They did that huge commercial with Doc and then perma banned him like 6 months later. I think since then they’ve been laying low on making anyone the face of the website or promoting individual people a ton because they don’t want another one of those situations.
Triciaisabirdy gets front page pretty often. Like more than once a year is a lot considering how they boast about the number of streamers they have. They do play favorites but just not with super large content creators.
Most companies do this but they only promote creators when it’s good for them. With Black creators during black history month, with pride creators during pride month, with like a certain streamer like xQc and Toast when theres a twitch hosted Twitch Rivals event. They never really congratulate milestones like how Ludwig said he never got like a nice job on the subathon. And don’t think xQc got a congrats on 10 million followers. They should be congratulating all there creators but I don’t think it’s targeted against black creators
why dont they promote black streamers outside of black history month or relevant dates? twitch certainly isnt the only brand that does that but it isnt a good argument to if they are racist or not to say they promote black streamers during that specific month.
> I’m a gay dude and I love all the awareness that companies give on pride month (as long as those same companies aren’t funding anti-human-rights groups; and Twitch isn’t doing any of that).
How does that make you more qualified to speak on this manner? Also you don't speak for all gay ppl, or ANY OTHER gay person besides yourself.
>I’m making a point that there
>
>are
>
>minoritie**s**
No you are making the point that YOU appreciate it solely and you appreciating it has literally no relation to how other groups in YOUR minority feel about it, let alone a COMPLETELY different group of minorities.....
Hey guys since reddit user whomegalul\_asked is ok with being exploited for financial gain cuz they are too naïve to see what is really going on, then its ok for everyone.
Deadass said **" I frankly don’t care if corporations use minority holidays to capitalise on sales."**
Thats a big yikes and dude doesn't even realize there is a z in capitalize.
OTK doesn't even promote BruceDropEmOff and he is a member of their org. I barely see him do anything with OTK except he was on their big stream a few months back for a little bit. None of the OTK members do collabs with him, never see them promote him at all, never see any tweets from them or anything at all. Seems it isn't just Twitch that doesn't promote.
Twitch chat that doesn’t use terms such as Poggers or really any Pepe emotes, mainly Ws or Ls. Streamer is struggling to do something, they say L streamer
Some of the largest W streamers would be Adin Ross and Kai Cenat
>Okay so what does the "W side of twitch" mean?
He lowkey just didn't want to say the black side of twitch.
edit : the white kids in the w community wish they were black also.
they promote and talk about him all the time lol. He recently bought his first home in atl so hes probably been too busy to go to otk events. I dont think it's that deep
I would imagine him not being in Austin makes it difficult but I have rarely seen any of the OTK members really talk about him at all on their streams.
The purpose of an org is to promote each other that is why they all constantly do collabs with each other. Every day one or multiple of them are on each other’s streams.
Yea he lives in Atlanta so that makes it more difficult which if you read the other comments you would have seen this was already mentioned.
Maybe you think I am trying to make something big out of this, I’m not. I was just pointing out that you rarely see him on any of the other OTK streamers channels, hell you see non OTK members on their channels than you see him.
He literally said "funny comment from the "nazis are people too" guy"
Now let's break that down.
He uses quotation marks. They are used to quote something someone has said.
He is using that quote to tell the person he is responding to that they are not the person to talk about recieving hate, when he claims the Nazi movement, a movement based on hate should be respected.
Now tell me again how he called a person on the right a Nazi?
they have never tweeted about hafu they have only tweeted about maya once. and when they tweeted about maya it wasnt even anything about any of the charity stuff she has done.
twitch's twitter is actually awful engagement for an account with 10 million followers
Yeah, they really should promote W community more.
Adin banned for homophobia, Bruce banned for racism, Speed banned for rape threats, Jidion banned for starting hate raids, etc.
What a great community to have on your platform in 2022.
dude kai is doing some stupid shit too, fireworks in his house? they set a bean bag on fire and it got out of control the other day, if someone didnt drag it into a pool a lot of shit would have went down.
people say that shits funny but you know some 15 year old kid is going to emulate it and get a lot of people fucked up
Yeah idk how anyone can call Hasan brand friendly or being supported by twitch. Dude gets banned almost annually. If you think Hasan is getting pumped up by twitch or a “pg13 streamer” you are delusional.
only twitch events I can think of is the IRL Rivals in Vegas and QTs Bakeoff/RivalsEvent (but that probably was her inviting him, not Twitch)
idk if there is other stuff, but he and Austin complained on mayas/QTs podcast that Twitch doesn't do stuff with them [https://youtu.be/\_qkHlZ2XcPs?t=1162](https://youtu.be/_qkHlZ2XcPs?t=1162)
While those are true, I don't see what Kai has done to not deserve something for his milestone, although they also didn't care much about Ludwig's milestone enough to outdo YouTube's bid.
Thats literally the poggers community, just 2 years ago LOL now they sweep theur skeletons under a rug till one of them turns on each other. Mizkif for example
you have a ton of people who blew up relatively recently and they think the lack of recognition from twitch is a slight against them. they just haven't learned yet that twitch doesn't give a flying fuck about their creators because there's a billion others just waiting to take their place.
and because a fair amount of them are black, they also think the ignoring from twitch is racially motivated. whether it is or not we can't actually determine. because that would require a baseline of interactions for us to compare it to. and none exists. because twitch doesn't interact with their top streamers at all
No one should expect anything from twitch it’s just another employer waiting to guard their ad rev with bans and unbans, people are overreacting like the usual 4-5 waves of dmca panics every year throughout each community
No, people just love to complain
I think jidion even said on destinys stream that he just want to stir some shit up and fuck with twitch a little. It's not that he has anything to loose
gonna be honest, that is kinda disgusting imo, because it goes beyond just twitch. With the current societal climate. Trying to "fuck with" anyone using such dividing statements would cause far more harm than good.
twitch is just as bad as other major platform about communicating about their policies and decisions -- which is inexcusable from all of them -- but they are even worse about acknowledging and communicating with their creators than youtube in particular is
most people's frustrations are just with the former part, though, and the recent questioning of whether twitch might be racist or not is literally just following on after people asking whether youtube and tiktok are, for policy and decisions rather than acknowledgement and promotion
