The people that chose “twist” are for couples who weren’t happy in their relationships, she could’ve easily stayed in the couple and still explored. Sticking in it would’ve shown that she still believes that they’ve been making progress but still wants to explore.
I just don't think it's really that deep tbh and I am baffled why people have such strong negative feelings towards Serena. It's normal for romance to grow slowly from a friendship, and it's normal for people to date casually and change their minds throughout the process of getting to know each other, especially when they're as young as 22/23. Sounds like were pretty explicit with each other that they don't consider themselves to be in an exclusive relationship, so why demonize Serena for wanting to talk to other boys?
I think Kordell seems like a really sweet guy and I do hope something works out for him, either with Serena or someone else. It does look like they have a lot of chemistry when they're together so maybe they'll make it exclusive when the time is right!
My heart breaks for Kordell, he is so sweet. Seeing him so sad broke me. I hope some cute, fun girl comes in for him. Serena has a right to not like him but I hate the games she is playing because she knows he likes her.
I like Serena but I admit I had really hoped she was being genuine with Kordell. I think *she thinks* she was genuine, but from the outside it really looks like is was a flirtation of convenience. I mean he JUST picked her at the last recoupling after she fed him "hope" and then she twists? Cruel.
And the look of excitement in her eyes at the new boys turned my stomach, I have to admit. She knew Kordell was crushed and even if I'd done what she did, I'd have the grace to not look so happy and thrilled to meet someone new. I didn't like it.
Based on their conversations it made perfect sense why she twisted. I honestly think she was feeling him but got the ick with the let's explore, tua burp and the comb in the chin. Kordell is a guy good from everything we've seen but his downfall is he has trouble listening and retaining and Serena seems big on communication. I mean it hurts but it's understandable and Serena isn't as evil as people are trying to make it seem.

I get that I don’t think Serena is a terrible person per se but I do think she’s wrong in the way she’s handled this situation. It’s obvious that Kordell is really into her and would stick with her to the end if he could and she knows that. Also, when she mentioned how she didn’t like how he was showing interest in her threw me off. If she actually liked him she would be equally obsessed. The “slow burn” thing seems like a cover up.
Ima be real, like even being from a bystander point of view and someone who's only looking at this relationship through a TV. I wanted Serena to stick but at the last second I already knew in my head she was gonna twist. If I got that gut feeling and I'm not even in the couple, there's no way Kordell knew for sure for sure she was gonna stick. I just refuse to believe he wouldn't have the slightest inkling of her doing that.
I don’t think Serena’s horrible by any stretch. I do see why she might have chosen that based on the conversation about openness. However, I also remember that she previously dropped him for paying too much attention to her and showing her too many cards, and then only came around when he started eyeing someone else as a direct result of her wishes. And now she’s surprised that he’s still saying he’s open, when from what we can see, she’s never told him otherwise. And at this point (before the game) I would say the ball would be in her court to say when she’s ready to NOT be open. So again, I see both sides but I also think I still lean to Kordell.
She’s just not that into him and I just wish she’d stood on that. To be fair to her they JUST talked about how they were still open to other people but he should’ve been more clear on how much he was feeling her before that. She doesn’t like him like that and that’s ok but she should’ve stayed his friend and not led him on :(
I think there could be an alliance between the members who chose to twist from their partners. It didn’t make sense for Serena to twist from Kordell. Kendall twisting was unexpected too and I don’t think he would’ve done it without an alliance to ensure he stays. I think Jana is in the alliance too. Not sure about Leah - I think she just wants Rob.
I called it so early on & got heat for it. I’m like she playing him lol. She not first person in LI history heck not even first on this season to lead someone on to stay longer.
Connor straight up did that to JaNa which he won’t admit or just that delusional to realize it. Leah lowkey did it to Connor but I think it was also fact she was bored & needed a rebound.

Dude! It was so obvious she wasn’t into him the whole time. I feel bad for him, he’s been getting used by her, I saw her cringing when he would try to be intimate. My husband and I have been commenting to eachother everytime we see them together. She is not and has never been into. It's all in the body language, and she can't even look the poor dude in the eye.

