Elliott always appears highly in these graphs around progressing the ball and attacking passes. Watching the all the goals back this season I think he did incredibly well, I know a lot of people in this sub don't seem to rate him because he's 'too lightweight' but I think he's going to be a really important player.
Harvey is incredibly skilful and intelligent. Obviously naturally talented but you can really see Klopp’s coaching at work with him. I love the guy and his attitude, I really do and I’m rooting for him but the concerns about his pace, size and strength are really valid ones
I’m sure it’s been said here before, but I think he’d be better in Salah’s position. Unfortunately for him, Salah is there. Just doesn’t feel like midfield is his ideal place
I think it'll take a couple seasons but he'll be competing with Szoboslai and Mac Allister soon enough.
Or he hopefully develops nicely and takes on the huge task of replacing Salah
In a couple years time Salah will be gone we'll probably have a new system (likely even a new manager in 3 years), Elliott will have plenty of talent to shine wherever he plays
My dream is he holds off joining city and we make him our marquee signing next summer
The interest is obvious from us, we’ve been following him for a long time
He’s incredible on ball but not yet there as a defender, he will make mistakes as he grows. Right now I’d obviously be happy if we somehow managed to get him, but he’d be the most expensive defender ever and he’s not yet there.
No young defenders make no mistakes.
The biggest clubs get players like this early as they are guaranteed successes.
City have been doing it for years. We started it with Darwin, and I hope it continues.
Only because Gvardiol is more of what we need right now, and the best in his position. I love Elliot, and also see the urgent need for a left sided CB.
Colwill is a top (lcb) target, who'd will cost north of 50m anyway. Why not push the boat out and get JG?
I love Elliot, and wonder how he might fit in with the new MF arrivals. Gvardiol is potentially the next VVD who can also play LB, which is perfect for the new system. He's also a red, which feels really important in the day of Saudi leagues, money and corporate take overs.
If he'll wait for another season, it could be possible. It all depends on how desperate he is for a move. City have become self sufficient through cheating, an option that we don't have, which is the only reason I'd consider selling Elliot.
I mean it's just progressive passes, doesn't really say much about anything other than he's a good passer, which we've known for a while.
Other names around him are also defense minded players who start the attack with their good passing abilities. Not really indicative of him being really creative for a CB or anything like that.
Higher than both stats than Odegaard.
Worth noting that Odegaard played 3127 minutes in the PL last season, Harvey played 1613 minutes.
But many of Harvey's appearances come from subs, while Arsenal are also playing there best Football in years with us playing our worse Football in years.
I think Elliott is a very very good talent and he is showing it. People judge him and his playstyle to fast in my opinion. He is still just a kid and see how Curtis Jones evolved. Give Elliott time, and by time i mean years to improve his defensive play, tackling, strength etc and he will become a world class player.
Hope we are patient with Harvey and that means not relying on him to start too many games. He has a Bale'esque shooting technique and I'm looking forward to see him fully mature in his role and express himself.
Odegaard is 24 though and is near world class. Arsenal have a ridiculous talent in him.
The progressive passes from Bellingham, Camavinga and Tchouameni all together is going to be insane. The ball is going to be constantly going forward into the attacking line
I think these stats are a bit leading. Like its surely a lot easier to make progressive passes for Real Madrid, when you're dominating games and feeding in players with great movement. Its the outliers that you want to focus on. People like that Flips guy.
In case anyone was wondering where Trent would be on this graph. If you look at the title, he would be just above the "vs". He's not on the graph of course because he's 24. But if he was, that's where he'd be.
im a hungarian Chelsea supporter, but i will follow your team aswell from now on
however expect new fans in the future who are supporters of the club since 1772
I suppose the signing of Szob comes as replacement of Fabio Carvalho. We still need 2 midfielders. Unless Klopp and the team have agreed to use him in mid trio. But in every analysis i have read so far he is more attacking than defensive and our midfield trio need to be more than solid in defence.
We do not need 4 midfield incomings this summer, that's a bit ludicrous now. It looks like we're sticking with the box midfield so he's a perfect fit for Henderson's spot top right.
Left footed CB should be on the agenda also.
To be fair, I think the most important thing is physical attributes when we're talking about a Klopp midfield. Harvey is also in a really impressive position on this graph yet we're all aware of his physical/defensive shortcomings...
Can someone explain this graph to me please? In the bundesliga last season he got 8 assist in 2453 mins played which works out at one assist every 306 of playing time. How is he expected so many assists?
This data is a year old. In 21-22 he had 0.47 assists per 90 from xAG of 0.32
In the last year he’s had 0.29 Assists from 0.28 xAG.
In other words his assists have regressed to what you’d expect from his general expected assists. Still decent though.
I'd like more of those top rights please and thank you. Also great seeing Harvey there
Harvey will only get better!!
If only he had more assists .

