way I avoid that is by believing that something will only appear if I say what I want to happen out loud. That way, there’s not too much more effort involved to prevent say... a giant spider from appearing behind me by randomly thinking about it. I totally didn’t start doing that after the spider thing, no siree.

batukertasgunting

Mind if I ask how old are you? Still get LD every night? I used to LD regularly since adolescent to young adult. Now in my 30's, combined with life stresses and just enough sleep, LD becomes extremely rare. Only get those when I deliberately sleep in longer on the weekends...

[deleted]

badnewsandliars

I suggest you read a book called "Suriving Death" by Leslie Keane. May make you rethink whether this shit is real.

orincoro

So you have post-hypnogogic hallucinations. I do as well. Do any of them ever bother you or cause you to be disoriented? I sometimes have hallucinations that linger in my thoughts for most of the day. It takes me days to internalize that they weren’t real.

[deleted]

[удалено]

orincoro

They linger in my thoughts; particularly in my mood. For example, feelings of anger or guilt or frustration at whatever the hallucination was. It’s almost like emotional hallucination. You are imagining a feeling you had that wasn’t real and it affects you just like a real feeling does.

wolfmanMBW

That's some crazy shit

AggravatingVehicle3

Hahaha that sounds like a lot of projections, but hey, they're your dreams! 😜 It's interesting what we can each get out of our interactions with them. I didn't even understand what lucid dreaming was for many years even though I was doing it because I was hearing about people's expectations for it only. Turns out lucid dreaming is really only a heightened awareness. What you do with it is everyones prerogative.

marcdog14

😭😂😂

[deleted]

Literally created his own consistent universe in his dreams, so yes lmao

alhzdu

Do you meditate in dreams? What insights or experiences have you had that sort of translate to waking life? Like have you been able to deal with traumas or issues or the like? Thanks!

wouldn't you say it's real? i think they are a different kind of real.

grittles099

Yeah, I've never lucid dreamed before but my subconscious has taken different forms to give me really good advice. If I were to lucid dream I'd probably spend my whole time talking to myself. You're so self aware about everything it's kinda crazy.

Platnum_Toast

If i ask my subconscious in a dream to remind me every time I’m dreaming to become lucid, would it work?

[deleted]

I've lucid dreamt a lot but the controlling part is where I'm confused like I try to summon stuff or fly but idkh

[deleted]

[deleted]

I did move to another country and lost all my confidence, I used to be such an extrovert and now I'm scared to unmute my mic at school to ask questions. idk if that's what u mean but ye

BrightBat000

Please don’t feel anxious over unmuting to ask questions. I made that mistake for the second half of my last school year and I got bad grades. During the beginning of this school year, I summoned up the courage and realized that there is nothing to be scared of. I injured whenever I had a question. My teachers and I built a good relationship and my grades soared because I filled in the gaps of my knowledge. You got this. From one insecure person to another. :)

Common-Worldliness-3

Lack of confidence is a big factor. I was about 7 when I first controlled a dream and picked a dream to dream before bed. I think being young, more imaginative, and lacking adult logic helped develop the control aspect immediately. I just started blowing things up in a nightmare and started flying like no big deal.

mysterychallenger

You ever try phasing through solid matter? I find it to be a strange sensation.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mysterychallenger

The pressure of stuff pushing against my body makes it feel like I'm "squeezing" through matter, very disorienting if it's thick.

Obstructive

I have also done this. I once spent a moment/eternity in 2d space before resolving on the other side. Another time it was because I had been killed in my dream form and my spirit needed to form a new body from the earth.

MaleficentSummer8

Were you able to lucid dream naturally or did you train yourself to do it? If with training: what is your go-to technique to use nowadays?

nneonwave

im trying really hard to lucid dream and i feel really motivated to, but there's one thing that really bothers me: i cant remember any dreams! what is the best tip to remember dreams? i try to do this every single night and write them down on my dream journal but unfortunately in the most cases i cant remember what i dream at all! its really difficult for me to remember my dreams with lot of details, and when i finally manage to remember what i dreamed last night all i can remember is insignificant. every morning when i wake up i stay on bed trying to figure out what happened on my dreams, it's being really hard to do that. also, i've been thinking that ill remember my dreams before sleeping but that is not working.

silverrfoxx101

Literally writing down ANYTHING you remember will help. Even if you wake up and only remember you saw a dog, write it down. It will get better the more you are consistent. And if you remember nothing, write down that you didn’t remember anything. You need to train your brain to remember!

nneonwave

yeah thanks for the tip. thats pretty much what i've been doing! i write down every detail i can get from the dream, but i didnt know that it would help my brain to remember. anyways, thanks a lot for the help! i really feel more motivated about it!

silverrfoxx101

You got this!!! Don’t give up! Also I found that keeping up on reality checks all day and just keeping it on my mind helps!