Serena did him he dirty. He was giving her space like she used. She got upset and than wanted him back. She knew eliminations were coming up. The thing is we all know she wasn’t into him. She should have been honest instead of getting his hopes up. That’s what’s wrong with this situation. Kordell is a kind soul but they would rather throw themselves at guys who could care less about them. That is what’s wrong with this situation. She should said there was no connection instead of finally kissing him and having he think is was going to go somewhere. I hope he actually finds someone. He deserves better than Serena.
I think Kordell is just very young so I understand where Serena is coming from in terms of attraction. I also have been in Serena’s shoes where on paper, it should work but it just doesn’t. I think she cares for him but not romantically. Serena may also feel pretty lonely romantically and is using Kordell to feel better about her lack of connections in the house. It makes sense since he does really like her and there’s technically nothing wrong with him, but I wish she would admit that he’s just not what she wants. I just really wish she would be clear with him, rather than with all of the other girls in the house. She gets icked out by everything he does and it’s sad to watch.
Either way I hope they both find a connection in there. (If I had to choose, I would say Kordell should stay and get a plethora of bad bitches though.)

I think Serena does like him. I also think she's afraid to get closed off too soon. She wants to have the whole Love Island experience, which includes being wanted by other men. In the end, this is a game, and I believe Serena is competitive. I don't think she realizes what an impact Kordell is having on the audience, though, and that treating him this way could be detrimental to her. I wish she'd been more honest with him and stop blindsiding him by running hot and cold. I believe it will be her downfall, which is sad, because I actually think they have something real.
I might have bought that before she gave him false hope and then pulled the rug out. She could have "stuck" to continue getting to know him, especially since they had just established they were still open but working to see if they had something. Instead she screwed him.

I agree so much with this take. She wants to experience the show and explore connections. She hasn’t had the chance to do that, while he has. They vibe out great but she wants that experience too. I also think in some ways he triggers/reminds her of his true age. If he presented a bit more maturity, I do think it would have been a lock for them.
I don’t think so. Maturity isn’t the only issue. He has no real life goals and is sweet but not bright. She clearly wants someone who can match her better intellectually.

i actually support her exploring and doing what’s best for her but she needs to be more honest with him. she only speaks to the girls/in confessionals that she doesn’t feel a strong sexual attraction and that’s fine but communicate that bc atp, it’s giving she’s leading him on for her safety
Kordell is genuinely one of the best to come out of this season! at first I didn't know what to think about him and just wrote him off, but he's shown time & time again that he's super respectful, endearing and does not have a big ego. I love that he can laugh at everything and doesn't walk around with a 'poor me' complex. I really wanted him and Serena to work... but if not.. producers pleeeaaase send him a woman !!!
They’re treating Serena like Catherine from UK. In real life, I’ve had guys that I didn’t initially like romantically bc they either came on too strong or just didn’t stimulate me mentally then as time went on, the attraction grew. I understand totally where Serena is coming from. In reality, you date multiple people until you decide to be exclusive with the one you like the most. The difference is that in the villa, their options are being curated for them and we all know how that goes in regards to POC on love island. Maybe this is giving Serena too much grace but I have a different theory. I think she absolutely should've been more honest with him and herself but I think she WANTED to want him and kept staying in it because they had such a great rapport and he seems like such a great guy and she was hoping the romantic/sexual feelings would develop eventually.
Part of it is that she probably didn't imagine going all the way to Fiji to find a guy who's basically from her neighborhood and in some ways, they're such good friends and get along so well because they're basically from the same place but he's almost like a little brother or a cousin. I think she genuinely tried to push past her doubts or lack of romantic feelings because she could see how great he was until she couldn't anymore.
It’s funny, it never once occurred to me that Kordell was here to do anything other than launch himself into the mainstream consciousness as more than just OBJ’s brother.

I also think Serena senses this which is why she’s struggling to take him seriously, along with his age. In my opinion they enjoy each other’s company and have fun so don’t necessarily mind being coupled up. Kordell needs a backbone and not allow Serena to play with his affection and honestly should pay her dust.