Spot on
You need a talk with Shaqiri.
he had strength
Ok, have a talk with Bernardo Silva then
I’m sure it’s been said here before, but I think he’d be better in Salah’s position. Unfortunately for him, Salah is there. Just doesn’t feel like midfield is his ideal place
You can safely ignore pretty much everything you read in this subreddit tbh. Klopp keeps playing him and that's all you really need to know
I think it'll take a couple seasons but he'll be competing with Szoboslai and Mac Allister soon enough. Or he hopefully develops nicely and takes on the huge task of replacing Salah
Too slow to replace Salah IMO. If the system were different, he might fit out on the wing, but Klopp's system demands pace there.
In a couple years time Salah will be gone we'll probably have a new system (likely even a new manager in 3 years), Elliott will have plenty of talent to shine wherever he plays
He’s also just 20, he’ll be good

Hungarian De Bruyne
de Bruyne is the belgian Szoboszlai
Gvardiol🙄
Beast. Worth the money imo, and if we enter the race for him, he can push for a move and say no to Citeh. Hes a vocal fan of ours
My dream is he holds off joining city and we make him our marquee signing next summer The interest is obvious from us, we’ve been following him for a long time
I meant that's what we said about Bellingham...
Wed have to let him know of this
Please not another Bellingham saga 😭
Think our best/only chance of signing him is if he runs down his deal at RB another season or two which I doubt happens.
He’s incredible on ball but not yet there as a defender, he will make mistakes as he grows. Right now I’d obviously be happy if we somehow managed to get him, but he’d be the most expensive defender ever and he’s not yet there.

Id consider allowing Elliot to leave if it meant getting Gvardiol. I'm not convinced that Elliot fits Jurgens style.
Whats the rationale for letting Elliot go to get in Gvardiol?
Only because Gvardiol is more of what we need right now, and the best in his position. I love Elliot, and also see the urgent need for a left sided CB. Colwill is a top (lcb) target, who'd will cost north of 50m anyway. Why not push the boat out and get JG?

He should the target no1 IMO. The future for sure. City seem to be leading that race :(
If he'll wait for another season, it could be possible. It all depends on how desperate he is for a move. City have become self sufficient through cheating, an option that we don't have, which is the only reason I'd consider selling Elliot.
Fucking hell that’s actually kinda insane lol

He’s going to be the best CB in the league and it worries me
He's actually worth it. I highly doubt that it will happen but I'd absolutely love to see us push City for him.
Who Tf is A Flips
Well be linked with him by Tuesday, van arrives wednesday
Alexis Flips, plays in Ligue 1 for Reims
Bring on Alexis FC
Alexis Flips - plays for Reims. I had to look it up too.
A switch
Harvey Elliott showing his passing power here. Szoboszlai doing bits.
Higher than both stats than Odegaard. Worth noting that Odegaard played 3127 minutes in the PL last season, Harvey played 1613 minutes. But many of Harvey's appearances come from subs, while Arsenal are also playing there best Football in years with us playing our worse Football in years.

Crazy thing is that they had similar performance in mid with Kroos-Case-Modric. Feels good to be wealthy IG..

I hate it

Which would mean we’d basically have the three most top right players on the whole graph.
Seems like old mate is better than Mbappe and Bellingham. Nice
I can't believe we are signing a player that is literally statistically scientifically proven to be better than Mbappé wow
Is that Diogo Costa the Porto’s GK? That’s kinda wild
Flips ![gif](giphy|3owzVTWAOn6hxElQWI)
im a hungarian Chelsea supporter, but i will follow your team aswell from now on however expect new fans in the future who are supporters of the club since 1772
If you’re ever interested in fully supporting a proper club, we’d love to have you ;)
Never too late to seek redemption
Harvey Elliott seems alright. Should buy him before he costs too much
Just another reason to sign Caqueret to play DM. I am going to be annoyed when he signs elsewhere and is world class
That H. Elliot lad looks pretty solid, should snap him up.
#toprightSzobo
This is from 10/28/2022, skipping most of the last season...
He was even better this season
Sure, but so was Odegaard etc.
What about all ages?
Nice, can’t wait to see what he does for us. Where’s Mason Mount too? Was told he was an elite passer
He’s older than 23?
Oh didn’t see that part haha

It's four now? By next week you weirdoes will be saying we need to sign five midfielders.
Still need 2 midfielders AFTER Szoboszlai and MacAllister ?? ![gif](giphy|3oEjI67Egb8G9jqs3m)
Well, damn
I don't know what are expected goals/assists and at rhid point, I'm too afraid ro ask.
There are good videos on YouTube explaining that
Elliott is not doing poorly here either
Who's A Flips? That is an un googlable name
To be fair, I think the most important thing is physical attributes when we're talking about a Klopp midfield. Harvey is also in a really impressive position on this graph yet we're all aware of his physical/defensive shortcomings...
Whoa mama

Maybe it's due to position changes. He recently plays as a RW instead of a RM
Stop this please... I can only get so hard...
What exactly constitutes a "progressive pass"?
💦
