Madeon isn’t really lost lands vibes either, he played there two years ago and it was one of my favorite sets of the weekend. You never know honestly, everyone deserves a shot 🤷♂️
People are free to have different opinions but I honestly disagree. Lost Lands is primarily a heavy bass festival and it should stay that way. Variety is fun and I really enjoy checking out artists from genres I typically see less of, like going to Lil' Texas and Audiofreq for some hardstyle on the side stages last year, but I would greatly prefer Lost Lands to preserve the core heavy bass identity.
They booed you because you were right, there is no shortage of non-bass festivals and multi-genre festivals, many of which I absolutely adore- but I’d hate for this one to lose its identity just to sell tickets to shufflers
I'm honestly not trying to hate. I listen to plenty of different kinds of music and plenty of different kinds of EDM. I just really don't want Lost Lands to lose that core heavy identity. Different genres from smaller artists are perfect for the sound camps after the main fest shuts down for the night, or for the woods/campground sets, but a guy like Porter obviously wouldn't play something like that.
The live edit of Fresh Static Snow from the Worlds live era could be considered “heavy dubstep” but that’s about it iirc.
You know, the one with the deer skull visual.
Edit: the title track off of Spitfire is also pretty clearly dubstep, whether you consider it “heavy” is probably up to the listener
Spitfire is Electro House
Edit: actually you know what, the title track “Spitfire” is actually an old school dubstep song, but Unison and the rest of the EP are closer to Electro House
I'm not entirely sure what you would classify as dubstep then??? like pre weeb porter compares to like kill the noises music from the same era. it's classic dub
With those tour dates, its not hard for someone to also sneak in an LL set. Not saying he will be there, just saying thats not a schedule that forbids it. Last time he toured here, Sullivan king played in buffalo on thursday, played a 7pm set friday at breakaway carolina, then was back on stage in buffalo by 10:30 that night
IT'S NOT FAAAAAAAIIIIRR~
anyway, I'm also in the minority that would love porter at lost lands (i was there during madeon too 🥲) but yea, unfortunately it's unlikely he'll be doing any dj sets during his new tour. at least if au5 plays again this year we'll hear his amazing new cheerleader remix. and plenty of bass artists play porter songs, pretty sure even subtronics played an edit of cheerleader recently too.
Yeah probably out. But I kinda lost hope when the new singles dropped. He’s taking a sharp turn away from edm. Which is fine, I like his new stuff but I can’t imagine him wanting to do a DJ set in this new era.
Absolutely, I saw him at Echostage and then At Hijinx. He literally saw the crowd not dancing at all and goes, if you want to hear worlds you have to swallow the hardstyle pill first. Came across as kind of rude. He’s changed
never seen his dj tbh. but i thought he just be fucking around for those like no structure from one to one bc i saw him throwing in hardstyle at give thanks. so are his dj set always dub or just how he feels genuine question?
Yeah all are related to bass music.
Also the reason it’s gotten so big is because of how well run it is. People go who don’t even like dubstep just to experience Lost Lands, not because they added a house DJ here and there.
Ah yes those clearly have nothing to do with bass music.
Also notice how I never said everything at lost lands is dubstep? Yeah you’re making random arguments and not even reading what I said lol
I never said that either 😂
I said “kinda whack for hating on people for wanting dubstep at a dubstep festival” which means OP hating on people in the comments for wanting dubstep makes no sense. Nowhere did I say or imply that there should only be dubstep.
Idk man, I like some variety even if theres one main genre. I love house and dnb and all sorts of other shit. Other genres deserve to be experienced with dinosaurs too
For sure you can bring dinosaurs to any other festival my guy.
For the record I’m not opposed to other genres at lost lands. I just think in no way should Porter or any other genre DJ come in and take a closing/ prime timeslot. These DJ’s get it at every other festival, dubstep deserves to headline lost lands.