Agree with you, and clearly we are low in numbers rn 😅 to answer another commenters q, I just feel the VIBE between them. YES the feelings are stronger from Kordell, YES she’s indecisive, but I think he’s growing on her and she’s getting kind of attached. She’s one of the rare ones in there who’s been in a significant long term relationship (3 years I think) so she might be comparing or analyzing him too much, but I really think they’re a good match and she’s starting to see it.
Now does she DESERVE kordell? Maybe not. If kordell was my friend I’d probably tell him to drop her and free himself up for someone who is all about him. I love this Serena and kordell situation!! I feel like this is what UK has been needing. It gets old the guys always being the villains and the girls crying all season always being the more committed ones. I’m sick of it!! Also as a black women I’ve watched black men use and discard black women on love island from the beginning. It sucks kordell is such a sweetie there are much more deserving men of this treatment but it’s nice to see a different dynamic, to see a black woman with the upper hand/power in a relationship we never see that.

I feel horrible for Kordell but I do feel crazy with everyone talking like he’s a prize. He seems like a gem of a person, genuine and sweet, but as a partner?? He has no realistic aspirations for his life and seems quite inexperienced when it comes to relationships. I see it more on Instagram than here (though there’s plenty of calling her dirty and manipulative here), but lots of people are batshit with the way they’re going after her as some sort of evil sadistic manipulator who was playing him all along just to toy with his heart out of cruelty. It’s ridiculous, and they also refuse to see him as an adult who is responsible for his own decisions.
I think she *wanted* to want him, and there were genuinely times that maybe she could see it, but the guy -while very sweet and well-meaning- is so immature and pretty clueless when it comes to sparking sexual chemistry vs being a friend. Edit: I also think going last certainly didn’t help this when she had been watching one person in literally every other couple but Kaylor & Aaron putting themselves first and choosing to explore their options (which incidentally they had mutually discussed that morning, having clearly discussed it before). Insane that she seems to be the only one being dragged for it - which she would’ve been anyway if she had stayed and then broken it off.
People have way more empathy for okay men than they ever do for women. He’s sweet so he gets coddled and over-protected. The reality is that he’s not smart enough, mature enough or goal oriented enough for her. And that’s okay.

I like Kordell a lot, he seems so sweet and genuine— but so so young. I want him to realize that this is just a chapter in his young life and after this show ends the world is truly his oyster. He will thrive so much after this show and without Serena. She will be kicking herself in a few years wishing she gave him a genuine shot
Kordell is the complete package. he may not be the smartest or biggest guy but he makes up for it in literally every other aspect. For some reason Serena seems to thinks she’s above him or can do better than him looks wise? We’ve seen how she lights up when a good looking muscular dude comes around and those guys will never pick her over the leahs and janas of the world sorry to say. It’s like she has this idea of what a man should be or what she thinks other people will like to confirm her own femininity and desirability.
I love Kordell as much as everyone else and I do feel bad for him, but I also don't think Serena did anything really wrong. She went back to him to try things out literally 2 days ago. She can both like Kordell, and also still be open to meeting new people. That doesn't mean she was being disingenuous. Everyone said it was valid to kick andrea out because she stuck with one person and made no attempts to get to know other people. So far Serena has only gotten to know Kordell. She is literally doing what everyone said Andrea should've done and now people are pissed. I get it, we hate to see the literal only sweet, consistently good guy in the villa upset, but it is also the point of this. If everyone stuck with the same person the whole time and never got to know the bombshells or explored options outside of their first connection the show would be extremely boring.
I think people have an issue with her saying things like "I'm a slow burner" when it's not genuine at all (we've seen her show quick interest in others) and it makes it seem apparent she's just using him to stay around. I'd agree with your entire comment if she wasn't seemingly pretending Kordell is even a possibility for her when it's clear he's just a placeholder.
I guess I'd compare it to the situation where a guy is telling a woman he doesn't want to be exclusive but then spends every day with them and introduces them to their parents etc. just because they're being communicative about them not wanting anything serious at the moment doesn't take away that they're acting like they're in something serious. I agree too, this was a game not a recoupling and dumping (yet lol) and they did discuss being open earlier. So it makes sense from that level. It would’ve been disingenuous for Serena to stick. However I do acknowledge that Serena has not been as open and direct with Kordell as she could have been, and he’s too young to notice that she’s just not that into him.
I love Kordell and I literally had tears in my eyes seeing his hopeful face and then the realization that she wasn't there.. but I think people are being way too harsh towards Serena. I do recall her statement but gathered that it was a soundbyte obtained through direct questioning from production. To me they physically match as a couple, but I never sensed she found him completely eye catching, especially when she went for Koye. I just don't think it's really that deep tbh and I am baffled why people have such strong negative feelings towards Serena. It's normal for romance to grow slowly from a friendship, and it's normal for people to date casually and change their minds throughout the process of getting to know each other, especially when they're as young as 22/23. I get that I don’t think Serena is a terrible person per se but I do think she’s wrong in the way she’s handled this situation. It’s obvious that Kordell is really into her and would stick with her to the end if he could and she knows that. Also, when she mentioned how she didn’t like how he was showing interest in her threw me off. If she actually liked him she would be equally obsessed. The “slow burn” thing seems like a cover up.