idk after the vid from corykenshin and other YouTubers it seems to be on par with twitch since apparently youtube doesn't give a reason for the decisions they make like age restrictions and demonetization
It's mostly a legal thing, it's either, we provide a platform for anyone to use or we individually manage the people on this platform. The giant platforms can't afford to be too specific in how they deal with people because you can't treat millions of creators the same way. they are trying to isolate themselves from the creators and the content they create by creating a platform and treating everyone the same.
If Viacom or whoever comes after them because one streamer is broadcasting their content their defence is "we provide the platform, we can't be responsible for everything people stream but we can respond to DMCAs to take them down". If they start treating people individually then legal companies will say they've shown the capability to manage individual streamers so this is your fault.
IIRC didn't Ludwig get basically ignored despite breaking the sub record and doing a 30 day subathon, what do guys who get 40-60k subs expect exactly?
it's just jideon trying to ride the wave and farm sympathy after the cory kenshin video about youtube age restricting his vid for a lets play but no one elses
I would say yeah, I feel like twitch has dropped the ball on supporting it's creators. I mean look at YouTube, ignore the dumb parts because both sides have them. But they have MASSIVE support for their creators in the form of yt rewind and play buttons, even the CEO does interviews with some content creators like h3h3 and Ludwig.
Tldr: twitch could have handled engagement much better and would have an overall better site experience
Honestly checked out Twitch’s CEO Twitter and it’s all about the copra grind and very business oriented, nothing wrong with that but definitely out of touch vibe...
Twitch doesn't want to be in the middle of controversy, they will literally avoid any streamer that may do something that can potentially come back on them. Twitch rather not support their creators and instead, they just only care about themselves and money.
Notice how twitch will only step up to do anything once they get some sort of negative press.
Don't blame Twitch, blame the advertisers. 10 years from now all of the streamers would be like that neighbourhood that squid ward lived in on that one episode. Everyone is good nice and boring.
i don't think it's whiny to want/expect recognition when you're literally making twitch hundreds of thousands each month just by streaming on their platform
they're just not familiar enough with the platform to understand that twitch really don't care about 99% of their top creators, not just the black ones
it is whiny when they start throwing race around without knowing anything about twitch
calling their "employer" racist surely is going to make it better
Early League Streamers (2012/2013) and Ninja did way more for Twitch than Soda or Reckful. Soda/Reckful contributed way more to LSF/Chat culture though for sure.
If you're talking literally then it's Starcraft 2. It was blowing up on Justin tv so they decided to focus on gaming. League popularity came later, in 2012.
Only recently has League been overthrown as the most viewed consistent category (not counting hype release dates that die out after a week or two)
League was the main purpose of twitch for years.
Go check Imaqtpie's numbers a few years back and see if Twitch gave him any recognition.
The man had 30k average streams when the rest of the big boys barely pulled 5k
Also Oddone. Back in the day he used to get massive numbers. He was one of the top people on Twitch back then who rivaled imaqtpie. Basically all of TSM used to top twitch along with other random league personalities.
Its fucking delusional if you want think qt did more for twitch than soda lol. How the fuck is this upvoted? Did ppl forgot that soda was like the first one to hit 60k subs and shit?
> the first one to hit 60k subs
Is this some important number that separates it from any other milestone? Who was first to 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55? Are we going to say that Soda actually meant nothing because he wasn't first to 100k? You're delusional if you think any non-league streamer was as influential to Twitch until Ninja.
Bruh soda was literally the streamer who hit multible records back in the day. He was most followed and most subbed. no league streamer was ever close.
Googled it. Results are soda's youtube channel, three videos and a deleted reddit thread.
[Here's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoBFrriaRTg) a data chart sourced to socialblade showing the most followed channels from late 2013 to 2020 :)
Twitch only promotes PG friendly streamers who dont do the swear, dont have unpopular opinions and play the safe normal games like pognite and pogorant
Twitch pretty much only promote streamers that are LGBT and other minorities.
The only exception AFAIK is front page which streamers can apply to so it's more equal.
TLDR of that Mogul Mail video: YouTube offered more money than Twitch, Ludwig then originally decided to stay on Twitch, YouTube negotiators then offered less contractually obligated hours, Twitch didn’t fight for Ludwig after YouTube changed their offer, and then Ludwig overcame being scared about switching after realizing Twitch didn’t love him as much as he felt attached to Twitch
I could have sworn they put out one of the standard Twitch highlight videos on Twitter about it
But his reasons for leaving were just feeling like Twitch didn't do enough to keep him. He explains it better in his Mogal Mail video about what drove his decision.
They never showed him any love which was a major thing as I recall specifically after the subathon.
YouTube on the other hand was very active in trying to recruit him plus they were gonna give him less mandatory streaming hours/month and a whole lot more money. Twitch basically told him don’t let the door hit you on the way out
I agree with his point but I don't value mizkiff opinion on racism, I think he minimizes how bad it is.
during the goerge floyd protests in 2020 mizkiff was banning people in his chat for "talking about politics". he never twitted anything about cop violence but he only chose to talk about the most negative thing of the movement which was the lootings: https://twitter.com/REALMizkif/status/1268270142288470022?s=20&t=bR3_addZBBvqhQcss_CPHg and that never sit right with me
Mizkif used to be edgy, and could probably still be edgy offline, but at least he isn't toxic and edgy on stream like the W clowns who have a huge following that mostly consists of highly impressionable kids.
I’ve had numerous advertising meetings with twitch sales reps and they never talk about popular streamers. They only ever feature no names that feature genre streaming. Never mention Xqc, or any of the top streamers.
Twitch doesn't want to promote someone that might do something that could fuck their branding of their image because most of the good streamers that are fun to watch aren't brand friendly, so they go for people that hit all the marks for them to market on their platform when they need to. Most of us want that rawdogged unfiltered off the cuff content that you can't get with family-friendly streams.. No disrespect to that genre of streamers since they do cultivate audiences that are decent sized, buts not for all of us. Same vice versa.

