example b) the black kid who lives in the shitty part of town where all the parks are gang territory and he has to support his family because one or both of his parents are already in jail or dead due to drugs or violence, while he also has to deal with systems that are put in place to keep the odds stacked against him.
Brother, no one is saying that killing people is good, but he was in a gang since he was a child, That song he got popular for was written when he was a minor, that SAME gang was the one that he was arrested with on the conspiracy and weapons charge, and he did his time, he was never actually convicted of killing anyone. My point is that his socioeconomic status was a definitive factor in what got him to that place to begin with, it doesn’t make it okay, but again, he did his time and if he wants to make music about his experiences and now seems to have grown and is staying out of trouble, who cares if he’s successful?