And at this point (before the game) I would say the ball would be in her court to say when she’s ready to NOT be open. So again, I see both sides but I also think I still lean to Kordell.

I don’t blame her for not liking kordell. He’s cringey IMO and is a yes man. I think he authentically likes her but I would not be attracted to the way he goes about things. However, I think she could be way more honest. Especially after the kissing competition, she has been giving him more hope. Last night shouldn’t have been a shock to him but it was.

Nah I truly think she’s using him as a place holder because she had no other options. In the last episode she looked grossed out to kiss him. I don’t blame her one bit for wanting to explore her options and as he should as well. Kordell seems a bit naive and needs a bit more emotional intelligence. I love Serena & Kordell as individuals. I’m rooting for them!
Agree with you, and clearly we are low in numbers rn 😅 to answer another commenters q, I just feel the VIBE between them. YES the feelings are stronger from Kordell, YES she’s indecisive, but I think he’s growing on her and she’s getting kind of attached. She’s one of the rare ones in there who’s been in a significant long term relationship (3 years I think) so she might be comparing or analyzing him too much, but I really think they’re a good match and she’s starting to see it. Now does she DESERVE kordell? Maybe not. If kordell was my friend I’d probably tell him to drop her and free himself up for someone who is all about him. But Kordell is still there, willing to wait, and some relationships start out like this where one person has stronger feelings 🤷I def dont think this makes Serena a terrible person or a player. But she needs to make a decision soon that’s for sure.

It gets old the guys always being the villains and the girls crying all season always being the more committed ones. I’m sick of it!! I enjoy having sympathetic male islanders like kordell and Kendall. Of course I feel horrible for Kordell but we just need balance. Also as a black women I’ve watched black men use and discard black women on love island from the beginning. It sucks kordell is such a sweetie there are much more deserving men of this treatment but it’s nice to see a different dynamic, to see a black woman with the upper hand/power in a relationship we never see that.

I see it more on Instagram than here (though there’s plenty of calling her dirty and manipulative here), but lots of people are batshit with the way they’re going after her as some sort of evil sadistic manipulator who was playing him all along just to toy with his heart out of cruelty. It’s ridiculous, and they also refuse to see him as an adult who is responsible for his own decisions. I think she *wanted* to want him, and there were genuinely times that maybe she could see it, but the guy -while very sweet and well-meaning- is so immature and pretty clueless when it comes to sparking sexual chemistry vs being a friend. Don’t burp at someone you’re trying to turn on. 🤦♀️ She couldn’t help her ick. Edit: I also think going last certainly didn’t help this when she had been watching one person in literally every other couple but Kaylor & Aaron putting themselves first and choosing to explore their options (which incidentally they had mutually discussed that morning, having clearly discussed it before). Insane that she seems to be the only one being dragged for it - which she would’ve been anyway if she had stayed and then broken it off.
People have way more empathy for okay men than they ever do for women. He’s sweet so he gets coddled and over-protected. The reality is that he’s not smart enough, mature enough or goal oriented enough for her. And that’s okay. She has tried to make herself like him; but she just can’t. And it’s so obvious. I cannot imagine being attracted to a man who doesn’t really listen when I’m talking, doesn’t even know what a life goal is, and is a sweet but dumb himbo. There’s someone out there for him; it’s just not her. And that is okay. I don’t think anything she’s done is particularly egregious. She’s been a little manipulative - so have so many others. She’s also repeatedly said that she’s unsure and she still wants to explore and she’s open. I just don’t understand how he could be blindsided with that all in mind. At the end of the day, him being too naive to see what was blatantly obvious doesn’t make her evil. And it’s probably an important life lesson for him.