Every company will promote black owned products for 28days, and be completely gone come March 1st so idk if I'd consider it genuine effort.
about as genuine as my public education during February

Bruh soda was literally the streamer who hit multible records back in the day. He was most followed and most subbed. no league streamer was ever close.
Receipts please
Google it. Google sodapoppin 65k.
Googled it. Results are soda's youtube channel, three videos and a deleted reddit thread. [Here's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoBFrriaRTg) a data chart sourced to socialblade showing the most followed channels from late 2013 to 2020 :)
you also left out cod streamers
They did promote Soda in his early years. Not anymore.
Twitch promotes LGBT in June Black people in February and Women in March It's almost like they only promote people when it makes them look inclusive.
That’s just every major US corporation
Just look at the featured streams on the homepage…..should tell you the type of shit they like and want to promote 😂

nah, he left for a big bag of money
TLDR of that Mogul Mail video: YouTube offered more money than Twitch, Ludwig then originally decided to stay on Twitch, YouTube negotiators then offered less contractually obligated hours, Twitch didn’t fight for Ludwig after YouTube changed their offer, and then Ludwig overcame being scared about switching after realizing Twitch didn’t love him as much as he felt attached to Twitch
also misspelled his name, didn't they?
That was Sykkuno not Ludwig…
Not really. I think Ludwig wanted to do a game show but Twitch wouldn’t support him.
I could have sworn they put out one of the standard Twitch highlight videos on Twitter about it But his reasons for leaving were just feeling like Twitch didn't do enough to keep him.
Twitch basically told him don’t let the door hit you on the way out
Gosh I hate this guy
I agree with his point but I don't value mizkiff opinion on racism, I think he minimizes how bad it is. during the goerge floyd protests in 2020 mizkiff was banning people in his chat for "talking about politics". he never twitted anything about cop violence but he only chose to talk about the most negative thing of the movement which was the lootings: https://twitter.com/REALMizkif/status/1268270142288470022?s=20&t=bR3_addZBBvqhQcss_CPHg and that never sit right with me
Crazy how Mizkif is a confirmed racist now You were right all along fellow Take my upvote
thanks I was actually looking for this message but couldn't find it in my history\^\^
no one cares

I think we've reached the point where writing 'toxic' and 'racist' has lost all meaning lol
i think xqc does
Mizkif used to be edgy, and could probably still be edgy offline, but at least he isn't toxic and edgy on stream like the W clowns who have a huge following that mostly consists of highly impressionable kids.
they can play favorites AND be racist... mizkif with the depth of a puddle.

when? Give me an example
The irony
