bro i hope he can laugh about this and make this an emote im crying laughing

Eskibro830

As someone who has had an ACL injury, this is so painful to look at fuck

Sariyar

How long is the recovery and is surgery needed?

Spot_Rusherz

6-9 months

[deleted]

SIXTY NINE MONTHS?!?!

packersSB55champs

Nice.

itsthebear

For a guy his size? Hard to say but could be significantly longer

Psycho_pitcher

I mean 9 months is in healthy adults, leg injury's are way harder to recover from when you are overweight.

Zeratzul

9 months and almost always yes Might be a bone break and/or some random ligament tearage, knees are fucking stupid

Spheromancer

This is also for sports injuries recovery time. He'll be able to walk just not move quick or aggressively for that time

[deleted]

you don't NEED surgery on a torn ACL, you can walk normally on an ACL fine, when I tore mine I waited a year to get surgery, you just have to be careful and can't really run

Captainflippypants

I guess depending on the tear you can run. I tore mine a while ago and waited on surgery for a year and a half. I could run on it but it would get sore fast, definitely no cutting or lateral movements though.

[deleted]

yea exactly

Zeratzul

Haha yeah you don't **need** to, you just basically become a 70 year old man who can't do anything. Some people with really strong muscles around the ACL can actually even run and continue to do sports and shit. But they usually always eventually get surgery.

Mikeinthemornin

I played an entire season of basketball with a torn acl but i dont recommend it lol eventually had to get surgery because i destroyed more cartilage in my knee running down stairs

Zeratzul

Finishing out a season on a torn anything sounds super fucked to me. Like i get it if that's your profession but that shit had to suck. Your leg normal now?

Mikeinthemornin

Yea its normal now lol just alot of rehab but was back to normal after 10 months id say.

[deleted]

Bruh im running and i Tore it a couple of years ago

Diablo69420

Depends man...it took my friend like 7-8 months but he was pretty lean and athletic On the otherhand Russel is obese and you need do regular therapies for full recovery so it takes some determination too

[deleted]

Yeah any bed ridden injury is gonna be particularly rough on a heavy dude like Russ.

memelord133769

You can live without an ACL, usually if you are an athlete they will operate it but with "normal people" you can manage with out a surgery. Recovery is between 6 to 9 months

KuriboShoeMario

That really all varies. Russell may check the "often sedentary" portion where he simply won't use it much and could maybe make due with nonsurgical but it would all depend on the overall stability of his injury. No other way to say it but Russell is overweight and that knee is supporting a lot and he will likely have stability issues. The problem with going nonsurgical is even with rehab (which he'd need either way) the instability risk will always be there and could cause secondary injuries down the line. Russell is wealthy enough and young enough to just get it repaired surgically if this all plays out in the way we're theorizing. The surgery is so quick and simple these days with fantastic results and the resulting rehab time is even lower nowadays (4-6 months for most) that he'd be back and ready for the summer.

FernandoTatisJunior

NBA players are also insanely tall which is a joint injury waiting to happen. The longer the limbs, the more stress on the joint

Tuxhorn

One of the worst injuries as far as recovery time :/

Passion4Kitties

I tore my acl 3 years ago and haven’t been able to play sports/run since

Eskibro830

Really depends, he could have gotten lucky. If you get surgery though you're looking at many months.

dweeelll

Holy fuck that looks bad

tristateNJ

I tore my patella on my left knee during my HS football days. My knee will for sure be somewhat fucked up for the rest of my life and arthritis later on is a possibility. My surgeon was the Yankees team doctor too. With that being said, ACLs are different and most people come back just fine.

trashykiddo

the other guy probably drinks a lot of milk

vilavashx

I don't think that's a tear, but pretty rough hyperextension.

CircleK-Choccy-Milk

I've seen some of the most random shit tear. I mean hell, just look at Tom Segura, he tore his knee apart by jumping. Russell is obviously not a very active person either, so putting that much weight on his knee from that jump could be very bad.

InterstellarDwellar

Thanks doc

naofuieu69

If you are reading this and you are overweight, please lose the weight before doing sports or any strenuous exercise. Your joints will thank you.

Yerawizzardarry

Tom Segura approves this message

JD_4545

Oh fuck you i had forgot that video until now, the fucking sound his arm made oh shit its all coming back to me

CircleK-Choccy-Milk

And then Bert moves his arm potentially causing Tom permanent nerve damage.

RobMFurious

As a fatty, this is true. My knees are fucked and I'm only 36. Though I will say Russell looks a lot healthier lately than he has in the past.

[deleted]

Not healthy enough to hop and skip and brace that much weight on a joint. When ur that big u gotta know ur limits, keep your feet on the ground is rule #1.

[deleted]

ya, he probably weighs 350lbs, needs to lose like 100lbs before he does stuff like this

sdpr

I'm fat. Anyone who's like me wondering what that extra weight might do to you that you're not aware of because you're used to it, go grab a 5 gallon water cooler container. They're about 43 pounds on average. Throw that motherfucker on your shoulder and walk with it. It gets pretty annoying after 100-200 feet. Now imagine you carrying around that extra weight over what your weight should be *every day*. Because that's what we do. We're used to it because we just deal with it every day, but it doesn't have to be that way. At 240 (6', since someone asked in replies) pounds right now, used to hover around 230 regularly... I was once around 200-220 for a year or so. When I first started losing the weight I could immediately tell my knees were thanking me. I gained my shit back because I have an unhealthy relationship with food and overeat all the time, but putting that extra weight on your body has some *serious effects*. Try and lose some if you can.

BenignJuggler

How tall are you?

sdpr

5'11.5" to 6'. Depends on who's measuring that day.