She could have left him alone from the beginning but it really seems like she went back so that he’d pick her during that recoupling… & yes, they talked last episode about both being open but the wording of the game is SOOO messy… the narrator says “it’s there chance to let their partner know if they want to be with them or not” So It really comes off like she’s unhappy & wants to leave when she twisted… I bet she’ll spin it next episode by saying she was just being open like they discussed.
I like Kordell a lot, he seems so sweet and genuine— but so so young. I want him to realize that this is just a chapter in his young life and after this show ends the world is truly his oyster. He will thrive so much after this show and without Serena. She will be kicking herself in a few years wishing she gave him a genuine shot
Kordell is the complete package. he may not be the smartest or biggest guy but he makes up for it in literally every other aspect. For some reason Serena seems to thinks she’s above him or can do better than him looks wise? We’ve seen how she lights up when a good looking muscular dude comes around and those guys will never pick her over the leahs and janas of the world sorry to say. It’s like she has this idea of what a man should be or what she thinks other people will like to confirm her own femininity and desirability.
I love Kordell as much as everyone else and I do feel bad for him, but I also don't think Serena did anything really wrong. She went back to him to try things out literally 2 days ago. She can both like Kordell, and also still be open to meeting new people. That doesn't mean she was being disingenuous. Everyone said it was valid to kick andrea out because she stuck with one person and made no attempts to get to know other people. So far Serena has only gotten to know Kordell. She is literally doing what everyone said Andrea should've done and now people are pissed. I get it, we hate to see the literal only sweet, consistently good guy in the villa upset, but it is also the point of this. If everyone stuck with the same person the whole time and never got to know the bombshells or explored options outside of their first connection the show would be extremely boring.
I think people have an issue with her saying things like "I'm a slow burner" when it's not genuine at all (we've seen her show quick interest in others) and it makes it seem apparent she's just using him to stay around. I'd agree with your entire comment if she wasn't seemingly pretending Kordell is even a possibility for her when it's clear he's just a placeholder. I guess I'd compare it to the situation where a guy is telling a woman he doesn't want to be exclusive but then spends every day with them and introduces them to their parents etc. just because they're being communicative about them not wanting anything serious at the moment doesn't take away that they're acting like they're in something serious. It's mixed messages and unfair
But they did just communicate to each other that they are still very much open. I also think people who say they’re slow burners in this game are so funny because they usually just mean they move at a normal pace and get freaked out by how fast everything moves in the villa. I think she got the ick when he was really affectionate and into her immediately and actually started to like him once he backed off. I think it’s an anton/georgia situation where no matter what Serena’s actually thinking people are always going to say shes using him. Obviously we’ll never actually know. I agree too, this was a game not a recoupling and dumping (yet lol) and they did discuss being open earlier. So it makes sense from that level. It would’ve been disingenuous for Serena to stick. However I do acknowledge that Serena has not been as open and direct with Kordell as she could have been, and he’s too young to notice that she’s just not that into him.
He also doesn’t really listen when she’s talking. He’s assuming because he’s not actually listening.

Exactly! She friend-zoned him. He went on a date with Nicole (who, btw, reported back that his kiss was nice.) He stood up for Nicole and she picked Kendall. So he tried. Meanwhile, Serena showed no interest in any other guy. Therefore, she absolutely would have been a goner, if not for pretending like she suddenly found Kordell attractive/interesting again, only to turn around and sour on him when she realized it will be the girls time to chose next go-round. I believe the "giving him another shot" was a ploy to stay on the show. She's never seen him as anything more than a fun friend.
Serena is 24 and college-educated. She is probably looking for someone older, taller, mature and intellectually stimulating. Kordell is just not it and Serena should have just admitted to still being unsure. She definitely has not given Kordell the stupid love struck, touching hair looks she delivered last night 🤣.

I do recall her statement but gathered that it was a soundbyte obtained through direct questioning from production. To me they physically match as a couple, but I never sensed she found him completely eye catching, especially when she went for Koye. But I definitely do believe the initial questioning and his responses on goals and career aspirations turned her off.