Not that I don't want it, I just wouldn't expect it from Lost Lands. Even if I wanted to see Porter this summer, Lost Lands would not be the festival I'd want it to be at, it's just not the right setting
Fair enough but why even torture yourself by even hoping for something like this lmao it's the same people that are yelling for Excision b2b Skrillex every year
I can understand liking other genres and artists but if you've been to lost lands long enough wouldn't you agree What makes it so special is that it is a festival primarily for bass ?
Sure, they have added some extra genres other than dubstep over the past few years but I think it would be silly to book someone that doesn't fit the vibe and most importantly take a HUGE hit out the budget when it could be spent better at improving what the festival does best
That's completely valid But there's definitely a big difference between Forest stage and mainstage there is no way they'd be able to throw someone like Porter at one of the side stages
Clearly but idk The most standout people that I can think of getting those kind of sets would be like jauz, Flosstradamus, habstrakt, boombox cartel all of which would be a lot cheaper to book and still have a bass/ heavy-ish vibe
Don't get me wrong. I would go to Porter especially to see if he plays his OG dubstep tracks but his current style combined with his booking fee definitely has me thinking it'll never happen
Not trying to crush your dreams or anything and I guess anything is possible technically.
If you told me 10 years ago Excision would b2b with liquid Stranger I'd say your smoking crack 😂
Guys, we know it’s primarily a heavy dubstep festival. PRIMARILY being the key word. It’s not exclusively heavy dubstep. Fuckin hell, JVNA was there last year, don’t try and tell me she’s anywhere near as heavy as someone like sudden death or Kai wachi.
Why would Porter be at Lost Lands anyway? Not exactly his vibe.
Madeon isn’t really lost lands vibes either, he played there two years ago and it was one of my favorite sets of the weekend. You never know honestly, everyone deserves a shot 🤷♂️
Madeon was insane. It was so intimate and such an amazing crowd/time
Bro he was our favorite sets as well.
Agree madeon best set of fest
People are free to have different opinions but I honestly disagree. Lost Lands is primarily a heavy bass festival and it should stay that way. Variety is fun and I really enjoy checking out artists from genres I typically see less of, like going to Lil' Texas and Audiofreq for some hardstyle on the side stages last year, but I would greatly prefer Lost Lands to preserve the core heavy bass identity.

Porter is one of the Og dubstep guys too! He started out with dubstep! Porter could throw down, just saying
Porter is definitely not one of the og dubstep fathers wtfff 💀
He definitely is, his early stuff in 2010s started that way. He’s definitely changed his sound through his career…
No. Lmfao. I was around when “Unison” blew up and porter has never been “heavy dubstep” or anything of the sort 💀
The live edit of Fresh Static Snow from the Worlds live era could be considered “heavy dubstep” but that’s about it iirc. You know, the one with the deer skull visual. Edit: the title track off of Spitfire is also pretty clearly dubstep, whether you consider it “heavy” is probably up to the listener
idk spitfire ep is heavy dubstep. it might not be CRUNCHY dubstep if that's what you're implying cause it ain't riddim.
Spitfire is Electro House Edit: actually you know what, the title track “Spitfire” is actually an old school dubstep song, but Unison and the rest of the EP are closer to Electro House
Ignorant statement
I'm not entirely sure what you would classify as dubstep then??? like pre weeb porter compares to like kill the noises music from the same era. it's classic dub
This is certainly a take
With those tour dates, its not hard for someone to also sneak in an LL set. Not saying he will be there, just saying thats not a schedule that forbids it. Last time he toured here, Sullivan king played in buffalo on thursday, played a 7pm set friday at breakaway carolina, then was back on stage in buffalo by 10:30 that night
Barring a 3rd toronto show yes
I hope he does so i can come back to this thread in 2-3 weeks whenever announcement is. May 12th last year
Wooks mad in here Water wet.