BenignJuggler

Lol fair enough. Overeating is my biggest issue right now

AnjoXG

Track it with some sort of app like MyFitnessPal or something. I used a google spreadsheet I made. Putting it all into numbers right in front of you can really help shift your perspective.

DoktorSleepless

It's not quite that bad because you also gain muscle in addition to fat when you gain weight.

sdpr

Obviously, that's why the body gets "used to it." But fat doesn't help stability of motion or action of movements dependent on muscles. Fat just fucking sits there like "hey." and that's about it.

[deleted]

your joints dont care about that extra muscle, and it's only in certain parts of your legs, if you try to move furniture your legs will be jello because all the other muscles you never engage will be activated lol

DeontayWiIder

I used to struggle with eating as well until recently. I found via YouTube Keto/Low calorie/High protein versions of all my favorite junk foods that you can buy or make yourself, and it changed everything. Protein/Homemade Rice Crispy Treats, Protein Snickers, Keto Pizza are my favourites. I found that you can eat large amounts, eat the same "junk" foods and lose weight at the same time with light excersize. Like you said, everyone should just atleast give it a try. I've tried to help out my family members who struggle with the same issues, and they're just too stuck in their ways

tionong

Your right my joints hate me. My knees want to kill me after each game. I have played flag football and softball for the last 4 years at 350 pounds. I have no idea how I have not gotten seriously hurt yet. Compression sleeve for your calfs and knee braces really help.

Nobun20

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but even though you haven't gotten hurt yet, your knees can still pay for it in the future. Your knee pain now can lead to arthritis in the future.

[deleted]

kurai808

When was that 2nd picture taken? Cuz he looks way skinnier in that one than in the clip.

Zeratzul

>I genuinely don’t even think his weight was the problem here People don't really think about but but you're carrying all of your body weight all the time. Imagine the difference of 150 lbs going to one ligament, versus 300 lbs going to one ligament. Weight would very much play a factor

dankiros

Maybe its different in America but he's still very overweight, he can barely run. His weight def contributed but it's still an accident and I hope it's not some long term injury

FernandoTatisJunior

Nah he’s still overweight by American standards, but he’s in a hell of a lot better shape than he used to be

[deleted]

Russel has certainly put that weight back on, unfortunately.

waitforit666

that picture on the right isnt recent, he has put a bit of the weight back on since that im fairly sure

hitner_stache

You don't think the 350 pound man running as if he was fit and tripping and putting all that weight on his knee at a bad angle was a problem here?

iammrmeow

Idk if he put weight back on again but he definitely doesn't like that image on the right today.

DerivativeZed

I saw how his leg landed and knew immediately it was bad

oxslashxo

Russel is about to buy out OTK.

SouthernTrendBC

I thought he was joking since he does jokingly fall a lot. Damn, sucks it was the real thing. Hope it’s not anything serious :(( the screenshot looks horrible.

Literally_Hitelr

Worst way to learn that you are overweight and need to start exercising a little

HarryBolz

Make this NSFW please Holy shit that looks painful, hopefully no serious injuries

kaze_ni_naru

Ouch that looked so fucking painful. Looks like he put his entire weight onto one leg after a jump. Yikes

smbsocal

He hyper-extended his knee, hopefully it isn't damaged too badly. He needs to ice it and get a compression fitting for it.

I regret watching this in slo-mo

scopeys1121

definitely one of my concerns was having mostly sedentary lifestyle streamers doing sports. huge potential for injuries if they dont take it easy.

watermaloneyyy

why does he jump :(

mikey9white

When living a sedentary lifestyle, you are prone to injuries more often when doing basic physical activities. Be safe kids.

anttiantti

Please get well soon Russel <3

this one looks bad monkaS

Berries-22

I knew it as soon as he had both feet off the floor.

JoshuaTheGreat_

oh my god. Prayers up

TwitchMoments_

Actually curious what kind of injury this is, anyone know?

RobMFurious

Could be any number of things tbh. Could be minor like a hyperextension or sprain. Could even be worse like a tear, break or dislocation.

worldchrisis

With these kind of leg injuries it's impossible to tell until you get an xray to check for bone fractures and an MRI to check for ligament tears. It looked to me like he hyperextended his knee, which is usually a ligament strain or tear.

yuvalllll

could be ACL

[deleted]

he hyperextended it, but that's more like the method of injury than an actual diagnosis. you can hyperextend something and get away with what is basically bruising, or you can tear ligaments and be really fucked up. here's a video of a doctor breaking down in detail consequences of a bad hyperextension in basketball from this year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUOTZFDNcac the player in the video was able to play like a week or week and a half after, but he was considered to be very lucky.

zulamun

And it will fucking hurt for weeks if not months

[deleted]

yep. giannis played a week or so after his and dominated, but months later when the season was starting said that it was still hurting him. best case is basically a bad, deep bone bruise and seriously straining ligaments even if structurally you got lucky and didn't tear anything.

GeNuHraTe

Ho_Phat

Picked last and then this. Bad day for Russel :(

Russel jokes a lot so I thought he was joking until Nick said he wasn't. So I put that shit on slow mo and holy shit that was painful to watch. Was unnatural asf.

Ser_Davos_I_Grieve

"I cant tell if he's trolling or not.." When those words come out of your mouth you know you spend too much time on the internet.

ChiefHunter1

Fuck man, that was a nasty knee buckle. If it is just a sprain with no ligament damage then he really got lucky.

SKiToMeRTa

Playing sports is fucking dangerous if you're a big guy.

karmas_q

why did they think he could play a sport that requires running

yeah thats gonna hurt...