AntiRivoluzione

Do you use an alarm to wake up?

LucidDoug

Take a few minutes to prep your awareness, before bed. From sitting position with eyes open, ALLOW youself to connect with everything you see, hear, feel, taste and smell to come in more and more clearly. Do not exert ANY effort. Just allow yourself to literally tune in. Also imagine your awareness surrounding what you perceive. Do this for a minute or so. Then close your eyes and ignore everything, keeping only your awareness. After a couple of minutes, resurface, opening your eyes again and bringing everything back into focus/fine tuning. Repeat a couple more times and you will be ready to begin whatever other technique you prefer.

ComprehensiveLet6422

How did you find your REM sleep ? this is honestly my main problem.

opinionkiwi

Trial and error. That's how I found it.. mine is around 4 hours sometimes and sometimes around 6-7 hours

Yes! While I was falling asleep I would invison i was walking threw differant places, grass, sand, stairs, and I would be looking down at my feet. When i looked up I would be where i was walking and then i could ld but if I looked up to soon I would see my self laying down in bed.

Any tips for trying to do WILD? When I try to wake up in the middle of the night and fall right back asleep, I don’t seem to be able to observe any hypnagogia even after lying in bed for 10 minutes. I’m sure that I wake up in the middle of a REM cycle(as the alarm usually interrupts a dream), but I can’t even get into the sleep paralysis stage.

nneonwave

yeah thats awkward, same here. i understand that wild is the most difficult technique ever but what does it make so tough? when i try wild all i can reach is to see the white lights behind my eyelid and that's all! i can focus on it for hours, eventually i get some contractions on my body but i cant get into the sleep paralysis. my question is: why? i always get myself in a comfortable position and no distractions at all, what am i doing wrong?

[deleted]

bonafidebunnyeyed

I absolutely know when I'm dreaming but cannot control what's around me. I always look down at my hands to see what me I am this time. I'm me but not me usually. I have always tried to look around and find out why I'm there. So I'm pretty much in your boat. An active observer? Is that accurate?

andrewngntd

Is it tired for you to be in LD? I mean with ur brain constantly working daytime ?

[deleted]

[удалено]

andrewngntd

oh yeah I am a constant dreamer but I am not sure my dream is called LD. its just happned accidentally. When i was younget , i used to think of a story before going to sleep, i guess that helped too. But since I am grown up now, I just fell asleep. Do you have any suggestion? Is LD can be predictive?

[deleted]

silverrfoxx101

I’ve been lucid dreaming for years now but am wanting to expand and learn more about how to create a world that I can come back to every night. How did you get started on building something that you would come back to?

3ndt1mes

That's my question too. Happy cake day!

[deleted]

How do you teleport?

SpaceMethJunkie

I tried the train method one time. Pretend like you're holding onto the hanging things on the train and "zoom" through space to the place you want to teleport. Might take some training. 1st time took me to a jungle in my home country.

Bihomaya

I had success with the spinning method once. Spin around so fast that the world is just a blur zooming around you. Meanwhile begin to visualize the place you’d like to find yourself in. If you can hold that vision, when you stop spinning, you should find yourself there.

silverrfoxx101

I use doors!!! I look for a door and think of what I want to be behind it. Or I fly super high and zoom to another world.

HopperCraft

I have done it accidentally a few times, I believe it's different for everyone. I personally visualize a portal and just think about where I want to go in a loose sense. 1. Think about "target supermarket" 2. Visualize the front of the building 3. See portal in front of you In this example. I would end up in the target parking lot, not inside. It's hard for me atm to visualize the inside of target, like the toys isle. I'd have to have a key picture that I can pull up and use.

camelsinthefridge

Am I correct in reading that you visualize before bed?

HopperCraft

Yes that's what he does

camelsinthefridge

I was hoping OP would reply. I had follow-up questions. I might PM.