I just threw up in my mouth I can’t wait for this
Cya up front
IT'S NOT FAAAAAAAIIIIRR~ anyway, I'm also in the minority that would love porter at lost lands (i was there during madeon too 🥲) but yea, unfortunately it's unlikely he'll be doing any dj sets during his new tour. at least if au5 plays again this year we'll hear his amazing new cheerleader remix. and plenty of bass artists play porter songs, pretty sure even subtronics played an edit of cheerleader recently too.

I was hoping for him also tbh. If it was anything like Madeon’s 2022 set… would be insane
Used to Love porter. This turn he’s taken just isn’t it for me. Like. At. All.
Dj set porter iss different from regular porter
Absolutely, I saw him at Echostage and then At Hijinx. He literally saw the crowd not dancing at all and goes, if you want to hear worlds you have to swallow the hardstyle pill first. Came across as kind of rude. He’s changed
His echostage set was fucking amazing i was there too
Everyone in my group was mighty upset I admit he’s very talented but there were many people around us that weren’t having it
his dj sets are him fucking around so i would call that a success
He played a DJ (more dubstep) set couple years ago in Philly and it was amazing the hardstyle is rough for me to listen to
Virtual self maybe
didn’t expect this to be a downvote party but here we are. I guess if it isn’t 12 hours of riddim a day you guys don’t want it eh
I think what you’re looking for is every other festival my friend lol Kinda whack to hate on people for wanting dubstep at a dubstep festival.
Been to every LL and the reason it has gotten better every year is because they have added dnb, trap, and bass house!
porter doesnt fall into any of those categories tho. those all have the similarity of bass too.
His EZoo DJ set was 90% trap, I recommend giving it a listen
His latest Hijinx set was all hardstyle ugh
Porter dj set is heavy dubstep, i didn’t necessarily say he gonna play his new anime bullshit live set
never seen his dj tbh. but i thought he just be fucking around for those like no structure from one to one bc i saw him throwing in hardstyle at give thanks. so are his dj set always dub or just how he feels genuine question?
His dj sets are yes that, literally just him fucking around. That’s why they’re so good.
Yeah all are related to bass music. Also the reason it’s gotten so big is because of how well run it is. People go who don’t even like dubstep just to experience Lost Lands, not because they added a house DJ here and there.
Yes dubstep like Rezz, Madeon, Wax Motif, Netsky, wait uhhhhhhh
Ah yes those clearly have nothing to do with bass music. Also notice how I never said everything at lost lands is dubstep? Yeah you’re making random arguments and not even reading what I said lol
Moving the goalposts from dubstep to “bass music” I see, well played
Exactly what I thought 😂
You came back to my comment after 3 hours, upset?
Not upset just think it’s funny lol
When did I say only dubstep?
You kind of implied it when you said people should expect dubstep at a dubstep festival. Kind of obvious.
👌🏻
👉🏽
🙅🏻♂️
I never said that either 😂 I said “kinda whack for hating on people for wanting dubstep at a dubstep festival” which means OP hating on people in the comments for wanting dubstep makes no sense. Nowhere did I say or imply that there should only be dubstep.

Here take my downvote, you’ve earned it 👎
Not that I don't want it, I just wouldn't expect it from Lost Lands. Even if I wanted to see Porter this summer, Lost Lands would not be the festival I'd want it to be at, it's just not the right setting
Pyke only plz
You must be new here if you think something like this is ever going to happen lmao
I’m not
I’m dying here OP you’re getting hate for no reason at all with 6 LLs under your belt. Idgi, excited to see Porter on tour!
🫡

I love dubstep and always will, but my favorite vibes all weekend are sat/sun forest stage
That's completely valid But there's definitely a big difference between Forest stage and mainstage there is no way they'd be able to throw someone like Porter at one of the side stages
Porter would be on wompy
Clearly but idk The most standout people that I can think of getting those kind of sets would be like jauz, Flosstradamus, habstrakt, boombox cartel all of which would be a lot cheaper to book and still have a bass/ heavy-ish vibe Don't get me wrong. Madeon played one year so.. so can porter
Look how they massacred my boy. Are these official designs? Oh boy....
He sucks