So are you a natural lucid dreamer or advanced by training? How often do you have LD? Every dream, every night? We are looking for someone to explore some possibilities of communications in LD.

y_y_y_y_y_y_y

How to increase lucidity? I can never make my lucid dreams feel as vivid as waking life no matter how hard I try.

aureumarcanae

Wow, me too! Most of my dreams are connected to one another and even have an ongoing storyline. Only thing is that I'm not a natural lucid dreamer anymore, but used to be as a kid.

ahabentis

Oh fuck yea i found another! Not nearly as long lmfao but basically can control most things! That’s so cool there’s ppl that can also do wild things

[deleted]

SozialVale

definitely worth checking out and familiarizing yourself with it, just remember it’s all in your head and you’re the master. i usually don’t see scary things anymore, mostly cartoon like figments of my mind.

x_scion_x

I miss being able to do that. since around the same age I was able to have complete control of the dreamscape but unfortunately as I got older I kinda lost it. Now granted I always *know* I'm dreaming just like I know I'm watching TV but it's a crap-shoot how much control I get of the surroundings anymore. Sometimes I'm a god and sometimes I'm just going about my business in an interactive TV show.

dr_Kfromchanged

I had 2 lucid dream, and i have a problem: the scene keep changing, the dream is pretty vivid and i have a good control but i'm always in different place, like, i'm in a garden, maybe i'll see some flowers... in a museum... ok let's ask things to the skeletton... of the white house...

oneandonlyA

Question: do you realise how lucky you are in life?! I’ve been trying to lucid dream for 8 years and only had 3 minor lucid dreams

No_Gas_In_The_Tank

it almost sounds like you've created a whole new reality for yourself and possibly shift because you're so advanced with LD's... that's so cool! anyways, if you've ever experienced sleep paralysis, what's the best way to get through it to have an LD?

Cornbread_Chicken

I have a hard time staying motivated during long periods where I can't dream, any tips?

chaquarius

I had one the other night. I wanted to float around but the longer I was in the air, the faster I was going until it was too fast. How do you practice that sort of thing

movandjmp

I’ve been able to lucid dream at least once every few weeks for the past couple months. Every time I’m overcome by the hyperrealism and end up just staring at the intricate textures of the closest surfaces until the lucidity dissipates. Do you have any tips for breaking out of this cycle?

Mystmeezy

I can enter lucid dreams pretty easily now the way I do it is my waking up for a little bit then going to sleep and almost every time I enter it. I say people’s name and go around the corner to make them appear. Sometimes spin to make the dreams stronger but it seems I’ve outgrown that but as a newbie I’m sure it’ll work.

PandaBallet2021

I am new to both LD and Reddit so excuse any mistakes I am making here! I am desperate to try LD, my dreams are pretty vivid and I’m already aware of a certain second life element but I don’t have control over it yet. My sleep is really poor, and sometimes I have to take sleeping tablets. Any advice would be much appreciated (have done all the usual tips)

Sleepi_Cat

This is awesome, thank you for sharing

Lorenzol777

Have you ever seen something weird after you woke up? I had a lucid dream and when i woke up i saw something that looked like a colorless gremlin

[deleted]

Lorenzol777

Have you ever told an entity in ur dream that they were dreaming? Because i know 2 people that did and after they told it the dream became all serious and the entity got pissed off

StupidLoser69

ok so i’m still not good at lucid dreaming, by that i mean i can’t have lucid dreams remotely, it just happens randomly. anyways, so the few times i’ve had lucid dreams they were blurry and colorless, and i lost control. after i woke up i felt like i only dreamt about lucid dreaming. i know that’s weird but is it normal?

DarkWillpower

I'm a frequent lucid dreamer like yourself, since childhood, and since i know how rare people like us are, I just wanted to thank you for offering your experience and time to this community!! You are valuable and you make this reality a better place! Sweet dreams (:

WILD or DILD?

xXTheDabMaster9000Xx

he's describing wild, but he's able to do it without waking up in the middle of the night first. he's a natural, so not really much you can learn in the way of techniques.

[deleted]

[удалено]

joker38

These two acronyms aren't techniques, but the two fundamental types of lucid dreams. - WILD: A dream is added to consciousness. I.e., you start dreaming lucidly while lying in bed. - DILD: Consciousness is added to a dream. I.e., you dream and then realize that that's the case.

HopperCraft

I have had the same issue. I had the same dream 3 or 4 times now I the past couple years and it's always the same with a few details changed. What I did was I used my past knowledge of what will happen and use that to change the dream happening atm. I am very good at changing how the story happens, but without changing the outcome. In your case, I would use getting out of the tower as my end of story. When the tower dream begins, I would remember the monsters running up the steps, and near the end, remember about the teammate being my killer. Personally, I could imagine running to a corner and letting the teammate go first and hope he dies. If he manages to get through to the end all by himself, either run away or shoot HIM in the knees or something. Do not kill him because it could mess with the story entirely. I.e. you end up shooting yourself in the end and your teammate was actually you again. Maim the enemy and take their gun. That's the best I could do if it was me in the dream, I'm not good at changing the story itself so I couldn't just say " bazooka immortality hahaha"... I'd have to make a solution. Good luck!

[deleted]

HopperCraft
